Prime Italian South Beach has a beautiful dimly lit ambiente vibe that sets the perfect mood. It was my third time dining here and the portions are absolutely massive. I ordered the biggest veal parmesan of my life, and the macaroni and cheese was incredibly rich and full of flavor. I went in hungry and walked out feeling like the Michelin man . I was stuffed more than a turkey on Thanksgiving, and the calamari put me over the top. I've worked in fine dining restaurants for a few years and they really didn't miss a beat of any little detail. Always a "pardon my reach," good pacing of the dishes to the table, a great attitude. First time dining at Prime Italian. I was excited to try it. The restaurant was only somewhat busy when we arrived. This was probably due to the rainy weather. When we left, they were packed! I highly suggest making a reservation, which I had done. We started with their complimentary garlic bread. Holy moly! This stuff is Goooood. It is a little greasy, but not too much. It is so good that I ordered a whole loaf to bring home. The sauce is a nice added touch. I love red sauce and this one is amazing. The Italian house salad is very good. There is soppressata in it. I asked for it on the side but it was very good. There is also hearts of palm which is awesome and a rare find. The dressing was very good. Our server dropped a piece of lettuce as she was serving our salads and puts it back in the bowl with the leftover salad. Not the most hygienic thing to do but ok. This was a bowl we were still going to take salad from. The chicken parmigiana was ok. It's not bad or anything but it's funny because I actually prefer the one I make. This is odd because I am not an expert cook or anything. I do like theirs just not in love with it. The size of it is huge!!! That is definitely enough for four people. We did not even eat half. My husband and I ordered two passion fruit margaritas.. they were not good at all. The waiter was so nice and tried to fix it but I think it was more in the bartender than him. I went to Prime Italian exactly one month ago and now is when I am getting around to review it, but I had to because I had such a nice experience! I know they have been around now for a long while, but this was my first time going and I had a great time! To start off, I was very impressed by our server, which I unfortunately forgot his name. He was sooo attentive, informative, and helpful. What I really loved about here was that as a lot of dishes are family style, the server would actually go around and serve your plate for you with different dishes. A little surprised to see that this restaurant has 3.5 stars. We went with a party of 5 and had an amazing experience. Our server was super cool and very attentive. The food was really good. The garlic bread was addicting. I had the Branzino and ate it all. Everyone else at the table had short rib or steak or pasta and no one had any complaints. Have been a frequent visitor to Prime Italian over the years but I think this my last time. Our server was excellent. Friendly and helpful. Chopped salad and lobster pizza are always so good. But they are cutting corners and raising prices at an alarming rate. The garlic bread is the best in town, but now they give you a half portion (and it was not Miami Spice). A Malbec that cost $60 3 years ago is now $95. The chopped salad has gone up by $10; the pizza by $15. This is not the cost of inflation, it's highway robbery. I'm sure they think the tourists are lemmings and won't notice, but I'm a local and they are driving me away. read more

The team running this restaurant does not focus on the customer experience. Our reservation for 4 at 8pm was ignored. We were greeted by a less than pleasant hostess, directing us to the bar and made to wait close to an hour for a table. There were two other groups at the bar facing the same situation. The service at the table was good and the food was akin to the food you would get at a local pizza place. Considering the prices on the menu, we should have had a much better experience. We made reservations for my husbands birthday and when I tell you the service has gone DOWN!!!!!! The waitress was so so rude and snappy. So let me just say I'm very late with my review but the food is amazing here. The ambience is beautiful , relaxing just right for my husband and I 5th year anniversary March 11th,2021 These photos I uploaded are an understatement. The food was literally delicious. Now we shared the lobster cocktail which was so fresh and good. The crab cake we tried because my husband and I go to each restaurant to try and this by far was great I love the corn added. Those were our appetizers of course so now on to the entrees. I ordered the sea bass which was cooked to perfection why I add. Fresh but seasoned well nothing needed and my husband had the lobster bisque which had chunks of lobster in it. We both shared the sides as you see are big. Those Brussels sprouts are the best I had literally the way they cook those were amazing. The mashed so great add on and delicious. Now we got full and took the food home. Well I did my hi and ate the whole lobster bisque and I tried it very good. If you wish to come share the sides it's worth it and I'll be going again. read more

