We bought a 2019 Volvo XC40 (VIN: YV4162XZ6K20000...) from Prestige Volvo in East Hanover, NJ, trusting the Volvo name for safety and reliability. What we received was a lemon that nearly became a coffin for my family--three times. Within weeks of purchase, the vehicle began to shut down while in motion, displaying a false collision warning and cutting fuel to the engine. This terrifying malfunction occurred multiple times. The last incident happened on July 20, 2025, when the car stalled in live traffic on Route 4. My wife was forced to evacuate the disabled vehicle--a life-threatening situation in which she could have been struck by another car. Thanks to the swift response of the Paramus Police Department, she was not hit. Prestige Volvo's response was unacceptable. After a "free" software update, the problem reoccurred within four days. When we brought the car back, they attempted to charge us $750 for diagnostics, then offered to buy it back at a considerably lower price than what we had paid--despite the vehicle being nearly inoperable. Factoring in towing and other expenses, we took a significant financial loss, with no accountability on their part. Given the severity and frequency of the malfunction, it's hard to believe this issue wasn't present at the time of sale. This was a dangerously defective vehicle that should never have been sold. I'm writing this not out of frustration, but out of a sense of ethical duty. If I can help one family avoid this experience, it's worth it. Please think twice before trusting Prestige Volvo with your safety. read more

Prestige Volvo has consistently performed well for us over the 21 years we've been dealing with them. They've serviced my '04 XC90 and my wife's '07 S80 right from original purchase, and we couldn't be happier with the results. After all those years, each car continues to handle superbly in terms of accelerating, braking, steering. Neither has ever required major repair, which speaks to build quality as well as quality and competence of Prestige's service dept. (Also, to be frank, our willingness as owners to adhere to Volvo's recommended servicing schedule.) We plan to keep the '07 for now but I just replaced my '04 XC90 at Prestige with a certified, pre-owned '22 model - and now have updated technology which wasn't available in 2004, including the all-important BLIS system which I believe was invented by Volvo, and their 360-degree view system among other safety features embedded in their cars. In fact, long ago we chose to become Volvo owners first because they've long been the leaders in safety - but also because their cars handle so well, are nice to look at stylistically, and because the interiors are so intelligently designed from both practical and aesthetic perspectives. All that said, what really motivated me to write this review was the quality of service I received from Ryan Wasik in sales at Prestige Volvo. He is a consummate professional in the way he approaches his job, first asking questions to determine what a client wants in a car, and then, in my case, what factors might complicate the transaction. I am a dual resident of Massachusetts and New Jersey, with MA as my primary, legal state of residence. Before I could ask him about potential problems living mostly in one state while purchasing a car in another, Ryan, anticipating the issues, began discussing them one by one - and ended by assuring me he'd done this before and that there were no insurmountable issues. He further assured me that I wouldn't need to involve myself in the nitty gritty details, but that he would personally make sure we ended up where we needed to be. (That turned out to be accurate. Amazingly, I don't think I spent 5 minutes on state to state paperwork or phone calls during the entire process.) After a nearly effortless transaction I took possession of the car, but not before Ryan showed me everything I needed to know about operating it, and worked with me in setting up climate, entertainment and communications systems. I found it all logical and intuitive, but mostly was highly impressed with Ryan's product knowledge. I chose to do this new auto purchase 300 miles away at Prestige - rather than locally near my main home in Massachusetts - because of my years of good experience with this dealer when we were full time NJ residents, and especially considering their rating in the top rank of Volvo service departments nationwide. (Prestige will service the car when we're in NJ each year.) To wrap up this review I'll say that Prestige Volvo is as professional, well-managed an organization today as I found it when a new client over 20 years ago. Highly recommended. read more

I'm not here to throw shade on anybody's business that's not definitely what we about or spread lies in any capacity , this business is very good when it comes to sales , when it comes to service not diligent at all , we purchased a Volvo xc 90 back in August , going November sent my wife for the service which she did afterwards she came back with a check engine light that won't turn off coming from dealer very own body shop service making buzzing sound and check engine on without even notifying what or why on the spot it happened oh I'm pissed off I'm about to have a heart attack but I'm disappointed in myself for always being busy and not being able to attend to this things myself, my only advice to people is this when buying a used vehicle from this dealer make sure you have a extra bucket of cash for waisting because it will be very much needed they aren't diligent at all or care wether or not circumstances involve any negligence on their part or not either way I am certain no one will ever be satisfied with this kind of business behavior and this the kind of conduct and negligence that promotes the downfall of other enterprises in the past, in reality I regret my choice in its entirety sincerely ‍ read more
