When I went to this location the employees had absolutely no idea how to help at all. I was needing help to look for light bulbs for my lamp and when I mentioned the kind I was looking for, they had no clue what I was talking about. That's not all, they really weren't speaking in professional or friendly moods either so it is clear they do not like to speak to anyone. Home Depot's truck rental system is completely nonfunctional. Are they really in the truck rental business? Yesterday I reserved a cargo van at the Prescott Valley Home Depot; they took a $150 deposit. Today I went to that store, presented my driver's license, and was told I first needed to scan a QR code on my phone (!!??). Then I received a text, with a magic number. Then I typed the magic number into something called "CLEAR". Then CLEAR had me take a selfie. Then present my license to my phone camera; CLEAR repeated "try again", but eventually CLEAR got it. But then it demanded the back of the license. So again I showed it to the camera. This time "No document detected" ... over and over and over. So I handed my phone to the HD employee: "here, you do it - I could have applied for a mortgage in the time this is taking". The HD employee tried and tried, always failing, until CLEAR apparently crashed (blank blue screen). BTW this is a recent Samsung phone (not an antique), with a very clear & legible license, with good store lighting. I gave up - I said "here, look at the photo on the license, then look at me - it's obviously a match". The HD replied that he can't verify it himself. I asked if he could override the CLEAR step - no. I asked him to call his manager - he said he couldn't override CLEAR either. So I said call the president of Home Depot; he said he couldn't override it either. Apparently even the Pope would not be trusted to simply look at my license, then look at me, and confirm it's the same person. I asked, what can we do? He said, nothing can be done - he could not rent me anything. If CLEAR is no important to national security at Home Depot, then perhaps Home Depot should have equipment at the register that can scan a license under controlled conditions, not relying on the customer or the customer's technology. I had people waiting for me to bring a truck for a move today. And I drove across town to this HD for this rental. You took a $150 deposit from me. And wasted a lot of my time an patience. Fortunately, there was a U-Haul not far from there, where I got a truck and did my move, quickly and easily, for less $ than the HD estimate. I had a small project and didn't know where to look. I knew what I needed but had to explain what I was looking for. I found a associate who was very helpful and took me to where these items were. She was just amazing. Her name is Judy. I thank her for here assistance and said now, I will just need to cut this common board in half and I can start my project. She (Judy) said we can cut that here for you. I was taken back with surprise and happiness. She took me to a man (I think his name was Rick) and he was very friendly and eager and did a great job. Checking out was awesome. Kelly the casier was very pleasant and boxed my purchases solid and made sure I received my Military discount. Here's what you get now.. I bought a spool of Manilla garden twine...it looked pretty stout, enough for me to bundle branch cuttings . Upon using, I discovered that the outside layer was thick, then there was a knot, and all the remaining twine was thread-like. (see pics) I took this item back and demonstrated for the store manager how they were being ripped off by their supplier, and in turn, the consumer (me) was being ripped off. In 2025 I have spent about $500 at the Home Depot on route 69, various types of flowers and plants and trees. About half of them died. I would bring back the receipts for the dead plants. In the cases where I had bought multiple types of flowers or shrubs, I was told that I had already returned that one. I thought the return staff was rude. The manager was not very much better. I just had a plant I pulled up this morning that cost me $50. It's dead. I have the receipt sitting on my kitchen table right here. I'm not bringing it back. I will not shop at that store anymore. I explained to them also that I'd taken Master Gardener classes and so I sort of know what I'm doing when it comes to plants. read more

We had a great experience at this Home Depot. We were looking to buy air filters for our AC unit. We found Jeff in the aisle - he walked us over to the filters- he found the correct size- offered an explanation for the different options available. As we were selecting the filters - he pointed out that we get a discount if we purchased more single filters. We got 4 filters for 31.00 instead of 63.00. Selection re: garden section. Sadly, this used to be my favorite place until I learned about the widespread use of neonicitinoids invite pollinators only to poison them. That's a huge problem everywhere. I had to stop. I also found that like other big operations, people often didn't know about neonics or even much about the plants. That is a generalization. Some individuals were great but it doesn't make up for the harm the company is doing. I even talked to those in higher levels and it was not helpful. read more

