I went here for an inspection sticker for my 1987 Alfa Romeo Spider and they failed it claiming front end was dangerously loose. I had the car towed to my Alfa mechanic who knows these cars inside and out and he found absolutely nothing wrong with it and said front end was tight as a drum. I then brought it for inspection to my normal gas station in town (should have gone there first) and he agreed there was nothing wrong with front end. He thought the Pro Tire guy might have improperly jacked wheels off the ground during inspection because they had no clue how to deal with an old Alfa. Pro Tune did say they could try to fix it but didn't seem to be very anxious or confident to work on it because of it's vintage. So, they may have been trolling for business or more likely in my opinion, they really had no idea how to properly inspect this kind of car. They cost me a lot of extra time and money for no reason. This used to be my go to place for all my auto needs, not after today, no. Ever since Russ retired and Andy took over the business this place has gone completely south. I went in today for an oil change and stood in the lobby for 15 minutes with two other customers with no one acknowledging us. I saw Andy in the shop and I know he knew there were people in the lobby but he never came and said that he would be right with us and that he was taking care of another customer or was taking care of an emergency. One employee came out and got some windshield wipers to replace and didn't acknowledge the customers in the lobby. The three us of looked at each other and just kind of shrugged. I finally got tired of the waiting and left. I had been going there since 1995 when I first moved to the area and Russ owned the business. Russ was always on top of things with all his customers, always letting them know straight up what was happening and letting them know exactly what was going on and how much things would cost. On my way home by break pad went to the floor. Come to find out they didn't put the break pads in. When I called them, they never asked "well are you okay?" During my recent visit they replaced a part for me and charged me so-much less than the dealer. Then I had another issue and they could have taken advantage of the situation but instead they recommended I go to the dealer. Turns out the work that needed to be done was under warranty. Brought our car in for an inspection and they failed it. Said it needed new tires. We were just at Sullivan tire two weeks ago and had HALF-TREADS on our tires 6/32 and now they are saying it failed. They said they could do the work today for $1000 and set up a payment plan. This is a SCAM! I am going back to Sullivan Tire to get the documentation. So now I have to deal with this because they are trying to make money when I know that I have treads left and this is not a TODAY emergency. I went for an inspection and my E-brake failed on my car. It wasn't out of the ordinary as it was original hardware, shoes and cables. However the owner wanted to charge me $900+ so I declined. When I came to get my car he then questioned my ability to change the E-brake myself and/or find another mechanic to do it for less, which I did. I ended up paying less than half to a family friend who does great work, as a mechanic. When I returned to the shop to pass inspection, I dropped it off and later got a call that my car had failed again for the same thing. Further he said quote "it didn't even come close to the 12000 RPMs necessary to pass". But I had watched it hold to that when I picked it up from the family friend. In summary the owner was rude, tried price gouging me thinking I was ignorant of the price of parts/labor and then tried to flat out manipulate me because I declined to use his shop for the work. I brought my 2009 Jeep Wrangler in for a brake job, I was pleased with the service I received and would recommend Pro Tire & Tune to anyone.

Started going here a few years ago when my then new puppy chewed a wire under the front driver's seat that made the airbag sensor light up (and not go off). After getting told by Toyota dealership we used to go to that it would be almost $2k to fix (something about having to take off door panels and rewire a whole thing from the dash back) we stopped by Pro Tire & Tune. He said they could fix it for just over $100, and definitely didn't need to take a bunch of things apart. Since then we've come here for inspections and small fixes on both our cars. The only time I didn't feel great was when I got over-charged for tires when I was in a tight spot because the treads failed for inspection. When I got home I looked up the same brand and model tire and saw it a fair bit cheaper at multiple places. I knew I was likely over-paying, but I didn't have time that day or even the next to go someplace else or risk driving around with the red fail sticker. Then a couple months ago my friend had just picked me up and someone rear-ended us at a decent clip. We were only around the corner from Pro, so after the police left I told her to take it in to make sure her car was safe to drive. They got us in fast and then told her the car was clear to drive, all the damage was cosmetic or non-immediate (the crack in the bumper would probably fail an inspection, but didn't need to fixed on-the-spot). THEY COULD HAVE TOLD US ANYTHING. We said we were just in an accident, so they could have made claims about something needing immediate attention and scare us into getting work done. But they didn't. And they didn't charge that much for the assessment, either. read more

Service team seem disingenuous, price gouge and repairs always ends up costing more than you estimate. Parked and left truck to have a slow leak tire replaced. Told over the phone i needed 4 new tires immediately and it would cost $1k. Found the same 4 tires immediately somewhere else 25% less. Came back, picked up truck still with a flat tire and they didnt even offer to fill the tire with air temporarily. The summer before, they over charged me to replace shocks. Next day, i noticed one of the lock nut missing. Ive given them way too many chances. read more

