I recently moved to the DMV from NY for school and decided to go with her salon because I wanted to support a small business and the other reviews were great! Booking the appointment was seamless. Annum was able to accommodate an earlier appointment time for me since I had a scheduled meeting later that afternoon. I visited her almost a month ago on April 6th, 2021 so here is my comprehensive review. My balayage took a little under 1.5 hours to complete. She was very efficient while also ensuring that my hair retained its natural moisture and health. She made sure that she respected my time due to my meeting later that evening. When I returned home, I did notice that the toner didn't take on a small but noticeable section of my hair that was noticeably blonde. I immediately texted Annum to let her know and she squeezed me in the same day to reapply the toner for the area, which was a very quick fix. Not every hair stylist would show this level of dedication to ensure that I had the best experience. After a month, the color has held up beautifully and I've received endless compliments on her work. In terms of parking, there are public parking garages on the same street that are affordable and accessible (~$1.25/hr). Highly recommend booking her, she's very professional, honest, and genuinely takes care of her clients! Support your small businesses and book her!!

Long story short, I came to Annum after nearly 2 years of not letting anyone touch my hair because of a disaster that left me in tears with shoulder length hair when I was supposed to only get an inch off my super long hair (obvs, this wasn't her who did it). Now I literally only trust Annum to do my hair and recommend her to all my coworkers, friends, and family. Not only is she precise with all her cuts and color, she can also recommend what she thinks will be flattering for you which is especially nice for people who may not come in with inspo pictures. After she brought life back to my sad hair, I trusted her to finally go ahead and give me some color with a balayage. I haven't looked back since then and have only been going lighter with each visit! The best part is that even several months later, my balayage looks fresh and perfect despite my hair growing out. I personally give her creative freedom and trust her with whatever color she thinks is gonna look great on me but you can always bring/show her what you want and she'll recreate it to the best of her abilities! Remember folks, every artist is different and uses different techniques so an exact recreation isn't really possible. She's great at listening to what you want while also protecting your hair from any unnecessary damage and if you aren't happy with it (which I'm sure is rare) she'll fix it! Annum herself is a delight to come in and see. She's always so sweet and sociable - it's always fun to talk to her while she's working her magic on my locks! I appreciate that she has her own private suite in a salon with other artists which does make her hijabi friendly BUT bear in mind that there are men who will walk around as they probably work there too. I have hijabi friends who don't see this as a problem but to each their own. In terms of pricing, I think her rates are very fair especially considering what some other salons (super side-eye to yall) charge for balayages and color services that aren't even close to beauty that she creates. Again, bear in mind that while it isn't cheap - no hair stylist gives you a refund for services already done! Common sense right? Apparently not. Like I said before, if you aren't happy for whatever reason; let her know and she'll fix it. You'll be hard pressed to try and find ANY salon or stylist that'll refund you for any reason. Booking is easy but she does book super fast so make sure you make your appts well in advance! My thick desi hair won't let anyone else touch it so seriously, treat yoself and get your hair blessed by Annum and her magical hands!

I went from cutting my locs of 16 years to coming in for a Brazilian blowout and pixie cut. She skipped the last 3 steps of the brazilian blowout, cut my hair in the shape of a 70s Afro instead of pixie and didn't seal the style so my hair was ruined within 30 minutes of being outside directly after my appointment. There are quite a few things wrong with my experience. She was aware the brazilian was not done correctly and said she was willing to go over the areas that were not done correctly. When I mentioned how the cut was wrong her reply was, "I did the best I could". She did not mention how my hair was so badly damaged but said that is why certain parts are too short, when they were no were near that short when I came in. She told me to come in to get it fixed but also tried to make me get a hair treatment and when I denied she was conveniently unable to answer her phone or return my call/message so my hair was never fixed. She also waited until I was halfway through my hair appointment to tell me that she normally charges $450 for a Brazilian but because I have LITERALLY one inch of hair she did it for $300. After the product is put in the hair, it is supposed to be blow dried and then flat iron and then rinsed and then style. However, she did not rinse it, but the flat iron after the blow dry of the initial Brazilian product was how she finished my hair. And then told me afterwards that my hair texture takes better that way, which I find hard to believe. Bad experience once I got the true results. Do not recommend. Very money hungry lady that appears friendly and well meaning. She also gave me a warning that she is not gentle so yes, she yanked my hair plenty of times. I was patient while in the chair but now I'm actually furious about my experience, lack of customer service and transparency.

Once I came in she actually recommended doing partial highlights instead, since it would be healthier for my ends (which were still dyed from the last balayage) but still grow out naturally. Just staring until one finally said "someone will be with you". My stylist herself was fine, but didn't ask for inspiration pictures or ask many questions. I booked a partial highlight no cut because Im used to a highlight and cut being 2-3 hours at my former salon due to my thick, fine hair. Imagine my surprise when I am rushed through and my highlight, processing, washing, drying and curling all in 1 hour and 15 minutes. It felt like the Jiffy Lube of salon service and definitely did not resemble good customer service or hospitality. I left feeling like I was an inconvenience to them. Overall I was not wow'd by my result, but the price point was solid. I waited to post this experience which was in May, because I tried a new salon after, to see if maybe I was overreacting to my rushed experience at Bombshell. I was not. My experience at another local salon was about 3 hours for all parts of a partial highlight and a quick dead end trim. My stylist there was brand new to me but took time to hear my wants and to make sure I left satisfied.
