Staff is more interested in hooking up with young girls than serving! I gave my drink order to 3 different servers but no service!

Super cool place to go and hang out in the cigar bar. I do wish they had more vegetarian or vegan options without chicken broth.

Javier's continues to be the be the best true Mexican restaurant in DFW for the last 49 years!

Mexican in Dallas? Sure. JAVIER'S? Fire. So so so good, great vibes and great service. I ordered a chicken dish and you'd think "oh a chicken breast boo".. best chicken I've ever had. Nothing was a miss, drinks are strong, and wait staff is lovely

This place is good but overhyped. Their complimentary chips are served with red salsa, green salsa, and butter -- a pleasant combination. My table shared the Ceviche (marinated white fish and shrimp in lemon juice, seasoned Acapulco style), and I loved how tender it was. For my entree, I ordered the Pollo Ahumado (one-half mesquite smoked chicken, served Mexican style with guacamole, rice, black beans and special hot sauce). The chicken didn't have much flavor or smokiness. Also, it was chewy. I would NOT recommend this item. My friends order the fajitas though, and they enjoyed it. There's construction around the area, but valet parking is easy and available. The restaurant itself is dim and very busy even on a weeknight, so prepare to make reservations in advance.

Finally used the gift certificate my boss gave me for Christmas. What a wonderful recommendation! We ordered three entrées knowing we would take one home and two appetizers to get the most banged for our buck. It was great! The people were great. The food was great: we could not stop talking about this place for days.

RESTAURANT: Had to put in a reservation for this place a month prior and had high hopes, but I was left feeling underwhelmed. They served a red and green salsa with fresh chips when we sat that tasted great, so I was excited to order drinks and food from there, but that was about it on the good side for me. My old fashioned was served with a straw and tasted like watered down whiskey. They had good margaritas and espresso martinis, but the meal I ordered -- filete cantinflas -- was very disappointing. Piece of meat served on a bed of cheese, was far from what I envisioned. The quality of the food was about on par with getting "gourmet" Mexican food from On the Border. Place looked nice inside with elegant decorations on the walls, but you can guarantee I won't be back. They also do not split checks, so forewarned if you come with a party. -- CIGAR LOUNGE: I also additionally went to the cigar lounge and the man there was a bit hostile. He asserts his 40 years of experience, but doesn't provide much support. Thankfully had many of my favorites though, so I was able to help myself and my party.

We walked here on a chilly day and were immediately able to be seated on their enclosed patio. It was a nice temperature and wasn't that cold which was nice! Our food was very tasty and our chips were served hot which I love! Our filete was very tasty as well! Our waiter seemed like he didn't really like us and wouldn't look at or talk to me which seemed strange, hence the four not five stars. The key lime pie was delicious as well and would recommend. Overall I'd recommend and would come back for special occasion as it is a little pricier than a typical Mexican restaurant.

Came here for a company dinner party. There were 14 of us total. We all were relatively on time for the 6pm reservation, so I'm not sure why it took the waiter over an hour to even take our orders (definitely made sure I ordered my martini as well with my food) but once we ordered everything came out pretty fast. When it comes to the food, I've had better bites. I thoroughly enjoy Mexican food and based on the wonderful description was excited to try their fajitas de cabrito (goat meat), but not only was it dry it lacked so much flavor. I mean not one thing I ate had salt, pepper, cumin, chile, paprika, adobo or anything on it. I'm not joking - not the meat, rice, beans...not even the pico de gallo or guacamole lol. My fiancé ordered their garlic shrimp guaymas & even that was just eh - heavily acidic with their use of lime or lemon which could've used a savory balance. Being that this restaurant is located in the more affluent part of Dallas I was expecting the standard for food to be up to par, but $$$ can't buy everything. What I will say though is the waitstaff were very sweet. Our water glasses were never less than half full & their alcoholic beverages are strong. I also enjoyed the overall design inside. It's like a never ending story of different dining rooms inside w/interesting decor sprinkled throughout, an enclosed heated patio w/additional seating for those who like to eat outdoors, & they even had a cigar lounge towards the very back. If you ask me if I think this place is worth it, I'd say come for their drinks, ambiance and cigar lounge. It's just hard to recommend eating here knowing you'd spend at minimum $30/per plate when the food is bland.

