Primal Steakhouse has been going strong for 16 years in Vegas, but it is new to The Colony since January 2026. The gimmick is pretty cool with a viking theme. There were heavy swords and helmets up front where you can take pictures with them. The dripping taper candles gave the place an eerie feel. The drinks are cleverly named to match the theme. We had a variety of food and would come back to try other items. Here's my opinion on the food and cocktails we ordered: Emerald Serpent - If you like spicy drinks, this is the one for you. It'll give you chills up and down your spine. Viking Punch - This drink was fun - bubbly (possibly nitrogen or dry ice?), strong, and slightly sweet. I felt like a real viking drinking from the Gjallarhorn. Sourdough Toast and Bacon Jam - The absolute best part of the meal!! I still cannot believe the bread is sourdough because it was light, airy, and perfect. It tasted like a heavily buttered Texas toast. Is it really sourdough?? Yum! The Bacon Jam was good with it being slightly sweet. Ceviche - The fried plantains were nicely seasoned but clashed with the subtle fish ceviche. The ceviche needed more flavor - more salt, more lime, more of a kick. Lobster Bisque - The soup was extremely salty so I only had a couple of sips/bites. The lobster chunks were decent and the bread was good. 16 Ounce New York Strip (ran out of 24 Ounce Dry Aged Strip) - It was cooked perfectly medium rare, but the cut itself wasn't the most tender. Baked Potato - It was topped with REAL bacon and not bacon bits so that was a delight. It could have used more course sea salt on the outside. Brussel Sprouts - This was a fantastic side and I highly recommend it. Get your serving of veggies in, people! Risotto - I thought it was creamy, but the flavor was interesting. Not my favorite but my companion liked it the most. Bourbon Peach Cobbler - I liked the pecan ice cream but wished the cobbler had more dough sprinkled on top. The brown sugar was very present. French Macaron - It was a pink and green capped macaron (thought it would be watermelon flavor) but tasted like banana. Yum! The highlight of the night was the staff. I called to notify them we were running late for our reservation and they were accommodating. The hostesses were polite when we reached the host stand. Our server was spectacular as she checked up on us multiple times though it was obvious she was busy (packed house on a Saturday evening). Everyone helped out clearing our table including the manager. We were honest about the Lobster Bisque being too salty and they took care of it. Didn't expect it but that was a super sweet gesture. Because of their actions, we would definitely come back to try different drinks, non-steak entrees, and other sides. Thanks for being so hospitable!

My experience at Primal Steakhouse was phenomenal. The bartender and the young man that assisted us were very knowledgeable about the establishment and the menu options. We ordered the crap cakes for an appetizer (3/5). For dinner I ordered the 8 oz filet mignon with garlic mashed potatoes and hubby ordered the 16 oz prime smoked New York steak and mushrooms (5/5). We ordered the chocolate lava cake to go, but I wasn't impressed. The drinks were a show all their own (see my attached photos and videos). I had The Red Wedding, and hubby ordered the King's Elixir, a creative take on a smoked Old Fashioned (5/5). Overall, the service, the drinks, the steaks and the sides were all amazing. They fell short on the crap cakes and the chocolate lava cake. Would I return again, ABSOLUTELY!

I meet a friend that is a fellow yelper at Primal Steakhouse for happy hour. I was glad to get the invite because I hadn't heard about the place and it's close to my job. The ambiance is a dark moody medieval castle type feel. It's casual and welcoming. We arrived early for happy hour at 4:30pm and went to the bar. We were served by Hailey. She was wonderful explaining the drinks and they all came with a show. I decided to go with the drink similar to a smoky old fashioned, kings elixor. I enjoyed the smoky part of the presentation of the drink and the flavor that it left in the drink. It was strong and tasty and the perfect spin on an old fashioned. They served Texas toast with a roasted marinara jam sauce. It was delicious. I wish they would have brought a second serving of that. We got the crab cakes and the garlic shrimp. I thought both were ok but both could have been spicier and more flavorful. I think either could have taken a Cajun or more garlic spin and set them off. Overall the drinks are perfect and the food has room for improvement.

