I purchased a HydraFacial through Groupon and tried multiple times to contact the merchant before it expired, leaving several voicemails, but never received a response. After the Groupon expired, I tried again and eventually got a callback. I booked an appointment and went in, but was told they don't accept expired Groupons or that I would need to pay the price difference. This felt unfair since I had made repeated attempts to reach them before the expiration date without any response. I'm glad I only purchased one HydraFacial to try their service, because the experience was disappointing from the start. I ended up losing the value of my Groupon, but I'm glad I didn't spend more money on additional services. I agree with what was said that every positive review must be fake. I was treated poorly by one of your ladies Cynthia, I am not the first person she treats poorly if you look at the yelp reviews. She is purposely sabotaging the business through groupon because she doesn't want to take on Customers that are paying half the price for services. The funny part is a location like skin laundry for example starts people with $50 facials they make a relationship with the custumer, show them their packages, even sell them a membership. I have a membership with skin laundry. That is how some or so many businesses start relationships, through deals. Last night I ended up working till 7 am I overslept this morning for my 12:15 pm appointment I called the company before 12 to see if I can come in a little later meaning 1230-1245, because it was my initial appointment the lady was choosing to not allow me to go in motivation being the hopes to have more time to sell me other things. Understandable, but I bought a package of 3 not like she wasn't going to get a 2nd chance or 3rd chance to sell me other things. Through speaking with her further on the phone it sounded like she was threatening to remove one of my treatments and was telling me that I could either call the day of in order to make an appointment or she could contact Groupon and cancel my package. Which I told her repeatedly I did not want that. She was upset because through her threats I said that depending on the situation or circumstance those decisions the owner should be the one making. And in my opinion she was making executive decisions that should have been to the owners discretion. She didn't like that I mentioned her boss and continued to threaten to say she was going to cancel my package. Rather than sell the company, the services, the business... she was selling the opposite. She kept trying to sell me on canceling my packages which I find highly unprofessional and I have never worked with any company in which I have done that to somebody else. Hope someone in an executive position takes the time to read this so that it is known what is going on. At this exact point I don't believe is the owners fault specially if the owner is unaware of what has been happening. And I would have liked to try out the services from ONE of the other girls that isn't Cynthia. So you understand better one of the things I got threatened with and why I started to mention speaking to somebody else, it sounded like she was saying she could let Groupon know that my skin is not adequate for the treatment.... And therefore cancel me because they couldn't treat me. Which isn't true or accurate at all. After readying the reviews I believe Cynthia is the owner, and of course at this point I do not want to go in. Not only that they are selling hydrafacial/hydrofacial which on google states it includes extraction and they up charge extra for things that should already be included. I was able to get my money back through Groupon. In the future when dealing with people like this company I encourage to contact your banks and call in a fraud alert for false advertisement of services or for not receiving what you paid for, you should ALL be able to get your money back that way. read more

Started a series of 3 microdermabrasion treatments today after buying a Groupon. I go for the second treatment in 2 weeks and was advised by the 3rd I'll start to see results. The initial treatment was comfortable and only took about 30 minutes. My sensitive skin wasn't overly red, just mildly pink as to be expected with such treatments. SCAM!! I bought a package for a series of facials- which was not cheap. For the YEAR following I kept trying to schedule the facial, which I pre-paid for, and every time she would cancel on me for various reasons. The last time she canceled on me, I had only known because I had contacted her to confirm the appointment because she had canceled so many times prior. She rescheduled for a few days later which was a Saturday morning. I wondered had I not reached out to confirm, was she going to ditch me like so many other reviewers had experienced. Either way I was hopeful the Saturday appointment would go as planned. THINK AGAIN. I show on Saturday morning and the place is locked and lights were out. When I texted, she said I wasn't on the schedule. Um really, you just rescheduled me 2-3 days prior. She responded, from her cell phone number, impersonating the "manager". We exchanged texts back and forth and I asked for refund since she clearly was not going to honor the services I HAD ALREADY PAID FOR! She said it was against policy and I asked, what policy? I had never signed anything when she gladly scanned my credit card for several hundred dollars. She then sent me a pic of a blank form that was NOT FILLED OUT or signed by me. She kept going back and forth with me in a very unprofessional way and then got the "owner" to contact me - from the same cell phone number, mind you! - which was really just her boyfriend impersonating the owner (the owner is Cynthia). I have tried multiple times to schedule a facial and when we finally figured out a time I had to wait an additional 15 mins after my appt time to then call them and cancel due to me just wasting time waiting on them to "sanitize" the room. Mind you my appointment was for 9am and I called at 8:45a confirming my appointment as I was already waiting to be called to say they were ready, which never happened. I bought a package of 3 for a pretty good price on that same day. Appointment 1 of that package, she called to reschedule on the day of, claiming her mom was sick. Okay, fine. Appointment 2, I repeatedly reached out to schedule via text and email (voicemail box was always full so I can't leave a message), I only heard back two months later. Apparently, she was on vacation. Appointment 3, again she called on the day of to reschedule. Same reason as the first time she cancelled too. Her mom was sick. I made the mistake of purchasing another 3 facial deal after appointment 2 ( I really like deals, unfortunately). I showed up earlier for what would have been the first appointment in the new package. Back to Basics massage ( she rents a room there) has moved to a new location. I didn't get any notification whatsoever from her about a change in address. So I just sent her a text asking for a refund. They accidentally booked my appointment at the same time as someone else. The lady I spoke with was extremely rude from the beginning. Where to start! Since Covid I have been wanting to support small female owned businesses. I came across a Groupon for Prive Skin Care so