I was a bartender, they had only two hand held devices, when si eine wanted to payout, it was a pain in the ass to find it. Over all, the place lacked leadership and structure. I was told I'd be the bar lead, but they didn't appreciate my many years in the Industry. I have worked for many corporate run bars/restaurants, this lacked a mission statement and vision to get there. It was a Nice concept, I don't know what led to its demise, I moved back to Las Vegas, where I continued bartrnding and now in the best Hospitality Management program in the country. First found this place on a Sunday night while heading to the area. I called and was told that the kitchen was closed but I should come in for a drink. The music over the phone made me highly consider it but since we were starving we didn't take them up on the offer and instead bookmarked them to come back. A couple of days later we ended up back during normal hours and the visit was pretty good overall. The owner was there walking around introducing himself to each table which was nice. We ordered - blackened shrimp devil eggs (app) - Salmon meal with Brussels and rice (no Pork which is AMAZING, they use Turkey in the dirty rice) - Blackened shrimp Alfredo - Fried shrimp and fries - Kids Mac and cheese Everything was very good, I enjoyed the brussels as well as my Alfredo and the devil eggs. My husband left nothing on the plate of the salmon and our boys enjoyed the Mac n cheese and shrimp. I also had a very good Dusse - Rita. We came around 12:30 on a Saturday and Mike and Aaja really took care of us. Mike was an excellent host as when we arrived their chef hadn't made it and he was very apologetic, so we left. We went next door as we were hungry and from out of town and he came back out to give us a nice update. Chef was in route, so we decided to stay. Nice ambiance with music and just a chill vibe. We sat at the bar and was able to order food and sips. We had the following: Deviled eggs 5/5 Catfish and Fries 5/5 Cajun Pasta 5/5 Jack and Sprite 5/5 In all, we're glad the chef came! Everything was seasoned to perfection. I am a cook and I know food and seasonings. Mike and Aaja's drinks were on point. We plan to return after the wedding reception. Came here for the hookah on Saturday night. The parking lot smelled heavily of trash and we were told to seat ourselves. We were eyeing the hookah menu on the table when we were promptly told they didn't have the hookah that day. Highly disappointing .No additional explanation was given and we didn't ask . This place is quaint and has good music both inside and out. The crowd is mostly older (40+) with a few younger ppl sprinkled in. We decided to still stay and give the drinks a try. They must be using below bottom shelf alcohol. The starburst shot we tried tasted like straight unconcentrated juice. We sent them back and were brought gummy bear shots which were less juicy but still not good. We also ordered the "house special" which was a pear margarita. It was drinkable. I am hooked. Glad I gave this place 3 chances (the first two times I went, I waited over 2 hours to get food and eventually just walked out). But it's now my go to spot for gumbo!!! There is nothing upscale, luxurious, or modern about this restaurant! I had a disappointing lunch today at Prime. My expectations were too high! I will return but not to eat maybe sit at the bar and have a drink. I wanted wings but they were out of wings at 12:00pm on a Wednesday afternoon. We ordered a fish plate and a shrimp plate. The fish plate had 2 small strips of catfish filets and seasoned fries that had a weird sweet batter. The tartar sauce was sweet tasting and not good. The shrimp was fried in the same fish batter. I have never seen fish and shrimp fried in the same batter! I don't fry shrimp that way and neither does my Louisiana family! I needed ketchup for the "sweet" fries and the waitress gave me packets. I was not expecting ketchup packets at an "upscale" restaurant. The decor was comprised of fake gas station type flowers on each table. My food was overpriced and not satisfying. The one item that was surprisingly good - Deviled eggs! The waitress gave us the mixer straws for our water. It was weird, not sure if they didn't have regular straws.... Overall, this place was not good but I attribute that to my expectations. I was expecting nicer; however, it's worth a try, go see for yourself, form you're own opinion. I went to college in the FL Panhandle and am used to eating Creole food. I haven't found a place so authentic with its food, BUT more importantly, it's hospitality. This small family run business is a home away from home for me and a Godsend. Not only did I come here after eating, but my stomach automatically went Super Saiyan when I smelled the food. It's power level was over 9,000 as I consumed one of the best Gumbeaux I've had in over 15 years bringing me back to the good old days. I've eaten at Guy Fieri's recommended locations in multiple states and this one needs to receive his stamp of approval. I was immediately transported to New Orleans for what felt like a decade before awakening from my food coma. Jess was our server and she was the best. The owner & operator, James, was very gracious and personable. I will be revisiting this establishment and pray every Forney resident and passers by do the same! read more

