D'egg is one of the area's simple diners. They're open for breakfast and lunch (7:30a-2:30p daily) and they offer typical American breakfast/brunch items. What set them apart (for me, at least) was that their employees were always kind, nice and helpful. Customer service really goes a long way. When I arrived, it wasn't super busy, but there were enough occupied tables to convince me to sit at the bar. The server who helped me was just as kind, nice and helpful as every employee I've encountered during previous visits, so I was happy to see that aspect hasn't changed. I noticed they changed from Pepsi to Coke products. It was recent, too, because some of the Coke items weren't available that day. Not a big deal, but the switch is worth mentioning for those hardcore Pepsi fans. Btw, this D'egg location looked clean and organized. I took a few minutes to order, and my server offered to answer any questions I had. I ordered an item I haven't eaten in a long time - country fried steak. My entree was out in no time and mine came with scrambled eggs (you can choose how you want your eggs), tots and wheat toast. They gave me a lot of gravy - regardless, I devoured my dish. Soon afterwards, I paid and was out the door. So if you're in a rush, this D'egg location might be the spot. The outside of the place is simple, but you can see the place easily with the green lettering. When my mom and I came inside, we were able to just find a table and then they would come by in a moment. It was a bit busy, but I was surprised that it took them several minutes to finally come to the table to get the menus and drink orders placed. Once the drinks came to the table, our server asked us if we were ready to order, but we weren't quite yet. I went with water with lemon for a drink while my mom went with Pepsi since they have Pepsi products here. She came back a few minutes later, and we were finally ready to order. I decided to go with the French Toast Breakfast Specialty along with Crispy Bacon, 2 Eggs, and a Biscuit on the side as a la carte items. My mom went with the 2 Eggs & 2 Items Breakfast Special. She did hers with French Toast (1.5 Slices), Crispy Bacon, and two scrambled eggs. It was less than 10 minutes for the food to come out, which was a nice surprise considering how busy they were on this visit. The entrees looked really good and hot when they came out. I don't do the syrups any longer due to the high sugar content, so I just did the French Toast with butter on it, which was good the way it was. The bacon was nice and crispy, along with the scrambled eggs being good too. The biscuit was a great way to finish off the meal. Although the meal did elevate the glucose higher than I thought, it was still good. My mom said the food she had was good too, and there were no issues. Overall, this experience was better than the last time I was here about ten years ago. The service was a little off at first since it took awhile for them to get to the table originally. There was a feeling of being rushed to order, but I guess that's because it is a small space inside with limited seating. One thing to note about that is if you come on a weekend or a holiday, there is a limit of 90 minutes to be there. If you're in the Red Mill Commons area and looking for a breakfast spot, this place is still worth considering.