I just bought a 2000 Honda Accord EX last week, and hadn't got the inspection done yet. To my horror, while driving to work this morning, the Check Engine light lit up. I called a bunch of mechanics, all of whom couldn't give me an appointment because tomorrow is the 4th of July. Matt told me to come in whenever (and that it would cost $45 to run diagnostics on the car, because a check engine light could mean any one of 50 things). When I got there, they served me immediately; were friendly and Joe dropped me back off at my workplace in my car, giving me some preliminary feedback as he drove me there (and around a little). About 45 minutes later they called, explaining the problem to me. I had a lot of questions as a nervous, first time car buyer whose check engine light was going off one week in, but they were very patient with me and explained everything in detail. Again, Joe picked me up from my workplace and took me to the shop. The problem, they said, was with a canister and some valves that recirculate vapors for better emissions. They explained how the carbon might be breaking off a little (which happens sometimes, in old cars) which was causing the monitor to go off. They also told me that the car IS still passing emissions testing, and that they can actually test this canister itself (and it was also passing). They then advised me NOT to get a new canister (which costs $200-$600), because it was working fine, and the monitor was just picking up the signs of the baby phase of a canister that might need replacement in the future. They assured me the car would be safe to drive (even if the Check Engine light came one again) and that it only affected emissions (which, now that it passed I didn't have to worry about for a year). The only thing that perplexed me about this place was that for such amazing service, it was shocking they didn't have any reviews on Yelp. Matt explained how until last Saturday, they were a Precision Tune Franchise and as of one day ago, they were now Pro Tire and Tune (I don't know why Yelp says Cartune Inc). TL;DR : These guys are friendly, provide great service, know their stuff, are good at what they do, and do not try and make money off you. Highly Recommended. read more

Do not bring your car here. My wife brought our family minivan here for a simple $20 tire plug from driving over a nail. The sales guy called to tell her that she needed nearly $1500 in repairs and that the car wasn't safe to drive unless they did them. I then called and questioned the sales guy about these repairs and he evaded breaking down the cost line by line because he was clearly gouging us. A simple gas cap replacement was $85 ($5 part at the auto store). They were also over charging us for new air filters which we never asked to have checked. He recommended replacing all of our tires due to dry rot and refused to plug the flat. Instead of recommending a budget friendly option he immediately upsold to premium tires we didn't need or want. On top of all of this they charged a "diagnostic fee" of $50 just for looking at the car at all. The front desk sales guy was rude and defensive when I asked simple questions about what the car needed. After blatently telling them that I wasn't going to do all of the repairs I managed to get him to sell us the "crappy" tires (his own words). Which were still more expensive than other local tire shops but I didn't have the time to shop around as we needed the car back ASAP. Avoid this place like the plague. Brought my car for state inspection, in early March after having just had it inspected in Virginia. They came out and tried to tell my my vehicle needed a new master cylinder, lower control arm. The only thing they were correct on was the DMV miss typed a letter on the registration. I made them show me the issues, and they had no idea I actually know my way around a car. They took a look at a woman and tried to screw me. They should be ashamed. They keep the along down my review, so I alerted and shared the photo of the false repairs, verses the proper inspection with the Mass Inspection board. I do not recommend them unless you want to be lied too. They keep deleting the reviews. I told the to forget the inspection, I kept my Virginia one and then went to a reputable shop. I'd be happy to post the photos of the paper where they said these are what needs to be done. Infact it's called fraud when an inspection places suggest repairs for a vehicle that do not need to be done. This is why if you check the better business bureau, it's easy to see I'm not the first that has had this issue. End of the story is they tried to make a quick buck, and tried to screw people over. They should really be ashamed of their business practices. I cannot help but wonder how many other people they have tried that game with. They sent me a nasty reply message to the google review. But they can't argue with their own paper work. I'm happy to spread the word about their poor treatment towards women and dishonest business practices. read more

