I've been to Prime One Twelve maybe a half-dozen times over the years, but last weekend was the first time I had been since COVID. Here was the saddest part for me--South Beach is totally dead now, so the restaurant's location, even the amount of people inside, felt like it was a scene out of any US airport in those first few months after COVID kicked off. It was strangely dead inside at 10 PM. I intentionally booked my dinner for 10, because when I last went (as well as every other time I've shown up there) it was so packed at 10 PM that we had to wait 30 minutes for our 10 PM table to even open up. I have been to this place and seen legit celebrities, NBA basketball teams after they have finished games against the Heat, local politicians...Prime One Twelve used to be the spot. And even though it is not now (nor is South Beach, so I can't blame the restaurant for that), the meal we had was sensational. This might have been the best meal I've had at P112. Our two steaks were perfect, including a NY strip that was seared just right. The sides were on point, the cocktails were great, and the desserts were almost all great too (the fried oreos work anywhere, and the foot-tall chocolate cake was a little dry but so perfect with the schlag). The brussels, the onion rings, the truffle mac...look, it all worked, and even though our party of four was sitting outside alone for most of our meal time, I still enjoyed myself immensely. I usually gravitate towards the "scene" when I travel because people watching is what Miami does so well. But until I find another steakhouse somewhere in Brickell or Wynwood or whatever neighborhood becomes hot next (we all know the scene shifts in Miami overnight, right?), I may come back to P112 on my next visit. read more

This has to be one of the worst steaks I've even had and I've eating at Prime 112 many times. I ordered the tomahawk which was $525, they charge by the ounce, all good it was me and two girls. However the steak wasn't even good, grizzly fat I couldn't even cut through. I've been to prime 112 many times started around 20 years ago, it used to be good. Past few years it gone downhill with the food quality I feel and the crowd that goes there has gotten lower end seems like. Maybe they're sourcing their meat from producer with lower quality, no idea. Always a staple in Miami . We used to fly in for the weekend from LA , DC , no matter where we lived , to eat at Prime 112 ! All of theses years later, ( we're locals now 9 years) and still enjoy dining here! Their sea bass is prepared so deliciously it will rival any seabass you've ever tasted anywhere else! We love the fresh seafood selection for starters . My husband grew up in New England and even says how great the Maine lobster cocktail is here! he loves the Kumo oysters and you can't find better and bigger shrimp than the shrimp. They have here at prime 112.! I love that we can order just one because it's literally the size of our face lol. Tonight I had the filet mignon instead of the Seabass and it was so freaking good and tasty that I didn't even even need to use the two sauces that I ordered with it. It's hard to find a good filet mignon anywhere even high end restaurants because I feel like a lot of them are using meat glue to glue pieces of meat together to make it look like a center cut fillet and that definitely was not in question here at Prime 112 tonight. You can't go wrong with any of their sides, but the truffle corn is always a staple for us even though I don't like corn I love trust truffle, and my husband doesn't like truffle, but he loves corn and this dish together is just delicious for both of us! The salads could feed 4-6 people, so just know that when you're ordering. I promise you you can't go wrong with any of the food at 1:12 it's truly the best food. Their service is phenomenal as always. The restaurant is crowded, packed and loud. It's definitely hustle and bustle. there's always an athlete or someone famous there to spot. I've wanted to fine for here for quite some time, but for one reason or another, it never came into fruition. I made it a point of emphasis this excursion to Miami, to make it happen. I wasn't sure I'd be able to dine because I wasn't dressed appropriately, as my flight home was supposed to be that day. I was told it was fine and allowed entry. The staff here was very friendly and welcoming-- they even offered to store my luggage. I already knew what I wanted and was working with limited time. I opted for the Salmon, which comes with Mashed Potatoes and Asparagus. In addition, I got two sides, Macaroni and Cheese and Creamed Spinach. I figured I'd have leftovers for the plane ride. The Salmon was excellent and rather large serving of it. The Macaroni was okay, but I didn't feel like the elbows were cooked thoroughly enough and were a little hard. The Spinach was excellent. They know almost more than you what you want, what you will like. If you over order, they will let you know. It's first class New York service on South Beach. Done with your bread plate? It's whisked away in a second. The table constantly cleaned, set and re-set. No need to ask for new silverware...it'll appear. Taking something home? it will be boxed up, properly, for you and placed in a bag and brought to your table. No do it yourself "here's a box and good luck" service. it pays to look over the menu. And we arrived about 10 mins early and was seated right away. Our servers name was Carlos , he was awesome! Exactly what I would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. Tbh, it