Long time overdue visit, proved to be that we stayed away too long!! Our hostess "  remembered us " gracious and welcoming as always. As s soon as we sat down our busboy Arian came by, and brought us water, a basquet of hot focaccia like bread and some dipping oil. I must say that he was really attentive through out our meal. The salad was very tasty with a balsamic vinaigrette, other dressings are available I had the chicken Sorrentino , with linguini pasta, enjoyable. Vulajio's is Nonna approved! We started off with the burrata and Sicilian rice balls. The burrata is served with prosciutto, which was fresh, tomatoes, and roasted red peppers. The chicken scarpariello was tangy, spicy, and delicious! My mom said the sliced chicken cutlet in her salad was nice and juicy. We wrapped up our meal with cappuccinos, a single shot of espresso for Nonna, and a tartufo to share. The owner, Joe, was so kind. It was apparent how much he loves what he does and wants to make sure his patrons are happy with his service. There is plenty of parking, as it is located in a shopping center. Conveniently located a couple minutes off of the Taconic exit. Vulajio's also has a private room for events or parties. read more

We decided to come back to Vulajio's because our first visit was very positive. This time we were very disappointed. We ordered a shrimp bacon wrapped appetizer that was on a special menu. When the appetizer came in and we bit into the shrimp, it was raw inside. I immediately spat it out (gross, I know) and told my kids not to touch it. My mom said the shrimp was raw and cold on the inside. The waitress apologized and offered another appetizer on the house which we declined because our food was coming out soon. The rest of the dinner was delicious. However, I don't think I can bring myself to come back after being served undercooked seafood. When the bill came they took off the cost of the appetizer ($22 BTW!) but wouldn't offer any additional discounts on the dinner or desserts. read more

Went here with friends mid-week. Were greeted and seated at table for 6 by friendly staff. Nicely decorated dining room, lighting just right. Bar area separate. Our waitress was friendly & knowledgeable, answered all our questions. Told us about specials. In our group of 6, most of us were very happy with our meals: food was hot, presented nicely. I thoroughly enjoyed my Calimari Fra Diavlo, just the right amount of "heat" I had requested. Meal prices were fair and included a salad. Specials were available, those were pricey. Great if you eat there. But this is my third issue with take out. I haven't taken out in a while because the last two times they packed it so badly. They packed heavy stuff on top of items that got crushed and were inedible and ended up spilling over the floor as the boxes and bags were so saturated. I called both times and asked for a manager to call back. Never heard from them. Tonight we ordered multiple things. One was the chicken Milanese with no onions and we requested they put the chicken and salad and salad dressing on the side so it doesn't get soggy. It came with the onions in it and on top of the chicken cutlet. We ordered mashed potatoes on the side. No potatoes in the order. It arrived with Onions and dressing on the salad. Completely soggy and inedible. If you are eating in the restaurant it's a great place but do not get take out from there. And management doesn't care so don't even bother calling to complain. This was our first time here. I've been hearing great things about it so it was on my list of places to go. We went for lunch. I had the chicken piccata and it was delicious! The lunch time portions were perfect. We also enjoyed a nice glass of montepulciano. The waitress was kind, attentive, and polite. We only freed food to be delivered and the pasta did not have enough sauce, way too much basil...the spinach roll and the pepperoni roll were good. I would give them an 8 out of 10. I really want restaurants to stop charging me like they are a 10 and delivering an 8. read more

A party of 15 with reservations went to this Vulajio's restaurant for the first time. Its was a big disappointment. The food was good but the service was not good at all, the waitress or waitresses were attentive at first but then they disappeared after we ordered our meals which took about 45 to an hour to be served. Some of us ordered coffee and it took forever to received which we had to order again because they never put in the first order but you would think 3 Cappuccino's and 2 black coffees would not be so complicated but it was, the 3 cappuccino's took 25 minutes to be served and the coffees took another 20 minutes later which we ended up asking for it to go. Never experienced that kind of service anywhere else. Will not be back nor will I recommend. read more

