Easily one of the best steaks I've had in a long time. Well-seasoned and cooked to perfection and the grilled Brussel sprouts were great too. The osso-bucco special was also excellent too. No one answers phone when attempting a reservation...leave message, no call back. Made reservation through Resy, on their website. We read through many positive reviews and were looking forward to a special meal celebrating an anniversary. Shrimp cocktail was good; crab meat cocktail good; house salad with fennel dressing very good. We both ordered filet mignon as entree. We waited over an hour for our meals to arrive at table. Very disappointed ... filets done as requested, medium rare, but meat was tough/chewy, not what one would expect from a quality steakhouse. In addition, they offer various sauces. My husband asked for remoulade sauce to go with the crab...they only offer cocktail sauce. I asked for bearnaise which is a sauce they offer...was told they were out (they open Sunday at 5 - my request was made at 6:15); our server said she would ask the chef if he would meet request ... was told yes if I added the crab topping to my filet ... Great Restaurant! My tables steaks were cooked perfect and very apparent was the quality of meat. On display they had a HUGE cut of long bone Kobe Tomahawk ribeye which was so cool. This is definately different than your average steakhouse tho. Fried green tomatoes were excellent along with the Octopus which is best Ive ever had. Love the chimichurri sauce and the house barbecue sauce (smokey,tomatoey, sweet and spicy). And finally the whoopie pie with its decadent marscapone filling (had to ask server) and the blueberry cheesecake were great. I have been to prime 13 a few times and the food is always amazing. The steak is cooked to perfection and rivals AC and NYC steak and philly. I have been to a ton of steakhouses including Del Frisco's in NY, Boston, and Vegas , Bobby flay steak, Barclays prime, American cut, Vic & Anthony's, Morton's, and the palm. I know good steak. So I promise that prime 13 has delicious steak. Perfectly charred, amazingly cooked, tastes so good, comes out sizzling hot. I highly recommend the tomahawk which is an amazing deal because it comes with two sides. And also the New York strip which has amazing flavor. We did have a small hiccup this time because we never got our sides but our waiter took care of us and was extremely accommodating even though the restaurant was packed. Went last night with 3 other people for dinner. I know these are trying times but we were excited to go out and enjoy a nice meal. The place was overwhelmed and so were the servers. We arrived at 8pm and our meals came out at 10pm. I had to get up and go get our wine glasses (it's a BYOB). We did have one appetizer but 2 hours for your main course?! We didn't leave until 11pm. Our waiter was probably just having a bad day BUT he had a very poor attitude. We witnessed many verbal confrontations with other guests in the tables around us. We couldn't believe what we were seeing. Last night was an absolute sh-t show at Prime 13. We won't be going back for a while. Not worth it! read more

Employees do not wear masks. We dined here last night and had 2 different waiters come up to our table and speak to us unmasked. We also witnessed multiple employees inside the restaurant with no masks on. We dined outside. This really sends a bad message to customers, if they are so blatantly violating these health and safety rules I am just going to assume they violate food safety rules as well. I don't care if the owner is anti-mask, if you own a restaurant you need to respect your customers (elderly and sick especially!) and follow the health guidlines. Most STAFF DID NOT WEAR MASKS, and I wish we'd left as soon as we were greeted by the unmasked host,but my husband wanted to stay. There was ample seating (outdoors, under a tent) around 5:30 pm. Unlike me, perhaps others have heard about the mask issue. I would have given 4 stars for timely service and delicious food, but for the mask thing. We ordered quickly, and the food came out quickly. My husband had the NY Strip and I had the filet. Both were cooked as ordered and were so tender neither of us even touched our steak knives; the butter knives sliced through with ease. We each had the house salad with a tasty, sweet vinaigrette (slightly mustardy), and split a side of baked mac and cheese. I thought both were tasty, though not exceptional. The salad was small and unoriginal. We skipped dessert in favor of our favorite ice cream stand (where servers wear masks, even behind plexiglass). If Prime 13 survives the pandemic, I'd go back for the fantastic steaks (not before a vaccine), but I was super disappointed that management doesn't value our business enough to do the bare minimum to make us more comfortable as we try to support them during a pandemic. read more

