Hello I came to your Long Beach location tonight with my boyfriend. We called prior to leaving our Newport Beach home to make sure that we would make it on time before you guys closed. We made it here at 8:20 due to traffic and that is why we called in the first place. The doors were locked upon our arrival and the store manager claims that it's policy to lock the doors early bc they need to be out of the store by 8:30. To me that is complete and total bs. why would the hours state that you are OPEN UNTIL 8:30 when that is not the case. This is..well, now was my boyfriends favorite store to buy his shoes at and now he (as well as myself) feel completely disrespected and pissed off. The store manager also refused to give us the owners contact info to voice our complaint and disappointment. Please get back to me asap. I've been going to Private now since hey opened. I miss the days they had in-store raffles for the people that live local. The raffle through the app seems really hard to win because of the congestion of entries they receive. Today there was an in-store LIVE raffle for the Yeezy 750 chocolate which was very fair and legit. 12 pairs amongst approx. 40 people. That's something Proper would never do! There was people working and no other customer in the store they didn't even ask if I needed help and when I did ask for help from the girl with the glasses she didn't even look like she wanted to talk to me. Bought a pair of Nikes and returned them the very next day because the lining was coming thru the holes in the sneaker after wearing them for two hours! They exchanged them with no problem whatsoever. The same thing happend to the next pair!!! They sell defective shoes. Not sure but my guess is they buy them knowing they are defective. $100 for a pair of Nikes and they are coming apart the next day? Come on. read more

I'm a NorCal native and moved down here for college. Sneaker boutique Private was the first shop I went to and it's now my go-to place for kicks. The sneaker selection is so much better than your big corporate shops like Foot Locker and Finish Line. Their collection ranges from the newest Jordans to classic shell toe Adidas to comfortable shoes like New Balances and Asics. When I first went here, I was actually surprised that Private was able to get exclusive Nike, Adidas, Reebok, and New Balance sneakers that your typical mall sneaker shops would never get. Besides the sneakers, their clothing and accessory section is on point. Brands ranging from The Hundreds to Huf to Undefeated, it's definitely a place to shop at if you're looking for streetwear apparel. Private also has a nice selection of backpacks, watches, sunglasses, and hats. What separates this store from other sneaker boutiques I've been to is the atmosphere the employees provide. All of the employees are really helpful and attend to whatever you may need. They're also very cool to have conversations with; they all make you feel welcome. I always talk to the manager about the latest sneakers. He's a big sneakerhead himself, so he knows how to cater to the customers with the best sneakers around. If you're looking for a store to buy some real sneakers in Long Beach, Private is the only store I could recommend. read more

Honestly, I like Private a lot. Great customer service, fair "first come - first serve" policy, and a fair selection of different brands. Only bad thing is the phone orders. I wouldn't recommend that if you're trying to get a hot item that is guaranteed to sell out in minutes, you won't get them. read more

Best shop for the latest kicks hands down! Everything from the newest J's and Nike's in some of the most unique color-ways to my personal favorite, Vans & Chuck's. Private is a real cool street wear/skate/sneaker spot in LB. They got great selection of clothing and sneakers from Jordans/Nikes to New Balance, Pumas, Asics, Sauconys and Vans. All of the staffs here are always friendly and helpful! The Customer service is probably the best I've come across for a sneaker/Street wear boutique. They let you look around without bothering you and try to make a sale but they let you know that they are there to help. The manager Gus is a real cool dude. I'd come by during my break and after having lunch in the shopping center and chat it up some times about up coming releases. Just want to give a big thank you to private. You can tell how much pride the owner has in his business and how much he cares about his customers. Some people may try to claim wrong doings by the owner but he is a stand up and honest guy. Every time I've stopped by the shop I've been greeted with a smile and a "how can I help you?". Gus and Private are super legit. I can literally say I've been going to this store since Day 1, and it's awesome to see how much the store has grown. Gus seems to gets a lot of slack when it comes to the raffling of very exclusive and limited shoes, but people seem to forget that raffles are all CHANCE / LUCK. When the store first opened, I used to win raffles all the time, but once Private grew, I won less and less. Do you see me complaining about that fact? No, because I understand how raffles work and I know that you can't win all of them. People like to accuse Gus of backdooring pairs, but he's the LAST one to do that. He already has his own extensive collection of very rare and sought after pairs, so why would he need that extra cash on the side for that? Not necessary. I've also noticed people complaining on the fact that the coworkers seem "stuck up." Go to any other "streetwear" store in Long Beach/Los Angeles/New York and see how you're treated there. It's usually the same or even WORSE. Don't take it so personally, this is just the "culture" that comes with the scene. All in all, Private is awesome retail location with a lot of space, and offers a ton of variety with clothes and sneakers. The owner Gus is a really genuine dude and deserves all the success and credit for building the store from the ground up! read more
