Thuy is located in the back right of hair international and is such a lovely person. Great conversationalist and makes the time fly by as you watch her work her magic on your nails. I got a powder dip and I appreciated that she really took her time to do my nails when I feel like a lot of people rush these days. I don't get my nails done extremely often but I'd make the trip out to Palo Alto just to come back to Thuy. Thanks for my beautiful nails!

La Jolie has become like family. My daughter has been coming here since she was just five years old, and now at 20, it's still one of the first places she wants to visit whenever she's home from college. They are not only incredibly talented and detail-oriented, but they also create such a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. I usually avoid gel manicures (hi, UV exposure), but I needed the extra staying power. The reviews promised a "peaceful oasis," so I thought perfect! When I arrived, it was empty and quiet... except for one lady camped out on a pedi chair watching a loud show on an iPad, shoes off, fully posted up. Not exactly tranquil, but it was off-peak hours, so I let it slide. Then a few customers started to arrive and one of the ladies sprang to life, turned off the iPad, grabbed the remote, and I thought, ahhh yes, here comes the spa music. Nope. What blasted out of the speakers was basically the opposite of "serenity." Think explicit lyrics, heavy on the NSFW language, I'm talking extremely vulgar language, swear words, graphic names for male and female parts, the kind of music that's not just inappropriate for a spa, but for any public, family-friendly space. There were kids in the room! I was cringing in disbelief. Honestly don't think they understood the lyrics or they probably would've changed it but still, why choose that genre at all for a place called Serenity Nails? Still, I wasn't going to write a review until my nails started peeling on day 3. I've had plenty of gel manis in my life and never had them fall apart this fast. Two nails are a mess, and I'm heading to wine country tomorrow. Not ideal. The woman who did my nails was nice, but the space wasn't especially clean or calming like some reviews suggested. Between the background soundtrack and my sad nails I'm starting to wonder if some of these reviews are in fact real or from overly generous existing customers or friends. The one thing I won't be wondering about is where I'll get my next gel mani.

If I could give negative stars to rate this nail salon quality and management, I would!…read more The first thing that happened after I had been going to Meew for about a year was, I went to checkout after my service one day and noticed that my total was $55 less that day. I asked the receptionist why and she looked at my service history and saw that I had been being over charged for a different service that whole time. When I reached out to the owner Anna to have her review my past services and issue me a credit towards future appointments she kept pushing me off, saying "I will look tomorrow" . As this went on for weeks. I came into the salon and saw her decorating the front door and asked if we could get this sorted and she told me she was busy decorating and would get back to me, continuing to put me off. I ended up taking matters into my own hands and requesting my history from the receptionist and added up the total and told them how much of a credit I have and had to keep a log myself until I was made whole in that situation. I had been going to this very expensive nail salon for almost 2 years. Before I took a nail break due to a fingernail infection that I suspect was caused by this salon. I had several issues with my gel polish peeling off of my nails over the last few months I was going there. Twice I had the gel polish peeling off same day/next day before even taking a shower and when I contacted the salon they were telling me that it had to be something I was doing. I had to go in twice within 72 hours to get my nails fixed. My guess is that the products they are using are no good and not sticking to the nail bed and I have several friends that experience the same thing. (My girlfriend got her nails done before heading to a wedding in Europe and had to attend with no polish on one nail because the whole thing peeled off in one piece. ) I reached out to an old nail tech I previously saw and she recommended which base and top coat to use. I then purchased those products and brought them with me the last time I was in and my polish lasted 2 weeks+ (that was the fix). But after that my nail became infected. I was diagnosed by my primary physician and was prescribed antibiotics to take for a week as well as an antibiotic ointment to use. Not using my best judgement, now that my finger is healed and I have an event coming up I tried to schedule an appointment and planned to bring my own products when I realized that I was blocked from booking. I reached out to the salon and this is what the owner responded to me. Telling me that I'm the blame, saying that I expect my nails to last a month, when my complaint was about my nails not lasting even 24 hours. She is now refusing me as a client and acting as if I have gotten aggressive with her and is threatening legal action. I have also had a friend tell me she had the same experience, they told her they would refund her. Never did, and my friend had to call her bank to get her money back. Over $200 for a manicure that did not last 48 hours. Unacceptable. I will attach screenshots of my conversation with the owner. Also, not registered with BBB.