Primal comes to us from Las Vegas. Welcome to TEXAS! The atmosphere is dramatic and the ambiance is modern, but classic and chic. It's DARK, SEXY, MYSTERIOUS and COOL! Think knights in shining armor and castle vibes. I love the red decor as it's bright, but sophisticated at the same time. I like the medieval theme makes it look exciting. We decided to visit for my favorite HOUR. They offer great HAPPY HOUR specials on appetizers and cocktails. It was a pleasurable time. My HAPPY HOUR experience was so AMAZING! I was feeling happy and satisfied. Once I got use to the idea of dark and dim lighting. I met up with my SOUL sister a fellow yelper to share the NEW experience. We sat at the bar and ordered appetizers and cocktails. The bartender was GREAT. Hailey was so friendly, helpful, fun and polished. She also makes some of the best DAMN DRINKS! Her customer service skills are on point and her drink making skills are perfect. The drink presentations are FIRE! Definitely theatrical and photo/video worthy. I was impressed with all the drinks and presentations. Up first was the Viking Punch and it comes in a cool Viking horn glass. It's a mix of Ketel One Peach Orange Blossom, Black Infusions Apricot, Sour, OJ, Cranberry, Absinthe. It was FANTASTIC! Next was the Kings Elixor which has Bourbon, Cocktail & Sons Spiced Demerara, Lemon Bitters, Woodchip Smoke Infusion. It was DIVINE! My favorite was the RED Wedding Cocktail! It is made with Ciroc Limonata, Pallini Limoncello, Lemon Juice, Raspberry Puree. Down right heavenly and delicious. YUM! Honorable Mention is the Sangria. Presentation is cool with the fire, but this drink is STRONG. It's not your average Sangria. For food we tried the crab cakes first. They were tasty and full of crab meat. I appreciated that the crab cakes weren't full of fillers and had actual CRAB. It came with two sauces a mango salsa and a spicy dip. Next we tried the shrimp appetizer. The shrimp were HUGE. They lacked in flavor though. I didn't care for them. These need a revamp something is off with the sauce and seasoning. We also had some soft toast with the most scrumptious tomato bacon jam. The jam was smoky and unique. It was different, but really good. All of the staff were friendly. We met the manager and chef. They were all nice and welcoming. I had a wonderful time and will be back for drinks and to try an entree. They passed the testing phase for me. Wishing them much success! They are definitely developing the concept and determined to make it better and better. They will be adding on an additional room that will feel like a speakeasy. Also on the weekends they offer live entertainment. Make those reservations and go explore the menu.

New spot just opened and we were ready to try it. We had been keeping an eye on it and finally made it in. I arrived a little early and there were a few guys waiting ahead of me. I'm not sure if there was some confusion, but I wasn't acknowledged at first. Thankfully another staff member came over shortly after, got me checked in, and was very kind. From there, things definitely turned around. I was seated first, and our server was incredibly polite and welcoming. They started us off with complimentary bread and a tomato jam that was a really nice touch and honestly delicious. Once my friend arrived, we ordered the bone marrow appetizer. It looked beautiful when it came out, but there wasn't much marrow to actually enjoy. It was a bit dried out, so while the presentation was great, it didn't quite live up to the price. For my main, I went with the Delmonico steak. It was a generous portion and definitely on the pricier side. It was cooked well, just not as flavorful as I had hoped for. The side sauces were a nice addition but for an extra charge. We also shared the lobster Mac and cheese- very rich and luxurious- $25, large bowl of it. Buttery, cheesy and divine. We wrapped things up with the peach cobbler. It was decent, but the peaches could have been softer to really make it shine. Where this place truly stands out is the service. Multiple staff members checked in on us throughout the meal, and everyone was attentive, friendly, and professional. The space itself is also really nice and has a great atmosphere. Overall, a solid experience with some highlights and a few things that could be refined, but the service alone makes it worth a visit.

