There are 3 big projects for which we contracted with Zarco Landscaping, because they continually performed above and beyond on the work. The first project was for a room that would flood when it rains. The team at Zarco quickly diagnosed the problem as poor gutter placement and cracks in concrete on the floor above, and they worked rapidly to connect a new sewer system and rebuild our concrete walkway. There has been no more flooding. The second project was to improve the terrain and usability of our backyard, which is on a hill that was very difficult to navigate. The Zarco team completely transformed the area, building stone steps and leveling the land with premium soil, mulch, and stone. Please see the attached photos (we wish we had before pictures, but it was all dirt and invasive plants before on a steep incline)! Lastly, our third project had to be done rapidly after the recent storms in the bay area. We needed three very large and dead trees removed that were at risk of falling on our house or the street. The Zarco team came the next day to remove all of the trees. Overall, the Zarco team has always delivered amazing service and treated us with respect. The prices are also very reasonable and competitive with quotes we received from other businesses. We did not proceed with developing plans, but the verbal estimate to get the work done was going to be $70-100K. We will be spending $30-50K with a different landscaper. So my perception is that Terra Rubina is very expensive. For the $250 bill, I tried to pay by Venmo. Venmo required last 4 digits of phone number in order to process the payment. I emailed asking for the last 4 digits of their phone number and did not hear back, so I didn't pay. Two weeks later I received a very rude and confrontational email hounding me for payment and threatening a late fee. I have seen back yards done by Terra Rubina. They are beautiful. If you want high quality work, and don't mind being bullied, and you're willing to pay a steep price, then maybe Terra Rubina is for you. They're not for me.

We cannot say enough good things about Nato Vargas and his excellent team. They did extensive…read moredrainage work for us in 2014: lowering back garden soil level 4 inches, digging and installing several french drains and installing a sump pump. We've had no water accumulation during subsequent rainy seasons, protecting our foundation. Nato and crew also helped install our beautiful pergola. The back garden is now more than a garden, it's an outdoor living space for entertaining family and friends. In 2017 and 2020, Nato's crew repaired and stained our back garden fence, resurfaced the decomposed granite paths, installed a new mail box, replaced a garden gate and built a wood shelter for our recology bins. 2023 Nato and crew replaced our gas grill line with a fabulous flexible hose that should last forever. Most recently, 2025, Nato and crew replaced and stained most of our back garden fencing and replaced a wooden post providing structural support for our front porch roof. New photos of the back garden are attached to this review. It has been a pleasure working with Nato and his team for over 20 years!
