First off, I'm sorry I did not take any photos. My friend was in town staying at the Fontainebleau. We already had reservations for Monday, but we were running late for another reservation the night before, so we ended up eating there twice. The first night I ordered the filet mignon rare with a side of broccolini and it was the best steak I've had in a long time. I also ordered the wedge salad which was perfect. Blue cheese dressing, bacon...also ordered a couple glasses of red wine, which I completely forgot which one. Also the key lime dessert. 2nd night I ordered the wedge salad (AGAIN IT WAS THAT GOOD!!!) and the salmon entree. Old fashioned cocktail was an excellent start to the meal. I had high hopes for this place. It started off great with the lobster bisque and the crab cake. Decided to order the tuna tartare and it was a complete let down. It was served with very large, dried out bread triangles which turned to sawdust when you ate it. The tartare was flavorless and non appetizing. Ordered the ribeye with chimichurri sauce and a side of mashed potatoes. The ribeye was cooked well but was cold by the time it got to the table. The mashed potatoes were good but the portion is small compared to other steakhouses with a la cart sides. Also, everywhere within the hotel charges a 20% gratuity, automatically. Servers are sure to tell you that this gets split and they request extra gratuity on top of that. Very expensive meal and wasn't really worth it. Believe our bill was $315. Two people want to share a large $150 steak for two. One wants medium, the other medium rare. The steak comes out sliced. I could do that! Cook it medium, cut it in half, and add a little fire to the second half. This stumped the waiter, but after consultation he said yes. But apparently it also stumped the chef - it all came out well-done. We sent it back. Came out well-done a second time, and fatty and grisly too. Maybe that was the revenge. We had wanted to go to Hakkasan, also in the Fountainebleu, a beautiful restaurant, with perfect food, and a helpful staff. But they were closed. Stripsteak is no substitute. To try as many items on the menu as possible without feeling like a hippo, we decided to go with the Miami Spice Menu. First off, service was impeccable, we had 2 servers taking care of us, I believe their names were Sean & Elode. Super attentive and had great suggestions for drinks and side plates. Drinks looked and tasted delicious! Our server brought us Parker House rolls infused with truffle butter, it was to die for! Sean suggested we order additional sides since the sides that came with the Miami Spice entree was kinda small. Decided to order the trio sides, Brussels Sprouts and a double serving of Truffle Mac & Cheese because we are fatties. Appetizers: Kale Salad & Pork Belly was Deeeelicious! Kale was tasty for being ... well Kale and Pork Belly was sweet and tangy. The Steak Tartare was tasty but nothing out of this world. Since it was steakhouse, we all ordered the Filet Mignon for our main entree, and I was actually surprised by how large the steak was, a full 8 oz! While it was cooked to perfection, I wasn't blown away by the flavor. I noticed that additional salt was added to the steak which I felt made the steak too salty and overpowered the natural flavors that comes with a good steak. I'm not a steak connoisseur so maybe others may enjoy the extra salty flavor. The mini sides of whipped potatoes was nothing out of this world, however the Broccolini was tasty even though I only received 1 stalk of it. This is where the trio sides come in! Brussels Sprouts & truffle Mac & Cheese were delicious, although some of the Sprouts tasted burnt, couldn't really see them due to low lighting. Dessert consisted of the Malted Chocolate Mousse & the Floridian. If you like chocolate & coffee, go with the 1st choice. I was here during the South Beach Food & Wine festival. I was tired of the big crowded. My BF and O just wanted to be alone date night in Miami. Stripsteak was the right choice. I've been to other StripSteak locations but was never here. The place beautiful, adjacent to a happening bar, but once you walk downstairs, through the wine cellar, it was such a turn on, such a treat. Stripsteak is such a new mordern steakhouse, nice and spacious lay out, top of the line steak, beautiful creative cocktail list and the fresh seafoods of Miami has to offered. I was so thrilled to be here. Chef Michael Mina was happened to be in town then. And the wonder manager and sommelier took so good care of us through a tasting of just about a bit of everything from the sea to the land. We got the best Booth, facing the seafood station. We were drooling literally ;) and the lobster was as fresh as that morning by a local guy across the hotel, wow! Talk about freshness! The oysters, the crazy gigantic Stone Crab claws, we can't have enough of