If I could give this restaurant less than one star I would. Loud atmosphere, slow and inattentive service and $45 for a steak that was tough and chewy. Also ordered a shrimp dish that was swimming in an over salted teriyaki sauce. I will say the side dishes were good, however, we didn't need to spend $125 for tasty mashed potatoes. Been going to Prime 13 before they closed for covid & then recently while outside dining. Most of the time its been as good as NJ can get (not saying much) Last night however was the worst!! Sat at 8:30 didn't leaving till after 10:30pm and thats not from enjoying the food & service either. We returned the appetizers twice because they were wrong, then the 3rd time it was burnt. They had to make it again..that was another 1/2 wait. No Drinks ever came. Ordered a 10oz shell steak med rare, it came ice cold, & raw! I just wrapped it up.. Then we waited & waited for the check..it was the worst dining experience ever..They should be ashamed of themselves.. We weren't the only table disgusted last night. I recommend this place, Chef Jeremy makes food that that is fresh and locally sourced. Check for specials if you do attend this restaurant. The grilled flank steak was delicious and the angry octopus appetizer was awesome. I also tried the scallops and lobster mac & cheese, all I can say is OH MY - delicious. Don't forget to try the bacon, on my bacon! The atmosphere is cozy and the whole place is clean. I recommend this place for a nice meal, it is byob so bring what you want. While I have loved the food and the restaurant for years I have to say in the last few months I have been disappointed.... so 1 time your Online reservation not working or showing ok... 2 times something is up.... each time you call and they tell you can come down and they will seat you... great the food is good and usually you get great service. This time we drove the 30 mins after calling to confirm and we were told you will be seated at the chefs table since again your reservation isn't showing. We arrive and Gerard's friends arrived first and were seated at the chefs table..... well the hostess approached Gerard and he walked over told the 3 of them to move down on the 12 foot table and the hostess came back to tell us she will seat us 2 feet from them... I'm sorry but I not only have asthma but a cancer survivor that's far too close to people I don't know. She said sorry to her empty restaurant and sent us on our way. I was disappointed and hurt by the respect for this virus and others lives. After years of going to the restaurant I am not sure I will returns and I am sure my family will agree. read more

The food was very good, but the experience ruined the evening. It took almost 20 minutes to get our glasses filled with water, but things were busy so we didn't think anything about it. My wife wanted the surf and turf and the menu stated Market Price so before ordering she asked the server for the price and he said $46, which she then ordered. When we got the bill it was $78.99. When we asked the server why the difference from what he quoted he said he was just quoting the price for the lobster above the fillet price, despite my wife asking specifically for the surf & turf menu item. When I checked their site the published price for Surf & Turf is $54.99. I asked for the manager who came to talk to us but said she had no authority to change anything despite showing her the site. She said only the Exec Chef has authority. When the Exec Chef showed up he approached the conversation stating the server did nothing wrong and the issue was that they were using a 12oz instead of 8oz lobster, and we should pay for it. I reiterated that we asked specifically for the S&T price, then showed him his own site and I had to remind him that it is illegal to publish prices and then charge differently. At that point he said he had no control of the site (but he is one of the owners) and after an attitude he said he would charge us the $59.99 stated on the site. Then he added that the server would pay the difference. When the server brought the revised bill, the server restated that he would have to cover the difference out of his own pocket. Why try to make the customer feel guilty for their mistake. This became a horrible ending to what could have been a very nice meal. No question the food is great, but these guys have not understood the value of customer service and long term value of returning customers. In other great restaurants there would have not been any question about this discrepancy, especially given that they themselves are publishing wrong prices, and take no accountability. By the way, they add on 2% credit card fee to the bill (pre-tax) even when paying with cash. I think most consumers just pay and don't question that either. read more

So my husband's been dying to go to this restaurant for the longest time so we decided to go for an early Father's Day dinner. We had very high hopes for the food but unfortunately we were disappointed. He ordered his steak medium and it was well done my daughters steak was very spicy and her rice was undercooked. I had onions & mushrooms on mine and there were barely any. AND THE PRICES ARE SUPER HIGH! But most of all I was completely and totally appalled when the server proceeded to come outside the restaurant after I left to ask me if there was anything wrong with the food or service. When I looked puzzled and said why do you ask, he basically told me that the tip I left him wasn't enough! I was dumbfounded. He humiliated me in front of a group of people that were outside as well as my dinner guests. It was completely uncalled for as my tip was totally adequate. I've never experienced this in my life before now and will never return to this restaurant again!! I tried to call and speak to the manager but got a machine. Spent 3 hours dining here last weekend. The petite fillets we both ordered were delicious!! It was up there