So here's something you should know if you're going to get an item that isn't on the shelf, something expensive and easily stolen. They have these items at the front of the store. You have to scan a QR code. Then you get additional barcodes for the items you want. Okay, easy enough. Here's the fun part. You get to go to the front of the store and search for an employee who isn't too busy talking to another employee who will tell you to "go over there," which is an area that houses the items you'd like to purchase. Then when you get "there," you see the items are locked. This is my favorite part. You find an employee who, for some reason, is utterly and unbearably annoyed that you're asking her how to actually get the items you're ringing up. She didn't understand what we were doing and why we were checking out without any physical items, as if this is the process we dreamed up and rolled out. Then she got even more annoyed because she had to call a third employee to come unlock the locker door with the items. This is DMV-level customer service. She was sighing in frustration, shaking her head. I could practically hear her eyes rolling. I'm tempted to go back and do the whole process again just to see how hostile this lady may actually get, see if I can't get steam to come out of her ears for having the audacity to ask for help. I'm glad we weren't purchasing any gardening tools because I'd probably have ended up with a pair of shears in my throat. They weren't real busy, but maybe she was having a bad day. I hope that was it. I give people the benefit of the doubt, but then I see the reviews posted here. Hoo-boy. read more

January 25, 2020 4 stars (for now that is). Nice smooth experience at this Home Depot in Prescott Valley, AZ today. Excellent service in the paint department and then walked right up to a helpful (and human) cashier to pay. Fantastic. Patronize this Home Depot location while you can still enjoy the service experience before they convert this Home Depot over to 100% self checkout stations just like the Home Depot stores have done where I live (Southern California). Yes, that's right, not one single cashier anymore. All self checkout. No one to help you at all. Nothing. Zero. Nada. You are on your own. The HDCI (Home Depot Corporate Idiots) believe that eliminating cashiers and having only self checkout stations is a great idea (for them) and will eventually convert this Prescott Valley Home Depot location as well. It's only a matter of time. They don't care about inconvenience for you. It's all about profit. They hurt our economy (eliminating employees), they don't care, it's all about profit. Customer service? Forget about it. I despise self checkout and refuse to use them. I'll leave the shopping cart full of merchandise and walk right out the front door. Let the employees they no longer have at these stores put the stuff back on the shelves! If you read through the comments here, you will see a marked downturn in customer service at this store. Sadly, the comments are true. I am a long-time Home Depot fan. There were times, during my adulthood, when my monthly Home Depot bill surpassed my mortgage payment. My most recent home, for which I was owner/contractor, was built with lumber, fixtures, etc. from Home Depot. I have had mostly positive experiences with HD staff. The negative ones were handled by supervisors without delay. Recently, at this store in Prescott Valley, AZ, customer service has deteriorated to the point of incompetence. It is increasingly difficult to find employees for assistance and when you do find someone they tend to tell you an aisle number and move on. If you need further assistance, you have to find someone else, which is no easy task. I recently purchased a dozen 50# bags of gravel. Once I found the gravel I searched up and down the aisle and found no employees. I am 72 years old and have doctor's orders to not lift more than 10#. Since I live alone, I do occasionally lift more but I try to not worsen my injury sites. Fifty-pound bags of gravel are far too heavy for me. I went to the service desk and the attendant there told me she would call for assistance, which she did. After waiting 20 minutes, I returned to the service desk and a different person called for assistance again. A young man arrived in about 20 minutes. I asked him for help loading the gravel onto the cart and then into my truck. He rolled his eyes and sighed while he said, "Sure." I feel bad enough needing help. I really do not need a teenager with attitude. This is only the most recent problem. I have a list of customer service and policy failures at this store. An example of a policy failure is that this store closes its lawn and garden center at 6 pm, two hours before the store closes, in late June. They do not list this on their website. They do not care if their customers waste their time, energy, and money as a result of their incompetent communications. As another example, the evolution of their customer checkout system has been a nightmare. They started with software clearly meant for grocery stores. If you were trying to check out something too big or heavy for a plastic sack you had to call for assistance so an employee could input their employee number for every large or heavy item, (in a HARDWARE store). The assistant was running as fast as they could and could never catch up. It took what seemed like forever for them to add an option for large items. Another long-term problem has been items without a scannable tag. If you dare to choose an item or two that is missing a tag, take an energy bar to eat while you wait. Here is my rant about the use of self-checkout: We (shoppers) are working, for free, for huge corporations without our consent or protection. The corporations just did it and we, in typical US genuflection mode (Dear god don't make waves!) fell in line. Not only that, the equipment they give us does not work logically; is filled with software bugs which pop up at least a half dozen times a session, causing us to stop and wait for an overtaxed, often elderly, employee to come to your station to fix their damn machine; and when we take a second to figure out what the hell the machine wants, it bitches at us over and over again. "Please put the item in the bagging area." "Please put the item in the bagging area." We are idiots, pure and simple. Grinning lemmings leaping off the cliff one after another. [NOTE: Lemmings, in real life, do not do this, they are smarter than humans, but you get the point.] All we can do about this horrible customer service is to write a review, pray that someone with authority reads the evaluations, and find a more professional hardware/building supply store. Huge corporations only respond to money these days. If we take away some of their money, then, and only then, will they hire competent managers and sales representatives and give them the training and equipment to do their jobs. read more

