I lead a community garden and we're doing our annual soil top off right now. I called C&M Topsoil yesterday after a bunch of other soil companies (including several I've worked with before) wouldn't answer their phones or emails. I'm glad they never got back to me because C&M is superior in every way - price, service, and quality. The rep who answered the phone was super helpful and nice, we got delivery scheduled for the next day and it was the smoothest drop I've ever experienced. On Monday, May 19, 2025 at 5:28 PM this truck was in front of my Porsche and rocks were spewing out of the back of the truck because it wasn't covered properly and when I got the phone number and called, it went straight to voicemail. They never returned my call after leaving a message, I finally called them back today And they got back to me and stated that their truck was never there. Meanwhile, I have pictures the truck number, the plate number, and the time of day and you could even see above the sign. It says Laurel Canyon, and the time of day of the picture cameras don't lie. I found this place while looking for some pea gravel to finish some landscaping. I was horrified at the prices charged by the local warehouse chains. C&M had what I wanted at rock bottom (sorry!) cost, and they were nice enough to package it in smaller bags so I could handle it. My purchases had to be some of the smallest they've ever dealt with, but I was treated like a highly valued customer. Office staff and outside workers were all friendly and helpful. I have been building for more than a year and I have had many companies deliver concrete lumber block fence,you name it and, now that I'm at the end and ready to plant I needed fresh soil for roses and vegetables. Thought I had reviewed them. This was a few years ago. What I really wanted was a truckload of horse manure. I called the Burbank Equestrian center for horse manure. They said I couldn't get it because C & M got it all. I called C & M and they said they had it. But what I got was planter mix. Granted it was only $20 for a truckload. So it was way cheaper than buying it in bags from the nursery or home center. But I wasn't what I wanted. read more

This place is great, no frills, good prices, and super nice people in the office. I'm not aContractor, just needed some stabilized decomposed granite for a project at home. Pulling in, the office is pretty easy to find. You go in and are greeted immediately by someone at the front desk. Each time I went it was someone different, but was always super nice. You let them know what you need, pay for it, and they give you a map of the place to show where you to drive to. The radio someone in a digger to come and scoop up the materials to drop into your trailer or truck, and those guys are so fast they pul up right after you get to the materials stall. In and out in 10 minutes or less, super easy and now my go to when I need a large amount of material. read more

Showed up to the one off the 14 freeway around 3:30. Two guys behind the counter. They weren't sure who was going to help me. The one guy that runs equipment decides to get up and go outside. I ask for some prices and he grabs a book he has in the tractor and spits them out. Got three scoops at 80 dollars a scoop. Walked in the store and the price I was given was now 95.00. Let the guy know I was quoted different outside and he said they just raised their prices. So from outside to inside the price changed in less than ten minutes. I didn't agree with this and I was told he didn't update the guy on the tractor. I was told when I come back the price will be 95.00 and that they would not honor the 80.00 dollar. So now it will cost more than the original price to complete my project. The mom and pops that had it before had much better customer relations. read more

Called C&M because I needed to order some wood chips. I'd placed an order 2 years ago and was hoping they'd have that on file so I could just tell them how much of the same stuff I needed, but they didn't have that info, unfortunately. That's my only complaint. I spoke with Daren (or, Darren), and he was super helpful. I asked if I could send him a pic of what I've got that we want to match and he gave me his cell # to do so. Got back to me instantly with an answer; which saved me hours by not having to drive over there just to select a color of what I was looking for. Also told me the most cost-effective way to purchase (delivery vs. pickup, etc). Really appreciate his service, and will surely be using them in the future. read more

Best part is you can visit the place and see and FEEL the actual texture, grain size, mix , angularity etc. Every business has a different definition for what they're selling and fotos on a website are NOT very helpful. I called on a Friday and had 12 yards of stabilized, decomposed granite, delivered at 7AM the next day. They were right on time. The product was sufficient and packed hard. Price was $125 for delivery and $53/CY. The best I could find. My only issue was there was several pieces of wire, broken glass, and misc debris in the mix. I'm sure this problem is from the gravel distributer. read more

(Two stars because the mulch we got from them is nice). Initially, I had a good experience, My brother (contractor) spoke with two people to make sure expectations were straight, we asked so many times if the decomposed granite had a stabilizer in it, and they assured us it did. We got mulch and DG from them, they came when they said they would and it was great. The person I hired to install this immediately let us know that he didn't think the stabilizer was in the material but we assured him that we asked many times and they promised it was. Fast forward and it is acting like sand, my light patio furniture sinks in and it's tracking into the house. I call them to let them know and they send someone PROMPTLY, so I had high hopes, Robert was so nice and assured me that we would remedy this. He made 2 bags of the DG samples, wet them THOROUGHLY compacted them, and slammed them against the pavement. One he left for me and one he took back to the office (which is a cool system and I appreciate it). 24 hours pass and I check the bag and it is crumbly, just like sand. So I call them, and they offer to send someone out to remove the DG and re-install some, which is kind until they try to tell me that THEIR bag is fine so they don't know why I'm having a problem, I sent them a video, they said they couldn't open it and without seeing the video they told me that their product is fine. I really just want a functioning back area now I have a sandpit that I paid to install. Please go elsewhere, I've installed DG in many properties that worked well. If you are looking for mulch that was fine, but their customer service is basically to promise a lot and not deliver. read more

We are landscaping our yard ourselves, and checked out C&M to look at their options of ground cover. We were in the market for Gorilla Hair mulch, as well as pebbles (we weren't sure of which type yet). We were happy to learn that C&M sells direct to the public. In bags or in bulk. C&M has sample bins conveniently located in their main office, which let us see all there was to offer & choose a style. They were very friendly over the phone and helpful in the office as well. Plexi dividers, masks on, hand sanitizer available & we felt safe interacting in the office. We appreciated that we could purchase a smaller qty of bagged material instead of only having to deliver material. The materials are generally not pre-bagged, but it took no longer than 10 minutes for them to truck over our material and bag it up quickly. Bags are thick plastic, have a convenient list of available products printed on them, and they're even heat-sealed so they don't leak into your car! Huge plus. read more
