DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM PRIMERA AUTO!!!! I bought a used Subaru 3 years ago with 150,xxx miles. I was told the head gaskets, and timing belt/timing accessories were just replaced. A week ago today the head gasket blew again...I'm a mechanic so I pulled the vehicle apart and found the heads had not been machined and were instead wire brushed (huge no-no). I also found the rear spark plugs (while annoying to replace) looked like they haven't been touched since the car rolled off the line. The electrode was completely gone despite the front plugs being in decent condition. I suspect they replaced the fronts because they are much easier and called it good. Overall poor work done on the vehicle and had I known that "head gaskets just replaced" meant we did nothing but replace the gaskets, I wouldn't have bought the car. Save your future self a headache (and maybe a new car) and don't buy from Primera. read more

I would like to give 0 stars, but can't. Save yourself the trouble ... a very UNprofessional bunch. The inner works of the place are as bad as the outer appearance. We recently gave it a try anyway - and unfortunately our low expectations were confirmed. We had two cars pre-selected, as candidates. One a Subaru Outback with a branded title (odometer issues), the other a Ford Focus. We took the '09 Subaru to a mechanic around the corner for a brief eval, and it turned out it needed a new steering rack and control arms as both were shot. We sat down, agreed on an adjusted price - and within minutes took the second candidate (a Ford) to the same mechanic. Within a handful of hours we returned the '13 Ford. It needed tires & a battery. Based on the two cars we had checked out (and paid for), we decided to risk buying the Subaru. Well - you think! Because while we had the Ford checked out, they sold the Subaru (I suspect without telling the buyer about the steering rack and control arms that were shot)... Despite us having an agreed-upon price and despite us being crystal clear on these two cars being our options, they sold one while we had the other checked out. And not so much as a phone call to let us know that here was someone else interested. Who does something like that?? Ugh, just a waste of time. If you have any experience with shady, pushy, unethical car salesmen, then you'll understand that George and Eric are the complete opposite. While looking for a car, I met many of the first type and only a few like George and Eric. The first thing you notice about the lot is the size and age. They are a small business and probably work on a small margin. The majority of their cars probably come from auction which is norm. All of the issues I noticed with the car I bought were discussed with George and Eric. After negotiating, I feel that I got a good deal which included having the timing belt done by them at cost in the future. Remember there is no guarantee unless you have it in writing and a car fax only tells a small chapter of the cars story. I've had big dealerships sell me bad cars, and talked out their rear with their promises, and then would not return my call the next day. Right after buying my car from Eric, me being me, noticed a large pool of fluid under my car when I arrived home. I immediately called George. It was a hot day and George told me to check the fluid to see if it was water from the AC running. He waited while I did this and it was water . He did not have to take my call or talk to me. This shows good integrity to me. If you are shopping for a used car you will not find a high pressure salesman here. Only a family man trying to run his business. Happy shopping everyone! read more

Eric and George were great, very honest and straightforward with the sale. I went in looking for a specific vehicle, and somebody was already looking at it, so I looked around at what else they had on the lot. The previous guy tried lowballing them....A LOT. More than what would be fair. I saw some issues I'd need to fix, so I asked for a slightly lower price (didn't insult him like the other person did), and I feel like George negotiated fairly. Took it for emissions this morning, and after a very minimal repair (just a battery clamp, I call it an upgrade...haha), it passed with FLYING COLORS. Refreshing for a 17 year old vehicle. These guys sold us a car that they knew was in bad shape. They told us they put "so much work into it" and it was going to be a great first car for our son. We paid $7,000 and the check engine light came on 2 weeks after we bought it. Five months later, we had to piece it out for parts or pay $6,500 for all of the engine repairs it needed. As you can guess, we lost thousands of dollars because we couldn't even use it as a trade in. They knew exactly what they were selling us and the Colorado laws don't protect us from scumbags like these dealers. Don't buy from this place unless you like throwing your money away. read more

Bought a car here recently, nothing but problems and empty promises. Buyer beware! The vehicle has bad CATS which the GM stated he would cover the parts for me and I would just be responsible for the labor. He was sure the CATS were good and it must just be a cheap O2 sensor repair. Well when I showed them the data confirming the CATs needed to be replaced he changed his tune. You cover the parts and I'll cover the labor ($2500 in parts and $100 in labor). Then there are the other $4500 in repairs needed. read more

