This morning wife and myself were looking for a small sit down breakfast resturant and was heading to one that she had been told was nice on Holland rd. We were approaching Farmers Market on Princess Ann Rd and Dam Neck Rd and remembered The Princess Ann County Cafe, we turned into the Farmers Market parking lot and saw sign in Princess Ann County Cafe window saying OPEN. We parked and was welcomed in by owners wife as she was helping out as their morning waitress was not feeling well. I shared that I knew that the resturant had closed but was not aware they had reopened .. wife and myself sat down and made our breakfast requests and it arrived in a few minutes tasting as good as it use to taste when the Princess Ann County Cafe was open before. The resturant has daily "BLUE PLATE" specials and a nice variety of regular menu items to select from. Knowing Princess Ann County Cafe is open again, will make the trip to Princess Ann County Cafe more often. In fact, I have contacted several friends. So cute! They recently renovated and a local friend suggested we come to try lunch. Inside is cute and charming, we were seated at a spacious booth by the window and it was light and airy inside. Our waitress was prompt with the drink order and brought us both breakfast and lunch menus just in case. I saw several items I wanted to try - like a breakfast sandwich, omelette, lunch sandwiches, salads, and their daily special which was country fried steak. YUM. Their Blue Plate Specials for the week was loaded with savories that sounded good: country-fried steak, homemade lasagna, homemade meatloaf, etc. etc. You get it. My father-in-law would love it. My friend ordered the club salad with fries and loved it and I ordered the egg salad with potato salad as my side. Very good egg salad and the potato salad was delicious. I saw several things I'd love to come back and try and their prices are fair and selection is good. This isn't fine dining but it was good. And this is a cute little place in the Farmer's Market area. Princess and County Grill is a restaurant in the princess Inn farmers market! Holy cow the food is pretty good. Cheap but delish. Chili dogs were decent but lacking a little something something. My wife and I needed to put ketchup on the chili dogs. Standard crinkle cut fries. Really the redeeming factor is the chicken and dumplings! They serve it with very great and sweet cornbread with butter that really really melts with the dish. Overall can't complain much the waitresses were nice and fast. The the dishes came out pretty quick, and the sweet tea was not diabetic sweet. read more

Wonderful country kitchen with fresh everything served with a smile. I had a delightful breakfast. The coffee was perfect, not burnt from sitting in the pot too long and my cup was constantly refreshed. The eggs were fluffy and cooked just right. Everything was hot when it came. We found this gem during a trip to the Virginia Beach Farmers Market. The restaurant felt cozy, but looked so modern, the service was excellent, we were treated like family and the food was delicious! The Princess Anne County Grill is located inside the Virginia Beach Farmer's Market. They are located on the western side of the Farmer's Market and is across from the Farmer's Market office. There is ample parking available, including additional parking behind the buildings. My visit here was for lunch on July 25, 2021. We had come to check out the place the day prior, but the online info was incorrect in terms of their business hours, which I have since submitted for updating. We had gotten there around 3 pm the day before, but they actually close at 2 pm now instead of 4 pm. Their hours are now 9 am to 2 pm seven days a week year round. We came around noon on July 25, 2021. We were greeted by one of the servers and was notified the wait would be about 20 minutes, which ended up being pretty close. The inside was packed and the outdoor tables they had were full as well. Once a table was ready, we were seated inside. After being seated, it took a while for a server to come to the table. One of the servers that was taking food outside to one of the tables asked if anyone had been over, which nobody had been. She said she'd be with us after getting that taken care of. In the interim, one of the other servers came over and got our drink orders. Shortly after, our server came over to the table and asked if we were ready to order. I ended up going with the Sunday Blue Plate Special, which is Oven Roasted Turkey, Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, and Green Beans. My mom went with the Egg Salad Sandwich with coleslaw as the side. After about 10 minutes or so, the food came to the table. The food for both of us did look good and came out hot. The turkey, mashed potatoes and grave, and roll with butter were really good. I did have some of the green beans, but they just seemed too soft. It tasted like the green beans were canned. My mom said that the egg salad sandwich was okay, but it was bland and didn't have much flavor to it. Overall, it was okay for us, but nothing that would wow me into a rating higher than what I have rated today. For the amount of turkey that was on the blue plate special, it wasn't that big for $9.99 as it was just one slice of turkey. Even though I am local, I don't come this way too often. I did have the feel that the place could also be a bit of a dive, as there were many locals that the servers were talking to as they come in or out. It's possible that it may have been an off day there on this visit, but I will try them again in the future to see if this visit was not the normal for them. read more

