Seeing we were the only table in the entire restaurant made me apprehensive but eventually the place started to fill up. That's my only criticism of the restaurant AND where we live on the West Coast everyone is asleep when Miami just starts picking up. Now to the service and food. Food was stunning. Nothing short of magnificent. The bread. Don't order the bread, order two. HFS. Now I want to make bread at home. Next, the Tiradito de Pulpo, yeah order that too. Amazing flavors and texture. Great experience at Orilla! Stopped in on a Saturday night without revelations and got a seat at the bar, no problem (was a bit dead due to spring break and people avoiding area). The server was attentive and we tried an array of options. The fresh baked sourdough bread came warm and was amazing! The burrata lacked a bit in flavor but the calamari was perfectly prepared and tasty! As for entrees, we had prime rib and 8oz filet- both which were flavorful. The gravy with the steak truly made the dish. I did have to send the steak back to cook a bit more to medium once I was at center of meat but no issues with that request. They also have a nice drink menu with a variety of options. The dark lighting and ambiance is great for date night! I would definitely recommend and return. read more

I recently visited with my family on a Sunday night. Overall, I agree with other people's comments about the décor, atmosphere, and vibe. Upbeat and lively without being excessive. We loved the entrees. Everyone in my family either had the filet mignon or flank steak, and they all came out well. The flank steaks were surprisingly huge and turned out to be a great value. On the other hand, most of side dishes we ordered were a ripoff. The portions for the fennell salad and broccolini were pathetically small considering the $17 and $12 cost. The french fries were likely frozen-- they were McDonald's quality--so skip them too. In sum: stick to entrees only and don't order any sides. Despite the good food, the reason for my low review is the non-existent service. It was a hot night, and we were thirsty. We ordered still tap water to drink. Unfortunately, Orilla serves its water in a wine-bottle sized carafe, and that wasn't enough for a thirsty party of five. After the food came, our server never came back to check on us, and no one refilled the carafe. Our glasses stayed dry most of the night. Absolutely, totally, completely inexcusable. My whole family was frustrated and uncomfortable most of the evening because we had nothing to drink. It was a slow night and we couldn't get anyone's attention. Toward the end of the meal, our server finally returned and we got him to bring another carafe, but it wasn't long until that was empty and the frustration returned. It was only after the meal it occurred to me I probably should've just taken the empty carafe to the bathroom and filled it up in the sink. That would've solved the problem. I suppose this is to be expected. When a restaurant slaps an automatic 18% tip on the bill before the meal even begins, a server obviously has less incentive to check on you during the meal. I felt ashamed in front of my family because I personally picked Orilla, so I had to take the blame for their hellish experience. But the server still got his 18%! I'll stay away from Orilla from now on. There's no lack of good food in Miami Beach. But now that tipping is mandatory, you need to vote with your feet when lack of service results in a bad experience. Stick to the places where they take care of you, and avoid the places where they don't. We weren't asking for much. A simple two-cent refill of tap water by a server or busboy would've instantly elevated this review from a two stars to five stars. Orilla simply didn't feel like taking care of us. read more

They did comp my meal, but at that point, I was already tired of sitting there and did not want anything else. For those interested in using the Chase 75 off 150 credit in conjunction with Miami Spice, I would say it's an ok use, but without the credit, wildly overpriced for the food quality. The streaky wine glasses were the first thing I noticed, which isn't a great start. The flank steak was quite tough with a medium cook, unrested with juice pooling out, and the fries had that frozen taste to them. The beef empanada dough was spectacular and the filling not bad either. Probably the highlight of the meal. The short rib ravioli had a truffle oil flavor that went too far (although all truffle oil does). Tostada app was interesting and good overall. Flan was nice and what you would expect, and the pavlova was different and not bad, though lacking that pillowy quality in the middle. It's and 80 dollar meal IMHO, so the credit helps, but 150 is absurd. Lovely servers though. read more

