I have been going to a "Mom and Pop" type establishment since high school in clarkston that I loved (I'm 38 now). I didn't want to drive there for eye care anymore so I gave this a try Earlier reviews were not good so I was not sure what I'd be walking into It was a great experience from top to bottom. The doctor was informative and efficient. The person helping me choose lenses (MaryAnn maybe?) actually helped me by showing me the frames she had ordered that were not on display anymore. She noticed the ones I chose from the wall were similar and pulled hers out to show me. I ended up ordering her lenses! That's a first for sure They have a good selection of lenses. I also ordered daily contacts which fit comfortably. I'm waiting on the orders for both, I expect about 3-4 weeks from the sounds of it. Looking forward to picking up my glasses read more

STAY AWAY FROM PEARLE VISION, as all cost!!! Most disappointing experience I've ever experienced!! They first tried to give me a different frame than I ordered, a less expensive one I might add...But I noticed, and asked them to send back with the frame I chose. After wearing for a couple weeks I came back so they could make changes. My transition lens had me looking straight through the "magnified" reading section. The Reading section besides being in my line of sight, it was 3 times weaker than my off the shelf reading glasses. Trying to use my new glasses to read, I had to hold the reading material with my arms completely extended, that's where it was in focus.... Not sure who wants to read like that! Long story short, they said I'd have to see the doctor, and get a new script, for the reading section??? By the way, they don't measure the height of the readers with some cool device, they have a representative mark the lens while I'm wearing them, while her hands are shacking !!! I am so grateful for Pearle Vision and Dr. Clark. Friday night over the weekend my eye started feeling so much pain, there was something in that I couldn't pass or even see what it was for that matter. I tried several things I read online but nothing worked and I was so uncomfortable trying not to rub my unbearably painful eye. Early Saturday at 9am I went to the nearest optometrist with my two toddlers. I explained my pain and situation but they told me they only had one doctor and a full schedule. I was ready to go to an urgent care. Desperately, with my two toddlers, I drove down Rochester road trying to find another open optometrist and went to Pearle Vision explained my situation. Although, they only had one doctor and a full schedule Dr. Clark agreed to see me. Thank goodness because he found the tiniest piece of glass and was able to remove it. If I didn't have it removed I could have caused terrible damage to my eye. I was so grateful and instantly relieved. read more

Dr Clark and his staff have been exceptionally attentive and helpful over the last 18 years when my husband, myself and three children have come annually for our eye appointments. We all either wear glasses and/or contacts, so have needed lots of attention and care. I truly feel so well taken care of, as many of the employees have been here since we started coming. DO NOT COME HERE! I would never recommend this location. I Brought my son in for his annual eye exam. They could not find my information that I had pre-filled online. I was asked to provide them with a date of when I filled it out. Apparently, it is impossible for them to look it up any other way except by the date it was completed. I told them it had been about two weeks since I filled out the information. After a few minutes they said they would not help unless the information was found so I could keep giving them dates or complete the paperwork again, so I completed all the paperwork again. Exam went okay, purchasing glasses went okay. No one was exceptional but no one was overly rude either. Ordered two pairs of glasses for my son and I was told that the glasses would come in in 7-10 days since they have everything shipped out to a lab to complete. Paid and left then did not hear anything from the store again. Once they have your money they don't care about you. After 10 days I called and was told it would be a few more days. Received one pair (sports goggles) on the 12th day and was told the other pair would come in the next day. 2 weeks later, no second pair, no phone call, nothing. I called to follow up and was told since he had 1 pair already it's okay if the other pair is running a little late. Blame was cast to the Lab for running late. I asked for the phone number to the Lab to I could figure out what the delay was - they're not allowed to give that out. I asked to speak to a manager - Not Available, I asked to speak to the Doctor - Not Available. Once they have your money they no longer care! No one takes responsibility at this location, and no one is held responsible for their actions. There is nothing they can do to help. They claim it's the labs fault but I can't talk to anyone there nor will they apply pressure to the lab to figure it out for me. Asked for my money back for the pair I did not receive and was told they can't give refunds. As a customer I feel I was lied to, after they have your money they cannot and will not help you. Still no second pair of glasses and I'm basically stuck just waiting on when they want to complete that for me. There is absolutely nothing they can do to help me - no refunds, no discounts, no following up with the issue. I simply want what i paid for, i'm not looking for freebies but this location does not care about keeping customers happy, they don't care about making this right, they don't care that glasses are a month delayed, they only care about your money! Had a script from another optometry store but wanted to shop for a better price on filling it. Started calling around without much success - No one would give me an estimate on just new lenses: One local store got downright rude with me just for having asked - but of all of them, Pearle was the most kind and welcoming when inviting me to come in for the quote so I did. I don't regret it. Their little staff there at the Hampton store was very accommodating, knowledgeable, and patient. I was pleased with their prices compared to what I paid in the past, and they have an outstanding frame selection as well, so I ended up with new frames too. read more