Man. Why did we wait so long to go back here for brunch! I've forgotten how good this place was. Reminds me of my grandparents cooking! Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Staff was very friendly and attetive to our 3 kids (3 and under in age). Desserts are amazing! Blueberry, cherry and apple pies was the dessert of the day. My brother, his gf, and I stopped by here on our trip to the farmer's market to get some breakfast. I was originally going to wait for lunch at TASTE, but they were "STARVING!!!" Lol! At this restaurant, you seat yourself and the server brings your menus. They have a great breakfast selection. I have been for their Lunch/Dinner, and I have to say, breakfast is definitely their specialty. The prices are great for both menus, though, and the servers are all very kind. Oh, and btw, my boyfriend's picture is on the wall here, along with many others, for completing the Eggzilla challenge! That's where you eat 6 eggs, 3 cheeses, a double order of toast, on a bed of home fries. He ate all of that.... then ordered a stack of pancakes. LOL! Once we sat down, I ordered a Waffle Combo with orange juice, scrambled eggs, home fries, and a biscuit. The waffle was a little well done, but still tasty. My eggs and biscuit were pretty dry though, and the "home fries" did not impress me. They definitely weren't "home-style". They were basically tiny, unseasoned french fries. Even with salt and pepper, I didn't really like them. My brother got the Country Fried Steak combo with over easy eggs and a bagel with cream cheese. No complaints from him. He will eat anything! His gf got the steak, egg, and cheese sandwich on white with smothered home fries. She enjoyed her food as well. Maybe I should have got my home fries smothered, cuz hers looked really good with cheese, gravy, peppers, and onion. I'll keep coming here when I'm at the farmer's market because the location is so convenient, the people are warm and welcoming, and the food is pretty cheap. It's definitely not modern or up-to-date in there, but that's what makes you have that timeless experience. What really shocked me was their food. The prices were decent and affordable. I have heard about this place in the Farmers Market and it's a hidden gem. This restaurant has a diner feel with country themes. They offer daily specials along with a huge omelet challenge to conquer. Being that it is in the Farmers Market, I'm hoping they use fresh and locally sourced ingredients from the market. We hopped in for lunch and barely missed the breakfast menu. But no worries, they have a robust lunch menu. The inside is not really good for large groups and it is small. We ordered the Chicken Fried Steak and Chesapeake crab cake sandwich. Our wait was quick and the waitress was friendly as well. The Chesapeake crab cake sandwich was grilled perfectly and you can taste the actual crab meat. The crab cake was seasoned well and it was a hefty portion. The chicken fried steak was delicious with the gravy on top smothering it. Princess Anne County Grill is affordable with great quality food. I am going to down grade one star and feel as if this is generous. I take no pleasure in doing this, I have liked several of their dishes but for reason more than just a poor dish an update is necessary and even doing on my phone! Thought I would get the steak & eggs for the first time. It's a favorite breakfast meal, but often I do walk away with disappointment due to cheap meat being used. I ordered home fries with gravy as a side. The service is usually attentive at the bar and it was on par. Coffee is always delicious. Food out within 15 minutes, they did have some customers on this weekday. But no way were they busy. The steak was huge, eggs over easy were prepared correctly and home fries are crazy delicious. However, the steak was cooked rare and needed to go back on the grill. After it came off the grill it was a medium well, I ordered medium, so still not correct. The meat did not have flavor and was not worth the $$$. Also issue with not clearing dishes until the very end when I was leaving. This is a huge pet peeve of mine, no reason when the bar was empty and they had plenty of time to clear off. We are talking they sat there while I drank coffee for over 15 minutes. Something that was annoy and have experienced before were gnats flying around my meal, no idea where they are coming from. It appears to just be isolated to the bar. Having the dirty dishes probably did not help. Probably will not be going back anytime soon. This visit was a 2.5, will round to the 3 and give benefit I got the wrong thing I guess. $14+ later and I am feeling cheated. read more

Ok the review is on a rolling scale with what this place is which is a humble cost effective little joint. First impressions are that it is at the farmers market. Ok we are not at the RITZ. First parking was easy. And access is good no stairs easy if you are less mobile. Once inside it is what you would expect at a market. Old restaurant with old chairs and old tables. Service is great. Very friendly. Menu would be relevant for 1950 as well as 2020. No frills great bang for your buck and everything tasted great. Something to be said for old school ways. The best part about this place is that they have blue plate special switch road take daily my favorite is the pot roast with gravy with mashed potatoes and green beans. When you come inside there's a bar that he can sit at small side tables and a few booths. Just know that when you do come in to the farmers market there is inside parking in the inner circle parking lot area also on the outskirts of the market. We came in at Noon on a Saturday and the place was full, so we sat at the bar. Even though they were busy, our order was taken and arrived very fast. My wife had the Roast Beef Griller, which was wonderful. (I took a few bites, in the name of testing for the Yelp review was my excuse.) Her dish came out with what appear to be homemade thin-style fries which were great. I had the Towne Point Steak and Cheese, which was also absolutely superb. 5 of 5 stars on Taste! I wish I could give you a bite right now to let you see how good this food tastes! The dining area itself is pretty basic... Definitely has that "mama's place" feel where less emphasis is placed on ambiance, and most emphasis on food preparation. Service staff were cool and helpful. The prices were very nice as well. Also, I saw it mentioned somewhere that they do not take credit cards, that is false. They now accept Mastercard and Visa. First time to this place today. While it's in the Farmers Market the surrounding area doesn't resemble much of a farm anymore. My assumption is that this place is trying to fit the bill of a diner in a small town and despite the modernized surrounding of busy roads this place maintains it small town like charm. Not often do I get a burger cooked medium rare when I request it that way. Today, this place sealed the deal. The moment I bit into my burger I knew I was in for something special. Getting the order right is half the battle! This burger made me smile and was happy use my fries to soak up the burger juice. Three of us ate for $22 before tax.