Edit to add: What made this experience even more disappointing was the response I received after leaving my review on another platform. Instead of professionally addressing the concerns about the food and service, someone associated with the restaurant chose to respond with personal insults, calling me a "Karen," mocking my review, and making condescending comments rather than attempting to resolve the issues. Constructive criticism should be met with professionalism, especially at a restaurant presenting itself as upscale. The rude and defensive response only reinforced my negative experience and confirmed that customer feedback is clearly not valued here. Attached photos will show attack. 2 people -- $280 with tip What we ordered: - Starry and Winter Is Coming drinks - Crab cakes - Two 8oz filets - One lobster tail - Lobster mac and cheese - Molten lava cake Our server James was wonderful, and the live singer was amazing, but unfortunately that's where the experience stopped being anywhere close to good. We go to many "upscale" steakhouses and have never walked into one looking nice just to see so many people in beach wear, flip flops, and sandals with no dress code enforcement at all. The tables were also packed so closely together that our waiter could not fit between them. Was not worth the money. We went last night and, overall, the experience was very disappointing. The ambiance was medieval-style and only lit by candles, which could have been nice, but it was completely thrown off by loud blaring country music until the live singer showed up. Thankfully, she was fantastic. The food had multiple issues throughout the night. The crab cakes were lukewarm, not hot at all. The steaks arrived charred, almost burnt on the outside, but rare on the inside. We sent them back to be cooked to the correct temperature (medium), and while they did come back medium inside, they were still burnt on the outside. The lobster mac and cheese even had pieces of shell inside it. Dessert was also disappointing. The molten lava cake was broken and leaking before it even reached the table. Then, table-side, they sprayed what appeared to be lighter fluid from a misting bottle onto one side of the plate and cake. That side of the cake tasted bad, while the other side somehow tasted sugar-free. Service was extremely slow as well. We arrived at 5:15 and did not leave until almost 7 because it took so long for every course to come out. We were literally waiting on each item the entire evening. For $280, we honestly could have gotten better quality steaks and food from Texas Roadhouse.

My husband and I recently had the pleasure of dining at Primal Steakhouse, and I can honestly say it was one of the best dining experiences we've had in a long time. From the moment we walked in, the service was absolutely exceptional. The staff was attentive, welcoming, and genuinely seemed to care about making sure we had a great experience. It's rare to find service that feels this polished yet still warm and authentic. Our server Steve was absolutely incredible and recommended amazing dishes! Now let's talk about the food. It was incredible. We both ordered steaks, and they were cooked perfectly. Not just "good," but exactly the way a steak should be done. Both cuts were thick, plump, and unbelievably tender. Every bite was flavorful and juicy, and you could really tell the quality of the meat was top tier. I've seen a few reviews mentioning that the price point is high for what you get, but I completely disagree. When you consider the quality of the food, the preparation, and the outstanding service, the pricing feels justified. A great steakhouse experience is about more than just the plate in front of you, it's the entire experience, and Primal absolutely delivers on that. Fair warning though, they do it "Vegas style" meaning there is a 18% service fee NOT INCLUDING TIP. So be fair to warned of that. I don't think that will blow over well here in Texas but nonetheless, just be aware of that. Another thing I appreciated was that the menu has options for everyone. Whether you're a serious steak lover or just looking for a great meal out, there's something you'll enjoy. What makes it even more impressive is that they've only been open for about 25 days (give or take). If this is the level they're already operating at so early on, I can only imagine how great it will become as it continues to grow and settle in. We will absolutely be coming back, and I'm excited to watch Primal Steakhouse grow into what I believe will become one of the standout dining spots in the area. If you're considering trying it, do yourself a favor and go. You won't regret it.

Dallas has a new steak player in town, and the experience was primal. The ambiance was that of a medieval castle - dimly lit (with real wax candles), a little intimate, and a bit entertaining. I see this as a place you could take a date, a family, or a party. I was part of a bachelor party. I got my palate started with the French onion soup. For my steak, I chose the 12oz Capp steak. The quality of the steak was top notch and it was perfectly seasoned and cooked. I selected a baked potato for my side and my mind keeps going back to the smoky pieces of bacon in it. Our server was attentive and the overall service & experience met my expectations of a high-end dining establishment. I even got a bit of a chuckle when I got to select my steak knife. Tl;dr: I walked in with high expectations and they were all met... and then some.

