The cleaning was very cursory and done by an assistant instead of a dental hygienist and she couldn't even floss in between most of my teeth. It was the first time that ever happened. The teeth whitening sessions are a waste of money. My fiance and I did teeth whitening sessions here, and it did not work at all. They gave my fiance an extra session because even they realized it had made no difference, but that did not help. I know it's not a miracle worker, but to do 4-5 sessions each and not have any noticeable difference means they're doing something wrong with the application. They do not stand behind their work. I had an onlay done here in 2017 which broke a couple of days ago. It lasted less than 5 years. And they refused to cover it under their own warranty. Mind you, plenty of dental practices will give you a better coverage. It was stupid of me to not ask this upfront. I highly recommend Presidio Dental. I had broken a crown ,and went in to get it replaced. Usually this required two appointments, two weeks apart while the new crown was fabricated in a lab, and a temporary crown in the meantime. Because Presidio Dental, has the latest most amazing technology, Dr. Steven Brattesani was able to create the new crown on site and install it for me. Start to finish, include waiting their new technology to create the crown was less than two hours. This saves a lot of misery and inconvenience. Dr. Brattesani is the best dentist I have ever known. I've been seeing him for decades and every time I need dental care I am impressed by his knowledge and skills and his application of the highest and latest technology to the science of dentistry. DO NOT let Dr. Karamyan do your veneers. He has no clue about cosmetic dentistry. He did my veneers and I ended up with infection, 2 root canals, and over 15 dental visits and still going. Fabulous experience, and for me the best dentist. My sister, her husband, my husband and nephew are all dentists, but based in NYC so I searched for the best I could find in the Bay Area. Dr Karamyan is the best, period. I had an emergency during COVID. Tooth had a root canal, and cracked. He saved the tooth (with a cavity to boot) and 3D printed a crown in less than 20 minutes that fit first time in. For me, his personal touch, commitment to perfection, and patient first is one in a million. Going back in June for deep cleaning and professional whitening all of which he has done before. I went to Presidio Dental this morning, the experience was ok. Good things: Receptionist priced my whitening at groupon price, even though I do not buy it there, and she was nice. Bad Things: The actual dentist didn't said hi to me until I was about to star treatment but the assistant burnt my gum with something and called him, he fixed it right away and we started with the procedure, but at the end when it was time to clean the whole thing, NO ONE literally no one came until I had to literally scream HEY, then he came, the dentist told me that someone was going to send me an email with instructions.. which I still haven't received. Also I have done this in the past and it has never been so painful, this is actually the first time I am in pain, I cannot even open my mouth at this point and it doesn't seem to be getting better. And I really blame it on the 10 minutes that I was waiting for someone to come clean the whole thing. The price is very good but I think I needed better attention, not being booked at the same time as other patients and being just left there. read more

3-Stars = Okay I went here for teeth whitening. The front desk person was nice. I met with Dr. Karamyan for a few minutes prior to the procedure. The only time I saw him during my visit. Someone else came in to do the whitening. After the procedure, the woman who whitened my teeth verbally gave me a list of what not to do (don't drink or eat anything that will stain your teeth), and I was given the okay to go about my day. What was odd is that she never handed me a mirror to look at my teeth. I went in for a teeth whitening procedure. Um, you would think I would want to see the big reveal? Right? Subtracting stars because, just like after one gets a haircut, handing the client a mirror should be automatic. Were my teeth white? YES! Did I love the end result? YES!! Did I pay extra for gels and a 4th session? Yes. Um, but I have no complaints about that. Only taking a couple of stars off from a perfect score for what was already mentioned. read more