So before I get into my rant at this crooked shop, I have to admit they do solid work. However, unless you know EXACTLY what needs to be done to your vehicle, and why, DO. NOT. GO. HERE. My engine was misfiring due to some sort of sensor short. I took it in and when I first talked to them they mentioned it could be the oil pressure sensor, but they should probably do the spark plugs (which were good for another 20 THOUSAND MILES) and an oil change (which I was not overdue on as I run synthetic). I said to start with the oil pressure sensor and then call me before moving forward if that is not the problem. Five hours later I call to find, oh no worries, they: 1. replaced the oil pressure sensor, which was not the problem but totally had to be replaced 2. replaced the spark plugs, something I had asked them to not do before speaking with me 3. Changed the oil, WITH CONVENTIONAL that they then had to switch out (this is the second time they'd done this to my car) and finally, 4.Found the actual sensor that was causing the misfire, a mass air flow sensor, and replaced it, tacking on another 300 dollars or so. They did all of this without consulting me past the intitial conversation, and of course I have no way of knowing if ANY of 1-3 was actually necessary for the fix (by their explanation of the air flow sensor that was the lone cause), but it did allow them to tack on about 500 dollars to what the air flow sensor and labor would have run. I obviously have no recourse as it would be their word against mine, but I've also never had spark plugs die TWO YEARS before their suggested replacement date. These people are either snakes and con men, or too incompetent to operate a customer based service business. Either scenario should be enough to steer you far, far away. Or to VIP down the street. This shop is why repair shops get a bad rap. My 18 y/o daughter needed an inspection on her car. I've been taking my vehicles to these guys for about 3 years, never a problem. Today she apparently needed a pair of tires on the rear of her car, a 2004 Ford Focus. The tires were down to the tread wear indicators, so they told her she needed a pair of tires. They told her that if she did not get the tires replaced, she would get a big red R sticker and get pulled over on her way home from the shop. They wanted $350 for a pair of tires for her car, including mounting and balancing. She called me, I went and picked her up with her car, and we went across the street to VIP tire sales and service, less than a quarter mile away. They charged me $199 and change for a pair of top rated tires that are highly rated for snow and bad weather. So not only did they try to scare her into getting the work done, but they tried to blatantly rip her off for the tires. When I went in to discuss this with the manager, he quickly backpedaled saying things like "well she could get pulled over, couldn't she? So I didn't actually lie" he also gave her a hard time about the tires that she had on the car in the first place, saying "well if you didn't have shit tires, you wouldn't have this problem. I can sell you more shit tires if you want, but you'll just be back" To an 18 y/old girl. Pathetic! So they have lost all of my business, forever, and I will never recommend them for anything, ever. I encourage you to not go there for service, and should you need tires, go down the street to VIP and ask for Al, tell him I sent you. Pro Tune may not like what I have said, they are certainly entitled to disagree with me, however everything I said is absolutely factually accurate and correct and is a fair and accurate representation of the events that transpired earlier today. And by the way, my beef IS NOT with Ted, he very quickly pointed the finger at his partner at the counter, who I believe is Andy, although I may be mistaken on his name. This place tried to rip me off. One of my tires has a slow leak, so I brought my car to Pro Tire to get it fixed. After inspecting for 1/2 hour, they told me that TWO of my tires have major damage so I have to replace them for $185 each ($370 total). I didn't trust them so I went to VIP Tires next door. They found a screw in my tire and fixed it for $26. read more

I got a flat tire on the way to work, so I pulled off Rt3 in an emergency hustle to find help. I drove by Pro Tire just in time without even knowing they existed before that moment. Amazing service. In 20 minutes they had the tire I needed located, but it was a couple hours from delivery. They put me in a loaner so I could go to work. Then I cam back at 5pm after a productive day and picked up a perfectly repaired tire. What started horribly ended as a great day. Thanks guys. read more

Under their old name of Precision Tune, they have fixed multiple cars of mine for many years, multiple brands. They also have fixed cars of neighbors and family members. They not only do excellent work, but have also cleaned up a mess left on a family member's car by another mechanic. They change the oil, do periodic maintenance, replace and rotate the tires, and have done everything I needed to my cars except transmission (where they referred me) and body work. They can even do state inspections. I have left the car there after hours and posted the key through their door. They can usually go out of their way to meet a schedule need if you can tell them far enough ahead of time and have reasonable expectations. They will tell me when it is not worth fixing a car. The bathroom in the waiting area is accessible and child friendly. The free Wi Fi works well. The television tends to be showing sports. There is a pizza and subs restaurant in the same building, which makes it easy to get a meal while waiting, and there is also a dunkin doughnuts on the next block for breakfast. They offer free coffee and hot chocolate and cold water to customers. They are a popular and successful shop, which means that you may sometimes have to wait until a lift is free. Because they do so many brands of cars, they sometimes have to get parts delivered, which can take extra time. If a repair can be put off, I have arranged for them to get a part and then have me bring the car to them, which reduces the waiting time. While I live within walking distance, they are on a bus line which makes things easier for people who do not have a second driver to drop them off. read more
