We hired Professional Foundation Repairs (Ozzy and Darin) during our home purchase after they identified foundation/leveling issues. After the work was completed the leveling showed little improvement and they told us the contract "wasn't specific enough." Four years later three different foundation companies inspected the house and found multiple areas where the previous repairs are failing and large visible sections (including the entire front of the house) were never brought up to code or properly retrofitted. I contacted Ozzy and was initially told Darin would cover the corrective work (there are text messages confirming this), but the company then stopped returning calls and messages. Darin (the owner) has not returned my calls. I have inspection reports, photos of the deteriorated repairs, and our text messages documenting their agreement. Their advertised 10-year warranty proved meaningless in practice. Bottom line: poor workmanship, broken promises, and no aftercare. I cannot recommend them. read more

We had an extremely disappointing experience with this foundation company. They did not complete the work they were hired to do, and the repairs they did perform were rushed and clearly half-done. Since the work was performed, we have sent countless emails and made numerous phone calls, all of which have gone unanswered. Despite this, they are now demanding payment for work that was never completed. To make matters worse, we had two separate foundation experts come out to inspect the property, and both confirmed that the scope of work was not done and that critical repairs were still missing. ( I had to hire another party to address a critical repair) that should have been initial completed by PFR. This level of service is completely unacceptable. A company handling something as serious as foundation repairs should be professional, responsive, and accountable. Instead, we were left with unfinished work, no communication, and added expense to fix their mistakes. They should be ashamed of how this was handled. Overall our experience with PFR was good. The only area of improvement was in communication. At one point I received a 9pm text notifying me that workers would be at the property the following day. If I was living in the property that wouldn't have been a problem. But this is a rental property. There are elderly people in the home as well as people who work from home. The person texting me was apologetic. My biggest concern on communication were when fees increased or new fees needed to be paid. PFR had to order additional material which was not expected or disclosed it might be needed in the original contract. I noticed when they sent me the bill. Had I not looked over my bill in detail I would not have known about the additional cost. I spoke to the owner who apologized and gave me a discount. My last bill had an additional fee for a special inspection. Again I was not notified about this additional fee. While this special inspection possibility was disclosed no one told me it had happened. Therefore I had to scramble to get the extra $825 to pay PFR. I should have known about this charge the moment it happened so I could plan accordingly. Those were the main hiccups. Other than that the process was great. It took awhile because of unforseen material that needed to be ordered. The whole process took about 7 months. Which I suspected it would because we were dealing with LA County for permits. The work they did looks great! I am very happy with their work. Everyone was very helpful and nice when I spoke to them, apologetic for the mishaps. UPDATE: The manager's comment unfortunately confirms my impression that this company is misinformed about the EBB program. He explained the reason for their exorbitant price is my CMU foundations. Not to get too technical, but all that EBB requires for CMU foundations is that they be "grouted," which mine are. How do I know? Because the EBB approved my project without issue. I saw their official email, and all they asked from my contractor was a confirmation that the cells to be bolted are grouted. No structural engineering plans, no surprises, and the city approved it all quickly without any problems. I can't speak to PFR's quality of technical work. They seem nice and the manager's polite response makes me think that this was an honest mistake. (I added 1 star because I appreciate that he at least took the time to explain). But if you are doing an earthquake retrofit through the state's EBB grant, I recommend choosing a company that is up to date with the program's bureaucratic requirements. That way you won't get overcharged for things that are not in fact required by the EBB. -- ORIGINAL REVIEW: Just a warning that this company is extremely EXPENSIVE. I can't comment on the quality of the work because I didn't hire them. I got several quotes for an EBB program earthquake retrofit. Professional Foundation Repair was by far the highest. They came in at $2.5k more than the second highest quote. And about $3k more than the middle quotes I got. (For a one-day job that was about $4500 on average). And the PFR quote didn't even include the cost of permits, unlike the others, so in the end it would have been even higher! The EBB is a standardized California-state program with the same plan. Literally, every quote I received had identical line items in the scope of work. I have been scratching my head trying to figure out why PFR wouldn't want to be competitive at all. I don't like writing negative reviews. Ulises who came over seemed nice, but I got the sense they are not as versed in the EBB as some of the other estimators who came to my house and who sounded much more knowledgeable about that process. It's possible PFR would be great for other kinds of foundation work. But I wanted to share this one data point about the EBB specifically. I hope it helps someone else who won the grant like I did, and is trying to hire a contractor for that program at a fair price. read more

Initially I had an inspection done back in the spring of 2024, in order to get an estimate for the work that needed to be done. After getting other inspections and estimates, I decided to go with Professional Foundation Repair. I had to wait a year to get the money I needed to have the work done. My home is on a raised foundation and a lot of the pillars were not supporting the floor of my home. I waited a year in order to have the work done after I saved enough money. My home was Inspected again by Ulises in March of this year and work was completed in May after waiting for city permit. I was impressed with the quality of the work done. Asea, Gustavo and Hilton were the individuals that did all the work. It was estimated 2 to 3 days and were able to finish the work 2 days. I'm sad to be writing this review but I feel it is important to alert others. We had a few people come out to look at the foundation of our home. We decided to go with this company as they said they could to the foundation in parts and it was going to be more cost effective for us. They came out and worked on a section of the home and unfortunately it did not resolve any of the issues that we were having. We spent about $6000 on this work and now we need to have the entire foundation replaced anyways. We've had several other companies come out since to look at the scope of work and were told by multiple sources that a foundation should never be repaired in pieces and that must be all fixed at the same time to truly remedy the issues that you are having with the structure of the home. As a homeowner it is very hard to know who to trust and you make the best decisions you can, but unfortunately not all companies are trustworthy and tell you like it is.
