I found the estimate I received at this shop much higher than estimates I got at other shops.

They did a great job on our Toyota's heating &AC system. Good price, quick service, and very easy to work with.

    Value Transmission

In July my daughter's transmission went out on her 2019 GMC Arcadia. We, as a family had not had…read morethis to happen in our family for over 40 years; we had no idea what to do. We had it towed to a repair shop that my husband uses only to find out that they do not work on transmissions. I searched the internet looking for a transmission repair shop, reading their reviews and everything. I contacted two transmissions repair shops, I was quoted the same amount for a replacement transmission from both shops. I then read their review's reviews on both and decided on Value Transmissions on Skokie Blvd. The other repair shop put transmissions fluid in vehicle so that allowed me to drive it (very slowly) to the transmission shop near our home. This avoided an added tow fee of nearly $300.00 to go less than 6 miles. Prior to bringing it to the transmission shop, I asked the auto repair shop did they have any recommendations, he did not. I had already received two transmissions shop on the internet. So I went with Value Transmission on Skokie Blvd. The reviews were good so thought this should work. Thy have good reviews and are close to home and a car rental place. I reached out to the owner, Mark. He informed me that he could do the work and quoted a price. At a price we could work with. Drove the car to the shop to drop it off. He was amazed that I was able to get it there without it being towed. To God be the Glory! He took the car into his shop, took it apart and gave a date when it would be ready. He required a deposit prior to starting the work, which was understood. The deposit was provided and he started the work. During the time the car was in the shop my daughter had a work trip in LA, therefore a rental wasn't needed. However, upon her return her car wasn't ready so a rental we got. Mark stated that if we used the rental place next door they would provide a discount, which the did, Nick was awesome. When I dropped the car off, Mark informed me that he had another GMC in his shop that he was currently working on. I thought, oh this is a good thing. He also told me that he had worked for GMC for several years and was pretty familiar with their vehicles. So, I/we put our trust in him. Two weeks went by, then Mark called and said the car was ready. I wasn't available so my Granddaughter pick it up on Friday afternoon. She young she's not familiar with cars didn't know to expect. However, she knew enough to know something wasn't right with her Mom's car. When I returned home later that day, I test drove it around the block and was totally upset. The service engine light was on, the speedometer did move and the transmission wasn't performing properly. I immediately called Mark, of course the shop was closed and not open on the weekend. I left a very upsetting voicemail letting him know how unhappy I was. I expressed to him that we paid what he asked with no hesitation. And for the car to run the way it did was very disappointing. I told him that I was bringing it back early on Monday morning. I needed everything to be fixed properly. I told him that we had already turned the rental car in a now had to rent another car because my daughter had to get to work. He did call back, apologized, he said bring it back in and that he would work something out on the second rental. Took the car in that Monday throughout the entire process Mark kept in touch as to what was going on with the car. I thought that was very good of him as an owner of a repair shop. After 5 days Mark called and said the car was ready for pickup. I was available this time so I went to get it. I wanted to take it for a test run. The employee that worked on the car, Wintrust when along with me for the test drive. I was very impressed with the work that was done. Wintrust & I drove it for nearly a mile. I accelerated at different speeds, stopping and going at different speeds and everything was good. Wintrust informed me that a bad part was delivered to them and that was the problem. They were able to get the correct part, install it and put the transmission back in and repair the car to their satisfaction. I would recommend this shop for transmission work. They stand by their work and with Wintrust on the case you will be satisfied.

    Car-X Tire & Auto

1 star. Repeated failed repairs, wasted time, little to no accountability…read more I've been a CarX customer since April 25, and what should have been a straightforward suspension repair has turned into months of wasted time and a car that still isn't fixed. April 25: Brought my car in for a clunking sound (diagnosed by a tire shop as a broken sway bar). CarX found additional issues such control arm, control arm bushings, sway bar and I approved the work. Mike promised it done by noon, and it was. No complaints here. May 12: Came back for recommended front struts/shocks, with an 8:15 appointment. Car wasn't even looked at for over 2 hours. After a 3-hour "diagnostic" delay, I approved the replacement. Total time: 6 hours for an appointment that was supposed to start on time. Picked up the car and was told it was running great. The very next day, the clunking sound was back again especially over uneven roads. Early June: Brought it in again for a suspension check. Told everything was tightened and the part might be defective. Good news that it would be free of charge. I mean i would highly think so. They ordered a new part, said it would take a week, and that the car was safe to drive. Over a week later, no call. I had to call myself on June 17 to check status, and the part had supposedly "just" arrived. I asked when I could bring the car in, and was told Friday, June 19, would work, I'd just need to give them a few hours. When I dropped it off, Mike told me I'd have to "catch him on a good day" and that they were too busy to finish it that day. Rescheduled to Saturday, despite having called ahead to set this up in the first place. Job finally done Saturday, told no more sounds. Clunking sound was still there. Took it to a different, independent mechanic, who diagnosed a loose control arm (especially driver side) within the hour. Since it looked like they've just been replaced. They recommended I take it back to CarX since it was their work and under warranty. July 7: Brought it back, multiple parts replaced again, told it was working great. A few hours later, grinding sound when braking. And still with clunking sounds. Next day: drop-off my car to CarX before work. By 9:30 told I needed $680 in brake work which was absurd given they still hadn't successfully repaired the ongoing clunking sound my car makes. Really they owe me a partial refund given the ongoing issue. I was met with "lifetime guarantee" reassurances, but they wouldn't even take payment over the phone despite everything I'd already been through with scheduling. I ended up taking my car elsewhere instead for a brake replacement. My car is still making the clunking sound to this day. Multiple visits, repeated "it's fixed, no more noise" assurances, and the original issue remains unresolved. Appointments don't seem to mean anything here, you'll wait hours regardless. They have no efficient process to get customers in and out efficiently. If you value your time or want a repair that actually holds, I'd look elsewhere. We honor our warranty? How so? I've returned every days off that I can. It's still not fixed. Like how many opportunities does this shop want? Because I don't have all the time in the world. Do I get a loaner car? Nope. Very loose control arm is a diagnostic I've gotten from a different mechanic.

I recently came here for a wheel alignment, but unfortunately the service was not done properly…read more After the alignment, my steering wheel was still not centered and the car was pulling to one side. When I called back to explain the issue, instead of trying to resolve it, the employee I spoke with became rude and started yelling. I was told that they would not redo the alignment unless I bought new tires from them, which has nothing to do with correcting a steering wheel that was misaligned during service. This was very unprofessional and disappointing. A proper business should stand behind their work and at least recheck the alignment, regardless of where the tires were purchased. I would not recommend this shop based on my experience. Poor customer service and refusal to fix their own work is unacceptable