I bought it right then and there. After 5 weeks of calling and leaving voicemails someone finally answered the phone and I was able to make an appointment. There was a time mix up on the day of my original appointment... yes it could have been me but i wrote it down as soon as I got off the phone. So then today I drove the 30 minutes to Holbrook arrived 20 minutes early and called to let them know I was here and outside for my appointment. No answered so I assumed they were with a client. Waited till 12 ( my scheduled appointment time) called and no answer. I called a few times and then decided to go to the door and look in the window. No lights on and no one was there!!!! From the outside the place looks like a haunted house with broken blinds and zero decor. After arriving home I sent an email to Groupon and they refunded me right away.... thank you Groupon. Cynthia did a great job on my nails. I got a manicure pedicure with gel polish for the mani. I was shocked at how fast they dried and how great they looked! She had a great selection of nail polish and also uses an LED light to dry the gel polish, which is safer than the alternatives other salons use. Cynthia is very friendly. Prive Day Spa is actually a room rented out of Back to Basics Massage & Spa in Quincy and is NOTHING like what the Prive Day Spa website conveys. I had called multiple times since purchasing the gift and still hadn't received a call back. I attempted to contact them via their website as well. They have no Facebook page. Please stay away from this Scam. I bought Prive Day Spa voucher $39 from Amazon Local. Facial was OK. nothing good, nor bad. One suspicious thing I didn't like is that it's inside 'Back to Basics' massage. I like Back to Basics, so it's not a bad set up. During Facial, she told me of 'deals' she is selling. One Facial for $39 or a series of 3 facial for even cheaper per facial. Because I wasn't overly impressed, but since it's near home, I decided to buy just 1 more...Usually, after a facial if it's good, then your face feels good for a while. If bad, then acne arrives. I wasn't ready to commit...I pre-paid for another service for $39 that day. And make an appointment for 2 months later. She didn't give me receipt, so I had to email them to give me the $39 receipt. On day of appointment, they called and left e a voicemail saying they had to cancel. No problem! I called back to reschedule but no answer, and voicemail was FULL! It took me several days to get a hold of them. Finally, on appointment day I showed up at the appointed time. The lady at Back to Basics massage was there and said 'Oh I'm so sorry. She hasn't been coming here for a week. Didn't anyone call to let you know?' They also gave me pen and paper to write Prive a note. And I wrote a note saying I wanted my money back. I Sent Prive an email asking for my $39 back. No reply. 1 week later, I started dispute process through Amex. Prive disputed back saying the service had been delivered. So not only they like to cancel on you, don't show up on you, they also lied to credit card company and try to steal your money for the service they didn't show up for. I'm still working with Amex to get my $39 back. Meantime, I have wasted hours of time and energy on email, phone call, and opening dispute with Amex. This on Yelp, I hope no one has to go through it. Unfortunately, worst facial ever. The facial was supposed to be 75 minutes but was about 45 minutes and she left for about 15 while mask set. She wore gloves while she massaged which I guess is okay if you like the smell and feel of latex on your face. It was all just strange. read more

It's very frustrating how a business can take your money for future services, but not as quick to refund for services not rendered. I paid for 3 facials and 6 micros on 8/9/2018 - I only received 2 facials and 3 micros. I'm ok with rescheduling ahead of time, but Cynthia text me on three separate occasions to reschedule our appointment same day (1-3 hour before our appointment). The last response I received from Cynthia, after requesting a refund, was that "You have two micro and one facial left. I will let the owner know and he will send you a check" That was 10/17/2018. How I wish I had thought to read the reviews before I got mixed up with this company. Here is my sad story. I initially purchased two mani-pedis, one for myself and one as a gift for my daughter. This was at the end of September and my daughter was to visit in mid October from out of state. The initial appointment was not hard to make, but on the day that we arrived for our appointments, we were told that the nail technician had to take her mother to the hospital. There did not seem to have been an attempt to notify us in advance that our appointments needed to be rescheduled. Since we were there, we had massages from the company that Prive rents from, Back to Basics. Back to Basics were professional and a good value and we enjoyed ourselves. They rescued our day. My daughter was coming back to visit for Christmas and New Years, so in November, I began the tedious task of attempting to make an appointment to use our vouchers. They were good until the end of March. I telephoned Prive 32 times trying to make an appointment for December 30th. Their recording says that they are busy with clients or on the other line, but that they will return your call within 1 hour. In the 32 hours that I waited for that return call, they did not attempt to call me once. On the 33rd call, EUREKA!!, I got a busy signal. The message I left said, since I know you are there, PLEASE call me back. I got a call back within a few minutes. I was able to make an appointment for December 30th and was told that the woman who would do our nails was the owner and sole nail tech, her name is Cynthia. I was to find out later, that Cynthia is also the only employee. Aah, but the saga continues. Since I didn't have a high degree of confidence, I attempted to call 2 weeks before this appointment to confirm. I have called every day for the past 2 weeks, excluding Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. I have never had a return call. Then today I decided that I had had enough and left a scathing phone message voicing my frustration and letting them know that I wanted to cancel the appointment. It suddenly occurred to me That perhaps Back to Basics knew if the business had closed or what was happening. I rang them and spoke to a very helpful woman who said she would contact Cynthia on my behalf. She did as promised, and within 5 minutes, I had a return telephone call from Cynthia. Now for the wildest part of the story. Cynthia said that since I had complained to Amazon when I had been unable to reach her and that I had complained to the people she rents a room from to run her business, Back to Basics, that I had damaged her reputation and her business and that she was cancelling my appointment and had requested a refund for me from Amazon. I attempted to ask her if she could understand why I was so frustrated with her and to ask how I had damaged her business, when I had only told the truth and had not yet even left a review of her business but she cut me off and hung up. So, there you have it. I have learned a hard lesson, to look at reviews before I book something like this in the future. Maybe Cynthia has learned something too.
