I visited this place today on a huge time crunch. I called the schedule a reservation then called to cancel half (was going to get a mani-pedi, then just a pedi) because I was running late. The woman said don't worry I'll be out of there when I needed to be. At first it had me worried because I didn't want the nail job to look rushed. Well this is the first time I've EVER felt so catered to in my life. The women were all prepared when I got there and I was pampered the whole way. While I was getting a pedicure another woman started on my nails. It did not feel rushed at all! And I'm beyond happy with the results. As many others I see in the reviews, I had a horrible experience with the staff and the worst manicure I have ever received. I expected high quality work and service for what they charge. The manicure itself was very poorly done and several women had to keep correcting the others work on my nails because they all seemed to have no idea what they were doing, I had acrylics falling off repeatedly as they tried to work, and the paint was very cheap and chipped off immediately. The salon was empty, yet no one was interested in assisting me with anything, speaking to me, etc. I was very uncomfortable and unsatisfied the entire time, and they just continued to ignore that as I very much expressed my concern with what they were doing and how painful it was. My friend and I picked Prim because she had been there before (really liking her experience) and it's five minutes from her house. We had a great time. This was my first time to this Prim Nail Spa. I came here because my mother in law had made appointments for her manicure and find out they also did hair so I gave it a try. The hair service was being done in a seperate room and the girl who worked on my hair was Ji Yeon Park(real name) and Angie Park(working name). I am actually unsure if she is even licensed because she burnt my face. First of all, I feel like it really requires a HIGH level of incompetence to burn someone's face while curling their hair for a very simple hairdo....Secondly, when hot iron touched the side of my face - she did not immediately apologize. In fact, after I yelped out in pain, she continued to curl my hair as if nothing had happened. At which point, I started telling her that her response was absolutely inadequate and that she better hope my face does not turn into a blister. I now have a purple mark on my face. Before leaving the place I ask to see her license and it didn't even have a picture. I also been looking online to even see if she is certified. If you check on the website https://www.dllr.state.md.us/license/cos. you can check if someone is actually licensed and she is NOT. and clearly not competent enough to curl someone's hair without touching their face with the curling iron. I would say that the girl who worked on my hair should have her license revoked...except that she's not even licensed!!! In fact, I am not even sure how Prim Nail Spa is legal and open with unlicensed workers when the Department of Labor, Licensing & Regulation. states that: Anyone who provides hairdressing and styling, haircutting, shaving, manicuring, removing unwanted hair, skin care, and the application of cosmetics for a fee must be licensed by the Board. To become licensed, individuals must complete an approved amount of coursework and practical training and pass a national written and hands-on exam. After years of going to hair salons, never in a million years would I ever even have fathomed that I would get my face burnt while getting my hair curled. I couldn't even fathom that level of incompetence. So this is my warning to all of you... DO NOT SET FOOT in this unlicensed incompetent Prim Nail Spa. It's not just about hair preference or customers dissatisfaction...clearly, the level of incompetence at this Prim Nail Spa is so high that it is a safety hazard. read more

First visit for a gel mani and a pedi. First of all, my toes were cut...twice!! Two days after the mani the gel polish completely lifted off one of my nails. This was the Sat. prior to Mother's Day. Although I called the salon that morning requesting a repair, I never got a call back. I had to scramble to find another salon to squeeze me in...NOT easy on Mother's Day weekend! Horrible experience. Kim was so rough with my nails, she used a nail file and metal tool to scrape off easy to remove gel nails from my previous salon. I have never experienced this at any other salon. Typically, after the gel has been in the foil the nail technician scrapes them off with her fingernails. This hurt so bad! Communication was poor and neither I or the technician could understand one another. The end results was awful! The gel was all over my skin and started peeling the same day. I will never return and was even thinking of asking for my money back, but thought that would be more hassle than it was worth. When I went back to my regular nail salon, the technical said "what did you do to your nails, they are so weak and damaged?!". It truly was the most awful nail experience! P.S. they charge you extra to remove polish that wasn't put on by them...not the most logical approach to attract new customers or realistic since the salon was only open for 3 weeks. read more

