My experience with Proponds West was nothing short of amazing. This was not the easiest project for anyone and I felt like my concerns were very understood by them. I wasn't 100% sure that we could even build a pond, but I wanted to get their opinion first. My backyard was almost unusable for anything, I hated looking at a dirt hill, it was very steep and year after year drainage was regularly a problem. I was concerned that my pond would collect all of the rain water, overflow, and flood my backyard/home. Rafael and Chad came out to see the area I wanted to use and instead of telling me all the ways that it would not work, they came up with a solution. They came up with a way to level the area, put in a drain and to redirect the water away from my home - very impressed! Thank you again guys, couldn't have done it without you! read more

This is the BEST company for installation and maintenance of ponds/waterfalls. I have a 9'X13' koi pond, installed 7 years from Pro Ponds West ( part of Pacific Outdoor Living) that needed it's yearly clean-out and also replacement parts (pump, ion gen, auto-fill floater ). Sean was exceptionally skilled in determining what needed to be done & replaced, and he did so in a very professional & thorough manner while going to great lengths to protect my treasured Japanese koi during the entire process. Everyone needs to work with Pro Ponds! Chad and the crew at Pro Ponds were truly first class, professional and lived up to their word from start to finish. I made a cold call to them and gave them a shot. I brought them on to install a waterfall and pond system that I designed for a good friend, who knows little about construction or landscaping. I consulted and designed for this project as a favor to my friend and to help him create a self-sustaining eco-environment in his backyard. Not only did Pro Ponds deliver a beautifully finished system that could feed vegetation along the stream bed, they serviced everything they installed and came back whenever we needed them to (rare). My friend and his kids now love their new backyard Garden of Eden. These systems can work beautifully if you manage them properly and do what Chad and crew tell you to do. You can add fish and all types of fruits and vegetables in and around the recycling stream system and barely have to do a thing to maintain it. Truly a great idea if you want to transform a lifeless SoCal backyard desert environment into an oasis that can actually feed your family at the same time. HIGHLY recommended. Pro Ponds is the best in caring for your pond whether on a monthly basis (preferable) or for a big clean which I had done today. The guy worked tireless for hours to clean each and every rock and place them back again. No loud music and he hardly took a break. When the job was finished the pond looks like new even though it's 10 yrs. old. I use Pro Ponds on a monthly basis and I have never been disappointed. Three cheers for a job well done. Heads up, this place closes at 4 PM, but it advertises it closes at 5 PM. It really sucks because I drove about 10 miles to get here on time and showed up at 4:40 PM and everything was closed. Just giving you a heads up, So you don't waste your time driving up here and on unable to make a purchase. read more

Would it be too cheesy to say the guys at Pro Ponds West walk on water? It's just that otherwise, I can't recommend Chad and his team highly enough. Chad came by my house to assess an old rundown DIY 1960s-era concrete pond in my backyard. He spent time with me discussing how to renovate the water feature while preserving as much of the spirit -- and original, unique rocks -- of the original as possible. I loved his design concepts and really felt his personal enthusiasm for the project, which is always a good sign. He brought in a very professional, VERY FAST crew to demolish the concrete and build a brand new, 750-gallon Aquascape pond in just 2 days. What was once a dreadful eyesore in my backyard has now become its crowning feature. Pro Ponds West has been there to support us in new pond ownership, as well; they didn't just disappear after installation. When we were having trouble getting the water to clear up, Chad came by to help us put in a few more marginal plants, as well as to recommend a local water garden supply store; since then, we've had beautifully clear, balanced water through which to view an adorable, healthy little school of koi -- which we also got from Pro Ponds West. They also work with contractors to supply installation projects. Whether you're a homeowner or a landscaper, seriously, look no further for your pond needs. read more

I have never felt the urge to write a review for any company before (good or bad) until now. This company has a lot of work to do besides what appears to be their highly regarded 5 star storefront "experience." I had called Pro Ponds West in mid/late May to refurbish/enhance an old concrete pond in my grandmothers backyard in time for her 90th birthday party that was going to take place in the back. Her birthday was June 5th. After speaking with Chad and clarifying the requirements necessary to continue he enthusiastically agreed and drew up the contract: Huge waterfall; built-in lights; and Koi fish; DONE BY JUNE 3rd. Before the party (June 5th) they had miraculously finished constructing the pond and waterfall in time for the party at the last minute (After June 3rd...). Even though they were late on the original deadline I cut them some slack considering the amount of work it took to haul all those rocks by hand up the hill the house is on. Everything seemed professional until they were paid in full. However, after a few days the auto-fill died, soon after, the fish... Long story short, it is now mid-August, the pond has had 3 sets of Koi fish: I purchased the first batch after being told by Pro Ponds West (Chad) that the pond was ready for fish - this was after multiple calls reminding them of the work that was needed and that they had still not even provided their own fish that the contract stipulated. Not only did they originally forget to install the lights when they installed and glued all the rocks in place for the pond, but when I had asked Chad about it he replied, "That was in the contract?..." So, after the pond rocks were in place, the lights along with the applicable wires were strewn about the pond, visible from all angles. Not only are the wires visible, but the rubber they used to seal the pond is visible all over the pond; making it look dirt cheap - far from the "natural aquascape guarantee..." I'm honestly not sure if this was a mishap because of the pressure of the initial time constraint, but the very fact that I am having to manually fill the pond months later and and find excuses for them speaks volumes. Pro Ponds West has failed to return my calls and even send somebody over to fix the auto-fill like they have told me they'd do on multiple occasions. I have called and left messages consistently at Chad's office to no avail. After having more than 10 koi fish die that they have provided, I almost feel like it is arguably an issue for Animal Services now considering Pro Ponds West's gross negligence. I was foolish to choose this company and caution everybody else who comes across them. Hope this helps those who unfortunately do. read more

John and David from Pro Pond West serviced our pond less waterfall yesterday and did an outstanding job. Their thorough cleaning of the surrounding rocks made them glisten and the water stream is beautifully clear. They trimmed the existing water plants and added new ones at the top. I had Pro Ponds West deliver a load of large rocks at my house recently for a project I am working on. After the driver unloaded the rocks on my driveway, he and I noticed that the truck was leaking some oil onto the driveway. The driver was very courteous, he was as nice as could be, and apologized for the oil leak. He told me not to worry. The next day the owner (Chad) came out and personally cleaned and pressure washed my driveway. I was shocked to see the owner doing such a menial job. I was so shocked that I asked the owner why he was doing it and not one of his staff. He told me everyone was busy and he didn't want any delays, so he figured he would knock it out himself. How impressive to see a man who owns and operates a busy and successful company take time out of his day to come clean some oil spots off my driveway. That small act revealed a sense of character, responsibility and work ethic that I will long remember. read more

Pro Ponds West installed our pond years ago, and did a fantastic job. We have used them for maintenance these past 15 years without incident. Then all of a sudden, they stopped showing up for a few weeks without notice, and said they were out of town when questioned. No one would call us back. (Of course, we still got billed for those weeks.) The next thing we know, they are "restructuring", and we get notice they are reducing their service from weekly to once a month, but just about doubling their price. They told us they'd be doing things to keep the pond cleaner, longer (even though we already have one of the new technologies enumerated to me.) This was just days before our regular service day, and I was told to send the quarterly payment for the new annual contract, or they wouldn't be coming. So I told them not to bother coming back. It actually occurred to me they may have wanted me to fire them. If so, they got what they wanted. read more
