I called ahead to ask for a quote for an oil change on my Mercedes. The person was very nice, gave me a quote that was fine with me, and said if we bring it in and wait it would take about 2 hours, vs if we left it for the day and came back. 1st thing, not really an issue but was annoying and inconvenient, my bf took my car at my appointment time and waited there, and ended up being there for 4 hours. 2nd, when he arrived he was asked if I wanted a filter change. He said no, just there for an oil change. When the car was finally done, they told him a much higher price than what they quoted me. Turns out they changed the filter anyway even though he declined. He told them to change it back because he was not paying for it. Ended up trying to get him to change the filter and get an alignment because my car apparently needed it bad, which obviously would have cost more. They lost my trust by this time so instead I took it directly to the Mercedes dealership and asked what I needed done. They checked everything and said it was fine. No alignment or new filter needed. Also, whenever I get my car serviced, my fluid levels last me an entire year. It has only been a few months and my wiper fluid is out. Not sure if they don't top it off or what. The original reason I went, the oil change, seems fine. But for all other reasons I will not be returning. read more

I had an excellent experience. Everyone was incredibly friendly, professional, and accommodating from start to finish. I was able to walk in and have everything completed same day, which was such a relief. My Honda had a pretty concerning leak in my transmission cooler line and I was worried it was going to be expensive. They performed an in-depth diagnostic exam and quickly identified an issue with the transmission cooling line and identified the reasoning behind the leak. They explained everything clearly, showed me what was going on, and gave me honest recommendations based on the diagnostic without any pressure. I brought my car to Prestige due to a misfire that could not be fixed by the dealer. I was in contact with them throughout the repair which took a week. Andre, the owner talked to me over the phone saying he was struggling to diagnose my car. He stated that the aftermarket fuel injectors that the dealer installed were no good, so he reinstalled my original injectors that were in the trunk still. He then said it needed a new fuel pump. After that he called and said he wanted more money to fix wires on the MAF sensor. At that point I said don't do anything else. The next day he called me and said he repaired those wires for free. I paid $1491.37 on 3/20 and the car was returned to me. So, work done was replacing fuel pump ($833.44 just for part), reinstalling old fuel injectors and repairing cracked wires on MAF sensor. I drove home from Sacramento to Placerville with no problems. The next day I drove back to Sacramento for some errands. The car began to misfire and CEL came on. I called Prestige Auto Works and asked if I could come back. When I returned I was given an additional estimate of $1295 to replace fuel injector on Cylinder #1. I declined. It was Friday and I was stranded in Sacramento. When I returned for the key so I could have it towed home, Andre seemed sympathetic to my situation and hugged me, which I thought was a little inappropriate. New mechanic (who is a Japanese car specialist) found fuel injector installed incorrectly which caused the car to misfire. "After intake disassembly to inspect fuel injector operation found Cylinder #1 injector connection broken and not attached to injector. Also found injector not installed correctly previously and gasket crused due to not being seated correctly." It is now repaired by new mechanic and running correctly. I contacted Prestige over email with photos of proof of damage to fuel injector and incorrect installation. I included the report from the new mechanic. Asked for refund, which would be the RIGHT THING TO DO. I was denied a refund. Do not trust your car with this place. Edited to add: I've noticed that Andre doesn't like to accept responsibility for his mistakes based on reviewing this page. I literally have photos of the damaged injector and connector. Nobody else worked on my car after Prestige had it, and before it was looked at by the Japanese car specialist. I will be reporting your shop to the BAR. read more

I got my transmission fluids changed and a free inspection. The cost was almost 300 for a bmw. So it seemed like it was pricey but I did get a lot of good knowledge for my car. I made an appointment and had to wait due to timing on business hours. The requested service estimate for found issues was not sent as requested by client and that doesn't seem like good follow up. Excellent services here. I came to them for servicing for my BMW. After not being satisfied with the services I was receiving from the dealership, and weekly check engine light, I came to them to resolve an issue that was happening with my car. They were very knowledgeable, explained what went wrong, and clearly explained how to resolve the issues. The technicians/staff there always took time to talk directly with me about expectations, future proofing/preventative maintenance, and what to consider to keep my car running for as long as possible. They even explained issues that the car was having as a result of the dealership not doing the correct maintenance on the car (which the dealership had been servicing the entire life of the vehicle). To no fault of their own, I ended up having to get rid of my car. Hybrid, high voltage system was failing on it and at cost of repair outweighed the value of the car. Of which they still gave quote on so I could make an informed decision, explained the repair in detail and what would be involved. I would highly recommend services from here. Their goal is to keep your car going and prevent large issues from developing. For when the bigger issues crop up I feel confident in their ability to provide top tier services. read more