w one of the best pieces of meat I've ever had. Dessert and appetizer were also really good but nothing overly remarkable. The main course made up for the rest. The service was on/off, sometimes our waitress disappeared and we had to flag someone else, but other times she was on top of it and very accommodating. The manager stopped by twice to sit and talk at length which was nice but he was really excited while we were trying to relax and chill. The only bad part was leaving after paying the bill. We left through the entrance where a few of the staff members were standing in the entry smoking. It was pretty gross after such a delicious meal. I would definitely go back here though. We waited at least 45 minutes after the salads for our dinners in which time we got some bread which was the highlight of the meal for us. Pretzel bread with delicious homemade mustard sauce. I ordered the filet meduim with a lobster tail add on. I had no idea the add on was going to be so huge. It cost almost double what the 32$ steak did. The tail was ok. It was chewy and stringy in parts but i felt compelled to eat it for the price. I think it needed to be cooked more. I cut into my steak and at first it seemed ok. But then i realized it was rare. I asked for medium. I sent it back for a little more cooking time and it came back black on the outside but still rare. My bf had the barrell cut bigger filet. His was cooked perfectly medium. The sides were not great. Mac and cheese and creamed spinach. We hardly ate them.They took my steak off the bill thankfully. Our waiter couldnt have been nicer. He profusely apologized for the steak. Came here for restaurant week for the first time ever and loved it! We didn't realize it was byob and one of the waiters actually offered to go buy us a bottle of wine so we didn't have to go back out. Service like that is rare. For appetizers we got the tuna tacos and p13 bacon. Both were amazing but personally I'd say go for the tuna tacos. We both got skirt steaks which were cooked perfectly, tender, and flavorful. Dessert we went with creme brûlée and Cannoli tacos. Both were good but I highly recommend the cannoli. Waitstaff was pleasant and attentive. The ambiance was okay- but the food makes up for it. Not quite sure where to start. This is the second time we were there. The first time was just average. Nothing to write home about. This time friends wanted to go so we went with them. I ordered their steak special, NY Strip on the bone. I didn't ask and the waiter never said but when the bill came the steak was $94, about twice the cost of what everything else on the menu was. So that was on me for not asking. Wouldn't have been so bad if the steak was good. It was terrible. Tough, quite a bit gristle. My friend had the $94 steak also and he wasn't thrilled either. I've had a better steak from my local butcher and from Shop Rite. My wife said her steak was fine, a small boneless strip. On top of all this they added a 3.5% service charge. Pretty funny when you think they added that to two $94 steaks plus other items from the menu. With that said, the service was great and they certainly don't rush you out. For the shore, this place is a real treat. Never got a bad steak. Always tender and flavorful. I'd say it's definitely consistent which is something I can't say too often these days. I expected more from a high end restaurant. Also the seating was not very intimate for celebrating our Anniversary. The tables were very close together and the atmosphere is loud because you are so close to the other tables and the restaurant is not very big. Bottom line... food and service were good, atmosphere could be improved especially considering the quality of food and pricing were high end. Came with a groupon on a Sunday night and were greeted by the very personable owner Gerard who later came by our table to ask us how we liked our meal. Had a reservation and were promptly seated. Service was fast and our waitress was very friendly and very knowledgeable. She explained what all the specials were and promptly took our order. I have to admit when I go to a steak house and don't see salt and pepper on the table I get a little concerned. My wife ordered the Chatham Cod which came with a baked potato and grilled asparagus. I had the 20 oz. pork chop with a side of the roasted brussels sprouts. My wife's fish was excellent and the pork chop without a doubt was the best pork chop I've ever had. It was smoky with a beautiful char, cook to my specification and was perfectly seasoned. Now I know why no salt and pepper. The only drawbacks for us was a wilted salad with an overly sweet vinaigrette and the fact that they don't mention on their website that it's BYOB. Our waiter was knowledgeable of the menu and offered the specials from memory. We ordered he opened our wine and the pretzel breadsticks were amazing. Salads really fresh and tasty. I ordered the salmon Oscar which was amazing. I have to watch my red meat intake so this was an outstanding option. My wife had a crab cake that was second to none we have ever had anywhere. Our friend had the 8oz filet and was cooked perfect. Also the flank steak dish came out and had a little kick with the sauces. Service was excellent water refills drinks poured and the owner walked around asking how everything was. Desert was also very good. Well we're going back in a few weeks for that steak for sure.
