I've gone here twice. The first time, I didn't really enjoy. I got a salad with spinach as the base. I put a bunch of toppings and it still didn't seem filling. My second time going today and I went for the hot foods. It was soooo good. I got the salmon, chicken and broccoli, potatoes and it was really tasty. The only downside is that it's pretty pricey. Fordham Road is a hot bed of horrible for you food, so Primavera is a welcome respite from the fast food littering the immediate area. The sandwiches are very good, the hot food bar is decent too. At $6.95 a pound it's actually not all that expensive, although IMO they need more veggies. Food by the pound always ends up seeming expensive because most people grossly underestimate the weight of what they get! The pernil is my new obsession. Lately I've been throwing that and some rice in a box and calling it Sunday dinner. The only thing that sucks is that they're kind of slow at making sandwiches - and I stop here on my walk down the hill from the D to the Fordham Metro-North station, so I generally have very little time to wait, which is why lately I've just been hot bar-ing it. All in all - a decent food spot, especially if you aren't down for deep fried crap. Try the capri panini and the pernil. I worked a summer school session nearby and this place was recommended by a colleague. I went once and I just kept going back. Compared to the other options in the area (primarily fast food spots), this place was a healthy option and still got me food fast with a plethora of hot food options ready to be served in small or large containers that get charged by the pound (somewhere around 9 dollars per pound). I love their buffet items! Each day they have a variety of proteins (beef, pork, fish and chicken), well-seasoned vegetables (with salt less option), pasta, rice, and soup options. They also have a salad area with a large assortment of veggies, fruits, beans, and nuts. They also have paninis and wraps. Aaaand they offer protein shakes, smoothies, and fresh juices. I took off one star because when I sat down the tables felt sticky. I don't mean they were dirty because they looked clean, they just had a sticky residue that didn't feel right to me. I touched various tables and it was the same across all of them. This will definitely be a go-to spot for next year and any future meetings I may have nearby. read more

I want to give this place four stars, but this reveiw is for my overall experience and how the food was. I have to say, Ive been living in the Bx. for awhile, and yet never made a visit here. From my first visit here I would have to say, I would never come back, unless Im picking up to go, or if I have a food squad or a pluse one with me. I found the food here quite tasty. You can order cooked food, such as breakfast, you can get salad freshly made, or you can come for what everyone else seems to come for and thats the buffet food. They weigh your food here I believe for about $6.95 a lb. I think, I dont remember but I am glad that I got a small size contanier, cause the food can add up. They have a good variety of food, and I quite enjoyed mines. What I didnt enjoy was once again because I was by myself I ask the guy who was ringing up my purchase, to clean off this table for me, because someone just ate and left there tray. He said a guy was coming to clean it, soon as he was done, some lady who was with her kid had her kid sit down before I got there. Glad someone let me sit down across from them, to eat my food. It would of been ackward just standing around with a tray in my hand waiting for somebody to get up from a table. The lesson here- if you come alone to eat, hope you get a table! read more

