This place is known as a throwback to an era when you got the best for less. The prices are more than fair for the awesome food prepared by their expert cooks. Buffalo calamari as an appetizer was wonderful with the right heat and the main course of chicken franchise was impeccable served with the thin linguine perfectly cooked. Visted here to order a to go order while am running deliverers. The guy behind the counter was very friendly and polite, he took my order and offered I should get the dinner version of my order since it comes will all i wanted and he told me it be ready in 10+ minutes, honestly was not a rush since I had to pick up another order elsewhere, so when i came back they had all food boxed up and kept warm since i did take me time to get back, glad they were understanding. We hadn't planned on going here for lunch today but was really glad we did. We were customers of theirs from maybe the early 2000's when they were in Newburgh. We thought they'd closed but they instead, moved to New Windsor. When we got there shortly before 2pm on a Saturday, the lot was full and we took that as a good sign. Turns out there was a pretty big private party happening. While we had to sit in the back, it was worth it. The food was great, the service was excellent and the prices were reasonable. An unassuming storefront houses Capri. Upon entering, Troy greeted us. He was effusive, pleasant and welcoming. Made us feel right at home. The wine list was extensive, and priced right. Dinner itself (manicotti, chix parm) was delicious. All in all, our dinner came to $62. For 2 meals and a bottle of wine! Can't beat that. My last review was 'one bad day' at Capri. We were at Capri on Sunday and I have to wonder, why would I want to go anywhere else? The bad day that we experienced had to be due to the large groups that were coming in, maybe not enough help in the kitchen......who knows?!? All I know is that it was a bump in the road. They had an Italian version of a Shrimp Quesadilla as an app. It was delicious and different. Veal Sorrentino out of this world. And I'll say that we had been back prior to Sunday's visit and Damien had a special that consisted of sautéed veal cutlet with spinach, prosciutto and provolone cheese in a light balsamic sauce. Wow! We ate here last night. I give it 5 stars for the food. The service was good. The waitress could've known the menu better but she was friendly plus we go for the food and don't care much about service as long as our food comes out hot and right and our glasses don't go empty. We were a party of nine so I would say the waitress did exceptionally well. They DO have a liquor license now fyi. I had the stuffed veal and it was amazing. My friend had the Chicken Roma special and she said it was probably the best chicken she's ever had. My husband got the large calzone which was giant enough to stuff at least 3 people (Cost $12.95) The entrees run between $18 and $25 but the portions are quite large. Everyone in our party liked their food and no one had a complaint. The only thing I wasn't too impressed with was the bread that came before the meal. Nothing to write home about. Ordered a chicken cutlet with pasta with garlic in oil and the chicken cutlets were as thin as paper no flavor will never ever order again!!

On second thought I got to give this place 5 stars. I always had good food and drinks here from the meat ball hero to the veal and chicken dishes all are excellent and the people who run the place like Damián he is very cool. The bartenders are excellent as well. I absolutely LOVE Capri! I have never had a disappointing meal at this restaurant. The tomato sauce is amazing, as is the chicken Francese (VERY lemony, which is always a good thing in my book) and the chicken marsala. The restaurant itself is nice and cozy inside and has an authentic Italian feel. The only slightly negative thing I can say is that it's often crowded when I visit, but I've never waited for longer than 5 minutes. Also, Capri makes the best pizza HANDS DOWN. I visited this restaurant at 7pm on Saturday and was sat in 15 minutes. The interior was clean and new and the servers were very nice. We had the Cold Anti-pasta and fried ravioli to start. The Anti-pasta with the garlic dressing was amazing! My favorite dish from this trip. My party ordered the Broccoli Alfredo, Seafood special, and Chicken Sorrentino. There were large portions for the Alfredo and chicken dish but the seafood special was a little pathetic, although very tasty. (3 or 4 shrimp and a small fillet of fish) The pizza looked good. Capri is the best Italian restaurant around! Everything is fresh and portions are huge! The free garlic bread and house salad dressing are both amazing! It's unfortunate that some customers find fault when the restaurant has been understaffed and waiting for a table is necessary ,but I can assure you it's well worth the wait! Like any business there are bad days and good days but this is a great restaurant, despite a couple bitter reviews. In the restaurant business you try to make everyone happy, but occasionally you cannot please everyone every time. I suggest anyone who wants a good old fashioned home-cooked Italian meal , the best francese around and a huge menu to choose from, stop in and form your own opinion , not based on anyone else's! Amazing!!! Came here the other night with my family. I never thought I'd say this, but the food almost came TOO fast! It was awesome! bread is brought out first thing, the garlic bread is amazing!!! my dinner was fantastic, i had the fillet of sole francese. Our waitress was amazing. I didn't catch her name but she was blonde with bangs, and was so friendly. Service is consistently awful. Staff blames delays on the fact that you're coming in on a holiday - clearly not capable of staffing up for demand. While the extra traffic would generally be seen as a positive so far as popularity goes, for some reason, they can't seem to bring in enough help to make for a quality experience. No doubt, the food is excellent, but the delays and refusal to accept responsibility for same are both deal killers for me. I've given this place a few tries over the last two years, and experienced the same response. Hey - I'm a realist. If you have poor service, own up to it. Usually the quality of the food will offset. If you refuse to accept responsibility though, I'm less likely to be understanding. read more