I came to presidio Dental for braces they had a special on Groupon. Upon arrival the welcoming staff was cold. They ask why I was there and I told them I purchased the Groupon special for braces. I was taking to the back for a look to see if I was eligible. Upon reviewing she told me I was eligible and to schedule a day to come back. I did that and before my appointment I was ask to come earlier than my appointment which I did. And upon my arrival another cold welcome and was then told I'm not eligible for braces. Mind you I was always told I was eligible anytime I went in for a consultation at other places. She told me to go there then and that she will refund my money because she doesn't want to do my braces. My teeth situation was not bad at all this lady was being cruel and nasty to me and I truly didn't appreciate that. And she purposely wasted my morning coming there and telling me to come early just to change her mind and tell me some other crap. And I went somewhere else and they told me I WAS eligible!! Through Obamacare and current circumstance I found myself without dental insurance and in need of a cleaning. I was trying to find a decent dentist to do a routine cleaning that wouldn't break the bank. After calling around a few places and hearing that it would be about $200 to pay on my own I started to look at Groupon. Groupons can be a little hit or miss but I needed to get my teeth cleaned and took a chance. You get what you pay for, is the moral to this story. They are open on Saturdays which is convenient and they were able to see me soon. I told them I had the Groupon. Office is nice, clean and Dr. Ken was kinda blase and did a fairly cursory consult... who cares I just want a cleaning. Having been to my old insurance dentist within the past year with glowing results, I thought this would be easy peasy. No cavities, no weirdness. They consult, they X-ray and I'm informed that I need a "deep cleaning" and he shows me TWO teeth that are gunked up. Of course, the Groupon doesn't cover this. I ask for more information-price, time, etc. cause if it was reasonable I would of gone for it. It's not, it's $225 bucks. The receptionist is sent in to give me a song and dance about periodontal disease, I say song and dance because I flash on when I was sitting in the waiting room waiting to be seen and heard the EXACT SAME SPEECH being given to another patient. That's when I knew... I'd been scammed. I lamely asked for just a regular cleaning and, of course, was DENIED. I'd like to see the data on people who come in there with Groupons and are "eligible". The receptionist tried to tell me that just him looking at my teeth and the Xrays were worth over $300 but having called around to other dentists to get quotes, he must be the very bestest for pricing out at that amount. I'm so angry with Presidio Dental. I had my teeth cleaned by Dr. Karamyan 6 weeks ago, and that went fine- no problems there. I asked to schedule a teeth whitening appointment before my wedding. Dr. K recommended that I schedule the appointment a few days before the wedding to get the best result for the big day, which I did. I just received a notice that my appointment has been cancelled (less than 3 days before the appointment) because he is going on vacation. It is too late to make another appointment elsewhere to get my teeth whitened before the wedding. The response from the office manager was "the doctor does have a right to go on vacation." Yes he does, but to recommend a specific date and then cancel so soon before the appointment to go on vacation is extremely unprofessional. After posting the above paragraph and after a bit of back and forth, the office manager did provide me with a connection to another appointment with a different dentist. It's less convenient for me, but at least I will look the way I want for my wedding. That adds on a star in my book. read more

I was in need for a cleaning and checkup so I called Presidio Dental to see if they take my insurance. Without any issues or inconvenience, the front desk took care of handling my insurance information and making sure I was covered for my visit as well as the procedures I came in for. Dr. Karamyan introduced himself to me and was very detailed with what the next step would be for my treatment. He printed a treatment plan that specified the cost out of pocket as well as what insurance covers. This office is very organized in that way and I appreciate his time, effort and skills. read more

I just bought (and returned) a Groupon for this business for Zoom whitening. Their hours on both Groupon and Yelp were incorrect (this was just fixed based on my conversation with the receptionist). They are not open on Saturday's or Friday's. I found this out by calling their office. Their receptionist was flat out rude and told me that the information is old and there's only an appointment for June 12th at 10 am. I told her I work and prefer Friday or Saturday and she told me they are closed. I informed her the info on Yelp and Groupon is incorrect and she told me "I work here, I know when we are open." And proceeded to hang up on me without even trying to earn back my business. I will never come here and don't suggest anyone does either. Not what I expect from SF! I bought a Groupon for Zoom whitening at Presidio Dental. This was my first experience with both the procedure and the office. The procedure is great-- it whitened my teeth as promised. However, my experience at Presidio Dental was not so great. They requested that I arrive 10 minutes before my appointment, so I did. But when I got to their office, there was no one there. The staff finally arrived after my appointment time and said they were just getting back from lunch. Since I had to fill out new registration paperwork, my appointment ended up starting late. During the treatment the staff were quite rough with me. They had to put a mouthpiece in my mouth to keep it open for the treatment. I understand it's never comfortable, but they kept pressing it harder into my mouth (even though it was clearly in all the way) and shoving the machine up against it so the mouthpiece was cutting into my gums. At no point did they ask me if I was comfortable even when I was wincing from the pain. At the end I had very raw spots inside my mouth from the mouthpiece. Finally, when I was leaving I was told that they would email me the after-care instructions. Thankfully I was able to google the information I needed, because they never followed up with an email. read more