My review below should have been posted on the Lens Crafter site. Truly my error. I hadn't planned to discuss or mention Pearle Vision.

First off, I was referred to this place by a friend because they took my insurance and there family has been going there for years. Since i have never been there before, I was skeptical of the doctor but he proved to me why people have been going there for years! As he was coming out with another patient he greeted me by my first name as if we had met before, later he told me he saw i was on the book and made a conscious effort to look out for me when i was filling out my forms. I was blown away when Adam did the same thing!!! It made me feel welcome! After the testing we did the doctor did the most thorough exam I had ever had. They took these photos of the eye that I have never had done before and he fit me new contacts because my other one were bothering me and I LOVE them!!! Patty was putting my insurance threw and I was looking at sunglasses for a second and Adam handed me this pair of Ray Bans that I just fell i love with! All my friends want a pair now!!! Patty was so friendly and they both seemed so very good at what they do for there customers. I would recommend this store to anyone with or with out insurance, they have top notch products and service! Thanks for listening!! I hope you have as good of service as i did!!! read more

First, the good stuff: great doctor who performed an excellent exam. The frames selection was also great. Now the bad stuff: I ordered my new Coach glasses (using the same prescription for progressive contact lenses that I received from there a few months earlier.) and waited 3 weeks (with constant phone calls to check up on them) to finally get notified my new glasses were ready for pick up (when I was told 7-10 days). Right from the start I knew the prescription was wrong, so I went back 2 days later to have them glasses checked. That's when I was told that I would have the pay an additional $160 (on top of the $500 I already paid) because the progressive lenses cost more. When I told them no way, I'm not paying the difference - you made the mistake, you put the wrong lenses in there, and you lost them for 3 weeks. Either give me a full refund and I'll take my business elsewhere, or make the right, the Store Manager (1) told them they don't ever give refunds; (2) argued with me that they would use bi-focal lenses instead of progressives because they are cheaper; and then (3) in front of other customers finally insulted me with this gem: "Honestly, Some People... !" We have cancelled ALL appointments for my other family members at this store and will NEVER go back. There are two new competitors that just opened near this Pearle Vision location that we are going to visit. You should too. read more

I think Dr. Clark is fantastic, but I will never, EVER step foot in this store again. This is my second go-around w/ this staff (you think I would've learned my lesson?) Terrible customer service. I had the audacity to let them know that after I had my contact exam, I was going to shop contact prices around a bit (I do not have vision insurance), but asked if they would consider price-matching a quote I received from 1-800-CONTACTS. I was then REPRIMANDED by the staff, who advised that Acuvue sets a universal pricing that isn't supposed to be modified (think iPhone pricing), and that whoever advertises a lower price is breaking the rules, and that they'd have to TURN THEM IN! After having been made to feel like a criminal, I paid for my (overpriced) contact exam, grabbed my prescription and left. I wonder how many patients Dr. Clark is losing out on because the front end of the store has apparently not been trained in customer service. When you're working with a patient and the phone rings...if you MUST answer it, take a message and call back. Do not push my stuff aside so you can attend to the caller. This happened twice with Geneal (sp?) ~ had there been a third time, I was going to leave them a note and tell them to bill me. I wasted at least 20 minutes while they tended to other's business. Terrible. I'm still shopping prices, and if necessary, I'll pay more for my contacts, but I won't go back there. Ever. EV-ER! read more

