I came here for the first time tonight for a real estate networking event. It was definitely giving coastal vibes. Extremely clean and very friendly staff. The event had 3 appetizers. I only liked 2 of the 3... Chicken which was ok, then these macaroni and cheese balls (I think) which was excellent. My friend and I came here for dinner on a Saturday evening. We made reservations in advance which I would recommend since they do get pretty busy. Since it was still really nice out we opted for patio seating right by the waterfront. It was such a nice vibe while eating - they also have heating lamps for when it gets cold. It seems like their menu changes pretty seasonally but they have a variety of food items. We got the blueberry burrata which was amazing and I am not even a fan of blueberries. Pear arancini also delicious and so unique - nicely crispy with such great flavors. For main meal I got the sweet sausage gnocchi which was also really good. Overall great food just that the service can be a bit slow. They are really busy and it doesn't seem like they have enough staff to accommodate all the guests. We came here to celebrate an early Mother's Day. Was bummed that it was raining all day and we could not sit outside, but we were greeted and seated right away. They did not have any specials as they were preparing for Mother's Day. Nonetheless, we started with anti pasta and the pork meatballs, which were delicious. Came here for my friend's birthday, and we definitely enjoyed ourselves! The food was delicious, the drinks were on point, and the atmosphere was aesthetically pleasing, perfect for a nice night out. The large antipasto platter was artfully setup and was very tasty with big heaps of prosciutto and mortadella along with some veggies and bread with burrata, bruschetta, and balsamic drizzle. Salads were very enjoyable, especially the beet and apple salad. The beets were cooked to perfection such that even a beet skeptic raved about it. Each of us had different pastas. All were perfectly cooked with wonderful sauces. Desserts were all good but the hazelnut cookie was to die for. It's honestly shareable size and would be enough for the table. Apologies, normally we photograph as we go, but we got so wrapped up in conversation with our friends that it escaped us. The cocktails were so flavorless, I sent mine back for a glass of wine! The appetizers weren't too bad . Then when it came again the lobster meat did not taste fresh and the sauce was just ehh. I have eaten my share of lobster dishes and I can tell it was cooked and warmed for this dish ! Other people at my table were not happy ! My son and nephew got strip steak and they were overcooked and tasteless! My brother had the primo cioppino! Seafood and sausage ! I had previously only been to Primo in colder weather and for a cocktail only, and I finally made it back on a beautiful day to enjoy their gorgeous outdoor area and Miami Beach vibes. Our service was incredible- good menu guidance and suggestions, attentive, sweet and personable. The food knocked our socks off. Portions are almost TOO generous. Our shared appetizer, salad and entree could have fed four easily but I'm secretly thrilled to be able to stab it again later tonight. Not pictured is the sweet sausage gnocchi, which was so rich and filling that we have half of it waiting in the fridge. I would struggle to pick a highlight of this meal because each dish was incredible, but do NOT miss the mussels. The broth is out of this world. We almost made a different choice due to weak Yelp stars, but the gorgeous weather and the swanky ambience drew us in. Great decision. This restaurant and its chef and staff deserve 5 stars across the board. It is by far the superior waterfront experience in Newburgh. Tonight I took my mother out to dinner for her birthday. If Primo's can be described in three words - Explosion of Flavors. This is one of my Top 5 spots in Orange County by far. Every dish has an explosion of flavors and it is all combined so well! Every season they try to include new dishes to add new flavor and new drinks. I will be coming back! This restaurant was a pleasant surprise for a date night spot. First of all the Decor is so bright, clean, open and posh that it feels like you've been transported elsewhere. We sat waterside and was really able to take in the beautiful views of the Hudson. Our waiter Phil, was superb. He was knowledgeable, accessible and honest. He really gave this experience a customize feel. To start our drinks were provocative and complicated but absolutely delicious. I had gotten the melon drink and instead of vodka or gin I had a double tequila YKTV ( not too sweet) perfect balance with mint and cantaloupe. My partner got the dirty mezcal pepper drink which was fresh and clean tasting. With our drinks we had a bread basket of toasted sour dough and crispy bread sticks with a ricotta with pesto ( it was green that may be wrong ), but it was delicious nonetheless. Phil and the sous chef team had treated us to a crostini with a house made chicken salad and drizzled with OO, this bite was such a a treat and had us salivating for more. The chicken was so well seasoned and whatever other flavors was playing on that crostini was dancing on my taste buds. For appetizers we had the Cesar Nero and the shrimp toast both are beautifully portioned and shareable. The Cesar Nero was surprising looking with the squid ink and calamari but the real star was the breadcrumbs charred spicy little bites of love, y'all need to package and sell that they were so good. The shrimp toast was a 4.5 only critique was that I wish the toast was a lil crispier but that is a matter of