If this review was about AL. , who initially helped me inside of the store. It would be a 5 plus. (He totally get's it!!) Unfortunately this is not about Al, it is about Marisa, the cashier, who checked me out on 10.31.16 @ 1:10pm. In the middle of my transaction. Another older lady approached to behind the cash register area, (I assume she is some other employee/cashier, as she was wearing that vest) and then interrupts Marisa and proceeds to discuss something of importance of her without excusing herself to me or Marisa. In the mean time I stand there silently as I can... I wait patiently for about 1.5 minutes, while this conversation continues to drag on and on. The second employee does not seem to understand what is being told to her. My arms starts to ache as I am holding my grand-child who is about 35 pounds. And suddenly I realized that this rude woman, this other cashier, who cut in to my check out process, is going to take way longer that I would like, as my grandchild is very heavy. I finally butt into the conversation they are both having amongst themselves. And announce to the both of them that my grand-daughter is heavy and that I would like to go. Marissa gives me this look and then states that I haven't even slide my card through the reader yet, like I am supposed already have done. I then explain that I have slid my card twice. During this exchange. This other rude employee (who caused all this mess to begin with) is still talking away all through all of this exchange that Marissa and I are having, and my grand-daughter has now grabbed the electronic signature pen, so Marissa stares at me again, does not ask me for the pen that my grand-daughter is holding, and then she suddenly tries to snatch the pen from my grand-daughter who is 19 months. When she realized that she could not snatch if from her. She then pulled the pen from my grand-daughters hands. WHY????? Why could she not of asked her? Why could she not have asked me? Is this typical behavior of Marisa or other employee's at this location? I was kind of shocked to see an employee make a grab for this pen device after all she was only wanting to hold it. And we were not going to walk away with it. Now, finally, this other employee is quite. In my stumped state, I grabbed my hastily packed purchase, partially shoved in to the brown paper bag and I just left. read more

Rudest and most over-priced place in town. Worst selection too. Cheap mass produced stuff, the same as Lowes but twice and three-times as expensive. The woman who runs the paint dept has a name tag that reads "Paint Wench" - she is been rude every time we are in the store-she better keep that job forever because she would be unemployable anywhere else. read more

Thank God for True Value, we all know how critical it is to get the right plumbing part when we need it. True Value has repeatibly had the plumbing part I needed when other stores didn't carry it. The owner treated me like a criminal and humiliated me publicly. As a festival organizer, I spent somewhere in the $1,000's at Just Ask Rental (same owner) and True Value. On my way to Fry's, someone in the True Value parking lot told me there was a special event inside that I should check out. After Fry's, I stopped in to check it out. Just like everyone else, I got a free wine and sampled some curried beef and a couple other items. The owner came up behind me and watched me. I made small talk. Then he told me the event "is only for special customers." I asked him how he knew I wasn't. He didn't answer. He assumed I was a vagrant. He said I must leave after I finished my wine. I still had a couple sips left when he followed me to the other end of the store and started forcing me toward the door. I was already heading for the exit. I yelled at him to go. His response: "Nobody tells me to go." I don't recommend that store to anyone. I'm not the only person who was treated like a criminal there. Stay away for your own good. read more

In addition to my own awful experience the other reviews would suggest this store has a consistent problem with customer service. The 5-star review by Roddy B. is so phony it almost seems like an ad for the store... I was asked by 5 different employees if I needed anything and had the impression they were following me. I'm guessing this store sees a lot of thieves? I personally called the manager after having a problem upfront and was written off. This is what got me. Even if nothing could be done the indifferent attitude toward my situation which was caused by HIS employees was infuriating. Please at least pretend to care... Also, Why is their rental section located in an old gas station next door? They couldn't give me a price on a rental because of this... They need some younger people at this store and need to replace the ancient indifferent store manager. It would have been very easy to fix my situation if they wanted to, but clearly they can't be bothered. read more

I have watched this store grow for many years while on vacation in Prescott twice a year for the last 15 years. Now that I have lived here for 3+ years,I'm amazed at how high class it has become.I rarely need to go anywhere else except for lumber.Keep it up guys! read more

This store has everything. You want lumber, you want nails etc. Great. You want locally made products like Black Bean Salsa, vintage sodas, greeting cards, candles, gifts galore etc ... you're in the right place. Friendly staff, fun browsing and it's huge! It's just fabulous. read more

Have a great nut & bolt selection, I dislike that you can't look at inventory with out being shadowed or asked if you need assistance from 2 or 3 different associates. If you tell them you don't need any help, they keep trying to assist you with it anyway, associates select things that are the wrong size or different grade. It's a great store but would really like to look at around at the bolt bins without being followed. Always bring my own pen so I can write down what I'm getting for when I get what I need when I go to cash out. read more

I am a longtime customer of True Value. Today I needed some fluorescent tubes for my business and some fence posts. When I checked out with Marissa my receipt showed that I had been undercharged by $50.00. I brought it to Marissa's attention and she rang up the charge again. When I was putting away my stuff I noticed that she had overcharged me this time. I returned with receipts to make my claim and that's when I met every rude person TV has. Did I really get overcharged, did I really receive this Item, you need to wait for a supervisor. When I told them 20 minutes later that I had to get back to work, they treated me like I was lying about everything. Remember I started all of this initially because I pointed out that they undercharged me by $50.00 Jackie, Marissa, shame on you both and the snotty dark haired older lady employee that didn't believe me either. One thing I have learned is; If True Value undercharges you for an item, don't bring it to their attention, because will cost you! read more

this is a great place. locally run and fully stocked with knowledgeable and friendly sales folks who are the first to ask you if you need help (you don't have to track them down). they know their stock and their craft and most of them appear to be semi-retired or retired professionals who are now sharing their expertise with us. It can be a quick in and out or you can chat it up with the locals who all seem to know one another or, at least, act as if they do. returns are no problem so long as you keep receipts and the selection is wildly impressive in that its so much more than a hardware store. Its one of the best stores in town for housewares especially for the kitchen. when family comes in from out of town, i bring them there just to show off our town... it's that impressive. the only down side is that you pay for the expert service, the great stock, the friendly atmosphere, the inviting ambiance. so, if you are willing to pay a bit more for a lot more value... it's a great spot to shop. read more

Do those Loyality Cards even do anything? No, mystery solved, they don't or at least if you return something they don't. First you are told store credit, ok no problem no receipt. Then to be told you have to spend it today, or it expires. If that doesn't make you really happy they will finally tell you that you can have a gift certificate. Stop wasting people's time. Yes they have an ok selection but they used to have much better selection. One bad experience...turn off. Customer service?? More like misguided arrogance read more
