Sat at the bar outside, nice bar but if on waterfront prefer to have view of water.....perhaps the ploy to have quicker turnover at the bar seating.....not good. Drinks were okay and inconsistent, place was in no way busy compared to amount of tables available inside and out, after food ordered place settings should have been given to us, we had to request bread and appetizers came out with a delay and still had to wait for settings.......after a good 45 minutes and customers who ordered after us ate and left with of course issues with their orders we inquired about our food....and amazingly it was next in a long line of orders......food was good we had 2 pasta dishes which were more of an appetizer portion gnocchi with 3 chunks of sausage meat.....you saw the bottom of small serving bowl for $32. Needless to say this is a major work in progress.......again bar placement for waterfront dining was bad. I dined here in February of 2022. Certain things were great while others weren't so great but the experience was good enough to give it another try. I made a reservation in April for Mother's Day. I was asked for a credit card and warned if I did not show to my reservation I will charged $25 per person. When I arrived I was told I didn't have a reservation. While the hostess had no fault in the situation, Managment did nothing to accommodate the mistake made by their staff. She sent her hostess to inform me an outdoor table will be given to me in 50 degree weather with my 1 year old daughter. I was very disappointed the way my family and I was treated on Mother's Day. I even showed the hostess my call log as when I called the restaurant. For prices of their caliber you would think management themselves would have approached us. read more

What a fabulous experience. The restaurant has taken on a second life! This place is gorgeous and beautifully situated on the waterfront. You're greeted by kind and accommodating hostesses and excellent ambiance. The colors alone are inviting. The cocktail menu is inspired and offers something for everyone. My companion and I feasted on a number of appetizers. All more decadent than the last. The apple and beet salad was delightful. This place is worth checking out and won't be forgotten any time soon. Well went back to Primo, wasn't my choice, and it had not improved over my restaurant week experience. Service was slow to nonexistent and food was mediocre at best. A wait person brought over a small before dinner gift from the chef but one of us must have been invisible or she was lazy because there were only two and there were three of us. I guess I'll never know if it was good. The ricotta bread topping was delicious even if on rock hard bread. We had the chicken bite appetizer with ricotta which was delicious. Then we had the cowboy steak for two and the bucatini with clams. The bucatini dish was o.k. But definitely needed seasonings desperately. The steak was cooked properly and had a nice sauce but the steak itself was full of fat and gristle. The steak fries were crispy, over salted and smothered in a heavy sauce. To say service was spotty gives them too much credit. Next to nonexistent is better. Next time I'll pick where to go, especially for those prices. read more

Several people came after my family and was served before us needless to say our server gave me water without the lemon I requested it took 3 trips to get lemon from another server then my very rude server gave me a straw with bare hands never asked how was my table after waiting for food for a long time she told us it's been 25 minutes since we ate appetizer and at closing time manager and server came out with servers obviously something was wrong. Because we were mostly Spanish speaking never asked if anyone spoke English. It was a Friday night and we are one of four tables in the whole place. Staff was mulling around the service areas. The food was delicious but it wasn't an easy menu to chose from. The service was excellent. But when I left, I wondered what was wrong there? It was a week before Christmas and the festive atmosphere was minimal to say the least. The place seemed cold and un-inviting. I'd give the service 4 stars, but the ambiance 2 stars. Yes it's on the waterfront but in the dead of winter, that doesn't matter. Warm up the place, put some comfort food on the menu. For me personally I think it was too expensive. I can't imagine going back unless we hit the lottery. Ben was our host for Brunch; it was my umpteenth visit, but my daughter's first. I ordered a meal though flavorful, had biscuits that were metallic and bitter. It was a surprise and I had my daughter taste a biscuit, mostly because I was so surprised the flavor was so off, she agreed....Ben asked me about the meal, and I told him my experience, even though I am very reluctant to waste food and return to the kitchen. In the end I enjoyed the flavorful gravy, perfect sausage and poached eggs, and left the biscuits. Ben was kind enough to comp me my entire cost of meal, $25.00. Our waiter also enquired about our meal experience and was genuinely concerned and offered to return my meal and replace, but I declined. I very much enjoy coming to PRIMO's and consider this meal, just an off day. My daughter, BTW enjoyed her latte and brunch item. The location is great on the waterfront. When the weather permits the outdoor seating will be perhaps the best along the river. Without mentioning specific dishes, the overall disposition of just about every dish is that they are completely over salted to the point of inedibility. We were four on Christmas Eve with apps and entrees. Did not try any "crudo" to be fair. But what we did order was for the most part terrible. Our server was excellent and the atmosphere pleasant. Drinks good and the wine list well thought out. Would love to be a regular. I hope they work out they're kitchen issues. read more