it. And the steak was perfectly cooked and sliced for us. But what we both crazy about was their infamous "Truffle Butter Bread", it was damn good that we to ask 1 extra. And you know how I feel about bread and bikini the next I'm South Beach ;) bikini can wait, bread first! I recently was a guest at Prime 54 steakhouse and I wouldn't call our experience 5 star. This is because number one, the service was horrible. We were a large party with nine children and ordered right away. However, the food came two hours later. With a 6:15 reservation it was past a lot of kids bedtime when the food came. Stripsteak was an enjoyable Miami Spice experience. The place is stunning and spacious. The service was excellent. The drinks at the bar upstairs were exquisite. But the food was not something that I felt really showcased their strengths. I started with the shrimp cocktail which was light and refreshing. Others in my party chose the wedge salad which looked very good. A few of us ordered the salmon and others ordered the filet mignon. My salmon was okay. I felt like it was lacking in flavor, but the bed of roasted mushrooms saved the dish. Those were delicious. Finally, we had the key lime pie with blackberry-ginger frozen yogurt. the frozen yogurt was my favorite item. The meal was filling. Those in our party who had the steak commented that they were just okay. I'd like to give Stripsteak another chance as I see so many great reviews about it. This is my first time visiting Stripsteak, thanks to a "birthday surprise". For a whole week my husband would not tell me where we were going except that it is a "steak and seafood place" so I was kept in the dark until we pulled up to the entrance of the Fontainebleau. The room is beautiful, like a set piece of Mad Men: mid century design, dark wood, brown leather. . We got seated in a booth right next to the kitchen (which is absolutely spotless) and our server Brock (who is absolutely wonderful) delivered a martini to me (I wonder who told the restaurant my default drink) and took our orders. We watched the kitchen prep and deliver our meal the entire time. Oh, let's not forget the bread: served in a little metal pan, a brioche stuffed (i mean STUFFED) with truffle butter. I have to stop myself eating more than a piece so i do not spoil my appetite. First came the seafood tower: crab legs, lobster (salad and poached), east and west coast oysters, tuna tartare, and shrimp that can almost qualify as small lobsters in lesser places. A claw that wasn't cracked was sent back to be cracked and a couple of extra crab legs were sent to our table (thank you). Next came an array of appetizers: Seared foie gras on brioche, Steak tartare, and "instant bacon" (pork belly), all perfectly cooked and served. Seth, the bartender, served up some really tasty cocktails both on and off the menu. Then comes the main event: Meat. bone-in ribeye at the perfect temperature (rare bloody rare), a Chateaubriand, some lovely Wagyu rib cap, and lamp chops, all accompanied by sauces and sides (smoked blue cheese is excellent, on everything). I was caught in a meat-induced trance. Overall, i rank this as one of the best steakhouse experience i have ever had (and i have been to plenty of them). I'm just beginning to appreciate him based cocktails and I was impressed. For my appetizer, I had the Ricotta Cavatelli (braised short rib ragout, tomato, Parmesan). It was delicious! Perfect sized portion. Full of flavor. Very similar taste to gnocchi. My cousin had the Roasted Corn Soup (springnonion, fa a bean, smoked bacon lardon). Very tasty, fresh, and smoky. For my entree, I had Pan-Seared Striped Bass (fennel purée, bok choy, sweet soy glaze). Delicious flavor profile. Perfectly cooked fish. Everyone else had the Grilled Beef Churrasco (crispy russet potato, chimichurri). They all said that it was great. For dessert, I chose the Passion Fruit Panna Cotta. Probably one of the best Panna Cotta I've ever had! It was amazing. Tart with fresh raspberries, white chocolate, cocoa powder. Just delicious! If I had the patience to make this my 200th review, I would, but Michael Mina's STRIPSTEAK story needs immediate attention. Of course The Mina Group has a reputation for extraordinary culinary expertise in all of his 30 restaurants nationwide which started in San Francisco, and has earned the respect of the industry for endless creativity. What impressed me the MOST, though, here,at Stripsteak (which is located in the Fountainebleau Resort) besides the perfect creative dishes we experienced and the intimate, romantic atmosphere, was the impeccable service and care that the whole staff gave my wife and I this evening. So much so, that it became the best part of our experience. The hostess sat us at the perfect rounded , romantic booth nicely spaced away from the tables and other similar booths next to us. We were on the lower