Short story: inconsistent food, arrogant staff and poor hygiene makes me question the 4.6 rating. What started as a promising visit to a restaurant with a very nice looking bar quickly spiraled into one of the most disappointing meals I've had in DC or anywhere else. While the pimento tot appetizer was tasty (though smaller than pictured online) and the beer list was decent, the experience went downhill from there. My burger was overpowered by a cloying onion jam and the fries were overly salty. The real star of this horror meal, though, was my son's "Nashville" hot chicken. It was caked in a black, soggy layer of spice--completely different from the plates at other tables. When we told our server, he literally laughed and told us that's "how the chef learned to do it in Nashville" instead of offering a solution. To top it off, we waited nearly 15 minutes just to pay in a half-empty restaurant, and my son spotted a mouse scurrying across the restroom floor. Between the hygiene issues, the arrogant service, and the inedible main course, there are far better options in DC. I'd even opt for going hungry over eating here again. Any place that invites patrons to send photos of their pets to display on their walls is a winner for me. I had a group happy hour here a few weeks ago and can't wait to return. The drink menu is extensive (kudos for offering low/non-alcoholic options) with decent prices and a good happy hour. Several of the others in my group ordered food, and the English Muffin Pizza and various orders of fries were much enjoyed. Great outdoor seating, a nice bar and booths if you want to sit inside. Service and food were excellent. They were short staffed but you'd never have known. We started with the Eastern Shore Elote dip with homemade chips. Spicy, sweet, salty, and so fresh! I ordered the tots with crab dip and my husband had a burger. The tots are homemade and so crunchy. The crab dip was amazing. The burger was cooked perfectly and the fries were delicious. Our party sat down outside on a gorgeous afternoon and within minutes we had water and our server took our drink order. A few minutes later, the server came out and inquired as to any questions about the menu. We had a few and they were answered in a friendly and cordial manner. We had the ribeye cheesesteak and the Nashville chicken sandwich. Both were served with the most wonderful tater tots any of us had ever had. Turns out they're made in house. I was here during a work happy hour, and while free alcohol at work sounds great in theory, it's usually not as fun in practice. This time, though, the bartender completely turned things around and made it a great experience. She went out of her way to find me a drink I actually liked, which wasn't easy considering the company clearly cheaped out on the liquor options. Her effort and friendliness really made a difference. On top of that, the finger foods were amazing--especially the sliders. They were so good, I'm still craving them. Juicy, flavorful, and just the right size to keep going back for more. What could have been a pretty dull happy hour ended up being a lot of fun thanks to the great service and surprisingly delicious snacks. I came to this place for dinner/happy hour in January 2023. The happy hour extends into Saturday and is until 7pm which is amazing to find a weekend happy hour. The interior is cozy but aesthetic with an elevated British pub theme. I was able to get a day of reservation through Resy just an hour before. I have mixed feelings about the food. We tried the chili, Nashville hot fries, and turkey sliders. The turkey sliders were average, decently well made but nothing standout. Given the price point, worth trying. The Nashville hot fries had a lot of room for improvement and I would not recommend. I found them to be very greasy and saturated in a hot oil that wasn't flavored well. The chili was good, but missing salt. It featured what looked like ground up hamburger and beans. The accompanying cornbread was really tasty, one of the highlights of the meal. I would probably order this again. I would give the service, happy hour, and interior a 5/5 and the food 3/5, averaging out to 4/5. read more

The staff handled it beautifully in a very awkward situation, and the group of what was supposed to be 10 that ended up at 16 was egregiously offensive in a manner befitting an Stasi campground. If you're looking for somewhere that can hold their ground with professional staff and a taste of class, this is the right place for you. The bartender, Lane, professionally guided the group away from potential conflict and the server, Kevin, stood fast against very racist remarks. This place should never be counted out as a bastion of equality and good service. Shame on those from out of town that would suggests otherwise. read more

The bathroom is nice and they have a coat rack. The bartenders are nice. Happy hour does not include cocktails. They do have some mocktails on the regular menu. Drinks automatically include a $2 gratuity. I just wasn't impressed with the menu. It looks fancy, but when you break it down it feels like a pub. The cucumber smash is not made with actual juiced cucumbers, just muddled. The Rouge and Rosemary secretly has cranberry juice in it. The Sage Advice is made with blackberry JAM. He originally brought us there for the happy hour, but they don't have the happy hour on Tuesdays. The food and beer was still top-notch. We wound up getting the burnt ends, brussels sprouts, and eggplant chip "nachos". It was really hard to go wrong with any of them, but the burnt ends were really good and that's coming from somebody who lived in Austin for more than three years and has high standards for barbecue. They did not disappoint. The eggplant chip "nachos" were really different and good. They were a whole strip of crispy fried eggplant slices topped with jalapeños, salsa, and cheese like nachos. The Brussels sprouts were also good, but "only" good not surprising. The beer list was good, but not stunning. There were a lot of local beers including a few from Baltimore (Oliver brewing) that I hadn't had before. That said, none of them really blew my socks off. The Oliver B'more hazy was yummy though. I came here with two friends on Thursday, Nov. 3rd at about 5:30PM which started out as happy hour, but turned into dinner. We were seated outside, as our choice and it was a beautiful evening. The interior looks beautiful as well. I had the Hot Chicken Sandwich with fries and it was absolutely delicious. It was a very generous portion and the fries were nice and crispy. I live in a building nearby to this place and my friends I were looking for a place to get a casual drink. It was super cold, so we wanted somewhere super close. When we went, we LOVED IT. The ambiance of the restaurant was super cool and low-key. The place was clean. Our waitress was so nice and so funny. She had such a great vibe. They had a wide variety of options on their menu both for drinks and for food. Two of my friends got the spiked apple cider and it was very good. They let me have a sip and it was so warm and smooth -- perfect for a snowy day. My other friend got a Moscow Mule and so also loved that. I got a hot chocolate with Baileys. Their hot chocolate was homemade, so it was unique. It was super-rich, so if you like chocolate, I recommend it. The hot chocolate usually comes with brandy, but it tasted great with Bailey's. I also got some french fries. All of their sauces are homemade. I got their ranch and buffalo sauce. Both were great and you can tell it was homemade.
