Great store, great staff. The other day a couple of items fell out of my purse in the parking lot. Someone brought them into the store. A staff member did a little detective work by researching their sales for the day, found that I was the only one that bought those items. This true value was amazing to visit when I first moved to prescott. The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. Especially since i needed a bunch of screws to build a bed frame but I couldn't find them om my own without the help of the employees. The quality of everything I bought here was all worth the money despite the high prices. Most of my tools for my first tool box as well as the box itself came from this location and they're still holding strong and working properly. The store had such an amazing selection of hardware to choose from its better than home depot and lowes. The biggest criticism is the high prices of the products. But still it's worth the money and quality tk ensure you get something that'll last a life time. Check out this store over other hardware stores. read more

So I was just told, that there is a female in charge over at true value in Prescott, who treats her staff like a dog. Or worse than a dog. There young kid behind the register, and apparently she chastised and berated him in front of customers. This is not a business that I would patronize due to that behavior. I hope, the kid, gets a better job somewhere else. They don't deserve to be treated like that and they deserve a better work environment. read more

I love hardware stores (spend a lot of money there) and always want to support small businesses. The young female cashier with the mask I think needs to either not be interacting with (customers) or get some some training in human relations / customer service. Being rude, abrupt and short rubs me the wrong way as I'm sure it does with most people. I've wanted to write this many times in the past but 'let it go' thinking maybe she had a bad day, but it seems to be a continuous trait and management should think twice about employees not treating customers well. I'd rather drive further to another store where kindness and respect is their second nature. read more

I don't recommend this business because the employees just don't care. Say "Good morning" they don't respond in kind. I haven't heard a "please", "thank you", or an "I'm sorry" when they don't have what you need in a long time. No, I haven't heard the basic language of care, respect, or kindness from here in years. This is far, far more than a hardware store. You will not find lumber, carpet, or appliances like a "Lowe's Depot", but you also don't need to pack water, and a lunch, for that 5-mile walk to find that one item you need, on your own, with little or no help from the staff. Where this business shines is CUSTOMER SERVICE - in all caps. There are plently of helpful, knowledgeable, adult staff, in every department, who deliver the type of personal, attentive service that was ubiquitous half a century ago. You'll find none of that pointing you toward the other side of store and asking "Umm... did you look over on Aisle 17? Oh, you did already??? I'm sorry, we are probably out. You might try Walmart!" Nope, these folks will take you right to the items you seek, answer all your questions, make informed suggestions, and ensure that you leave with exactlt what you need. There us also none of that preoccupied staff standing around, averting eye contact until you are safely out of range, either. These folks are smiling and pleasant and eager to be of service. But NOT in an annoying car salesman way. The ONLY reason they don't have 4 to 5 stars overall rating is two things put together: First, this popular place has very few reviews overall because, after all, who reviews hardware stores in a small town??? Typically, not average clientele found at Prescott True Value. Add to the few reviews that do exist, there were 2 entitled YELPHOLES who gave a scathing review instead of speaking to a manager at the time their dissatisfaction arose. These are merely "keyboard warriors", who are to timid to speak up in the moment and get their issue solved right then; instead, they go away mad and later launch a passive-aggressive nuclear attack from the safety of their bedroom. So silly! By the way... I recently bought my Alton Brown recommended Shun Knives here! In Prescott! In a hardware store! With great staff assistance! Take that, Amazon! I have been shopping here ever since they took over the old CORNET store. (Who remembers that!? LOL!) This store is a jewel. Let's hope they are here for a long, long time. I took about 8 kitchen knives into the store to be sharpened yesterday, They were expensive knives but were quite dull from use. I just picked them up less than 24 hours later and they came out fine. I will take the remaining knives back to be sharpened. read more

They let 2 people in after 6. They Need to update closing time. Cashier rudely said 6pm when this website shows 6:30pm. Sign on door says physically 6pm ...guess you need to know the Cashier to be let in after 6pm, didn't realize that either, til I stayed in parking lot to type this and watched 2 people allowed in. I love shopping here. However, the garden Dept employees really need to learn at least something about that stuff. We went in to get some frost blankets for some of our plants in our yard. The first employee shrugged his shoulders and said he didn't know what they were so they probably didn't have them. The next employee knew what we were talking about but said they didn't have them. We walked away to go pay for our other items and right there on the end cap one aisle away from where we were talking to employees were various different frost blankets. The employees should know this stuff! This happens often in this Dept. Do better! read more

They told me on the phone that a gallon of Woodsman paint was on sale when i called last week for 10 dollars off thru the 18th. But when i went today the 13th to get it they told me the Sale was off Sunday. This is total BS for 10 dollars they lost a good customer. Never will go there again. read more