I've been really hesitant to write a review because I'm afraid once I start feeling awesome about my car, it's going to fall apart as I drive down I-35. However, after driving from Denver to San Antonio in a day then driving between San Antonio and Austin multiple times over the week I've had the car, I have to admit I really love my car and am very pleased with my experience at Primera. I went to check out a Subaru a few weeks ago. My car buying experience has been nothing but a pile of poo covered lemons so I was really unexcited about purchasing a car. George greeted me in the lot and told me to let him know if I had any questions. You mean you're not going to follow me around, pushing every car to me? I saw a car I liked, test drove it, then spoke with George about what the car needs and what the next steps would be if I were interested in purchasing it. He was a very personable guy and didn't make me feel like an idiot when he talked to me about replacing the head gaskets. Instead, he actually took the time to show me the parts they used so I could touch base with my mechanic. I had a few other dealerships I wanted to check out so I left with all the car's information. A few days later and many unsatisfying visits to other car lots, I decide to take the plunge and buy the car I'd seen at Primera. I worked mostly with Eric and he was also friendly, informative, and very helpful. I put a deposit down on the car and their mechanics (who were also friendly) did a fantastic job with replacing the head gaskets and some other worn parts within 2 business days. The day I picked up the car, Eric took the time to take it to emissions testing to ensure it passed before I look it on a long road trip, which it did with flying colors. He also showed me what to look for when checking the oil. One week in and about 1500 miles later, I'm loving this car. I recently purchased a second vehicle with 4WD/AWD from these guys and I'm greatly pleased with my purchase. Shout out to Eric, George, and all the staff at Primera Auto. They had a great selection of used vehicles that are perfect for the Colorado weather and terrain. When I was looking for a used second vehicle, I was realistic; I realistically wanted something older with high mileage so I could save on insurance and not too expensive, and I was more than able to meet these goals at Primera Auto. The vehicle I chose did not pass CO emission testing initially, but was guaranteed by them and they fixed the issue that caused the fail (at no cost to me, I might add); the second time though, my vehicle passed with flying colors. Horrible, disturbing, disconcerting dealership! Sold my husband and I a car with only one working headlight AND it didn't pass emissions testing! We brought it back the very next day despite being told their "mechanic" fixed everything when we bought it. Andrew even showed us a sheet detailing "the work" the mechanic completed. Andrew, the salesman, also told us that this dealership does NOT report the work they do on the cars to CarFax because of "cost." The first time it failed emissions, we were told the dealership would change the spark plugs. After failing emissions a second time, we were told it needed a catalytic converter and the car would be ready by Thursday 11/11/2021. On 11/11, we were told the car wasn't ready because the part it needed hadn't arrived. After a week of chasing them (calling them daily for updates) and practically begging to get our money back, we were FINALLY refunded and ONLY because we mentioned we were aware of the Colorado law on emission testing; Instead of the owner, George, being understanding and accommodating us for his company's mistake (by giving us a small portion of the money we paid back $2k), HE TOLD US HE COULD NOT GIVE US ANY MONEY BACK BECAUSE HE WOULD LOSE PROFIT! WOW! Not to mention, the owner, George, made sarcastic comments the entire refund transaction. We have a lawyer on standby for this check. Shady people selling shady cars. Honestly, I don't usually write reviews but this car buying experience is as good as it gets. The opposite of pushy, Eric was the most laid back , friendly and nice sales person I ever dealt with. Primera wants to make sure you are getting a vehicle that fits your needs. The process is a bit different than any other car buying experience. You go to the lot, drive the cars, pick the one that fits your needs, put a small deposit down and they fix everything that is wrong, including things like replacing a timing belt or gaskets that notoriously break with Subaru's. My son and I were looking for a replacement car that unfortunately was totaled and we dreaded the dealers and experience. We had two terrible encounters and then I came across Primera. I wish I knew about them before I replaced my own Outback 1 month ago; Even though I love my new Forester from Groove, I can not say the same about the experience. Primera, Honest, open and friendly. I recommend them to anyone and I will be back!!!! They make me want to buy another car. read more

Got a 2002 Subaru Forester had it less than two years and the guys at quality care said it has a cracked head gasket and a whole laundry list of problems adding up to 5,000 bucks keep it alive. I still owed 3,000 bucks on it. I traded it in to planet Honda and I will never go anywhere but a real dealership again. It didn't even have 150k. I guess buyer beware. Damn.... read more

I bought a car from this place about 4 months ago. When I purchased the vehicle it just needed a new battery so we thought. Unfortunately there was a bunch of issues causing the battery to drain and the car would leave me stranded. This has place has now gone above and beyond to make sure I'm a satisfied customer. This place took the car to 4 different mechanics to diagnose the problem and put in $4,000 worth of parts to get the vehicle fixed for me. As much of a hassle Volkswagens are and how stressful the situation has been I have nothing but amazing things to say about this place. George is a stand up guy and I without a doubt will be going back to purchase another vehicle from him for my girlfriend (just not a Volkswagen) lol. I guarantee you will not find a car sales lot that will treat you as good as they did me. read more

