This has been over 12 years ago but I still remember the awful experience I had. Now, admittedly,…read morehe may be a good oral surgeon, but his chairside manor is awful! He had me waiting 40 mins for consultation and did not come in until I told his assistant i was leaving. Plus, he was not withh another patient but doing some paperwork next door. I did have my tooth pulled with him and while it went ok, his manor with me was inappropriate telling me that I was a wuss. I snapped back, "Yass, pure puss!" No shame in this game baby. That caught him off guard and I got no more of that s**t. He is also a know it all with a god complex and will not admit when he is wrong. We disagreed on what he had told me about after care and not eating on that side; he said he told me that I couldn't eat on it for a year, and I told him that he did not say that ( I would have remembered that). Childishly (because I wanted to see how far he would carry this on) I engaged in a back and forth with him. Me: no you didn't, Him: yes I did....about 5 times this back and forth went on because I was just sure that since I only had 1 dentist pull my tooth and he had multiple patients, wasn't it just possible that I would remember while he might get mixed up with so many patients? I did not continue treatment with him and finished with Dr. Charles Goodman on Sheffield (unfortunately he has retired now), who was excellent. I told my dentist, Dr. Joshua Ehrlich (who by the way is fantastic) of the experience an I wouldn't suggest he recommend anyone else, which is when he referred me to Dr. Goodman. If you read other negative reviews of Dr. Coleman there is a definite theme of misogyny and homophobia.

**THE 3 STARS IS BASED PURELY ON THE OFFICE STAFF NOT THE MEDICAL PROCEDURE OR DR HANSON**…read more I LOVED my experience with Dr Hanson, he was kind and caring and did an excellent job surgically. I have absolutely no complaints what so ever with the procedure- I would recommend Dr Hanson himself. However I was asked to put down over $1200 down as a downpayment (which in itself was weird as I had insurance that would cover 100% of the procedure) but I needed my wisdom teeth removed so I did it. Post-Op everything was great, I was sent on my way and was told once insurance settled up I would be receiving my deposit back. My insurance covered the bill and I was owed my refund from LIT. I called 5 times and left voicemails but was not called back. I had to literally call Dr Hanson (he gave me his phone number post op- again I told you.. he rocked) and he had to literally get them to handle it. Once I got a call back it took about a month before I actually got the refund (so a total of 5 months out of pocket). I feel awful writing this as Dr Hanson literally deserves better. He's a really lovely dude. ( I also see someone else had the same experience I had, which is disappointing)

I pay the $400, and was told I'd be refunded when my insurance company sends payment. My insurance company confirmed the bill was paid several months ago, and that I owe $0 on my bill, but I still have not received payment. I've called, texted, left messages, and I've been dodged as to why I haven't been paid every time. I can only assume at this point that this practice is criminally trying to avoid refunding me. If you can, go somewhere more professional edit: I have since received my reimbursement. I've raised the review to 2 stars, but delaying a refund of hundreds for over 4 months after it should've been received is pretty unacceptable

I always hate to give a poor review, but if I could give this dentist and his staff less and a 1…read morestar, I absolutely would. I was referred to see him for a very minor gum graft procedure and went in for a consultation on January 10th. The consult went ok...I was there for about 2 hours, which was a bit long, but I was assured the staff was thorough. After the consult I was told that all of my information was being submitted to insurance and that I would hear back in 15-20 days with the pre-procedure estimate before I could schedule my procedure date. When I left I asked the woman at the front desk if she needed anything else from me, she assured me that everything was taken care of and nothing else was needed. All I needed to do was wait on the insurance to send the estimate. I will be moving at the end of the March, so I was also assured that the doctor could get me in for the procedure before then (after confirming that the insurance estimate would be received prior to scheduling the procedure - probably mid-February). A month goes by and I followed up twice without getting a response from Mandelaris' office. After reaching out to my insurance, I was alarmed to find out that there was never a claim submitted! I finally got the billing department for his office on the phone and, after trying to tell me to call insurance back, the dentist confirmed that there was an error and the forms were never submitted. He is now claiming that it was because I had not provided all of the information needed...even though I was insured that I had and nothing else was needed by the office woman when I left. It was stated "you need to be your own advocate here." when speaking to the dentist. I am no longer able to do the surgery with this dentist and the out of pocket office consult ($204) was for nothing, as I will now need to see another dentist once I move and have a new consult done before the surgery takes place. After two calls with Mandelaris, several calls to insurance, many snippy calls with the office and a HUGE waste of time all around, he ended the call with a smart remark: "Are you ok if I post this phone recording online?" WHAT KIND OF PROFESSIONAL DOES THAT OVER A $200 ISSUE!? All I was asking for was a refund of that amount since the procedure was not going to be able to take place because of errors that took place in his office. Very unhappy and would never recommend such an unorganized office or doctor with such a lack of understanding.