Very disappointed with this business. Dropped three screens off two weeks ago and after the man measured them he said the cost to replace the screen would be $75 - $80. When I picked them up it was $110.00. Now that is a large price discrepancy for sure. I should have gone elsewhere as I will going forward. That is not an honest business practice. read more

Towards the end of April 2022, I went to True Value to buy 2 boxes of frosted globe lightbulb The cashier that rung me up was an elderly lady, and when she rang me up she scanned one frosted and then entered a quantity of 2. However when I got ready to install the bulbs, I discovered one of the boxes contained clear bulbs. I returned to the store on the 28th and bought another frosted globe box. True Value is the only place to get these bathroom globe bulbs because they are not LED. Today I tried to return the clear globes and was accused of lying and stealing by the store manager, WALT . I had a receipt for the frosted globes, but didn't have one for the clear ones. I am a 72 year old woman, on a cane, and after the actions of the manager, I told him it wasn't worth these hassles for $5.64 it cost. I ended up dropping the bag as I left the store so frustrated and insulted. Shame on this Prescott family owned and operated store! read more

My husband and I are new to the area and we have been doing a lot to organize our new home. We are so glad we found Prescott true value. They always have knowledgeable people available to help. The store is clean and well stocked and is such a pleasure to shop there. This is now our store. We won't waste our time going to Home Depot or Lowe's. I purchased a item that had a security device in it and it went off when I went through the door. They politely asked me to walk back in the store and proceeded to give me a hard time about them not disarming their product. Yesterday we went to True Value in Prescott. I found something that I really liked but the price on the shelf was totally different then the sticker price on the item. (And, FYI, we are not talking a dollar or two but $10.00) I went up to the register and asked if they could help me regarding the difference in the price. A woman grabbed the item out of my hand, walked over to the aisle where I got the item from, said someone had put it in the wrong spot and then proceeded to tell me that if I would have read the sticker, I would have seen the price. I explained to her that I do know how to read and the shelf price was definitely different. She stated "we don't put sticker tags on items for no reason, they're on there for you to read!!!" She then proceeded to tell me "It's all the customers like you who take something off a shelf and put it in the wrong place that makes this happen" at which time she ripped the shelf price sticker off the shelf. I understand that people have bad days, however I was not the person that placed that item on the shelf; all I did was pick it up and take it to the register. Being a consumer, politeness makes a much better impression than being rude. Being rude is never okay in my book, but especially if you're in sales. Needless to say they just lost a customer and I have definitely spread the word to friends and neighbors!!!! read more

My husband and I visited true value around 5:30pm today. First time here in all the time we have lived in Prescott (years). We walked in with a LIST of things we had to buy for our move today, asked people for help since we had never been there, both men that helped us were rude and said "nope don't got It" or "no" and that's It. Very short and rude not any, "Im sorry we don't carry that, but we do have ___" or think of who may have it? Then we ran back there at 6:31 pm (closes at 6:30) my husband runs in and the lady in the front with glasses and brown hair stops him and looks at him rudely and he explains to her we have to be moved out we need this piece to fix something and only you carry It. He asks if her register is still open and if he can go get it really fast and she calls out for a George and says "he has something to ask you" in a rude manner and he asks what's up my husband tells It all over again George allows him to go, the lady isn't happy. As he's running back they radio someone to stay in the back since there's a customer running back there (no problem) and then another guy radios "you might as well just stay here all night" and we got out of there at 6:35 Are you kidding me? That's on top of all the explaining and talking. We won't ever go back to true value here. So rude, EVERYONE WAS RUDE! I don't understand? Who do they think pays their paychecks? Customers, business, money. This staff needs to learn customer service. The only good customer service they give is to each other while the ladies up front just chit chat away until customers come. And the men just know how to say yep and nope. The only reason I gave 2 stars was because It smelled good and was very clean inside. read more

I rebuilt an entire 1980 Harley Shovelhead FXE with the great assortment of nuts and bolts, regular zinc coated, stainless steel, copper and other metals necessary for a correct build. I have been buying necessities there since 2008 and all that time they have been knowledgeable, helpful, kind and smiling. I also kept one other Harley going with their parts. I have worked as an industrial mechanic and love their quality. We had a new house to get as we liked and True Value has always been my 1st choice for hardware since we moved here. After years of going to True Value I still love the store and it's as good as it gets. read more

Handy place to pick up quality products and some things that I can't find at the big hardware stores. I have always found the staff very helpful. Prices are reasonable. I get rewards which in effect lowers the prices on what I want. I have been shopping here for more than 7 years and realize a small place can't have everything. I find it disturbing that many of the reviews are from people who had a one time bad experience and use this as a complaint department. None of the people know where anything is in the store it's like asking someone that's blind to guide you, Sherry she's a store manager and she thinks that she knows it all but she's just rude.