They acted like they were business men, very professional, and then they sold me a car, which I paid cash right away completely for over 5000 dollars, and the car was broken, not only was the engine broke and needs repaired, but there are so many other problems with the vehicle and on top of that, one of the wheels almost fell off when I was driving on the highway and they do not care at all. They said there is nothing they can do about it. I bought it, as is, I am a single mother of 2 already on my way to the poverty line because of how hard it is in this economy I will be taking this and making sure their dealership license gets revoked for false advertisement and selling cars that endanger everyone including myself and my children. read more

So, my boyfriend purchased a Subaru Forester from them in November of 2016. Eric was very friendly and very willing to help out. George was friendly-ish, but a little more reserved. A couple weeks after owning the car while he was driving it down the highway his sun roof flew off. They told him to bring it in and they would get him a shop discount to fix it. Thankfully, we found that it was under a recall so we didn't have to pay anything to have it replaced at a separate shop. Then 2 months later (now 3 months from purchasing) his turbo and transmission go out. He calls Primera again and George tells us to drive it down there (we live 30 miles away) and again he'll give us a shop discount to have it fixed. But, obviously, we can't drive it that far on a blown transmission so we find a shop closer to us and have it repaired for $2,500. Now, we understand cars are well cars and a lot of things you can't foresee happen and we, at that point, didn't blame Primera for our unfortunate car troubles. Fast forward to March 2017... It was now time for me to find a new vehicle as my gas guzzler was running on its last leg. Us being Subaru lovers decided to give Primera another shot. I originally had seen a Baja on their site and went down to look at it but I felt it was over priced for how old and the condition it was in so we kept looking and then we found the '06 Subaru Legacy listed at $4,995 and I fell in love. We test drove it and noticed a clunking sound in the front end but everything else seemed nice. When we brought it up to Eric and he told use they knew it was the front struts and that they would replace them along with the timing belt since it was "about due anyways". We told them we had $5,000 to spend and expressed our concerns because of our last purchase with them and we would take it if we could get out the door with it for exactly that. Eric had to call George and ask him, which he stepped outside to talk to him, then came in and said that George wasn't happy about it but would honor that IF we wrote two reviews for them. We agreed since I felt at that point they were being understanding. The car stayed there for the rest of the day to do the repairs and I went to pick it up the next day. When I arrived there the next day George was opening and while I finished up the paperwork he continued to make snide remarks like how "cheap we were getting away with this car" and how "we better write a damn good review" and "because of repairs they're not going to be making any money off of it". I didn't respond to any of them and just got the car and went on my way. Now of course when you get a new car you want to go drive it around so my boyfriend and I went up to Boulder and had lunch and then when we got home a couple friends came over and when they went out to look at the car they realized that the back passenger door didn't open. I called Primera immediately and told them that and they said I could bring it in the next morning and they would look at it. So, 9am the following day I dropped it off with Eric and the shop looked at it and told me that the outside handle was broken and that the child lock was on so that's why we couldn't open it from the inside either. Eric then called George to tell him and George said that he would not cover it that "he's done enough for us and he's already not going to make a profit so he's not willing to put any more money into the car". So I just said ok and left. Thankfully I'm sure my boyfriend, being a contractor in all, is mechanically inclined enough to figure out how to fix it on our own. We have not had any other problems with the car, yet... and overall this business isn't awful just be weary and have someone who is knowledgeable about cars with you when you go. Try to work with Eric when you go there if you can and just know that they are only willing to help you out till you get into the car but once you drive it off the lot, not so much... read more