Have had two pair of glasses with Pearle. Nice people but both frames have not been good and they were very pricey. The firs set the paint peeled within a week. The second set separated (not broke ) at the hinge with zero trauma after six months. I had the replacement plan but still cost me $25 for faulty frames. Lastly, they came apart on a Saturday evening and these guys are not open on Sunday but all their competition is. Next set, I'll definitely shop around! read more

IDoctor is very nice, staff is okay, but service is extrmely slow which is why i give this place 1 star becuz i dont reccomend it. Itll take easily 2-3 weeks for your glasses to be made which is a long time to wait if ur having vision induced headaches and need a new prescription asap...by waiting so long ur vision may even get more worse.....skip this place and if u can afford it go to lenscrafters....they make ur glasses in just 1 hour on the spot while u shop at the mall! Or go to a private eye doctor clinic...theyre cheaper and will be faster than here. read more

I don't think these people have ever heard of customer service, especially the woman named Germeal or Genial or whatever. Like everyone else says, great optometrists, but absolutely horrendous employees. They have a 14-day guarantee of providing you with your glasses, which is longer than any other place I've ever heard of, yet they fail to even get them in within that time frame. They didn't even call me to let me know that my glasses weren't in like I was told would happen in emergency cases. When I asked why they even have the guarantee then, the lady snapped at me and said, "I'm not driving to our factory in Brighton to get them for you, things happen." No apology, nothing. Absolutely TERRIBLE! The optometrist is great, it's the "help" that needs to be fired. I called and booked an appointment for the Sunday before Thanksgiving, and when I showed up, Adam had not put my appointment in the book. I ended up waiting 45 minutes for an appointment. Then, I was told I would have my glasses and contacts within 7-10 days. It's now been 19 days! I have called at least 4 times now, and the last time I called they said they called the lab and put a rush on the order. That was a week ago and they haven't even called to tell me anything yet. Also, let me add that WITH my insurance and a buy on get one free deal on the glasses, I walked out paying $824! This was for a year supply of contacts, one pair of glasses and a "free" pair of glasses. This place just sucks. I went here thinking it would be better than America's Best, but it wasn't even equal to them, let alone better. I want my money back! read more

if I could give 0 stars I would. My mother and I went here to get new glasses. Both of our prescription glasses are horrible. We both agree our old glasses are better for our eyes then our 'new' ones that were prescribed by Pearle Vision. I went back to complain, their response each time was you need to get used to them - my vision seems worse now then it was before (with or without my glasses). When my mother went back to complain, their response was well you are older and your vision probably changed since the 3 months you were here. She is on a fixed income without eye glass insurance and it cost quite a bit of money to get her new glasses. She uses her old ones now instead. I have insurance but can not get new ones because of the restriction of my insurance. horrible service, horrible attitude and horrible prescription eye glasses. If you need glasses, don't bothering coming to this place. They will mess your vision up worse than it already is. read more