Oh were to start... I will say that if you plan on buying an appliance from this place, I implore you to go elsewhere. It took them 4 attempts to deliver our refrigerator. They changed the first delivery date, came again on an entirely different date when we weren't home, never showed on the 3rd date and finally, after calling their main office and speaking to a very helpful lady named Valerie, who assured me she would look in to it, finally came through on the 4th try. One of the main problems is, they don't have their own delivery people. They contract out with an independent company so there is no quality control going on with HD after you buy. I suppose this saves them money but at the expense of the customer. I will never buy an appliance from these people again. Ever. I don't care if the price is 50% less than other places, it's not worth the headache. read more

This 1 star rating is for my visit today. I bought a home in Prescott Valley and have made dozens of trips to Home Depot for repair items. I am rebuilding the back fence and have so far spent $1100. Not bad for 100 feet of fence. Today I returned to the store to buy the rest of the fence boards and rails. I went through the remaining stack of fence boards and found 87 good boards. I asked the associate if they had more because I need another 100 boards. He said he had to sell the rest of the ones on the stack I went through (the warped, twisted, and split boards) before he could take the pallet down from the top. I paid for the boards I had chosen and asked the clerk to call the lumber manager over because I wanted to come back tomorrow for the remaining boards I needed. She rang me up and had me wait even though I let her know I was in the middle of a job. After several minutes, I told the clerk I was going to load up the truck and asked if the manager could come out to the parking lot. The manager was a no-show. This was a failure on the part of three people at the store, not just someone who was having a bad day. This speaks to a culture of poor service. I am going to try the home depot in Prescott tomorrow as they probably carry the identical fence boards. I have found Ace Hardware, Alliance Hardware, and a few other local smaller stores to be much better at helping me solve problems around the home. I thought I'd save a few bucks going to Home Depot. I'm sure I did but I also got frustrated too which really makes a job much more work than fun. I will avoid the PV Home Depot in the future unless there is no other option. read more

Over $50 to rent a 5x8 trailer for 4 hours. Last year same trailer about $20. Staff could cut it in the fast food industry and the slackers migrated to Home Depot. I bought the trailer back and no instructions where to put it. I went to Home Depot in Prescott Valley this Morning. My intention was to purchase plants for my garden, dirt, mulch, and decorative pots for my patio. I found two employees who were not with customers and asked where to find eggplants, one pointed to the area and said they were on the top shelf and walked away with the other employee. I happen to be a disabled Senior. I asked another employee about dirt and mulch, she simply pointed and went back to her social group. In total I approached 6 employees, seems that helping customers is not a part of their job description. I left and drove to Lowes, what charming employees they have. First visited mid-August and scheduled measuring. Waited at home and no one showed. Went to store and they asked for receipt. NO ONE told us there was a need to use a card to reserve the date so we gave a card and all went well. I pre-measured and came up with 980 sq ft. THD rep said his laser measuring device was always correct. Carpet was installed by a single installer and he did excellent job! However we have 127 sq ft left in one big single piece of carpet enough for a whole room. We really feel we were oversold as the Asst Mgr said he agreed. After numerous visits,we have been waiting over a month for some satisfaction. read more

I only gave 1 star because I cannot go any lower! The management staff at this HD is uneducated when it comes to their return policies. I had to explain to the assistant manager "Spike" that (TRE) their third party company that "arbitrarily" rejects returns, is not a part of HD. He insisted otherwise! He was wrong! Buyer beware with HD when it comes to purchasing items with cash. Don't expect to get store credit always when making a return without an actual receipt. HD can and will arbitrarily decide to not refund an item without a receipt, even if its brand new in the original package. The main reason I was given for the denial was "It could be stolen merchandise". Which insinuated that I probably stole it! Congrats HD...you have lost a customer for life! read more