Yesterday was the middle of my teeth replacement journey. I had an upper molar removed (elsewhere)…read moreJan 2020 and my lower back molar removed last year due to an abscess under it, which Dr. Gregory Thomas removed. It was my first encounter with a new oral surgeon. After deciding to not get braces to correct slight imperfection in my bite, I moved ahead which double-surgery. (Can't move implants is why braces first.) An upper left and lower right implant- both at the same surgery. (For me it was the best decision ever, honestly.) Dr. Thomas is cool as a cucumber. His presence is super-calming. He, of course, had to give me local injections in my gums, but numbed me SO well I felt hardly any of it. (Keep in mind...I'm a HUGE baby.) I did not flinch but made one or two whimpers. (Did not mean to, but natural reaction.) The gals he works with are totally in sync with him. Effortlessly in-sync surgery team. The high-tech gadgets & screen (see pic) were totally impressive and reassuring that he was seeking best placement of implant screws and also avoiding my sinus which was very near to where the upper implant needed to go. Pain during procedure? Nope, not once. If I ever had to have this surgery again, lemme tell you, there's only ONE person for this job!! Dr. Thomas is the guy. The surgery he said would be 1hr to 1hour 15 min. Dead on. I had no clue exactly what was going on during the procedure until the drill part. And even if he told me, I kinda blocked it out. Upper was more brain vibration, but I found bottom more difficult cuz you are getting a lot of pressure on movable jaw. Not painful, just a bit of a muscule workout. I got a call later in the day yesterday from his team to make sure I was okay. I had started my antibiotics the day prior, as he requested, and took one Naproxen 500. It was all I needed. Even this morning I'm pain-free, but still took Naproxen500 as a "just in case" situation. I had a bit of mashed potatoes last night so I could take the antibiotic with food, but no hard solids for a few days. No problem. If you are like me, I work out, I got it in my gym visit before surgery, as I cannot work out for 3 days post op. No straws is also an typical oral surgery restriction for 3 days. COST: Each patient case is different. I went into the office a week prior and got prepped with x-rays and these funky clips I had to wear during surgery (part of the high tech surgery). Not painful, not annoying, just part of it. Panoramic xray for bone level checks. All was great! Woohoo! Plus, he called my new dentist's office to find out which implant post she prefers to work with. (There are choices.) He found me at checkout, and said he was thrilled they chose the best of the choices. (Dr. Thomas explained he has several posts to choose from, and 3 are his top favorites for several reasons.) I paid upfront for all of the pre-op work at just a smidge over $400. Yes, yesterday's bill was a lot higher, BUT I priced it out against my insurance allowance (he's out of network for all dental plans) and it was in line with my insurance allowable. ADVICE: check how your insurance pays for out of network care. Mine pays the same but the dentist can charge anything. Again, Dr. Thomas' bill per tooth was in-line with the in-network dentists. Plus, I'm unsure if I had gone to an in-network DDS if they would be as compassionate and capable as Dr. Thomas. Yes, I did pay the full amount upfront, and yes, they did bill my dental insurance on my behalf. Would I choose another oral surgeon? Nope, not as of today. I'm glad this is over, and i have post-op visit next week. Then I wait months for healing and then 2 teeth will be up next. That will be from my new dentist, Dr. Priyanka Patel in Lincoln Park at Rooted Care.

I have very complicated TMJ jaw issues and I saw Dr. Hoffman because he came up online as someone…read morewho specializes in TMJ problems. After two visits, I would NOT recommend going here if you have complex jaw issues. My issue is that my discs are displaced and locked, not just that my muscles are sore bc of clenching and griding. Went I first saw Dr. Hoffman, he recommended botox in my masseters and temples. He also recommended a repositioning split. The bill that I was given at that appointment included both the botox and the fitting for the splint which was done at the follow up appointment two weeks later. This was well over $1k. At my follow up appointment, the fitting for the splint took only about 30 seconds which I found concerning. Then i got the price for the splint which was $4k. I did not feel comfortable paying this after a 30 second measurement, so I decided to get a second opinion before moving forward. He also told me that he has only treated this in 5% or less of his patients. Overall, I am very unhappy with my experience here. I felt pressured into spending over $1000 on something that was totally unnecessary. I wish he would have been upfront and honest about his ability to treat my issue and recommended that I go somewhere that is more specialized in TMJ problems.