I'm behind on updating this review, but I have kept it in the back of my mind for the last few months. My old car has been through a lot and just like myself, getting older by the minute. My most recent vehicle complication was when the transmission started failing. I searched on Yelp for a nearby transmission specialist. I brought it in and after a long waiting period of days, I was told that besides my transmission needing to be rebuilt, they discovered that my front axles were cracked! My brain quickly took me back, when Prestige Auto Works had already noted this when I brought my car in for other issues. At the time, I just couldn't afford to get everything completed, so, instead, took my car to Les Schwab for a free tire rotation. I asked them to check my front axle assemblies at the same time, and was told they were in good condition. That's when I had some doubts about Prestige, (and now Les Schwab). So much for a second opinion! Prestige was accurate all along! I had my axles fixed at the transmission place, since I was already there, but felt really bad about my previous review. It is time for me to make amends and apologize for doubting them. I also realized that Prestige Auto also works on transmissions! This location is a definite one stop shop for all things auto repair! At least I came in recently to have my car pass smog and certified. I'm sure I will need future services again, but hopefully not too soon! read more

(Update) Prestige's response contains inaccuracies that I'd like to clarify. The vehicle's owner (my wife) was never directly consulted; instead, approvals were obtained through a third party -- a close friend of the service manager -- who did not own the vehicle. That's a clear communication and authorization problem. Their reply is also written as though it comes directly from the owner, Andre K, but neither I nor the vehicle's owner have ever spoken with him. All of our interactions were solely with the service manager. That makes it difficult to take their version of events at face value. Prestige further misrepresents what happened afterward. The recurring error codes were confirmed by Meineke before I performed minor maintenance, and the same codes persisted afterward. Elk Grove Jeep then diagnosed the real cause: Prestige had failed to reinstall components correctly, leaving missing fasteners and loose connections. Once those mistakes were corrected, the Jeep has run flawlessly for hundreds of miles. Rather than accepting responsibility for their workmanship, Prestige has chosen to shift blame onto me and others. That is disappointing, because all I ever requested was reimbursement for the dealership's work to correct Prestige's errors. Errors can happen in automotive repair -- but refusing to acknowledge and resolve them is the real issue. If Prestige chooses to resolve this fairly, I am happy to update my review accordingly. (Original) This business is corrupt. It's the kind of place that gives non-brand auto shops a bad name. They overcharge, replace unnecessary equipment, and perform shoddy work. When you get them to fix their work, they expand the scope of the job and force you to unnecessarily replace more parts. I took my vehicle to Prestige due to some mechanical and electrical problems that should've been covered by my third-party warranty. Prestige had my vehicle for several weeks, and the scope of the work consistently expanded. Rather than diagnosing specific issues, the technician threw the kitchen sink at it and assured me that many components needed to be replaced. After several weeks, I picked up my vehicle and immediately experienced more (and new) problems. Prestige then charged me to jump start the vehicle (that was still on their lot), replaced components, and then when the components they replaced didn't solve the problem, they charged me to remove the replaced part and reinstall my original parts. I picked up my vehicle after several more weeks and several thousand dollars more. My check engine light was still on. I took it back a third time. Without much explanation, the shop informed me that my vehicle repairs were complete and that it was ready for pickup. After two starts, my check engine light was back on. I took the vehicle to the dealership's service center for resolution. After working on the vehicle for a day, the technician determined that Prestige had failed to correctly reinstall components on my vehicle, which resulted in all the codes I was getting for check engine. Vehicle dealer's technician replaced missing fasteners, torqued everything down properly, and the error codes all cleared. I have driven the vehicle several hundred miles now without problem. When I went to Prestige to seek resolution (simply to have them pay my costs for the dealer technician to fix their mistakes), they denied any wrongdoing and stated that because I didn't bring the vehicle back to them (for a fourth time), they could not and would not accept responsibility. This behavior is immoral, corrupt, and reprehensible. I would never recommend this establishment. read more