preference btw this is the only dish where you can have the chefs marinara and Baybeeeee it's so flavorful I wanted to sop the sauce with some parm and bread it honestly needs to be on everythingggggg. For our entree we had gotten the lobster spaghetti and the crab squid ink pasta with a broccolini. The lobster spaghetti was a 4, creamy saucy, savory with a little spicy bite at the end. The crab squid ink pasta was delicate and delicious a 5 for me. The broccolini was broccolini not bad, but wish there was something to balance the bitter of the green. It's been awhile since I've been at Primos. I will say I enjoyed it. We came after attending the Empanada festival and Bernie Williams concert on the Newburgh waterfront. The concert was great! If Bernie had a concert in the future I definitely recommend. We had drinks at the bar at Primo and Appetizer crudos, which were delicious. I enjoyed chatting with the bartenders and both apps were amazing. I will go back for dinner on a Wednesday when there's half price bottle of wine and a chef choice dinner for 79$. read more

My boyfriend and I went here for a celebratory dinner last night, and I honestly can't say enough good things about it. If you're a vegetarian dining with a meat-eater, this is a great place to go; I had the broccoli rabe and the sweet corn ravioli, and he had yellowtail crudo and a pasta dish with shrimp and scallops. We shared the affogato for dessert. Everything we ate was absolutely perfect, including the banana ricotta dip for the breadsticks. Reserve early if you want to sit on the patio; we made reservations yesterday afternoon, and while we thought we reserved the patio, they had us down for an inside table. They went out of their way to try to seat us on the patio, and were so nice about it -- ultimately, we ended up sitting inside, but it was still fine, just loud. (Granted, there was a large wedding party seated at the next table.) Absolutely worth every penny of the $132 bill. If you're looking for a special place for a romantic dinner, give Primo a try. The only reason I think this place gets some low reviews is because occasionally service is slow but I never mind because the location is awesome. Tonight our service was quick and the food and drinks were so good. The cantaloupe drink is so yummy. And we had the tuna crudo appetizer which was delicious. The octopus appetizer also was amazing. My husband had the squid ink pasta which I tased and was so good and I had the lobster pasta which has a nice kick. Great espresso martini and I had one of the deserts that was gelato with olive oil which who knew those went together. We had the eggplant and burrata as an app which was fresh and delicious. We both got pasta (ravioli and the pork ragu). Both very flavorful and delicious. I had a liquid desert of the coconut caramel espresso martini. Decadent and sweet but delicious. Also shout out to the staff and our waiter. Phil was very attentive and informative. The food unfortunately was overall a bit salty. I ordered the burrata. The tomatoes were delicious and smoky. The fried calamari were also delicious, but not super crunchy. The ravioli, frito misto, shrimp toast, gnocchi were all good, but heavy handed on the salt. Nope. I wanted to give this place a second chance. Fool me once... While there has been a lot of energy put into the aesthetics of the restaurant and the location on the waterfront is great, sadly the food continues to fail expectations. The Fritto Misto appetizer was delicious! No complaints there. Sadly our grilled salmon with lobster Newberg sauce was a salty failure. Waaaaay too much salt throughout, especially the broccoli rabe (that I thought was kale) and roast potatoes. I was only able to eat half the meal whilst managing to drink six glasses of water. The little lemony blueberry cake thing we had for dessert was no big whoop. I feel that if you are going to put prices at the higher end and sell yourselves as a classy restaurant, you need to be able to provide your customers with at least half decent food. I got the smoked salmon bagel and wasnt a huge fan, it way just too much salmon with it having salmon on it and in the cream cheese. The brunch burger was delicious and the fried were perfectly cooked. The french toast was sweet the berry jammed worked perfectly making it so You kept going back for more. My favorite thing was the bacon egg and cheese arancini. We got it as an appetizer and everyone liked it the most. If I could, I would give 3.5 stars but in the spirit of positivity and with the hardships of COVID, 4 it is. Let's start with the pros: chic modern Mediterranean decor that's great for a date night, outing with friends, or dinner with your hip family. While it's currently winter, they have an outside bar and plenty of seating that it'll give great river views in the warmer months. The waiters are very attentive and were always there to check if more drinks were needed. The food is both a pro and a con. The veal milanese is AMAZING! It's a big enough helping for two and absolutely well-seasoned and cooked to perfection. Now onto the cons: the tables for two are very close together on both sides of you. I get that they need to make money but I'd prefer a little more distance between tables. There was also about a 15 minute wait to get seated with a reservation and the bar was full. As far as the appetizer, lobster pan tomate, it was good but would have been far better had the lobster not been cold since the bread was warm. It created a bit of a weird contrast. The squid ink tagliolini- skip altogether. For a $39 entree, there was barely any crab and the pasta was extremely thin and bland. Overall, this place has the potential to be great but the high food prices should equal quality for all dishes. I'm willing to try this place again and see how it goes. read more

