We hadn't been here in awhile but we came to see the Jazz Junkies play on Sunday, March 3. We even invited 7 friends to come as well. The new remodel was superb and very thoughtfully done. We were impressed. Our server was Jennifer at the table right in front of the band. She looked very well put together and seemed to know her job. We ordered our food, which for some of us, took way too long to receive. For examples, one of our party was the first to order and ordered tacos. She was the last to receive her meal. I ordered the scallops ... for $35 I thought at least I'll be full; I received 4 very small scallops, and a few vegetable pieces on top of some sauce. What was there was tasty but not enough for what I paid for. I didn't even think to take a picture of my plate as I was in shock. Also, I ordered a Red Bull with which I requested but never received a glass to drink it out of. I had to drink out of the can. These were red flags of what was to come next. At the end of the night, we were given 1 - $600+ bill for all of us to spend almost an hour trying to figure out who ordered what and who pays what! It was a nightmare! There were items added that were never ordered and some items were paid by the wrong party. All of which I'm not sure whose policy this was to combine 9 people's orders but was a big mistake. Jennifer never even apologized for this terrible decision. In the meantime, the manager, who knew this was going on, never came to help, talk or even acknowledge the issue. It was a terrible end to a good night of jazz. We have to say, if we plan to come listen to jazz again, we will be eating elsewhere and come on full stomachs to avoid this ever happening again. In summary, good choice in music, but bad customer service and too expensive! We were embarrassed for inviting our friends and are still apologizing today for their experience. read more

What a big disappointment. I had just finished running the mission inn half marathon and me and my lady decided to go to ProAbition for drinks and breakfast. We were literally the first ones to get seated when they opened up at 10:00am but we decided to sit at the bar. Within 5 minutes after sitting down we ordered our food and while we waited 50 minutes for our food we saw 8 tables get served there food and I was already on my third drink wondering what the heck was going on! The bartender, on the other hand, made mistakes due to apparent lack of attention. When I pay $18 plus gratuity for a cocktail I expect it to be right. We came here all the way from Orange County to celebrate a birthday pretty disappointed that one of our meals out of four never came out. We asked the waitress and she checked it turns out she missed putting in the order she did offer to make it however everyone else was already more than half way done so we passed on it. My rib eye steak was also not the best it was very dry. I also didn't like that we had to ask for everything like salt and pepper and sweaters for tea I guess they want to make sure how much is given out. I doubt I would visit this place again. read more