Carefully chose this restaurant for day one of my vacation. Upon first blush, the place was gorgeous! I ordered the grilled octopus, which is always a favorite of mine. It arrived looking pretty enough, but one bite and I needed to call fire and rescue. I was told that it had chili sauce on it. My gastroenterologist would have been proud! I send it back for a more "fresh from the sea"version. I can't be sure, but the meat was unlike any other I had. I was wondering was it frozen? My main course was gnocchi with sausage. Four hunks of sausage and the gnocchi was smothered in sauce. Too much sauce! I ordered a craft beer which I thoroughly enjoyed, and noticed that there were bits of "something floating in the IPA and settling at the bottom of the glass. I ordered another, which did not have that consistency. I'm still trying to figure out what it was. To sum up, this restaurant was a costly disappointment. Extremely disappointing meal. My husband took me here for my birthday dinner (finally we love to try new restaurants and frequent multiple restaurants in the Hudson Valley.) The service and food was subpar. We attended on a Wednesday night (not busy, visibly.) I did not receive my second drink until well after dinner (approx 30 mins) the server came over and said " sorry about the aperol spritz, the bartender is backed up, I can take it off" i declined a refund and stated that I would still like my drink. Looking over my husband and I saw the bartender dancing a and "playing around" - we counted a total of 36 people outside -noone inside and 3 people at the outdoor bar. As a veteran of the service industry I would think if a bartender was swamped the outdoor bartender would assist in making service drinks. My husband took me there for my birthday and I felt awful when at then end of the meal he looked at me apologetically and said " I'm sorry". My husband and I frequent restaurants locally especially the waterfront as it is in close proximity to us- we won't be back. read more

This place is pretty but has that minimalistic style, very modern. There were 6 of us and most of us were not thrilled with the food. The pasta was small portions and over $30! The salmon was a good size portion and that guest really liked it. One of the men ordered the swordfish spedieni, very dry. The other 3 men were disappointed that there's only one steak on the menu over $50. The special was a 32 oz. tomahawk steak "for 2" for $139.00, so 16oz. of meat each? And stay away from the Beet and Goat cheese salad, at least a half pound of canned beets saturated into 3 leaves of radicchio/arugula and pure orange dressing, not a good combo! As I picked through it, I found a large stem of the radicchio in the center, quite possibly the most unattractive salad I've ever seen. The manager took it off the bill though and after that, my octopus was delicious. Also, 2 of the men drinking iced tea were asked if they wanted a refill and were then billed $5 for each refill. Service was very polite but food took quite a while even though they were not packed. At these exorbitant prices, I expected better. read more

I should have read the reviews like I always do before I eat at a restaurant. Visiting from out of town, we decided to have dinner here last Saturday.They have a very small menu with not too many choices. We ordered the fritto misto which was more fried vegetables, with the breading falling off than anything for $22. The mussels were tiny and some of the shells had nothing inside of them. We asked to speak with the manager who said she will take the fritto misto off the bill so instead we ordered the octopus... big mistake, it was so salty that we could not eat it! The food is horrible and way over priced!! I wish the owner would read the reviews and make changes! read more

We hosted our wedding at Primo in June and it was the most amazing night of our lives; all thanks to Nicole and Ralph! Nicole was so accommodating to every idea we had to make our event so special and the whole team there executed all aspects of our wedding to perfection. Ralph and the rest of the chefs made the food so incredible that people kept saying that the food was actually TOO GOOD for a wedding. Not to mention, the drinks which were some of the best cocktails we've ever had. The team at Primo is exceptional, such a pleasure to work with and the food is unreal. We had a raw bar, passed apps, a pasta course followed by steak and seafood. Everything was cooked perfectly. We've also visited Primo multiple times just to have dinner and every single time we visit, the food is delectable. The atmosphere of this place is amazing, reminds me of Greece. We had a drink at the outside bar before dinner. The bartender was great and so was the waitress. We decided to try a bunch of appetizers and one entree. We had the oysters, panzanella salad, tuscan chicken, and grilled octopus. We liked that the oysters were small but wanted to put our own toppings, such as horseradish. The salad was decent. The chicken was probably the best we had. The octopus wasn't edible, very fishy and chewy. For entree we got the ravioli. It tasted like lemon cello with cornstarch and were hard (not al dente). The waitress saw that we were displeased with some apps and the entree. She took off the octopus and sent us home with cheesecake that wasn't good either. However, we appreciated the service and will most likely only return for atmosphere/drinks but not the food. read more

Oh how we wanted to love this new restaurant. The place is beautiful, the location is amazing! The servers were great! The cocktails were very good! The servers were very knowledgeable and the , service was flawless. Now the food, the fritto misto looked very impressive!Unfortunately it was more fried breading that had fallen off the seafood & vegetables than almost anything else.$22. Hard to tell what you were eating most of the time. 2 of us had the bucatini Congolese, at $29 each presented nicely, good enough portion but very salty(and I'm a salter), but the worst was the cavetelli verde that 2 others had, at $26 each,Looked great but could hardly find the cavetelli, and again, very salty ....it was like eating a bowl of pesto which was tasty and probably would have been very enjoyable if the pasta to pesto ratio was better. In fact the leftovers that I brought home and added more cavetelli was actually quite good. We were so disappointed, as we had high expectations considering that there sister restaurant Heritage is one of my favorites. We will maybe try again down the road, and hopefully it will be better. read more

The place is beautiful and the wait staff is very pleasant. The food on the other hand was horrific and over priced. Presentation was beautiful but everything else was horrible. We started with the lobster rolls and grilled octopus. Lobster rolls where slimy and still had a ton of shells in them so we sent them back. The octopus was fishy and chalky. We didn't send anything else back as we didn't want to be complaining too much. Then we ordered the squid ink pasta and the meatballs. The squid ink pasta again was extremely fishy. The meatballs were a terrible greasy mess. I had to hold back from puking at the fishy taste and shells the lobster rolls had. After we sent everything back and complained about the rolls a manager didn't come over or take anything off the bill. Highly upset with the amount we paid and do not recommend. If I could give a no star rating I would. Giving one star for the view. read more
