When I had a problem with the store with the customer service lady upfront. I tried to take it to Pauls Price chopper main office. This woman be rated me to my face and told me that I did not care about anybody else because I wanted 10 packages of an item that was on sale and they were out of. The entire time that she was writing up the rain check she kept telling me that I was selfish flat out those words. I will admit that I did ask her why she was being a B to me and she said because I was being selfish again. I asked if I could speak to the manager and when she passed me, she Said under her breath, ahole. I have been in there three times since and she has given me dirty looks and I don't even go to Customer Service. That's when she just sees me. It makes me very uncomfortable and not wanting to come to this location again. I can see why they're currently rated only two stars. read more

You tell me if that's cooked or not, before you say "it's hard to tell if chicken is cooked or not" it was slimy and had a... disturbing chicken odor. Chicken that is cooked doesn't smell like that. I'll get my $7.99 back on the meal, but I'm just terrified to get sick with a weak immune system. I know health department won't do anything.. so check your chicken. I avoid going to this Price Chopper if possible. However, it's close to work so today was an exception. First and foremost, if you find yourself here always, always, always check the expiration dates on your purchases. On more than one occasion it wasn't until I got home that I discovered my dairy products to be expired. I was hoping to speak with someone at the seafood counter to buy shrimp but it was a ghost town. Additionally, you'll see the package of shrimp in the photo is past the sell by date. The lights are dim and the employees are nowhere to be found. If you want to find something, you're on your own. Also, if you're looking to find healthy foods or healthy alternatives..this is not your place. There's no selection. They have a huge parking lot out front and a dollar section but I'd rather drive the extra 5-10 minutes out of the way so I don't have to go here. read more

I was in desperate need for some birthday cards for some parties that very evening, so I stopped by Price Chopper to check out their selection. They had a good selection of greeting cards, and I was able to find what I needed. I walked through the aisles for a few minutes. The store seemed out-dated and tired. There's more contemporary Price Chopper's in Lee's Summit. Compared to places such as Trader's Joe's, Price Chopper just wasn't as modern. The bathrooms were clean. The cashier was VERY friendly. The customer front of me talked on her cell phone while checking out, completely ignoring the cashier and her requests see scan her Price Chopper card. The customer then dropped her cell phone on the floor. Even though she had been rude to the cashier, the cashier still genuinely cared and asked if the cell phone was ok. This is the grocery store that is closest to our house, so it's our go-to store for last-minute stuff, but it's certainly not our main grocery store. Why? Mostly selection and partially food-snobbiness on our part. For instance, today we went and my hubby was grousing about how the only organic fruit they have is apples, they have no San Pellegrino water and no non-dairy yogurts. Truly, there are a lot of things that are staples in our house that they simply do not carry and probably never will. Aside from that, the produce is often quite bad. I have gone there to grab an onion for a recipe at the last minute only to find a bin of rotting onions with no good ones to be had. Sometimes other produce items such as lettuce or bananas are past their prime as well. The cashiers here are always friendly. Today we had a conversation with a bakery employee who was very helpful. All in all, I really wish this were a better store, but will continue to shop here occasionally, anyway. read more

I went in recently for the salad bar and was disappointed. It is fairly small and doesn't really offer a lot in terms of toppings. They also don't have open dressings, you have to buy the packets. This particular location doesn't ever seem to be super busy and I think that is because of the location. The intersection where it is (75th and Metcalf) is always busy which makes it hard to get in and out of the parking lot. read more

I have always been a Hy-Vee shopper myself but when I started paying close attention to sales I thought I would try Price Chopper out. So I have just started going in the past couple of months and have had horrible experiences. The nonsale prices are EXTREMELY HIGH..I don't understand how they still have people shopping there. (The items are cheaper at Target, I mean c'mon!) The cashiers have been so rude and I'm pretty sure they hate their jobs. I am a couponer and every time I hand over my coupons it's like I'm committing a crime and they have to call the manager over and they talk about me under their breath. One more thing, why are the cashier desks set up so that you're looking at their backs when you check out. Not all of the stores are like that but I've been to a few different ones..weird! Also the new rewards card is terrible. It has sales to buy 5 bags of lettuce and get the 6th one free. This might just be me but I really don't want 6 bags of lettuce. Then you have to spend 500 dollars in order to get back 10 dollars in groceries. I'm sure it's great if you have a big family but not for me. Anyway, I'm done ranting. I thought HyVee in Mission won top prize for out of stock items, but this place really takes the cake. In general, I try to avoid Price Choppers, but sometimes the same store in a different part of town can be completely different. Not in this case. Produce did not look fresh. Green beans looked like a pile of brown witches fingers. I was going to sub asparagus, but they were not even siting in water and looked dried up as well. There were so many things that they were out of or that they just didn't stock to begin with, that we had to make another stop at Consentino's (where we found all those items) on the way back downtown. Very unprofessisonal management. Post jobs, have prospective individual go through the screening process, call to hire individual, schedule them for a few days, then....complete silence. Try to contact management as to getting scheduled, no response NOTHING!!! Management needs to be trained on proper hiring and firing or releasing employees, not just not schedule them. read more

I like this location. The food is always fresh and the staff is always nice. I usually have Mildred in the deli area help me and she is always suggesting to try different sides. The even let you taste it before you buy which is helpful. The salad bar is always clean and the food never looks old. I really like this location and suggest to everyone to shop here. read more