We purchased 3 appliances for the new kitchen. High end LG Fridge, Stove that "air frys" and Dishwasher. All the best at that time in March 2021. We did not receive them until the end of May. During that time we found that the appliances were not going to fit (especially the Fridge). We went to Home Depot Appliance Department and said we would like to return or exchange them for different sizes. We were told in no uncertain terms that they will NOT ACCEPT the appliances. Their policy is NO RETURNS except if they are damaged. We spent over $4,400 and they are still in the boxes, never opened and yet THEY SAID TOO Bad, their policy is NO APPLIANCE Returns. Corporate supported their decision as did LG. After many calls and many rude people with the exception of the LG person we are now going to sell the 3 unopened applianceS in their boxes in perfect condition for $3,200 cash. Worst service ever! Had ordered new cabinets October 2021 and were told sure they'll be done by Christmas. March 2022 they just started and did a really crappy job. Gouges in the wood and door pulls were crooked. We were promised that one section would replaced and now it is January 2023 and still not done. The entire staff was super helpful and genuinely cared for my situation, especially the manager in charge. Last time you will ever see my face in this place ever again....Walked in tonight to get some paint mixed up...Went to paint counter to see two employees hanging out and thought i hit the jackpot because your lucky to ever find one . When dude was done talking to female co-worker he asked me if i needed help .I said yes i would like some paint mixed up.He asked me what color ? i said grey but i want to look at a swatch .He then said he did not want to do it because it was close to closing time ..Looked at my watch it was 10 minutes till 9pm plenty of time to mix one gallon of paint .He looked like he wanted to go home to play computer games so i did not push it .I had a job at Hustons restaurant that closed at 11pm ..People would walk in at 1101 pm and i had to stay .Sometimes till 2 am .If i pulled up lame i would of been fired on the spot ..guess we come from different times ? .Drove 30 miles there then 30 miles back home .This home depot has been useless for many years but now it is beyond useless due to bad management . I purchased an LG top of the line refrigerator-freezer from Home Depot recently online. The transaction was uncomplicated, the LG refrigerator-freezer arrived undamaged and as ordered. The delivery people set it up properly and removed our old appliance as arranged (slight added cost). This is how it is supposed to go. After the great 5-Star rating I gave Home Depot for the refrigerator-freezer, I must now down-grade it after my experience trying to get a contract to get a tile job done at my house. The Home Depot lost the tile job at my house after demanding 100% of the money up front for labor and materials. I explained this was not a common way to do business and I would give them a negotiated percentage on contract signing and the balance on successful completion and cleanup. That way if there was any issue with the job or cleanup I would have some leverage. I was told they understood but they demanded to be paid in full in advance. Just 18 months ago, I would have given this Home Depot store 5 stars, but it started down hill and continued! First a gentleman at self checkout that everyone knew as "A Coach" left. His personality and demeanor was top notch! Everyone enjoyed speaking to him. Next the employees became more interested in whatever they were doing than speaking to or asking customers if they needed assistance, they would walk right by you, when you were obviously needing assistance. They would point you towards an area they "thought" items were at and when you returned telling them it wasn't there, they would reply with, "It must have been moved. Or We must not have it anymore." If you obviously had an item that you would or might need assistance loading in your truck, by the time they found someone, you could ask other customers to assist in the parking lot and be gone. Tool rental staffing was poor, they wanted to help but when there's only one person there, you could wait 15 - 45 minutes just to return items. Yesterday was my LAST VISIT TO THAT STORE #0446 Prescott Valley!! We went there to purchase Blinds a purchase of over $670. After finding the blinds & putting most of them in a cart, we needed assistance with the others. Three (3) employees walked by us making no comments or greeting us without stopping. When we were going to the end of the aisle to approach them for help, they walked off and even looked at us as we tried to wave them down. Three (3) employees were in the Dock area nearby joking around and talking and doing nothing, getting their attention was futile and the language being used during their conversations was not conducive to a public store. We left the cart with 10 boxes containing blinds and went to the front exit. I mentioned to a self checkout clerk the problem and she asked if I wished to speak to a manager, YES, I DID! When he arrived I explained the issues and described the employees as, "Bozos" for ignoring people and the language on the dock. He wanted to know if he could get someone to help us, after I showed him the estimated total of our purchase. He didn't apologize for the service or the employees!! I declined and went to the Prescott Home Depot store # 0452 where the service and courteous employees (Lance, Terry, and Michael who checked us out) assisted with my purchase of $673. WE WILL RETURN TO STORE # 0452! It's sad to see what was a good store with excellent customer service become the store it is now. read more

We are getting ready to have a house built and I tried calling to see if I needed an appt to get a quote on windows, doors, etc... The phone rang for OVER 10 minutes!! Then I got hung up on, so I called back. After ring for another 13 minutes, a guy answered. I asked for the lady I dealt with last time I was there and was told she didn't work there anymore. When I told him I was getting ready to have a house built and wanted to know if it normally takes 13 minutes or more for someone to answer the phone he said - so do you want windows? Totally rude and something I don't want to deal with considering we will have multiple trips to the store and thousands of dollars to spend! Rudeness is definitely something I can do without and will be going elsewhere. read more