level dining room as there are 2 floors with the wine cellar following us down the stairs. Romantic lighting, and comfortable seating. Our waiter, Alexander approached us with a warm greeting, all smiles and gave us a great welcome to start the night. Even though Stripsteak has an incredible wine selection, we showed him the wine we selected from our home cellar, which thankfully we were able to bring for a $30.00 corkage fee. One of he two General Managers, David, came over to introduce himself and kindly showed us a choice of 2 wine glasses we could chose from to drink our wine, as we are very picky about the size and width of the glasses when we are drinking our wines. No, we are not "wine snobs", but for sure it makes a difference. David brought the glasses over as Alexander prepared us on the menu and the specials. Incredible. Then the sky opened when we met Jennifer, the Sommelier, who came over and introduced herself and prepared our wine in the decanter and was extremely personable as she answered our questions about what she does as s Sommelier for the Mina Group at Stripsteak and what it takes to prepare for all her levels of expertise. She was so proud to tell us the incredible responsibilities she has to keep the wine selections interesting, cost effective and she did this as she opened and served our first taste and prepared the decanter. She was there for us all night. The wine list has many top shelf wines so prepare for the price, or bring your own wine. We had heard about their Truffle Bread from dear friends of ours and could not wait to taste this. Yes, there was delicious bread infused with Truffle Butter inside and as you cut the bread we could just see it flowing out from the middle. As good as it was we tried not to devour the whole serving as we wanted to save ourselves for what was to come off the menu. Appetizers: I ordered the Instant Bacon, which was braised pork belly with smoked pineapple and radish salad. What a flavorful combination. Without even cutting into the pineapple, the meat already had the pineapple flavor in every bite, delicious and recommend for sure. My wife had the Kobacha Pumpkin Soup, Smoothly pureed with an onion foam in the middle. A delight with every spoonful. Entrees: Well, we were at Stripsteak and Michael Mina is known for incredibly prepared steaks of every cut. We have been to his Bourbon Steak restaurant in Turnberry, so we know!!! I ordered the 16 oz Bone in Strip Steak, dry aged, medium rare. One can plainly see how perfect this steak was cooked and flavor was better than any steakhouse I've been to. My wife had the 8 oz Filet MIgnon, medium. Perfectly tender. The menu has several "Steak Accompaniments" like béarnaise, truffle butter and crab toppings, but we kept it bare bones to get the whole flavor. For the side dish, we split a baked potato with the toppings on the side. Let me just say that every bite of food, and every sip of wine was as enjoyable as the last, and we took it slow. As we were enjoying our meal, Erin, the 2nd General Manager came over, all smiles to "genuinely" want to know how we were. Yes, I said a SECOND General Manager. She was so complimentary to my wife and her bright red dress, that we kidded with her and told her she would of never stopped by if it wasn't for my wife's dress. And all this attention continued with our incredible server, Alexander, David, and our special Jennifer always attentive to our wine needs. I really think they all made our food taste even better. Topping it off, at the end of the evening , we all enjoyed each other so much, David took me for a tour of their kitchen. So organized and clean, and everyone in the kitchen had their own special responsibility. The food was set up to go on one station and checked before it went out on another. That explains the detail that was put into the Steakhouse experience and Michael Mina's restaurant philosophy. I made this reservation purely because it was my husband's birthday, I noted it so on the reservation and when the lady called to confirm on the day she said they will bring a dessert plate wishing him happy birthday. We both were very full after the first two courses but I insisted on dessert because it was his birthday and I knew he would get his birthday plate. It was disappointing that the birthday plate did not come. Either the hosts or our waiter David dropped the ball, but after a $350 Birthday dinner ... which did not live up to expectations of celebrating his actual birthday.... I'm disappointed! I've stayed in Fontainebleau countless times over the years, and the food in all the restaurants is usually great. We came on a random weekday, so I get that they aren't trying as hard as on the weekend when it's very busy, but come on! Every single dish was over salted (coming from someone who loves salt), and the mashed potatoes were very obviously made from powder.
