Cozy and cute little coffee shop in a strip mall. My family is so glad we ventured here during our time in Boise! Service was friendly and nice. Husband and I got a breakfast sandwich. The egg is served poached but can be served as hard boiled if requested (thank you!). They had run out of their good bread, so we just got sliced sandwich bread (my advice would be to expect this if you are getting the breakfast sandwich during lunch hours). The sandwich itself was delicious and had lots of layers and a kick of spice with the Chipotle sauce. Would definitely order again! Oh, and the primal latte is DELICIOUS! The cinnamon on top is a nice twist to such a classic drink. P.S. the mugs are beautiful ! I would have loved to purchase one if I wasn't traveling

Breakfast sandwich minus avocado as they were out. It's a cheese crusted croissant too! Mmmm

Super tasty coffee and food! Oh my Lanta... The breakfast sandwich is freaking mouthwatering! Every single bite I just kept saying wow... wow... mmm! WTH mmmm!!!! Even my husband's coffee, the Primal Coffee, was absolutely amazing and I actually should've gotten that. Ha! We usually don't like the same things but wow. It came out and was just right, as was my vanilla latte! Service was chill. Thanks!

Not sure why it took me so long to get here - they had been open 8 months by this point! But thanks to a reminder and a friend's gift card I finally went, and it was not a disappointment! It's slightly hidden if you don't know it's there - like diagonal across the street from STIL. My favorite marker moving forward is the rad Datsun truck that says "not powered by Dutch Bros." The vibe inside is exactly my favorite aesthetic - chill, industrial with exposed wood and some piping. It's very speakeasy and has its own unique accents with the guitars for sale, as it's also part music store. The seating is so cool too - there's tables per usual but also this corner area that's cozy and also makes sense for the space. Lots to look at too, which my one-year-old loved. So get the primal coffee, which legit every person can in after me said to get or got for themselves. If you're more a latte gal, get the vegan primal latte. The housemade cream is oat milk-based and DELICIOUS. I didn't get food this time, so this review is based on drink and ambiance. The baristas/founder were so chill too. You can tell they value their patrons, know coffee, and respect the craft. I think they're at the Saturday market too, so I'll catch them there as well. Will definitely go back - don't sleep on this place! Also, Yelp says they're closed Sundays but their hours on the door said 8-1:30 Sundays!

It's always a treat when you get to visit the spot you wonder about but have to keep passing up due to always having somewhere to be. But Primal Coffee is a place to just BE. And once I got there, I'll keep getting there. The coffee is inventive and curated. I like my coffee black but even I appreciate the uniqueness of the namesake coffee. Primal coffee has condensed milk in it and boy am I glad that's made the leap from coffee relegated to other cuisines and landed in Boise. Decor is eclectic and calming. The space is small but cozy. Be warned that if you roll in on a Saturday morning you'll have a lot of company. They serve coffee in specialty mugs. The owner makes his own chai that's ginger-forward in a wild way. Service is quick and friendly. The purveyor will explain menu items and may even surprise you with a taste test. If you want to keep your coffee joint local, Primal is it.

Pics don't do it justice. Just do yourself a favor & come in and feel it for yourself.

This cozy, hip atmosphere and absolutely delicious food makes me wish I could give them 10 gold stars The breakfast Sandi is the best I've ever had, drip coffee approved by husband and niece who are coffee drinkers. I had the dog lifter tea and it's perfection. I'd share pics but we wolfed the Sandi down so quickly all that's left is and empty plate!

Tiny but tasty! House roasted beans and a funky, cozy spot. Every time I've been in, it's been delicious.

The quality of the ingredients and the thoughtful flavor combinations truly set this spot apart. For my main course, I ordered a classic turkey, cheese, lettuce, and tomato sandwich served on their incredible Gaston's bakery ciabatta bread. The bread was perfectly baked with a wonderful texture that elevated the entire sandwich. I paired it with the tomato basil soup, which was rich, deeply flavorful, and served as the perfect savory dip for my sandwich. To complete the meal, I tried the blackberry lemonade. It was incredibly refreshing, perfectly balanced, and absolutely delicious. The staff was welcoming, and the atmosphere was clean and inviting. It was pretty good but not like any banh mi I've had at all. No pickled veggies and the sandwich bread was a far cry from a banh mi baguette. Great bread though! I just thought the name was very misleading and it would've been better to just call it a massaman curry sandwich. I really liked the spiced yam slices, but I felt like the peanut butter almost overpowered the yam sometimes. Could've been lighter on the PB. I ordered the combo meal which was supposed to be a 1/2 sandwich plus a side. If the sandwich portion I got was only a half, then the full size must be huge. I kind of suspect I got a full sandwich. I had the beet salad for my side. It was tasty and fresh, and also pretty sizeable. The staff were friendly and enthusiastic. The wait time for food was reasonable given that they seemed busy. The loft seating was nice.

He was very informative about where to go and places to check out in Boise. I ordered one of the local beers and their flagship meal, the Santa Maria Tri Tip Sandwich. As you can see by looking at the photos, the tri-tip was cooked to perfection. It had tomatoes, poblano, and chimichurri sauce on it to add to the flavors of the tri-tip. The bread consistency was great, not too soggy, and with a great crispy texture. I wish they had spread the tri-tip out more to make sure every bite was being celebrated. I also ordered the mac and cheese as the side per the instructions of the bartender, James. Let me say that was one of the best mac and cheeses that I have ever had. Truly amazing creamy texture and full of rich flavor. Everything melted in your mouth. Definitely worth it. I eventually ended up talking to a fellow bar sitter, and he ended up being the co-owner of the place, TJ. He also filled me in on the places to go and, most definitely, the places to travel to, to experience great beer. He was refreshing to talk to since most people don't have the passion for beer that we both represent. I would highly recommend this place for the staff that is there the solid pub style restaurant that they have created. Super easy and relaxed kinda of place.

I came here for a late lunch around 2 pm after arriving in Boise. They weren't crowded at this point but business wasn't dead either. My waitress was very friendly. Inside has a lived-in, intimate feel, but it was pretty dark, so much that I wasn't sure they were actually open as I was opening the door. I had the French dip sandwich with a side of tomato basil soup. The sandwich was delicious and tasted homemade in the best way. The "meat" of the sandwich was seitan. I don't THINK it was a perfect meat replica (but I've never had a real French dip), but it was very flavourful. I loved the flavour and the thick cut of their bread, but it didn't have much structure and fell apart easily as I was eating which made the sandwich very messy. The tomato basil soup was a little different. It was slightly creamy but brothy and a little chunky - not a smooth puree. Again, it tasted great and was nice and light, which was a good contrast to the very rich sandwich. It was a little slow, especially considering they weren't that busy. I didn't really mind since I wasn't on a schedule, but this is something to be aware of - don't come here for a quick meal. Not cheap, but worth it for the quality.
