I'm embarrassed to admit that my husband and I did not do our due diligence when we were engagement ring shopping ten years ago. I was having difficulty getting the diamond and ring design I wanted for the price we were willing to pay. After being disappointed by several jewelers who gave us realistic expectations, I shared with my co-worker our troubles. He referred us to Prim Jewelers. After we met with them, we were ecstatic. They were going to give us what I wanted at an affordable price. Now I know why: I've wanted to trade-in my engagement ring for a new diamond and setting. I started researching how much we could get for it and discovered that my diamond is EGL INTERNATIONAL certified. As you may know, the lab has received criticism for diamond over grading and shut down in 2014 to save their reputation. Our "F" color "VS2" clarity diamond is, in reality, an "H" color "SI2/3" at best under GIA standards. We totally overpaid Prim Jewelers for an inferior product. As one reputable jeweler stated, "EGL certificates originating from Israel, Europe, or elsewhere other than New York and Los Angeles are for all intents and purposes fraudulent." I tried to verify the diamond certificate online recently. Maybe it's because they're out of business, but the certificate number could not be found. I will probably get next to nothing for this diamond and need to pay full price for a quality GIA-certified engagement ring. Thankfully my husband and I are in a better place financially to do so. Hard lesson learned. Prim Jewelers should be ashamed of this practice. read more

I have lived in Orange over 40 years and it wasn't until recently I discovered a "gem" of jeweler right in my neighborhood! I had several treasured rings I had acquired over time, and now they all were just a bit too tight. I met with Sossie and gave her one ring to begin with, and after being both pleased with the price and workmanship, I brought in 7 more rings to size. Sossie gave me a great price to size the lot, and all rings were completed in a week. Prim Jewelers also buys gold, so I went through a lot of my necklaces, bracelets and rings that did not "spark joy" anymore, and showed them to Sossi. The price of gold is quite high currently and she bought every piece I brought, for a very fair price. I highly recommend Prim Jewelers.....I just wish I ventured into their store years ago! read more

I was a customer of Prim for many years, but no more. The band my husband had custom made and the halo set 2.68 solitaire were anniversary gifts. The bands diamonds constantly fall out. When I returned to the store- they charged me to replace the stones. The halo design literally broke like you see on the picture after one year. Thankfully it happened at home and I found my diamond. I took both pieces to other jewelers for a second and third opinions to be fair. Both said it was poor workmanship and the design of the band was flawed so the diamonds will keep falling out. The other jewelers couldn't believe Prim would put such a large diamond halo in such weak prongs. I never went back to get either fixed. They are smooth talkers, but not very honest in my opinion. My parents have used Prim for years and took me there when I was looking for an engagement ring. Sossie picked out a couple of diamonds for us to look at and they were gorgeous. We picked out a diamond pretty quick and started going over the styling. She was very helpful, and diplomatic, during the process, and really made sure that we were all on the same page. When I finally proposed, my girlfriend was stunned. It is just a perfect ring. She kept pointing out little things saying "I like how you chose to do this this way," etc, but really it was just Sossie knowing what looked good and making the ring that way.