While visiting family in the area we decided to have dinner here. Tucked away in the corner of a strip mall you will find a very contemporary decorated in black & gray Italian eatery. We had made reservations but at 5:00 pm it wasn't crowded. By 6:00 pm more patrons were strolling in. The restaurant was clean & the waitstaff along with the owner(s) were extremely attentive throughout our meal. Everyone aimed to please. We ordered two appetizers, the special of the day grilled calamari & shrimp & the mainstay Burrata appetizer. Although I'm not a calamari fan, my dinner companions said it was excellent. The Burrata was very good as well. I had a glass of the Moscato & my companions had some cocktails & house red wine. All were perfectly made. Our entrees were the Filet Mignon with creamed spinach, Zuppa di pesche fra diavlo & chicken franchese. The beef was perfectly cooked to medium rare as ordered & could have been cut with a butter knife. The Zuppa was all seafood over pasta. No skimping on the seafood. My chicken was tender in a delectable lemon butter sauce. All came with a side salad. We ordered a slice of cheesecake to share & decaffeinated cappuccino's. All presented well. My only qualm was the $10.29 "operating" fee. They really should state up front that this will be added if you use a credit card. You'll find this notation at the bottom of your bill stating "pay by cash & save!" Had I known this I could have brought cash. Our meals for 3 were over $200.00 & the $10.29 operating fee wasn't going to break us. It was just the principle of the thing. We will visit again with cash. read more

I'll be honest--I passed by this place plenty of times but never knew what kind of restaurant it was. The name really threw me off. It wasn't until someone mentioned how much they enjoyed a dish here that I realized it was an Italian restaurant. I decided to give it a try one night and thoroughly enjoyed my meal. While it was a bit pricey, the portions were generous. Overall, I highly recommend this spot! My only suggestion would be to consider a name change, as it doesn't quite reflect the great Italian food they serve. read more

I have visited Vulajio's a few times in the passed month before I decided to write my final review, and I have to say this place is awesome! Just what the town was missing. Quick bite, take out, date night, or a few drinks with friends at the bar. Food is amazing and prices are competitive, great portions with a boom of flavor. Had a great experience there with my son. Was in the mood for a steak and Eric showed up with a Tomahawk steak. It was delish! Ordered it with a lobster tail, but in my mind I was thinking a Maine or similar. Got 2 small tails (maybe rock or Caribbean?) done in Old Bay seasoning (I think?) not a fan. Mashed potatoes were real, fresh & tasty. Veggies (mixed) were good. Carrots a bit hard tho. Jess was our waitress & was attentive. Overall it was a good meal. Ambiance - 5 stars. Nice interior and comfortable seating Food - 3 stars. Bread and appetizers were excellent. I had the mozzarella Romano and my husband had the mussels marinara, he likes things on the spicy side so he would have liked them to have a little more heat. He normally would have requested some red pepper flakes but that didn't happen as you will read the next part of our experience. For dinner I had the Eggplant Parmigiana which was good but arrived at our table warm not hot. My husband had the pork chop contadina which arrived over cooked and extremely dry and also just warm not hot. It was not edible and he left 80% of it. Service - 0 stars. At one point I asked my husband if we were invisible! At 6pm upon entering we were seated right away and tables to the right and left of us were still empty. We were given Water and soon after that a delicious bread basket arrived. A drink order was taken and our drinks arrived and that's were it ended. By this time the both tables next to us were filled and the server was taking there orders and there appetizers were delivered. We still had no server. So we asked the server that was helping others if anyone was assigned to our table. She said she would help us And took our order. At around 7pm our appetizers arrived. After that we sat and waited and waited and about 45 minutes later our server asked if we had gotten our salad yet. We hadn't so she brought it out asap. Our dinners didn't arrive until 8:15. And it was like they were just sitting in the kitchen and no one picked them up. Everyone around us who came in well after us was finished and gone and new diners were seated and being served and we were just receiving our dinner. The manager did look at the pork chop and offered to make a new one but is was way to late in the evening. He then offered us desserts on the house which he never brought over. No one ever asked us if we needed more drinks or if everything was ok. I think if everyone around us was experiencing the same delays in service I wouldn't have been so annoyed, but no one else was having any issues. The service was great, Bella was my waitress and she was so kind and helpful, recommending her favorite dishes. The food was amazing & we enjoyed everything we ordered. One sugesstion would be to give the mussels more broth to keep them warm instead of room temperature. The service was outstanding...Our server Isabella was super friendly & very accommodating. The ambiance was inviting, relaxing, & pleasurable. Our complaint was that we were seated in the side room which has 2 wall units, 1 was set at 70 degrees & the other changed to 78 because patrons were complaining about how cold it was. When we were the last remaining table in that room, management came in & actually lowered the 2nd unit down to 72.