Let me preface by saying I am not a big fan of "tourist spots" so I'm conveying my bias up front. MASSIVE portions. 1. Service was impeccable - would give 5 stars. The busser/runner Gabriel is such an asset to this restaurant. He was cleaning/clearing/setting up tables so quickly. Very efficient. Our server was great - welcoming guy. 2. I don't understand the lack of a traditional mixed greens salad without all of the "extra." My husband ordered the fried mozzarella just for the arugula and tomatoes it sat atop. The arugula was so fresh and fantastic I'm bewildered why they don't have an arugula salad. 3. The short rib risotto was ok - hubby added shaved black truffle. 4. The best was my order - the meatball with salad and added ricotta (reminiscing of Macaluso's - iykyk). Happy to see a plain mixed salad with it but fell SO flat. Just ate the meatball and ricotta. And disappointingly - when I got to the bottom of the ramekin there was a glob of cold chocolate. Gross. Gabriel brought a fresh ramekin of ricotta but that made me lose my appetite. Manager stopped by and handled properly. 5. Husband ordered the massive birthday cake. He loved it. If you want a sugar coma this is definitely it. So many other good Italian places to go so I wouldn't go out of my way to come back. Date of Visit: May 18, 2024 Occasion: Lunch after my daughter's graduation Party Size: 10-12 people Server: Hallie Experience: Our experience at Prime Italian was disappointing, to say the least. We were a party of 10-12 people celebrating a special occasion. Upon arrival, we were surprised to find our table set up in front of the kitchen, which was an open space with no doors, exposing us to the hot ovens. Not great under normal conditions but this day, the A/C was not working and it was very hot in the restaurant despite all the restaurant doors being opened and the big, makeshift portable A/C unit next to our table (that wasn't on for some reason). Our server, Hallie, seemed visibly annoyed from start to finish. It was unclear if her frustration was due to having to take our party of 10-12 or the unbearable heat in the dining room. Despite our empathy towards her situation, the annoyance should have been ours for the following reasons: 1. No Working A/C: An upscale restaurant without functioning air conditioning on one of the hottest days of the month is unacceptable. 2. Poor Table Placement: Our table was set up in front of the hot kitchen despite the restaurant being nearly empty, with plenty of other seating options available. 3. Passive-Aggressive Service: Our server's attitude was consistently unprofessional and very unwelcoming. Service Issues: - Lack of Water: We were never served water despite multiple requests. - Slow Drink Service: Drinks took an exceptionally long time to arrive, even though the restaurant was not busy. - Insufficient Bread: Bread was requested several times and finally arrived with the food, defeating its purpose as an appetizer. - Missing Chicken: One guest ordered fettuccine alfredo with chicken but received it without chicken. When this was brought to the server's attention, she argued that the chicken was not requested, which was incorrect. Quality of Food: While the food was generally enjoyable, the overall experience was tainted by the poor service and uncomfortable environment. The kitchen did a great job with the food, except for the fettuccine alfredo mishap. Final Straw: When the bill came, we were eager to leave due to the heat and discomfort. Our server's demeanor remained sh*tty. She became visibly frustrated when asked if we could split the bill between two or three cards. In hindsight, looking at the bill more thoroughly would have revealed charges for the bread that we weren't informed about and an additional charge for a plain piece of chicken brought out after we finished eating (that was just thrown away). Recommendation: Prime Italian's management should address the A/C issues, ensure proper table placement, and train staff to maintain a professional and pleasant demeanor, even under challenging conditions. A gesture of goodwill, such as a discount or an apology for the lack of A/C, would have gone a long way in improving our experience. Takeaway: I cannot recommend Prime Italian based on this experience. The lack of air conditioning, poor service, and overall uncomfortable environment overshadowed the quality of the food. read more

This is one of my favorite places to eat and relax. So far, I haven't had any service issues. Staff has been friendly and attentive. I tend to go during the week, which may be less busy. There is a parking lot across the street and there is valet I believe. The cheese bread they bring at the beginning with marinara sauce is great. Can't get enough of it. For appetizers, my favorite so far is the Kobe meatball and fried Buffalo mozzarella. For entree, which is family style I tend to get one kf the steaks sliced, rigatoni a la vodka and chicken parm. The entrees themselves are not the best I've had but still enjoy it. For dessert, I LOVE the fried oreos. It comes with chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream. I've had fried oreos before but this place... I don't what it is but this place makes the best I've had so far. I know Miami Dade restaurants are hit or miss with service/experience, but this was a HIT! The bread was good, garlic bread with cheese, good, but not as folks on here have raved. They cleaned up the crumbs from the table, which I liked. We had the fried mozzerella, folks this ain't your grandma's cheese sticks, these things came out on a bed of tomatoes that were to die for! The garlic bread is divine (it's soaked in butter and garlic and melted cheese so just a warning if you are trying to watch your figure).
