Love this place! How cute are the hair cocktail names!!!! I got the new client special which included wash, hydration treatment, silk press and trim. This place is definitely a vibe and I was given the price breakdown and seated as soon as I walked in. Took an hour and a half and the service was great! My only pet peeve was the service charge. I thought it was a clever way to make sure stylist get tipped appropriately which I loved but was told its not part of the tip...I assumed the service fee was for the service from the stylist but unsure what's it for? Heat damage warning!!!--I will say this salon curled my hair very beautifully. It lasted maybe 2 weeks. After washing, I realized I had severe heat damage. If you have soft hair, curly/wavy texture and usually try to avoid pressing often, DON'T COME HERE! There's a lot of heat being used and you'll regret it later. Although the staff are very nice and the pictures are amazing, I'll be trying to repair my hair for the next 6 months.... or maybe I'll just cut it off! read more

Absolutely loved my blow out, press and curl. My stylist was extremely professional and accommodating, and took wonderful care of my hair given my concerns about heat damage to my natural curls. Beware, though, that at the end of the appointment they may charge an extra $20 fee for those who have long hair. Apart from that unknown, everything else was excellent! If you want heat damage this is the place to go. You should never put high heat on someone's hair than say you are a natural salon. If you want to keep your hair healthy you shouldn't get this done you will regret it. I love my hair too much to let a salon break it off. I come to be serviced every Sunday. I have been coming to formerly branded "PressBar Salon" since I was a little girl. Yesterday, I experienced incredible forms of disrespect from manager, Shannette and hairstylist, Kim. I made an appointment for 4:15 at the Duluth location. Upon arrival, I still waited around 20 minutes for my service to be started. I was met with Kim who was more focused on laughing and joking with her peers. Kim handled me very rough and her lack of paying attention caused the water hose to go down my back and soak my sweatshirt while I was at the wash bowl. She was very loud as she talked with others and sang over the music. The experience was already not relaxing and calming. As irritating as that was, I continued the service. When Kim, started blow drying my hair, the heat was too hot, she did not place a towel on my neck so she was burning me. When she began to press my hair and got near the front, she was clinching my scalp with the flat iron, after four times of flinching out of clear pain, I finally said "youre burning me.." Kim's immediate, nasty response was "It's the edges, it is going to be hot." To which I responded back, "I get pressed every week, I have never been burned when the stylist was doing my edges." She responded back very rudely, "How often are you getting protein treatments?" I responded, "not very often!" to which she nastily replied "maybe you should." She continued to rough handle and burn me. Next day my scalp is still hurting. Upon finishing the service, I kindly asked the receptionist, Aria, if any other stylist could repart my hair. I am in here every week, getting the same style, have already been dealing with a rude stylist throughout my service and would no longer like for her to do my hair. Kim comes over to the receptionist desk to confront me. Very loud and rudely, "Is there an issue??!!" so loud, that everyone in the salon stopped. She asked me three times though I was clearly ignoring her. I asked Aria to make sure the stylist' name was on the receipt, paid $118.00 with an automatic 18% service fee that is tacked onto the bill. I stepped outside to my car to get in contact with a manager. I called another location and spoke to Z. I asked Z three times to make sure the manager called me back, I wanted to share my experience with her and give her an opportunity to rectify my issue. After 30 mins, I called Z back and she informed me the manager was inside the Duluth location (which I was at).. Now concerned that there was a manager onsite during this incident, I am curious which of these ladies was the manager. I go inside and ask for Shanette. Shanette comes out with an attitude, almost as if I am bothering her and she would rather be anywhere else. As I am trying to explain, she consistently interrupted me, made excuses for her employees and for her pathetic self. I asked both Z and Aria to speak with a manager, she blames both of them for not relaying the message to her, which I highly doubt. She did not once apologize for my experience or ask what she could do to fix it, other than repart my hair. Didn't address the stylist inappropriate, aggressive behavior or comments. And get this! A manager over all three locations who DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO DO HAIR!!! I ask Shanette why she didn't intervene because she was present during my back and forth with Kim and Aria, it was because she was "with a client". I asked her if she didn't feel my matter was important enough to excuse herself from her client and intervene. She heard me telling Aria, I was not happy with my hair and asking for another stylist. What kind of manager observes interactions like this and allows her employees to behave that way? Shanette did end up reparting and curling my hair. Took her nearly 30 mins. She finally agreed to address the stylist after I emphasized over 10 times why this is unacceptable. Shanette did inform me she is over all three locations and the chain of command stops with her. I spend too much money here on a weekly basis to be supporting a business that treats clients this way. I shouldn't come to spend money in your establishment and the stylist is about to beat me up because I don't like my hair. I didn't like my hair because it wasn't what I asked for. A different girl does my hair every week and I have never had an issue asking for an ol fashioned with a pin my mimosa!! You just lost a customer for life. As black people, we need to do better about how we engage and respect one another. Imagine coming here thinking this is a safe space, which it has been to me since I was a little girl. Bad people will chase all of your clientele away. I tried to have a heart to heart with Shanette but she was more worried about taking up for Kim and lying for her. read more

