With large windows and beautiful views of a golf course, Prince Street Café strikes a perfect balance between casual and upscale. There is ample parking available, and despite being located right off the golf course, the restaurant is pretty easy to access. Walking in, you're able to seat yourself with a variety of options (low top, high top, and bar seating available). Our server was prompt and kind, the menu was quite expansive, and there were multiple options to please anyone in a large group. I ended up getting the corn beef hash platter, which came on a sizzling pan topped with a heaping portion of fried potatoes and corn beef and topped with eggs cooked to your preference. It also comes with a side of bread, I decided on a biscuit which was fantastic, buttery and fluffy. My breakfast partner ended up ordering off the lunch menu, getting a tuna sandwich, which also came with a heaping portion of tuna salad between two slices of buttered bread. They shared that it was a decent sandwich but not as good as other places. Overall, Prince Street Café is a great brunch/lunch spot, with the advent of spring this would be a lovely place to enjoy some sun and good eats! read more

I was attending a family reunion in Tappahannock, Virginia. It was our last day there and some family members decided to go out for breakfast. Prince Street Cafe was highly recommended. It did not disappoint. Good atmosphere, sitting right off a golf course. There was plenty of parking as well. We were seated right away. The waitress was very efficient and knew the menu well, never getting our orders wrong. I decided on the baked French toast, topped with apples and a side of bacon and coffee. My daughter decided on the seafood omelet and cinnamon French toast. Everything was delicious. No complaints from me. They also have an all you can eat buffet if you like. Ordered oyster basket with sweet potato tots at 11:45am. At 12:15 the server said my meal would be right out. I was seated at the bar in clear view. At 12:30 I asked the server if my food was ready. She checked and brought me my lunch at 12:33. The food had been sitting for a while and was barely warm. The tots had lost their crispness. The oysters were okay but not hot. Unacceptable and underwhelming. If I could give this zero stars I would. We came on Memorial Day around 12:45. The "restaurant" was less than half full. We seated ourselves based on the sign and were attended within two minutes. It was all downhill after that. We ordered kids chicken nuggets, oyster po'boy and a Philly sandwich. It took over an hour to get the food and in that period we were checked on one time by the waitress. We ended up getting the food to go as it was 2:15 by the time we got our food. The chicken nuggets were more breading than chicken and were definitely from a frozen bag. The oyster po'boy had 4 oysters. ONLY FOUR!! There were two kinds of fries in the box, steak fries and straight fries and both were undercooked and soggy. The Philly was terrible and was low quality meat. To top it off, the meal was almost $60 with tip. Hands down the worst meal and service I've had in a long time from anywhere. We will not be back, and highly recommend no one eats there. read more

This place is a hidden gem and when I say hidden, it's really hidden because it's located inside of the Tappahannock golf course. They used to be located in town before and unfortunate fire burned down their building but let's talk about the positive. Their hospitality & food is amazing. I scanned the menu and couldn't decide because they serve breakfast and lunch but the nice waitress helped me decide on the Fried Rock Fish sandwich . It was absolutely delicious. We went here for dinner because they specifically had NY strip. My husband and I both ordered a medium NY strip. Both came cooked beyond well done. You had to saw through them just to cut. We mentioned to our waitress who said her manager would not remake any steak and would give us a "discount". It took forever to get the food to begin with so we couldn't even order another meal. They eventually comped our meal but we left very hungry and very upset. It's fine if you can only cook a steak well done, but then you need to let the customers know before ordering or take it off the menu. To flat out refuse to fix or change a meal and make us leave hungry is unacceptable. The waitress was very nice. Our kids loved their fresh made chicken fingers, and the sides were fine as well. We attempted to order prior to tee time. We ordered a breakfast sandwich and chorizo burrito 30 minutes prior to tee time to go and informed waitress of tee time. Three minutes prior to tee time I inquired on status of food. It's getting packed up I was told. Ten minutes later I requested a refund mind you now food had been ordered 40 minutes ago. Finally fifteen minutes after tee time and my group left without me I had a few words and expressed reason for upset and finally got refund. A lady (assume manager) stated I don't have to act that way and would get my refund faster if I wasn't so rude and upset. She asked me what I paid I told her what I got and she was upset I didn't know what exactly I paid. Refund was given when asked which way to Tee #1 was told to go to pro shop and ask because they did not know. Highly do not recommend there was enough staff for as busy as they were but at a golf course should be conscious of your golfers and tee times to get repeat customers. A golfer at turn around ordered 2 drinks and it took 20 minutes. The restaurant was unorganized chaos. The concession cart ran out of snacks, did not have change or even adult beverages. They had minimal selection and second encounter was worse. Note restock inventory well when needed and have change to accommodate all golfers. Our group will not be back to this course not because of the course but restaurant and service experience. Overall negative experience. The restaurant was busy but not full. We were warned that the food could take as much as an hour to make it to our table once we ordered. It also took them about 20 minutes to brew a pot of coffee and bring it to the table. We were fine with that as it was a leisurely rainy Sunday for us. My bagel egg sandwich was good but the hash brown casserole had a funky flavor... not sure what was in it that should taste like that?! Everyone else at the table said their food was just "so-so". Do not come to this place unless you know everyone in the town of tappahannock they will Blatantly ignore you and watch you sit there and not even offer you a menu to look at. We didn't even eat here because their servers were too busy checking on the same table 8 times and cleaning tables that no one was waiting to sit at. The service here was beyond unacceptable regardless if you're expected to seat yourself or not the least you could do is greet the people who walk into your establishment. It took FORTY-FIVE minutes from the time of ordering to receive one sandwich for carry out. And then they failed to include either of the two condiments I requested. I then discovered a side order of "deviled eggs" for which they charge $3.50 consisted of ONE egg. This was an extremely disappointing experience. But bear in mind that if you order the sandwich that is literally all you get - sides and everything else have to be ordered separately.