This is hands-down my #1 recommended auto mechanic shop in the Denver metro area! I went to Firestone a few weeks ago and was told I needed to replace both my CV axel shafts which was going to cost me $720 (something a young college student could not afford). So, I decided to get a 2nd opinion before moving forward. I went on NextDoor and asked local neighbors for help and I was recommended to Dylan Rodriguez, the master mechanic at Primera Auto. I called him and explained my situation and he was one of the most empathetic, honest, and genuine mechanics I have spoken with. He told me that he would first inspect my car free of charge to see if it's even an issue because often times these shops will up-sell unnecessary products and services. Next, he said if I needed the work that he would charge half of Firestone's quote to get it done. Lastly, he was very accommodating of my schedule and we worked together to get my car to his shop. When all was said and done, it turned out I did not even need the CV axels and so he just said to bring my car back when I start having issues. By far, the most honest, understanding, and thorough mechanic I have met in this area. I will definitely be bringing my car back to him every single time and referring friends and family to his shop. Do NOT buy your car from here! At first, I wanted to give these guys a five star review. They were very friendly when we came to look at cars and really made you feel almost like you were a part of the family. I ended up getting a 2006 Subaru Legacy with 100,000 miles on it. I needed to replace my old car, which was on its last legs, and I was excited to have something I wouldn't have to be constantly working on anymore. I specifically chose to go through a dealer, because they would fix any issues with the car before selling it. The next day after bringing it home, the seatbelt light goes on. Which, as it turns out, turned off all airbags. I called up Primera, and they offered to fix it for $130. Because you can not always forsee such problems, I paid the bill and went on my way. Two weeks later, the check engine light comes on. I bring it in to find out there was no engine oil in the vehicle. I brought this up to Eric at Primera but decided they must have forgotten to put oil in the car, and I had not been driving enough for the check engine light to come on until now. Fast forward a month, the check engine light comes on and my car is out of oil AGAIN! At this point, I decide to have a mechanic check out the problem, for which Primera wanted to send me to a place and be charged $80. I found another place for less than half that. Turns out my car is an oil burner and going through 5 QUARTS of oil every 1000 miles!!!!!!! The only fix to this is a new engine or a new short block, costing me somewhere between $4000 and $7000, more than what I bought the car for. I told Eric the problem, for which he tries to convince me using a thicker oil will stop the problem. However, after consulting with other mechanics, this is just putting a "bandaid" on the problem. I called Eric again to see if he could help out with the car. He would not give me a discount on repairs nor offer to allow me to switch cars with another on their lot, claiming they were unaware the car was clearly burning oil very quickly and smoking out of the exhaust. Again, DO NOT buy your car here. They will not try to help you regardless of your situation. They just wanna make their money and send you on your way. I got a great price, buying was easy without pressure and it was a used car that has been 100% reliable for me. Eric is really laid back and not pushy at all. I was extremely excited to test drive and most likely buy a vehicle they had for sale. The only problem was that they had to do some work on it first. They needed to change the head gaskets(which I've recently found out to be an extremely rare problem for turbos... thank god I didn't buy the car). They told us that they were focusing on the cars they had already sold first(which makes sense so we were fine with that), and we asked if they could give us a call when it was ready. They said that they "may not be able to because they may be too busy. It may be done later today though." So we called them. They said it should take no more than one to two days. We called at least twice a day to see if it was ready and FINALLY it was done four days later(which isn't actually that long, but after calling every day and being told it would be done the next, it got old). We were still extremely interested in the car and when we were about to leave to go test drive it, we decided to call them once more to make sure they didn't need another day. When we called, they told us they had sold the car to some people who, "waited all day." even though we waited all week. They didn't remember us and they didn't even give us a chance with the car. We had other deals with slip right out from underneath us because we were waiting to test drive this car. read more

DO NOT BUY FROM THESE GUYS! I lost thousands of dollars to this dealership, they went ahead and sold me a lemon for $4,000. The vehicle lasted me 2500 miles, then the whole engine seized up. Making the car inoperable and that I need a whole new engine installed. Not a cheap fix. They proceeded to tell me it's not their fault and offered me $500 back for the vehicle. CHEAP, they slapped me straight in the face. Not to mention when I first bought the vehicle from these guys failed to mention It needed a new CV axel before I paid for the car. Another $400 I spent on the car before my engine blew. It's been months now and still I'm dealing with the situation. These guys told me the car would last 3 years, I drove it for 3 months. I didn't even get a $1 for a mile. Anyone who reads this, my advice is to stay away from this dealership. read more

Their cars SUCK, I was desperate for a car and they promised a good deal on financing.I put 200 dollars down to hold the car and was promised that I would get a good deal on financing after they reviewed my credit. 19.5 percent interest for someone that has held a good job for 30 years? WTF? Oh and their cars suck too, the car I tried to buy 2 months ago is still listed for sale, it really was a piece of crap.It was in horrible shape, had no windshield wipers, a cracked windshield, no heat (which they promised to fix), was super dirty, and had about a million cigarette burns on the inside. Do not EVER give them money to hold a car, they will keep it. They truly did not know what they were doing all along the way, I think they were all high on pot, it was truly ridiculous, no one knew how to do anything. I am so glad i backed out of the deal.