Another Great Time at Orilla Once again, we had the pleasure of celebrating a birthday here, and this time it was for my brother. From the moment we were greeted by the lovely hostess to the warmth of our table, we had such a wonderful experience. Our waitress, Ludo, brought such a positive energy and offered fantastic suggestions; she practically crafted our entire meal, and every dish was exceptional. My Branzino was simply a delight, complemented perfectly by the fresh tomato salad, and the steak was incredibly juicy. And the drink she put her spin on was so good I have forgotten the name but it had Mezcal and it was somewhat sour but sweet! The birthday dessert was such a thoughtful touch, just the right amount to share. We had an unforgettable time, and I definitely plan to return, especially considering how well we were treated. Despite this, and the fact that it was Saturday evening and they probably were itching to turn the table, we never felt rushed. Our server, Nani I believe, was exactly as attentive as you would hope - always there when you needed something, but never hovering. Perfect. The food was good. I had the NY Strip and my wife's had the filet. Both were perfectly cooked to our medium rare request. Fries were crisp and the mashed potatoes were also excellent. I would have liked a couple of extra choices on the menu: maybe a terrine or pate, and a basic salad - there were several more imaginative salads, but I enjoy a simple salad some times. I went to Orilla a couple of weeks ago for my sister's bday and we had a great time! The restaurant had a dj and the music was great for a Friday night dinner party! I will say that although our server was very nice and polite, the service was a little slow, especially to receive our first drinks, which took about 20 minutes for her to even come to the table. But I do feel like it was made for in other ways and everyone from the staff that we encountered was lovely. The drinks and the food were all good and we enjoyed all of it. My favorite was the black squid ink rice, which is probably one of the best rice dishes I've had in a long time. Im not a huge dessert fan, but the baked alaska was delicious too. Ordered the octopus ceviche(amazing) and empanadas(spinach, in my opinion, was way better than the meat). For main course, we had the Chilean sea bass which was perfectly cooked, buttery, and simply delicious. The petite filet was also flavorful and cooked as ordered. We started off with a custom cocktail and glass of wine at the bar while waiting a short while for our table (Orilla was able to accommodate a rather last-minute request to move our reservation to an hour later from 630 to 730, which most places seem completely incapable and unwilling to do and for which we were very appreciative). Our bartender chatted with us in an un-rushed manner and on request proceeded to construct a custom tequila cocktail, showing us the bottles of liqueur and ingredients as he made the drink. This was next level - something you don't experience at many places. We loved the atmosphere and the interior of the restaurant. Our food was amazing. We started with the Tostada Mexicana which really was amazing, and the Endive Salad (which I appreciate because it's so hard to find endive greens where I live). We had meat the night before, so we wanted non-meat entrees. We got the truffle fettuccine special which was savory, earthy (they shaved the truffle at the table, nice touch) and had a delicious buttery flavor, and the bucatini with shrimp with an amazing tangy fresh tomato sauce with just a bit of a "kick". We also ordered the brussel sprouts because, well, we love them, and they were excellent. We had no idea what to expect, choosing Orilla because of its high Yelp rating and walkability from our hotel in Miami Beach (we stayed at the Fairwind at 1000 Collins Ave.). The star of the show was the burrata, tomatoes and bread. The tomato salad was wayyy better than I was expecting. The vinaigrette that was on top was delicious. We were surprised to find this gem so quiet on a Friday night, given the rave reviews on Yelp. We arrived and were given the option of inside or on one of two patios serving Orilla. We opted for an inside seat away from the traffic of the entrance, and our journey began. The restaurant's ambiance is very trendy and upscale. Dim lighting compliments your meal. Our server, Enrique, greeted us immediately and was a pleasure to have assist us from beginning to end of the meal. The 80s child inside of me beckoned the It's a Match martini, a fruity drink with a side of pop rocks; hubby kept it simple with a beer. At Enrique's recommendation, we tried the burrata with bread; it was divine! I had the rigatoni pomodoro, which was good also, though a bit more basic than expected. My husband had the ribeye and a Caesar salad. The ribeye was, according to my husband, one of the best he's ever eaten. However, it was a bit over cooked, which is simply not acceptable for a restaurant of this caliber, hence the one star deduction. The Caesar was deconstructed but otherwise relatively unassuming but for the dressing, which was quite delicious. The prices are quite high at Orilla, but that is to be expected given the area, quality of food and service. We were happy with our decision and grateful to have the opportunity to enjoy ourselves in a lovely environment without feeling rushed as you do in some establishments. Our meal started with the burrata and spicy beef empanadas. The empanadas were great, but burrata was underwhelming - it just didn't pack much flavor and needed an accompaniment in my opinion. Next up was the Wagyu Tomahawk (a daily special). It was a perfect medium rare on the inside, paired with a fantastic chimchurri and rock salt. Near perfection. The fries were also amazing! We wrapped up with the pavlova for dessert, which is a unique tropical fruit combo with activated charcoal. Sound weird, is unique, but tastes great. This is a must visit in Miami! read more

I should know better than to trust a hotel restaurant, one on South Beach at that, but Orilla's gorgeous ambience and Argentinian menu called to me. It was also one of our first nights in Miami and we were wanting to go somewhere we could be dressy at, so we settled on this clubstaurant. It seems that every other restaurant on South Beach is very dimly lit so you can hardly see your food and there's a DJ booth so you can hardly hear the people around you. What I could see of the decor inside was really sleek and beautiful though. We ordered empanadas, tuna tartare, bucatini with shrimp, and the black rice with squid, smoked pork belly, and homemade saffron lactones. Cocktails were good, as was the black rice with squid, but portions were small. Service was a little chaotic as we had to wait a long while before we could place our orders and then two different servers came to our table at different points, not knowing that we were being helped by someone else. I know now with some hindsight that this is kind of the vibe at many restaurants in the area, but I'm thankful of Orilla for educating me on what the status quo of dining on South Beach is. read more

We went for a meat lovers birthday and the staff was ready to celebrate with us from the initial greeting to the complimentary champagne at the end. The cocktails are something to explore as a group.