I rarely give negative reviews but I will make an exception for this place. For a "high end steakhouse" (their website), this is probably the WORST one I've ever been to, especially considering the price on some of these items. I didn't rate the Service nor Atmosphere because if the food is terrible, it doesn't matter if those things are 5 star. I ordered the Delmonico steak. Google's definition of a Delmonico is: "A THICK-CUT, PREMIUM steak popularized by Delmonico's restaurant, traditionally from the rib or short loin, often resembling a THICK RIBEYE or strip steak with rich marbling." Do my pictures look like this was a THICK-CUT, PREMIUM ribeye? It was also the most 'gristly' piece of meat I've ever had. The ASPARAGUS is nearly as thick as the STEAK--that's supposed to be a 'thick-cut' RIBEYE!!! Additionally, it was barely lukewarm. You know how you get a plate from any other 'high end steakhouse' and the steak and the plate itself is sizzling (think Ruth's Chris), don't expect that here. It was awful! The only reason I brought it home is because if I spend $68 on a piece of meat, I'm going to eat it! And check out the greasy fingerprints on the take-home box. Those were from the guy who boxed it for me. If my three Dobermans were still alive and I tried to feed them this steak, they would have probably BIT ME for giving such a terrible piece of meat! You can get a much better, consistently good steak at Texas Roadhouse for $28, including sides--no exaggeration whatsoever! I've had better steaks when I order steak and eggs at WAFFLE HOUSE!!! I'm not kidding either. And here's the kicker, one of the cooks, came out to the bar to get himself a drink (alcohol) the bartender poured him. You will NEVER see that at a 'high end steakhouse.' Don't even get me started on the drinks poured in horns and goblets like you are at Medieval Times. For a minute there, I though there was going to be jousting and sword fighting in the dining room. It was almost comedic. The bar is terrible in more ways than one, I won't even get into that. And finally, this has nothing to do with them being open for 'only a few weeks' because if they are serving 0.5" thick ribeyes like the garbage they sold me, and trying to pass them off as PRIME cuts, nothing will fix them except new ownership and management. If you want to drop some coin on a steakhouse, go ANYWHERE but this place. You have D Lincoln Prime, III Forks and Flemings just a five minute drive down the street. You'll pay the same price for food and drinks, but you will have a REAL fine dining experience, which will include a cool bar, good service, HOT FOOD, and a PRIME cut of beef.

Third time we went on a Monday night. Closed. The fourth time I had called ahead & was told that the bar is closed Monday-Wednesday, so we went on a Thursday night around 8:30 & spoiler alert: closed. I called the main line & was told they close it early if business is slow. They said we could go to the main bar, but they don't sell the tiki drinks there. I'd really like to try this place, but you guys aren't making it easy for us. I will update if we actually find it open, but I'm not holding my breath at this point.

Our server, Jayden, was the highlight of the evening even considering a very high bar set by the cocktails and food. He was friendly, efficient and just the right amount of care. He went out of his way to make sure our evening was a pleasant one. I found the cocktail and food prices to be very much in line! If I lived in Dallas I would be a regular there and would certainly ask to seated with Jayden every time!

Walk in via J Theodore, the ohone booth is to the left. It's a cool novelty calling with a book name to enter via the book shelf. Once inside the speak easy area there were two seating options. The Library which is set away from the open lounge area and quieter or the lounge area with the bar. They would not let us pick our spot despite seating being available. We opted for the lounge area as the seat offered to us there was better to our preference. The tables are packed quiet tightly which i dont like personally but i get it. That tidbit aside it is definitely a cool environment. Service was really nice and the food we ordered was great. I presume it's the same menu as J Theodore so I'm going to have to try that now for a more restaurant style meal. This is a cool place to hang out and bring friends imo. Since we don't really drink we'll probably end up at the restaurant next time as it's not easy to eat on tiny tables. It's a bar/lounge after all.