Great drinks, okay food. The food here is pretty standard American. Didn't really see anything that stood out to me on the menu so I ended up going with the shrimp scampi. I was impressed with how big and fresh the shrimp were. The sauce was pretty basic however, with dry noodles on top that didn't seem to get much of the sauce, I had to really mix it together. The amount of shrimp was also very generous, which I'm honestly glad about because it wasn't the cheapest. The cocktails however are great, they're much more creative. Both strong and unique. Im a drinker. So its not difficult to make me happy. Went in for quick pop, and ended up staying for multiple drinks. My bartender's name was Kenya. She was hella nice. If you are going here for the bourbon I would suggest getting it directly from the bar area and WATCHING them pour from the bottle you want. I order 2 2oz pours of Sazerac 18, $178 a glass, and it tasted ok but not "wow" good from what you would expect from BTAC. I have baby Saz at home and thought it tastes similar. I then order 1oz pour of EH Taylor Barrel Proof, again, tasted a bit underwhelming as Ive had it before and have Small batch at home. I get the bill and I was charged for 2 pours of regular Sazerac Rye, and I was charged for a single pour of EH Taylor Barrel Proof. When I went to the bar to ask to see the bottle of EHT Barrel Proof the female bartender grabs the bottle of EHT small batch and goes to hand it to me and I inform her that is not Barrel Proof. She looks at the bottle, puts it back, then continues to search for the magical bottle of Barrel Proof. Mind you I JUST had the pour about an hr prior to this. She tells me "I think we might have just poured the last of it some time today." I tell her I just had it an hr ago and she tells me it was probably the other bar tender who JUST left who poured my drink. I asked where the empty bottle is and she said he probably just tossed it. Lol ok......so look in the trash the right? No, she says sorry and asks of she wanted to check in the back for a spare bottle and I said no, I was interested in the bottle I was supposedly served from. I also looked at the Sazerac 18 bottle on the top shelf and it was exactly as full as it was when I went in before we were ever served. Im no genius but I know a 750ml bottle holds 25oz's, and 2 2oz pours would have lowered the bottle enough to notice a huge difference when I checked it again. My conclusion......I asked for 2 2oz pours of Sazerac 18 and got baby saz instead and was also charged for regular Baby Saz Rye, and I was charged for EHT barrel proof and was given EHT Small Batch. Also the waitress had no clue what a Glencairn glass was. If you are coming here as a bourbon fan and love the allocated bourbon, this place probably is a last choice and if you do get a drink, make sure you order yourself from the bar and watch them pour from the bottle you want. By the way the date we went was today 4/24 and we got seated at 6pm, left about 9:30pm. Dont worry I still left a 22% tip. Waitress had to constantly be signaled to come back over to table for water till I just asked her to being extra so she wouldnt have to worry about it and I waited about 30 minutes for her to come back so she can take our order. This place is The Biggest Ripoff. No joke. Was in town for business and have eaten here before. Pretty good selection of whiskey. I have no issue paying for high end drinks but this was extreme. Eagle rare is about $35 a bottle retail. This restaurant charged me $64 for two singles on the rocks Talk about price gouging. I asked the manager about it and he said he didn't make the prices. However when I inquired about the Old Fitz Birthday Bourbon before my meal, they said it was new, not updated on the menu yet, but would charge me....wait for it...$32 a drink. I told the manager that they should not price gouge like that and he again stated he didn't make the pricing. I said I wouldn't be back and of course he said "ok whatever" while looking at his cell phone. I am not making this up. On the plus side- Maya was great and if she reads this - I should have taken you up on your offer to fix my bill. Upon walking up to the front of the restaurant the hostess asked for my name and phone number. I did notice the place was empty and didn't ask her why she wanted my phone number if she immediately sat us down. As I thought, two days later I'm receiving text messages and links asking for a review on my visit. That's annoying. Next time I'll decline to leave my number anywhere unless there's a wait. Went to ProAbition for brunch yesterday with some friends. The music was so loud we couldn't really talk to each other at the table. There was almost no one there, but the food took forever to come out. My friend looked over the menu and there weren't many vegetarian options, so she asked for the brunch sandwich without pork. The waiter confirmed and repeated back what she said. Her sandwich still came with pork on it and it took 20 minutes to get a new sandwich. I have celiac disease and I emphasized to write down "Gluten Allergy" when ordering. The waiter confirmed their fries were not gluten free because of the shared fryer, which is great to know and made me feel comfortable that he was knowledgeable about these things. I ordered the burger with a lettuce wrap. It came out with croutons on the salad. I had to have the whole plate remade because of cross contamination. The burger came out room temperature. My partner ordered waffles which they said were good, but it was room temperature also. Afterward, my friend had a terrible stomach ache from her sandwich. I was so excited to come here. We have seen it walking through downtown Riverside at night. The service was sub-par. It took about 15 minutes before someone came to our table. I think the server had all of the tables by herself with only food runners to help her. Bad management. I had the catch of the day...Mahi, Mahi. It was framed by black lentils and squash puree that tasted like baby food. Don't get me wrong; I love squash, however, this squash puree was flavorless. Even just salt would've been nice. My husband had the impossible burger. He complained to me about the patty being too thick which over-powered the flavor of the condiments and therefore rendering the burger bland. I got seated pretty fast, for about 5 min I sat there no server came to ask me anything or offer service. Finally after my husband arrived, I order mimosa and husband bloody married. I thought mimosas were suppose to be cold as we assume OJ and Champagne are refrigerated, but apparently this placed a pre-mixed jar of mimosa on the bar counter and Bloody Mary is premixed and set in one of the juice maker machine! I came in a group of four and even though our fourth person came a little bit later and the rest of us had gotten settled with some drinks, I had asked for water at least three to four different times to different servers who were passing by. The food overall is decent, but very expensive. Finally got the chance to pop into this place during an impromptu double date bar hopping evening. I didn't know that it turns into a dance club in the evenings but I'm glad they allowed up to sneak in right before and get a table on the patio for a few rounds of drinks. The drinks were super good and the staff was really attentive even as they were converting from restaurant to club. Definitely a fun place to 'people watch' especially when dancing isn't really your scene - I'd like to eventually revisit for lunch/dinner/brunch to try out the food. read more

Only 1 star because the Buffalo wings were so good. I went on a Friday night for a girls night. Iv only been here for the club and had a lot of fun. The restaurant part terrible service. Took forever to get a refill on water, our waiter never asked us if we wanted another drink, and we were a group of six and charged us a large group gratitude of 20%. I wouldn't have minded if the service was up to part. My friends and i decided that night that we are never coming back. Also the restrooms were disgusting. The toilet didn't flush correctly, toilet paper everywhere and smelled. Just imagine a gas station bathroom and there you go.