This store has completely been one of the rudest Price Choppers I have ever visited in my 50 years of life. Stephanie in Customer service and a clerk is always moody and rude. Complained to Sandy the Manager about Stephanie, and then treated like I was full of crap. In no way did she apologize for her employees bad behavior. So obviously that is why it continues. Usually this Manager is pleasant and smiles. I understand these employees may be over worked. I will not visit this store near my home anymore. Enough is enough. I will spend my $700 a month grocery budget elsewhere. I have read so many bad reviews about this Price Chopper. But I like to judge a store myself without judgement. Also noticed some price gauging during the Pandemic March 8 to the 10thish date on 6 pack of Bounty papertowels. Another customer asked me to send her a picture of the sale price for her to report them for price gauging customers. And I did, she didnt have her cell on her possession. Beware of some if their expiration dates. Watch expiration dates esp. On Twix candy, expired 01/2020. There are several employees who are worthy of compliments at this store. Have you read Michael Pollan's books? Specifically "The Omnivore's Dilemma"? If you haven't you should. When Pollan references the typical American grocery store, the one that is filled with processed corn products dressed up as other foods, he could be referencing Price Chopper. What you'll find here are aisles and aisles full of food that isn't really food, rather it is processed corn and soybeans meant to look like food, or put into a box that has a photo of food on the front. If you are wondering what is fueling our nations obesity epidemic, look no further than the Homestyle Bakes, Tuna Helper and Stoffers Frozen Entrees of Price Chopper and its peers. Yuk. While this Price Chopper has a large produce section, it has very little in the way of organic veggies or organic products and the few organic products that they do stock outside of a small refrigerated produce case are of their own generic brand. If you are going to shop here, be prepared to read labels and spend some time navigating between the processed corn and the actual food. You may be asking, why two stars? Three reasons- the incredibly friendly and cheerful employees, the Redbox at the front of the store, and the extensive section of Mexican foods, particularly their large dried chili selection. I'm still exploring grocery stores in this area, but sadly it seems that this store is about in line with the average US grocer. Boo. read more

I am beyond appalled with the food from not only this store but also their store in Roeland Park. Final straw was today. I purchased sour cream and MADE SURE the date was not expired. (too many times I have come across expired food from price chopper) when I opened the sour cream the plastic was still over it, but there was a chunk of pink and a chunk of mold sitting right on top. I called the store and told the guy who answered the phone what had happened. He said I could come in and get a new one if I wanted. He obviously didn't care and was used to this happening. I told him that I didn't want any food from that store and that I would not be returning. Yet again he really didn't care. This Price Chopper is close to our place, so we end up coming here quite a bit. Is it the place we like to go to for specialty items, health food, or the freshest seafood? No. But for the basic staples it does the trick. They have some locally grown produce seasonally, which I like. The people who work there have always been friendly and I can typically get in and out of there pretty quickly, which is a bonus! read more

Sadly this store is going downhill. Twice I've purchased chicken only to find huge hunks of fat under the meat. A pork loin smelled really bad two days after purchase. Vegetables and fruits not lasting more than a day or two. Some of the employees are terrific, but the turnover is disturbing. I've shopped at this location since 1975. Why I do not shop at this store anymore. This is the most convenient store to my home and the handicapped parking on the side is closest to the riding carts, which I need. They have 3 carts for the store, BUT, the riding card are rarely charged very well. if at all. I usually do not make it through the store without having to get a second cart to finish my shopping. The following incidents made me decide to drive farther to shop at stores with more inconvenient parking #1: The employee When I asked a cart attendant if he could bring me a cart because I had to park far from the door, he was very annoyed and took a long time before he came back and told me that there weren't any available. I said I would wait awhile to see if one came back. After a time I drove up to the door and saw a cart was returned. I drove around to the front where the cart person was talking to the employee watering plants outside. I told him a cart was now available, in fact there were two.. and asked if he could bring one to me. I told him where I would park. I waited and waited..after about 10 minutes I drove back around to the side of the store where the carts were kept and there was the attendant setting on one the carts talking on his phone. I told him I would park again..he just gave me a glaring look and sat there for several minutes. On going into the store I noticed that the cart that was there had not been plugged in to charge up. I told him he should plug the cart in and he told me that it was not his job and that I was being disrespectful. He told the manager I was angry and that the manager needed to speak with me. He made a big deal out of it and the manager came to explain that the carts were old and used a lot. I let it go telling the manager that I realized that it was hard to keep the carts charged...thinking I will not let that guy sack my items when checking out. He had sacked my items several times before..pears and bananas in with canned items..ruined the fruit, dropped glass items and broke them.. etc. But I went bacK #2 Not often but several times I have accidentally purchased out of date items. I have gotten moldy cheese and rancid butter. But the meat used to be good. The first time my meat was bad, but the purchase date okayI called and the refunded my money. Great. But When I purchased pork ribs they were bad..the chicken was bad, the hamburger looked good..but when I opened it the inside of the meat was brown and smelly. I called and told them, but I did not have the receipt, but had the items and was told without the receipt they could not refund the money. Hum.. this was not Price Choppers policy. #3 The final straw. My friend and I stopped in front of the store where they keep plants and was looking at the tomato plants to see what kind they had. She did not have her glasses on and was holding them up to the car widow so I could read the tag. A lady waved to me from inside the store and came out and told us to bring them inside to pay for them. My friend said we would. She went back in and came back out and wanted to know where the plants were that we wanted and she would put them in a cart. My friend showed her where set set them on the tray. The employee saw some flowers in the back seat of the car that we had purchased at Westlake a few minutes earlier. She asked where we got them. We told her and she asked to see the receipt for them. Luckily we had it, because she apparently thought we had stolen them. Good bye price chopper. read more