We asked the reason for the delay and were told the chef had to leave the restaurant for awhile! The place wasn't very clean. The floors needed to be cleaned as did the booths and table tops. I am a Forney resident and I was excited to see a new restaurant in the area, in addition to a new cigar bar. I came with a my friend & girlfriend and we were seated promptly, the staff was awesome and helpful. We sat outside, since we wanted to smoke some cigars as we waited. Our server, Jess, was amazing! You gotta sit with her. We ended up getting some Gumbeaux (correct spelling) and spicy chicken Alfredo. HOLY SHIT, the food is authentic Creole food. I've been to Louisiana many times and this is some of the best I've ever had. I literally considered going to the bathroom to throw up, just so I could order another round of food to make room for more. So damn good! On top of all this, the owner James came out and chatted with us. Very casual and actually really nice. Loved it! He even gave us a cigar. It was a very nice touch of caring customer service from the top of the restaurant. Small touches like this are noticed by people that care. If you're near Forney or in the area. Going outside to smoke a cigar can be an adventure because it was cold and not all the fire pits were being used. Overhead heat lamps would be nice. If I could rate lower than a single star, I would. I wanted to love this place and I always try and support small business. 1.) Prime XO is a fairly brand new restaurant. They could've done whatever they wanted to, but they made the choice not to include a drink menu on their menu. Probably too cheap to print out another menu, and you'll understand why I say that here in a bit. The young lady who waited our table said there was no drink menu. My wife looked at their website online and found a drink menu to order from. Why couldn't the waiter have done that or directed us to it? 2.) You're not allowed to switch out your sides...not unless you're ok with a $4 up-charge. The waiter explained that the "meals are set", so if you don't want fries or mixed vegetables, too bad! Deal with it, or fork over $4, which is half the cost of a whole side to begin with. 3.) I asked for ketchup for the hush puppies we ordered. Instead of the waitress bringing out a bottle, you know, in case any one of the other three party members wanted some as well, she brings out a small side of ketchup in a plastic to-go container; what you would expect to get from a fried chicken restaurant chain's drive thru window in South Dallas. Cheap. Ghetto. 4.) Limited menu items. I love catfish and shrimp and often eat them together. There menu doesn't include a combo option. So if you want catfish and shrimp, you'll have to buy an additional basket. Also, their default gumbo is only chicken and sausage. If you want to add seafood, guess what? $6-8 dollars more. Why is there no seafood gumbo option? What if I don't eat pork? 5.) I ended up ordering the Cajun chicken pasta. When the order finally came out after 30 minutes, I found my chicken to be completely raw. It was the consistency of a medium rare steak and a vibrant pink inside. The waitress was smart enough to snatch away my plate before I had the opportunity to take a picture. I was too disgusted, and wasn't thinking fast enough to have been quicker. Never have I ever received undercooked chicken at what was supposed to be an upscale restaurant. They didn't even offer to comp my meal after also making me sick with undercooked food. In summary, PLEASE don't waste your time at this place. Upscale prices coupled with bottom tier service, greedy company values, and low customer prioritization makes me wish I hadn't of even bothered OR drug my friends along with me. read more

A great new place. Took my mom to an early dinner. The owner and staff were very nice and obviously proud of the place. And it turned out they have cause to be proud. The service was friendly, attentive, and are fans of the food. The Alfredo sauce is a perfect Cajun sauce, creamy and spicy with the perfect amount of heat. The seafood tower's crab cakes are crabby and tender on the inside and a bit crunchy on the outside and delicious. They have a full bar and the talent to make any cocktail you want. Visited Prime XO with my husband and our friends yesterday for brunch. The place opened up at noon and we arrived shortly after opening and were greeted and seated immediately. My friends have a sweet little 8 month baby girl and when we were being seated the host advised he didn't have any high chairs. Which was unexpected but was understood. About 25-30 mins after we ordered and waiting for our food the host, which I think was the owner brought in a high chair!! I don't know where he got it but it was really kind for him to be so accommodating and welcoming to us!! The waiter was sweet and showed us how to access the menus online. The whole party ordered chicken and waffles. We were a little disappointed that there weren't more options for brunch but then chicken and waffles made up for it!! The chicken was crispy and juicy and paired well with the sweetness of the waffles. My husbands only complaint was that the chicken and waffles wasn't filling enough but he just greedy . We will definitely be back to check out the dinner menu. The band and DJ was setting up but it seemed like a very easy going atmosphere and plan to come back to see how the evening time looks!!