You can train someone to be skilled, but you can't train them to be honest. I go to this place a lot since I'm a Fordham Student, but not anymore. One bad apple ruins it all for everyone. I ordered food and they charged me twice the amount when I wasn't looking. Is that how you treat your customers? It isn't about the amount that I'm pissed. I would rate it no stars if I could. The customer service is HORRIBLE. I've waited for my order for over and hour and a half & when I called the restaurant I was told it wasn't even made yet and that they won't deliver it because I was paying with cash. When the week before they delivered it and took cash easily with no problem and even had the audacity to knock on my door again to ask for a bigger tip. It's a shame to wait nearly two hours for food and then he told that I have to pay with a credit card all of a sudden to have it delivered. Disgusting rude employees. Never ordering from there again. I have been coming to this establishment for about a year now, although it's been here a long time. I love the fresh foods that they have here. The fact that they put protein inside of their shakes, if wanted, and their buffet. I haven't had their food from behind the counter-burgers, fries, paninis. But their buffet is the best I've seen in NYC. Their ever changing menu is amazing and their food is right above par. I would definitely recommend a friend here. Note: Inquire about delivery restrictions and rules as I'm not familiar with them. I dropped in on a crowded Sunday evening for the hot bar costing $6.99 per lb. You are allowed to pick your plate or container, pick your choice of grub as you please, and then take to the register for weighing and paying. Note: You are allowed two pieces of salmon while getting other food as well for the standard $6.99 per lb. Not adhering to the two salmon policy and taking possession of 3 or more pieces of salmon will result in a per pound fee of $9.99. Consider yourself warned. Trying to eat healthy, I got a couple pieces of salmon, a piece of sweet potato, steamed vegetable medley, piece of chicken breast and a tablespoonful of brown rice. Yeah I know, a lot of protein. I'd just lifted weights, legs that is, earlier in the day so the protein went to a great cause. All the food was flavorful, both salmon and chicken were tender and juicy. Finally, a clean and healthy place to eat on Fordham Road! I unfortunately missed my train this morning, prompting me to walk west to the Dunkin' Donuts at Kingsbridge Road for some coffee and breakfast. Primavera, however, caught my eye with its clean seating space and assortment of fruits. I felt bad that the restaurant was empty as the man at the cash register complained to another gentleman about crime in the area. Apparently, Primavera used to be open 24 hours, but not as of recently. All that aside, I ordered a cute looking strawberry yogurt parfait with kiwi, blueberries, strawberries, bananas and granola, plus an iced coffee. Fordham Road veterans may be shocked at the prices (I paid a little over $5 compared to a $3 bacon, egg and cheese and coffee), but the ingredients were fresh and tasty, and the iced coffee came in a plastic cup, not a repurposed hot coffee cup. It looks like they serve hot breakfast items, as well as your standard Latin food staples. One thing that stood out to me in particular, however, was the salad bar. Updated review: This place is hit and miss. We ordered a fruit waffle and black coffee and they sent a plain waffle and coffee with milk. My husband called and they said they couldn't reach the driver that we would have to wait until he returned so they can read the order sheet and they will call back. 30 mins later and no call the driver comes back with the black coffee and a bag of fruit. My husband called the store to complain about them sending a bag of fruit instead of replacing the whole order and expecting me to just add the fruit to my now cold waffle and they basically said it isn't their fault that I didn't eat my waffle when it was delivered. Finally, finally, finally! A place on Fordham Road that I can get something healthy (and I don't mean a salad from McDonald's..yuck). Primavera has such a clean and welcoming space. The staff is friendly and the food is great. They have a good selection of smoothies, wraps, paninis, sandwiches, and a salad bar. In addition to that, they recently added a hot food bar and it is so good. Tastes fresh and well seasoned. The prices aren't too bad either (yes it's more expensive than all the fast food joints around it but you get what you pay for). If you're in the Fordham Road area, this is the place to go. If I worked around here I think this would be the only place I'd eat from, for realz! read more

I stopped in to get breakfast and saw the biggest roach crawling on the wall behind the salad bar. There was an open box of donuts that it made it's way in to. Not only that, the container that they keep the raw chicken breast in, was leaning up against the wall with a piece of raw chicken still in it. More food to feed the critters. I made them aware of what I saw. The guy threw out the donuts but didn't move the raw chicken. Makes me wonder what goes on in the back that the customers don't see. The food is mediocre at best. Customer service is trash. The manager "Johnny" is a jerk. The front end girl "Alma" is an idiot. I ordered a waffle and they sent it with NO SYRUP. This is the 3rd time they've done this. I called back and they told me I had to wait for 4 deliveries to get my syrup. Didn't apologize or anything. An hour goes by and nothing. My bf calls them because he wanted his money back for the waffle that didn't get eaten and the manager REFUSED to even speak with him over the phone and then refused to give us our money back but wanted to send us syrup over an hour later. Doesn't matter if you order off menu or get something weighted like a salad or buffet food. It's expensive for what you get. The food is decent don't get me wrong. I love this place; it's become a common hangout for my friends and I whenever we're at Fordham! I always eat their sandwiches especially one called the Cordon Blue. They have sandwhich combos (sandwich, pickles, & chips) n a whole lot of other options like salads, smoothies, and deserts. I love their sandwich combo because the medium circle roll combo is 6.95 while the hero is 7.95. The food and the smoothies are fresh too! It's also comfortable to sit by the windows because it's relaxing and clean. Hmm.. The only complaint that I might have is that their buffet might be a little pricey, but still this diner is wonderful! read more

This is a great spot, especially for a commuter who is always walking back and forth between campus and the D-train. Primavera Cafe is spotless and has the friendliest staff around. I've been twice and felt very welcome. The first time was for dinner and I got baked chicken, rice and green beans. They saw me eyeballing the hot wings, and when I got my plate, they threw a couple on for free just for me to try. The food was delish like home cooking. The second visit was for a quick breakfast this morning. I got a medium coffee and yogurt cup with granola and fruit. Together it was a little over $5. I like that the granola had a bit of sweet coconut in it, and there was a good amount; I couldn't even finish it. I browsed the rest of the food layout and it all looked so good. Plus, when you sit there are big glass windows looking out so it's nice to relax and people watch. I think this will be my go-to spot on Fordham Road. read more