I went to Prim Spa three times. The first time I had Clara, and the services (manicure and pedicure) were great! She is wonderful, and the nail polish lasted a long time! The following two times it was a different person. She was wonderful but the polish lasted about one week less. What really knocked this review is the prices. I paid about $30 more than what I usually pay at a nail salon. The prices charged are resort prices, not a strip mall place in Glenelg. Unless you are strapped for time and live nearby, there are better options, including Pro Nails by Eggspectations or The Pearl Spa if you want to be fancy. read more

These ladies do a wonderful job! The facility is very clean and pleasantly decorated. My husband and I go almost every other week. I don't personally think they are any more expensive than nail salons in any city. There is usually not a wait to be seen, and the services are thorough, friendly and professional. This place is very pretty and very clean, but that is all it has going for it. The pedicure was not very good ,my cuticles were not cleaned up as I am used to getting at my regular nail salon and the polish job was terrible, I had to go home and repaint them. I had asked her not to buff my nails and she buffed them all, and I had asked for square nails and she curved them. I also had a problem with all the girls speaking whatever language that they speak to each other in excess. I felt that was very rude. The girls seemed to be nice. I have had both good and bad experiences here at Prim. The majority of my nail experiences were good but after the most recent, I don't think I'll be returning. Yunice did my nails with a full set and I loved them. I went back a few weeks later to have the nails taken off and new gel added instead of doing a fill in because I damaged the tips. I explained this to Clara when I went back because Yunice was not there. She removed MOST of the gel and then went to redo my nails...I left looking like I had two nails on top of one another because she didn't file it down. After leaving I noticed from the other side of my hand how it looked. I went back the next day to request a refund and the nails removed because I didn't have time to have them redone. They informed me they could not both remove the nails and refund my money so I chose the refund. I don't understand this policy because they had to be removed somewhere else at an extra charge just to start from scratch and get what I originally came in for. Unfortunately, this was just enough to deter me from returning. I would try somewhere else, because not only is the menu pricey, the services can be hit or miss. read more

I bought a $45 gift certificate for my daughter. She went in for a pedi/mani and after was charged $150 on top of the gift card amount! When she asked why the charge was so much, she was told she got the "UV Light". She said she didn't ask for a UV light but they insisted she got it and had to pay for it. They took advantage of a young person and, I believe, they didn't honor the gift certificate. If you go here, watch out for upcharges and be very specific about what services you agree to. Had one of THE worst manis ever here! Asked for a gel manicure. I've never had so much confusion over a gel mani. The technician spoke little English, and none of the other "not very busy" staff offered to assist! She kept asking if I wanted the UV gel manicure or the regular gel manicure. She couldn't explain the difference, but continued to ask me about 10 times. Finally, she pulled out a list of their services and started pointing at options. The UV mani was $80. Maybe it's worth it, but I still don't know what it is! The technician was very frustrated with MY inability to communicate with her. She took out her frustration by filing my nails so hard that it hurt. Then I requested a floral design on my ring finger. She drew a kindergarten type daisy. Five dots of yellow with an orange dot in the middle and a green stem. Really?? If you don't know how to do nail art, just say so! I've been to Prim before because it's convenient, but I'll never go back after my experience today. While receiving a pedicure the nail technician rubbed the skin off the side of my foot. I let her know she was hurting me. Upon realizing there was now an open wound that was beginning to bleed she took a bottle of blue stuff and poured it on which burned tremendously the remainder of my pedicure. I asked her what the blue stuff was and she didn't know. I'm 8 months pregnant so I'm always concerned what products I'm using and asked her to find another bottle so I could read the ingredients (alcohol was one which would explain the burning). An hour later my foot is still burning and the irritation and redness is spreading on my food. I immediately went to the pharmacy to purchase antibiotic cream to ensure it does not become infected. I certainly don't think she intended to cause the injury, but the careless nature of her work led to what was a painful experience that I still just paid full price to receive.