I am so annoyed at this place, our waitress spilled a cocktail on my father in laws suit, she was so passive aggressive and when we went to talk to the manager about our service, he didn't even bother to take anything off the bill, at a place like this why are you hiring unprofessional people?? it's one thing if our server was apologetic but she was quiet the whole time, she came back with our bill and just put it on the table and walked away without saying anything. a disgrace. such a shame bc it's a beautiful restaurant but such terrible service. Portions are fine but honestly, having the waiter questioning the quantity of food ordered, not appropriate. The scallops were indescribably small, I'm not sure how you could call them scallops. I think they needed to be thrown back and allowed to grow! All of the "ink" could be left out. It's not appetizing. Bread, go back to real bread or leave off whatever that dressing is and provide a nice olive oil. Sorry to be so harsh but other than the company and the view, seriously disappointing. read more

A thousand pardons for my review. We were regular diners when this restaurant was Cena and we were eager to explore this new venue. Sadly, 1st IMPRESSIONS are everlasting! The restaurant seemed clinical. There was absolutely no warmth, no personality, nothing for me, to personally to say, wow this is cool. It seems whomever REDESIGNED this space just exited a mental ward. The main dining room reminded me of my school cafeteria. STRANGE. Upon entering, we were faceed with 2 young ladies and an older woman. They were kind and sweet. The restaurant, mind you, on a beautiful Friday night 530 pm was Empty! The view from this restaurant is beautiful yet there were 2 people seated on their outside area, 3 girls seated inside the main dining room and, I hate to say, 5 people at the bar and I really believe they were just posers. Yes, paid to fill the restaurant. At that point, we decided to sit at the bar and have a cocktail. The bartenders and there were at least 4 seemed inexperienced and preoccupied with training each other and remember in my eyes only 2 true clients at the bar US! I didn't notice the group at the bar ordering anything. Strange. Moving on and heading to the bathrooms where I was confused. 3 doors with plaques designating MALE, FEMALE AND EITHER. My husband said the bathroom he used just had a urinal and a small sink .. so what if ANYONE needs to use this bathroom and have to do more than PEEEEE. When I went to the bathroom, I truly didnt and couldn't pick a door, the plaques were unclear to me to us both. So I picked a door and once inside I couldn't lock the door. Struggling to further now be frustrated I simply closed it and went about my business. I thought this place is empty no one will be knocking. Well, 1 of the 3 girls seated in the main dining room opened the door and it was funny but NO NOT REALLY!!!!! AFTER THAT I, WE NEEDED TO LEAVE. Need I say anything more. To the restaurant owner, if its not broken .. well I'm sure you know the rest. Good luck. I'm unable to recommend to do anything. My first time for dinner was a good experience, it would have been even better if we could have sat outside but since we were in a time crunch we couldn't wait the almost half an hour table for two wait. I have to say it is smaller inside than it looks like from the outside. I love the modern mix aesthetics of this waterfront restaurant. The black and white with wood feature is beautiful in my opinion. There is an inside and outdoors bar, always a plus! Needless to say the inside bar was empty compared to outdoors. The bathrooms are brigh, large and clean and including a unisex bathroom. We had two appetizers both on point specifically the lobster roll, it was very good. I enjoyed the Mediterranean chicken the mixture of flavor was very refreshing. For the Main course if you are hungry definitely go for the veal, OMG!!!! Three people could share all that veal, of course we had to bring more than half home and even the next day it was still as flavorful as the first day. I really enjoyed the salmon with the Newburgh sauce (I had no leftovers to take home). Finally, we had lemon cheesecake was also very good. Overall a perfect place to hangout, go out on a day or just a family outing. Since we arrived right at the peak hour for dinner, our server and everyone working was very busy, but they still managed to give top notch service. Went to Mother's Day dinner yesterday and honestly was extremely disappointed. I know Mother's Day is a little hectic and different but there is no reason why we sit down at 8 and don't receive our entrees until 9:56PM and the wait wasn't even really worth it. Meatballs were hard. Buratta pasta was very over cooked. Squid ink pasta was a runny, gooey mess, lobster didn't taste fresh, and the cider was very watery and had almost no flavor, all for decently expensive price. Was so upset I just stopped taking pictures. The waitress came over only maybe two or three times. The only thing redeemable about the entire experience was the atmosphere. Very fun, trendy, Santorini vibes. I could see this being a nice club/get together spot. Especially by the water. I am going to revisit and re try on a day that isn't a holiday and see if it was just an off night or if that's the normal expectancy. Willing to give them another chance because I think everyone deserves one and I normally don't like giving low rated reviews but it was just so crazy I couldn't let it slide.