I have been a patient for Dr.Ken Karamyan for almost 15yrs. I was trilled to find out he opened his practice in the Bay area a couple of years ago, I did not want to go to someone else. His work ethic is amazing makes you feel at ease regardless what treatment will be done as he makes it feel painless.:) I get compliments on my teeth all the time and owe it all to him! I would highly recommend him. My recent treatment was getting my invisilign. Worked with me for payment plan, he had to take my wisdom teeth out and do a crown before he can start anything so for that I am very pleased on his advise and outcome. Gumtastic! As a former dental professional... I can honestly say Presidio Dental is awesome! In my search for a dentist closer to my home, I scheduled an appointment easily and quickly. The office is lovely, spacious and clean...as it lends a very calming and serene atmosphere during your treatment. Beautiful views, quiet music and very comfortable chairs. I went in for a routine cleaning which went well and it was very thorough which included digital xrays. His assistant, Gina, was gentle and very nice. It turned out that I needed a filling, which Dr. Ken was able to do on the same day and he fit me in to his schedule. The work was reasonably priced, well done and Dr. Ken's touch is very gentle. I did not feel the injection which was fantastic considering it was a front tooth! Dr Ken is also amazing in that he is multi-skilled in performing all types of work...from general cosmetic dentistry to orthodontics to root canals and extractions too! I highly recommend this place! It is exceptionally clean, they are meticulous with following all the guidelines and they are very professional. There is ample free parking in this area and it is very easy to get to by car or bus. I came to this place with a dental emergency and they have been nothing but wonderful to me ever since. They made sure to give me a really deep cleaning that fixed my gum problems and set me on the path of recovering. Next time I came in, they didn't skimp on the cleaning either and made sure to tell me exactly what to do. I love the insurance plan and it is cheaper than other places. Especially considering the quality, the relaxing environment, the honest and hardworking staff. I am contacting them for my invisilign retainer even though I had it done elsewhere originally. The receptionist, the hygienist and the dentist himself were all fantastic and were so professional in dealing with my ridiculous antics revolving around teeth whitening (I was petrified of the pain and was a nightmare to deal with). The results are PHENOMENAL! The pain involved.. well.. we all know that teeth whitening can cause significant tooth sensitivity (some people get it, some don't..) I went to Presidio Dental for a root canal procedure a few days ago. I was treated by Dr. Kenneth and his colleague Dr. Emma. I have to say, I've been to many dentists in my 16 years living in the San Francisco area, including various clinics in the Richmond area, specifically Richmond Dental, and other places. The way Kenneth and the rest of his staff carry themselves far exceeded my expectations. This dentist is amazing. My entire procedure was absolutely pain free. Their clinic is well kept and clean, and possibly the best part is their state of the art equipment, which is new and must be expensive. They spared no expense for their clients, and that truly means a lot. I am one of those individuals who has a fear of dentists and dental procedures. Those fears disappeared about 10 minutes into my root canal, as I felt no pain, and was given goggles for eyewear to deal with the bright light. Again, their equipment is unlike any I've ever seen anywhere else. It must have cost them a fortune but it makes the world of difference when you are in the chair. I could go on, but I think I've made my point. Overall the procedure was well priced, totally painless, and ALL completed within only two visits. I've never in my life had a root canal be over this quickly and efficiently, it's a testament to their professional attitude and practice. I've had a total of 4 root canals done, 3 at other clinics and 1 at Dr. Kenneth's. My only regret is only hearing about them now, I would have gladly came in for all my root canals. I promptly switched my dental care to Presidio Dental. This is the only clinic I will ever consider in the future. read more