I will never go back there again. The optometrist himself was great, couldn't be a nicer guy. The people that helped us however... completely different story. The guy that helped us would not stop talking, we were not expecting to be there for three hours just for an eye exam and a fitting for glasses. At least an hour of that time was wasted of him telling us of his life, and his kids, and all that (which I don't mind to some extent, but that's not what I came there for). Also, my insurance only covers $130 a year for glasses, he knew this and continued to show us all of the frames that were well over $300, now I know that they are trying to make money and all of that, but when I tell you six times that we can't afford it, you should listen. There was also a mishap that happened once the frames were chosen. We were indecisive about getting the glare resistant, and asked them to hold onto the frames for the night so we could talk it over. The glare resistant would cost an extra $79 and was not covered by my insurance. We called the next day and spoke to a woman, we told her to go ahead and process the glasses without the glare resistant. We get a call back about a week later from the guy who helped us originally . He told us that the frames were still sitting in the tray, they hadn't been processed. He told us that he would put a rush order on them. Well, it has been two and a half weeks since he supposedly put that rush order on them, and I still don't have them. Overall, I have been waiting for my much needed glasses for three and a half weeks, I am furious. I am in high school and I can't see the board in any of my classes, even though I had my seat moved up to the front row. I am unable to see correctly when I drive, and I have a hard time focusing in on my textbooks, or watching TV, or looking at a computer screen. This was my first experience there and I will never go back, and I will never recommend them to anyone. read more

I just had the worst customer experience of my life at this store. This was after being a long-time Pearle Vision customer (a previous location for roughly 15 years, then transferring to this location in 2014). I will say, Dr. Clarke is excellent and it makes me sad I have to find a new doctor for my family of four, based the appalling way I was treated by the office manager who is a liar and who avoided my calls for over a week, then treated me rudely on the phone and in person. It all started on 12/21 when I ordered a pair of glasses which cost $599.99. I was never notified they were in, I had to call and ask. on 1/7 I picked up the glasses, I was wearing contacts at the time of pickup, and when I got home with the glasses, it was immediately apparent that something was very wrong. There was a circle in the center of the left lens that was blurry. You could see this with the naked eye. I returned the glasses on 1/8 and they assured me they would "rush" them since I needed them for a trip on 1/14. Of course I heard nothing, and finally called them on 1/22, I was told they still weren't in, but Kathie A. called the lab and assured me they would be in on 1/25 and if there were any other delays she would keep me informed. On 1/27, having heard NOTHING, I called again promptly at 9:00 a.m. Kathie told me the glasses were not in and admitted that she didn't do the best job following up. At that time I told her I wanted a full refund. She told me the store manager Martha Leinonen would contact me. Within an hour, I received a voice mail from Kathie that the glasses were in and I could pick them up anytime, and Martha would still be calling me. I decided I would not pick up the glasses until I spoke with Martha. Martha left one voice mail message for me, and I never heard from her again until 2/2. I called Rochester and the Twelve Oaks store (both of which are managed by her), repeatedly. Kathie kept assuring me that she was passing on my messages. Still nothing. Finally, on 1/30, I went in to the Rochester Hills store and demanded an appt. be made for me with Martha. They scheduled me for an appointment so early that I would have to take personal time from my job to attend it. When I said I needed it later, they told me that Martha leaves by 4:30 so the latest appointment was 4:00. On 1/2, I received a call from Martha, finally. She was combative and rude. She denied Kathie ever telling her I was trying to reach her, although she did leave me that one voice message, which apparently she though fulfilled her responsibilities? She insisted I could not be refunded, then suddenly in the middle of our conversation she stated "You know what, just come and get your money!" Then added "I need you to come and get your money as soon as possible!" I explained that I would be in on Thursday at our scheduled time for my refund. She confirmed the cost of the glasses was $599.99. She also told me she would be there until 6:00, but I still took personal time for fear she was lying again and I would show up at 5:00 and she'd be gone. When I walked in the store, she informed me that the only amount she would refund was the $377 I paid, and I would be out the $222 my insurance had paid for. I then asked if she was re-instating my insurance benefit then, and she said no. She was extremely combative and argumentative. I called her a liar, because she is one. Finally I told her to give me the glasses, as this was my only choice since I don't want to lose $222. I told her my family of 4 would not return, she replied "you aren't welcome, you are dismissed from this practice". I have never before been treated so poorly. The fact that she is in charge of two stores is shocking. She will cost Pearle Vision a lot more customers than the four of us, I can guarantee you that. We will be trying Visionworks which is across the street. Pearle Vision has lost us as customers. read more