I love the concept of Press Bar! This was my second experience and first at this location. I previously visited the one in Suwanee and Brittany was my stylist. Love, love, love it! My stylist at this location, Ashley, is the bomb.com. She's very gentle at blow drying and styling my hair. I will definitely be back!! read more

I went on Sunday 6/20. I was serviced by Bri. I got a Presstini + trim. The hair wash and experience was good until the press. She kept going too close to my scalp and it burned really bad . When it was done my scalp was still burning. I took this picture Saturday 6/26. The bigger spot still burns today slightly and it didn't get a scab until today (at least when I noticed it). Press is a mess. Rude unkind staff that conspires together. I had hoped to leave a different review but after leaving my number to speak with the owner and the manipulation that followed. I will never return to this place. I've been twice. The first a horrible personal experience with a nasty spirited stylist named avi and a better hair experience with a stylist named Jordan. I left my number for a follow up from the owner with the receptionist and I don't know who she gave my number to but it was not the owner, she was only trying to protect her coworker. There is a sign in the bathroom that says "god bless this mess". It is a mess. I came back to let the girl get her after pictures since she took before pictures but didn't seem too concerned with after pictures at the end. I was only being kind and even came back with 3 $15 drinks for them for free since they were just about to close. As I walked in they were all huddled around the desk gossiping. Now I know why. Don't worry because y'all will never have the honor of touching my crown again. A chunk of my hair is missing since avi performed services on it. When Jordan cut my hair, I took every last strand with me, even the hair off her sweater like boots. I don't know what avi is up to but that girl carries a very bad spirit. When she blow drys a person hair she literally yanks at it with this old raggedy brush and does this weird mouth thing. I rebuke her, her demonic spirit, or any demonic practices that she may have attempted to practice or speak against me and I return them back to her in The Mighty Name of God. Ladies beware of where you get your hair done, who you let touch it, and make sure you don't leave your hair behind for someone to take with them. Probably one of the best salon experiences I've ever had. I've been natural all my life and spent much of my younger days seeing the worst of salon culture: insanely long wait times, having to spend your entire day at a salon, odd negotiation practices, inexperienced stylists, and crowded and noisy salons. PressBar Duluth is truly a breath of fresh air. I made an appointment with Janice after literal years of refusing to go to a salon because of the reasons above. And she DELIVERED. She was so kind and accommodating, the salon was exceptionally clean and peaceful, and the end product was absolutely beautiful. I knew exactly what I was going to pay before I even arrived and the online scheduling tool is so user friendly. My next appointment is already scheduled lol. read more

This is my second time at this establishment. I came in for what was booked as a "micro link refresher." When I had the micro link installed I was informed that the refresher would be a $150 each time until it needed to be redone. I had a consult with Janice who was very nice. After the consult, which included a discussion on how long the process would be, she proceeded to do my hair. Mid way through there was a shift change. Miram came in and asked Janice what service she was performing. Janice told her a micro link refresher. That's when the madness, poor professionalism, and that messy salon culture began. Miriam started asking around about what she should charge me for the service. She eventually came back and said "did anyone discuss the price?" I said no I was already aware of the price. She said, we stopped offering the refresher service so we will be charging you $350. I immediately said I'm not paying that. That's the price I paid to originally have it done. She said she had to speak to her manager, who is not the owner Kali but allegedly her business partner, Tanica. They then called Janice over for what appeared to be a scolding. So unprofessional, that discussion could've happened later. Tamica proceeded to ask Janice to repeat what the consultation was like and then corrected her about offering the service. Mind you, the receptionist(a male) booked the service. So it appears they didn't properly inform their staff that the service was no longer offered. It threw off my entire experience. Janice tried her best but even I felt uncomfortable by how they were behaving. I was then told it would be $180. I won't be returning. For one, the audacity Tanica had by asking me to pay for a full service when all that was done was a retightening. Extremely insulting. Secondly, I will not support an establishment that treats their employees this way. Janice was not in the wrong. Clearly, there was a failure on the salon owners parts by not communicating the changes. Even the one of the other stylist said they were unaware.