wasn't just him attending to us. There were a few ladies who came by frequently to keep our water glasses filled, they took our empty plates immediately and kept our table clean, wiping it down often. They didn't have a few of the cuts on the menu but it was ok, they have a large enough selection. We started with the Caesar salad. For $20 it was enough to feed 3-4 people! Fresh, loved the shaved pieces of parm on top. Don't indulge because when your food comes they do Not skimp! We both ordered filet mignon, cooked medium well with the peppercorn sauce. Along with the mashed sweet potatoe and vanilla bean, creamed spinach, and truffle Mac. If you are unsure of truffles don't try it because they give you truffles baby!! I love it and the cheese pull was perfect. Everything came out relatively quick and was hot! We were so full off eating the salad we barely touched the food but it was delicious. Had high expectations but was unfortunately let down. First we had a reservation at 8:30 pm, but we could not be seated until our entire party arrived which was fine. We were all there by 8:45 pm at which point the hostess said there was only outdoor seating available. This was frustrating as it was not clarified that our reservation could be indoors or outdoors. Next, when our dishes arrived, the workers who brought them to our table placed them all at the wrong seat. They were quickly frustrated that we said the dishes were wrong and said they are only told numbers, not what the actual dish is. Someone from our group who is Spanish speaking noted they were speaking badly about us in Spanish in front of our faces (talking about how we were asking too many questions and were being demanding). The next issue was they mixed up how the meat was cooked on two of our steaks. One person who requested medium got medium rare and the person who requested medium rare got medium. Another person ordered the lamb and the meat smelled rotten. When the person who accidentally got the medium rare requested the steak be cooked again, the meat came back also smelling rotten. I don't know what's going on with this restaurant but it was overall a poor experience and would not return. I expected much more highly of this restaurant especially regarding the prices. read more

We were in town for the wine and food festival and had made reservations for Friday night at Prime 112, as we do every year. When we arrived we decided to eat at the bar., well that was a mistake. Andrew was our bartender, we felt like we annoyed him being there, well at least that is the feel he projected to us.Normally we would have eaten and had after dinner drinks, instead we got our check and went elsewhere for drinks and dessert. Ohhh boy where to start, located not far from the water right on Collins ave, it offers great seaside breeze but it falls short when it comes to the food, the ambience a little loud but great dining experience. The meat left much to be desired. As a steakhouse, you'd except the steak to be a cut above of all, but it was lacking a bit of flavor and too dry even thought I ordered medium rare with a bit of charred on top. The service was ok our waiter was running around like a chicken without a head as it was a Saturday evening dinner event for 10, but just too much. I will not return to the spot that's for sure. We had not been to Prime 112 since before Covid 19 hit. We loved coming here because the food and service were always up to par. We also visited their other restaurants, Prime Fish and Prime Italian. We decided to come here for our Christmas Eve dinner, which is always very special to us. Because we believed nothing had changed, we didn't check Yelp's rating before coming here. It was 2.5 stars. Big lesson learned by us. We arrived at our reservation time. Valeted the car ($20). The valet staff were really nice, happy guys, and were very welcoming! We were seated right away, close to our usual spot. We noticed there is no 6 feet of social distancing between tables, but it was too cold to sit outdoors. So we went with the flow. We each ordered the Shrimp Cocktail for an appetizer, two 8 Oz Filet Mignons, Mashed Sweet Potatoes, Lobster Coleslaw, and Cauliflower Mash accompanied by 2 Merlots For the dessert, we ordered the Smores concoction. We were very disappointed that our Filets were very dry and tough to cut. I had to really press down with my knife. This situation didn't happen here a few years ago. Also, there was barely any flavor to the Filet. Maybe they were out of seasonings. We were both surprised. The Cauliflower mash was good, but it was a skimpy amount for two people! It doesn't cost much at the grocery store, but we were charged $20+ for the small dish. The rest of the dinner was good but not extra special. We placed an order of Lobster Mac n Cheese to go also. We looked forward to their wonderful Smores dessert! It's not the same as before! Gone was the better quality, sweeter chocolate that was so delicious. Instead, some bitter dark chocolate was in its place. There was a huge amount of peanut butter that didn't taste fresh and sparingly added melted marshmallows. There was no ice cream! Talk about disappointment! Before we left Prime, we agreed we would not be coming back here for a very long time! Our bill was $414.90 for the two of us. Merry Christmas! The service was very good. Very attentive and friendly. Note: The trendy Miami restaurants are currently competing like crazy to be in the Top 10. I am sad to say Prime 112 used to be at the top. It was the hottest restaurant in town. On Christmas Eve , there was standing room only waiting to get inside, even standing outdoors in line. Not this year. Honestly the reason this place is getting any stars at all is because the bartender made a perfect dirty martini, our server was attentive, and we had a celeb sighting. We had an 8:30pm reservation on a Monday and still had to wait half an hour to be seated. The lobster mac and cheese had a hair in the first scoop we took so we sent it back and cancelled that since it's obviously coming from the same batch if we ordered another one. My crab crusted grouper was overcooked and so dry. I was so disappointed. It came out super fast after we ordered so maybe it had been sitting out. This was one of the first fine dining restaurants I went to when I first moved to South Florida in 2021. The food is definitely pricey, but the portions are well worth it! I love seafood and always appreciate a good lobster roll. This was my first time having a lobster roll served chilled, and I surprisingly enjoyed it a lot. We (my family of 4) went at 3:00 p.m. on a Sunday afternoon, so there wasn't a crowd or the need to make a reservation. Our servers were very attentive & took their time to explain the food and drink menus. Prime One Twelve was so accommodating. I called in at least 4 times to revise the reservation and they were super helpful. I also felt like the initial section we were seated in was too tight, voiced my concern and was immediately moved to a more spacious section. Oh! And had the pleasure of have my martini chauffeured to and from the tables we were seated at to avoid an accident. Might I add, this was voluntary service offered by multiple waiter/waitresses throughout the restaurant. For food: we decided to try their tomahawk special which was a whopping $250 on this night. It was an a la carte and shareable as it was 50oz. We paired this with the lobster Mac and cheese. The absolute best thing in their menu in my option. The steak was not the best. We asked for medium well and it came charred at the top which disrupts the taste a great deal. I took one bite, unfortunately. It also missed the mark on being flavorful. As always, parking first ...def Uber. The location is a serious south beach hotspot which is great but with that comes parking challenges. They do have a good valet service though. Most of the cars are rolls Royce, Bentleys and the likes of Ferrari. We felt pretty dull in our vehicle LOL Anyway, we went for drinks right before the start of South Beach Wine and Food festival. I reserved a table in advance, the hostess were very nice and accommodating. I have to say for an expensive steakhouse, inside it felt very cramped. Anybody walking behind me kept bumping into me, there wasn't a lot of rooms in between tables. I ordered a filet mignon and my girlfriend ordered the wagyu churrasco. We ordered our steaks medium, and they both came back under overcooked. The sides were very bland, nothing was overly tasty. Stopped over in Miami for a night and I had to come to my favorite Southbeach restaurant, Prime One Twelve. This place is unique to say the least. Unlike the glitz and glamor of star studded SOBE, Prime One Twelve is located at the end of Ocean Drive, away from all the action. The building looks like a 1950's constructed house in Alabama which totally makes you scratch your head because of its popularity. Inside is nicely decorated but tight because quite frankly, Prime One Twelve is small. With that being said, the food is top notch and when it comes to high end restaurants, that's the #1 objective. The service is impeccable, so there you have it.. #1 and #2 is covered! Then you have a bar that serves unlimited bacon while you wait to be seated or dine in place. That alone had me at HELLO.. (Love at first BITE!). The night we came the Miami Heat were getting their eat on.. That was cool and speaks to the hype! If you choose to experience Prime 112 and you should, definitely make reservations or you may have to wait until your next Miami trip.. Lol!! read more

I've heard the name of Prime 112 for years so I was in town for my Anniversary with my girlfriend and decided to check it out. I had reservations at 5:30, got seated right away. It is very intimately decorated but very small and cramped. Our waiter Chris was amazing! Knew every special they had like the back of his hand down to the sides and pricing. We decided to order the Tomahawk ribeye ($270) with Mashed potatoes ($19), tube of Bone Marrow($14), and one fried shrimp ($14), Garlic and Herb butter ($8), and a baked potato ($19). I believe I have listed everything positive about my experience. The complimentary bread just wasn't not good. The cheddar biscuit was okay. The other two lacked flavor period. The one ($14) shrimp was over fried and dry as all get out. 0-10 The ($270) Tomahawk steak was average at best. The ends were EXTRA well done but the middle was perfectly medium. It was dusted with salt but not nearly enough for the thickness of meat. That was corrected by just asking for more and it made it better. By NO MEANS WAS THAT STEAK GOOD ENOUGH TO JUSTIFY THE PRICE! $125-150 MAX and even that is pushing it. The mashed potatoes were great! Smooth, light, creamy. The highlight of the meal. Baked potato tasted reheated. Bone marrow, looked good but didn't really have a taste. For a $500 meal (one glass of wine was included) I expected far more a tasty experience than I received. Our only issue was our steak temperatures- we both ordered medium-well and our steaks came out medium rare/medium. We had to send them back.