First off, I don't really feel like posting any photos of my teeth so this will remain a photoless post. ;) I discovered Dr. Kenneth Karamyan & Presidio Dental through Yelp as it's the closest dental practice from my house and I'm all about convenience. That being said, picking a good dentist is key and it shouldn't matter how near/far one should drive to get top notch dental work. I went in last month for a routine cleaning and invisalign consultation and was super impressed with Dr. Kenneth Karamyan. The appointment started on time, everyone was friendly and he has a nice calm demeanor. He's super focused on having top notch technology to assist with all things dental. I have to have a crown replaced sometime this year due to a previous dentist mess up and he has a machine that will print one out while I wait in the chair. Unreal. I wouldn't say I'm ever looking forward to going to the dentist but, at least I like Dr. Kenneth Karamyan because he has my best interests in mind. read more

I went there for a Zoom in teeth whiting while they had the promotion on Yelp for $150. But when I got there, they asked me to sign a paper and also explained to me $150 is only include three sections of teeth whiting. If you want your teeth really white, you have to do the fourth section which is $35 dollars extra. (If I dont want my teeth really white, why I come to you guys for teeth whiting? what is the point? I dont understand ) And if you feel sensitive with your teeth, you have to add a sensitive gel which is other $30 dollars extra. So I did all four sections, but my teeth did not turn any whiter then before at all. So I asked the doctor, he said it will turn white later, just go home and wait. so I paid $185 dollars and went back home that night. They did not get any whiter, But the pain start 5 or 6 hours later. It was not only sensitive of the teeth, it was painful like toothache. I could not even talk, I had to hold my mouth when I talk. I went to 24 hours pharmacy for that because it was so painful. So I went back to the dental office to asked why my teeth are not turning any whiter and it was so painful. The answers were "The result is not guaranteed, different people get different result. " (Its very easy to say that the result is not guaranteed and you signed on the paper for that. But I also came here for teeth whiting!!!) when I asked about the pain, their answer was "well, we asked you if you want to add the sensitive gel, but you said you feel ok." ( who knows the pain will start 5, 6 hours later?) what the assistants said almost made me ever more angry, she said "oh, its just normal you feel sensitive or pain after the teeth whiting, patients complain that very often. we had a girl couple days ago. she called very next day and said the same thing, you can put some olive oil on your teeth, the pain will go away" Ok, this is the funny part , if you guys all know it will start hurting later, why there is no body tell me about this at all? And just waiting for me to suffer the pain? ! What the hell? This is not the doctor and assistants should do. Over all, I paid $185 for nothing but pain. Waste money, waste time. And My teeth are still not any whiter by the way. Guys, I am telling you, not worth it, do not go there. read more

I found Dr. Ken from an Invisalign coupon, but I've gotten more out of Presidio Dental than a good deal. I got a GREAT deal and a dentist I can really talk to! He works with me to grant amazing self-pay rates for dental work AND has great communication regarding my clear aligners, which begin next week! So far he has walked me through x-rays, fixing cavities, dental impressions, and viewing the three dimensional model of how my teeth will move. I feel like I'm in good hands because he gives me all the possible options--would you like to make your bite absolutely perfect, even if it takes another nine months?--and listens to my answers. He's a bit of a chatty Kathy, which isn't for everyone, but if you're in a rush just make sure he knows that when you schedule an hour-long appointment you actually have to be out the door at 3:00! Besides a few appointments running way over the estimated time, I have no complaints. read more

The best decision that I have ever made! For years I have wanted invisilign for my teeth that has relapsed over the years because of not wearing my retainers. I love this office. You will never find a nicer dentist or orthodontist like this one! He will take the time to know his patients and hear their concerns. I told him of my life and financial situation and he worked with me and in addition he asked me what I wanted to accomplish with treatment. What is even cooler is that he talked to me about his late at equipment used in the office for exceptional treatment for his patients. Best office ever!