Back again! Always great food and a wonderful atmosphere. Always liked the large unique layout with multiple rooms. Green sauce with their chips is great. Had the mixed fajitas this time which were perfect size for one person. Definitely explore the menu. Cigar bar is one of the best.

Javier's lived up to it's reputation. We sat at the bar. The bartender, Wellington, was very nice. He gave us drink and food recommendations. He was very personable. It felt open and welcoming. There were lots of people getting each other which let me know it's a local favorite. The food and drinks were delicious. We dressed casually and felt right at home.

Ask the Community - Javier's Gourmet Mexicano

Is an hour enough time for the dinner?

I'd say an hour and a half, if you have more than 2 people.

Is this the same Javier's as in California/Las Vegas?

It is not the same. The one in California is great, too, but different.

How do I make reservations? The phones are not being answered!

Call is the only way. During their open hours is the best time to call (at non-peak times). But they may not have after-hours availability

Do they have HOT salsa available?

Yes we have 2 that are very hot, an habanero sauce and a ranchero sauce with roasted Serrano peppers

I decided to give Sixty Vines a try while I was in Dallas for the weekend, and I'm so glad I did!…read moreWe stopped in on a Friday afternoon and were seated right away. The restaurant wasn't overly crowded, which made it a great time to enjoy the space without feeling rushed or overwhelmed. Our server was wonderful and definitely added to the experience. She was especially helpful when we were choosing the cheeses for our charcuterie board, offering suggestions and helping us put together a combination that worked really well. Of course, the main reason we stopped in was the Frozen Espresso Martini, which had been highly recommended to us--and whoever made that recommendation deserves some credit because it did not disappoint! It was exactly the kind of indulgent afternoon drink I was hoping for. We were also told that we should try the Frosé, so that's officially on my list for the next visit. Hopefully, I'll get the chance to try it when I'm back in town. I really enjoyed the design of the restaurant as well. The dining areas and bar have a very open, comfortable feel without being overly loud or chaotic. It struck a nice balance between being lively and still allowing you to actually enjoy your conversation. We only came in for charcuterie and drinks, so I didn't get the chance to experience the full food menu, but I was still genuinely impressed with the overall experience. If I'm back in Dallas, I'd definitely return--and next time, I'd love to sit down for an actual meal and explore more of the menu. Overall, Sixty Vines was a great afternoon stop: friendly service, a beautiful and comfortable space, and a Frozen Espresso Martini worth making a trip for. I'd happily visit this location again or check out another Sixty Vines in a future city. The Frozen Espresso Martini was definitely the right recommendation.

I visited Waters Edge with my family this past weekend before we went to a movie at the Drafthouse…read more(just across the parking lot), and we had a good time! Waters Edge is a winery and a bistro - so you can come for drinks or a meal or both. We were told that they make all of the wines on their menu, of which there are dozens of wines on their menu. I've been to a few urban wineries before, and it's an interesting concept. Waters Edge buys grape must (crushed grapes) from around the world and then craft and bottle wines made from that must at their locations (this Dallas location is one of 15 across the country). Wanting to try a few of their wines, the four of us shared two flights of five wines each. We tried the Tour of Armenia and Alec's Flight (a rotating selection of wines by their winemaker). Did I like every wine? No. But I thought most of them were pretty good. Personally, I'm not sure they need to make this many wines; I'll always prefer a business that does ten things well than fifty things fine (the Cheesecake Factory rule). But most of the wines were pretty nice (of the 10 I tried, I wouldn't drink 3 or 4 but wouldn't mind drinking the rest again). I appreciated that many of their wines are Armenian style, because I haven't had much opportunity to try Armenian wines. We also ordered a few snacks - they have a full food menu. We shared their Deviled Egg of the Month (2 eggs - 4 halves) and their Cheese is Life Board (two cheeses, hot honey, giardiniera, and crispy flatbread), which were both good snacks. They've been open just under a year, but the place doesn't feel quite lived in yet. The dining room has a large room divider in it, set up like a bookshelf. It has books and card/trivia games about wine and more. But many of these items were still wrapped in plastic, making it feel a little impersonal. The service was good, and it's a comfortable place to spend a couple of hours! The food we had was pretty good. The wines in my opinion are just okay - probably not the spot to take a wine snob on a date. But they have a large variety of wines, so you're likely to find one or many that you like. Not a bad place to spend some time if you're in the neighborhood!