After many overlooked problems encountered over the years, hair in food, a piece of metal from a can found one time, not having salad, bread, certain pastas, takeout being ready over an hour past the time originally said, I always went back because the owner always made it right. Today, my family and I were turmed away from dining there. We walked into the restaurant, where possibly 8 tables were filled, only to be greeted by the bus person saying, "I'm sorry, I'm going to have ask you to leave. We are too busy to serve you". I was blown away. We were not offered a wait time, told we are very busy and short staffed it could be awhile, we were simply refused to be served. We asked to speak to the owner and we're told that he was too busy. The tension in the restaurant was evident from all the staff. Another waitress told us we could sit down but she didn't know when anybody could get to us. The bus person smirked at our complaint of how she spoke to us, to and when I pointed it out, she said, "What? I'm just trying to say I'm sorry!". The owner eventually came out and simply didn't care. I asked how they decide to turn people away when the restaurant was almost full. Another woman, who appeared to be part of management said, "We don't turn anyone away". I told her what the bus person said to us and she said, "Well she's young and new". Not my problem. I told the woman she should put a sign on the door to say they were no longer accepting customers today and lock the door. She said she can't lock the door with customers inside and snickered. I will never, no matter what, provide Capri with myself or my family as their customers again. All based upon how we were treated and spoken to. The quality of food doesn't matter if you're turning away customers, specifically customers of over 20 years. Good luck, you truly need it. read more

My husband and I were raised near Arthur Ave in the Bronx, we expect a specific taste and quality in our food. Found Capri a few weeks before they moved to New Windsor and ordered a Chicken Parm hero to go....OMG....I am in love! I haven't had a decent Chicken Parm or any other Italian food for that matter since we moved up north. The only way that happens is when we go back down to the city. I haven't had a chance to sit down and eat yet, but if that Chicken Parm is in any way indicative of what we have to look forward to, I am all in! read more

The veal parmigiana was very good and the pizza was great. The pasta fagioli soup was good too. The desserts were tasty but other than the cannoli cream, they're not made on-site per our server. The service was very slow but pleasant. The walls had splattered sauce on them (our table and the one next to us so it was not isolated issue) and the blinds have a heavy coat of dust on them. We just held a family luncheon there after a funeral. A fairly large group of 20+. The waitresses were friendly, courteous and timely making sure everyone had what they needed. Ate here with my family and not one of us enjoyed our meals. The chicken Marsala sauce was white and watery (not a Marsala) and it had absolutely no flavor. Even if they were having an "off day" a recipe is a recipe and wrong is wrong. The prosciutto on my father-in-laws veal was cut so thick we didn't know if was a tough piece of ham and my mother-in-laws red sauce was sooooo watery. I actually have an upset stomach from eating here. There are better Italian restaurants in the area- they need to change their recipes and their cook pronto to make it. read more
