Oh thank God. A lovely little sandwich and gourmet shop in downtown Reading - so needed! I just went here for lunch with a few friends from work, and we were all thrilled with our food. We ended up with the following items: a meatball sub, a proscuitto sandwich, eggplant parm sandwich, caprese sandwich, cubano, and a few smoothies. The to-go dinners also looked so good (and were so reasonably priced!) that a few of us bought them to take home to our families for tonight's dinner. Aside from just being adorable inside, the staff is friendly and the food is top-notch. The fresh mozz was abundant and succulent, the pork in the cubano was moist and flavorful, the smoothies were just unreasonably good, and the bread on all the sandwiches was alone worth the visit. There is limited seating - 4 or 5 stools at a counter looking out on to the street. In the summer I expect to walk down here, get a sandwich, and go eat it in at a park or a bench in the town center. In the winter, the counter or take-out will suffice. Don't miss the cranberry white chocolate chip cookies. Oh, and the honey cake. Oh, and the fresh pasta. My son and daughter-in-law live in reading and used Professor's Market to cater their daughter's first birthday party. Everything from the cold cuts to fruit cup was terrific! This just might be my new favorite spot in Reading. I live in the area but have only just heard about this place and decided to give it a try after reading several great reviews. I ordered a Caprese sandwich on a baguette and the Green Goddess juice online. When I got there, I decided to take a look at some of the prepared foods and other things they had to offer. I found a "power salad" with quinoa, corn, black beans, and sweet potato and when I got up to the register, my online order was all ready for me as well. As expected, everything was phenomenal and great quality. Will definitely be back in the future, especially to try their breakfast sandwiches and coffee. read more

I've ordered from Professor's Market two times. I live in another state and wanted to send a care package to family members for two different occasions. Both occasions due to the fact that in both instances the families had no time to cook due to circumstances/events in their lives. I have to say it was extremely easy to order on line and in both instances the orders were placed the day before for delivery the following day. I ordered breakfast sandwiches with coffee along with lunch sandwiches / dessert for later on. The recipients were so pleased with the food and everything came exactly on time. They loved the waffle fries but thoroughly enjoyed the gourmet sandwiches as well. To me, this was much better than sending flowers, cost about the same and both families got two meals out of it at a time when they needed it the most. The communication through email that I received from Professor's ensured and confirmed to me that everything was being prepared efficiently. Highly recommend!! read more

Stopped by for a late lunch and got a grilled chicken sandwich and rosemary parmesan waffle fries - it was delicious! They might want to think about lightening up on the parmesan on the fries since they're already salty with the seasoned salt, but we still gobbled them up while they were nice and hot. The sandwich was really nice on a baguette baked in house and fresh ingredients. The rest of the deli had other awesome items like fresh pasta and some amazing looking desserts, I can't wait to go back! read more

This is my first time in Reading, and what a sweet little introduction this café makes! The service was prompt and pleasant. They offer soy and almond milk for non-dairy options. Been here about 15-20 times since they opened, and have ordered several things off the menu, as well as some of prepared foods. They always crush it. Just had the Japanese pork buns for dinner tonight, and they were heavenly. Meatballs, stuffed peppers, house rice with beef, honey cake, Mambo Italiano, chicken/eggplant parm...all standouts. Breakfast sandwiches are good too. The ONE thing I did not like was their chicken salad (way too much mayo). That was the first thing I ever ordered here, so I'm glad I gave it a second chance. I stopped into Professor's Market for a juice but walked out with five things! Everything was very fresh and tasty. The homemade hummus was outstanding! I can't eat any other hummus after trying this. The owner was super friendly and let me sample many things- hence why I walked out with way more than just the juice. As someone with celiac disease I really appreciate that Professor's Market offers gluten-free bread. The parking on Main Street was easy and the owner told me there is more designated parking on Green Street, which is super convenient. I left this place an hour ago and have already told many people about it! I will be back for sure! read more

Great selection of lunch time meals and snacks. The smoothies are expensive at $6.50-$7 but very good. All fresh ingredients (not frozen) and prepared in front of you which is nice. Also in a very nice but busy part of town with parking available on the street. I say go for the paninis or homemade desserts, they looked delicious. read more

Wife and I have been going to Professor's Market since it opened, at least 2 times a week and we love it! Great juice and smoothie bar. Baked goods are insane.....once you see them you know exactly what I'm talking about. We've had a good amount of the lunch menu and everything so far has been A+! Also the fresh made take home dinners, awesome variety, are perfect. Lastly, a great selection and variety of Italian and Spanish imported products. Ive heard that its the owned by the Calareso family, who also operate a great farm stand / fresh grocery / plant and garden shop, so its no surprise that Professor's Market is great place. Great place! I had a delicious sandwich at my first visit about a week ago, and was helped by a very friendly employee. Today I brought my daughter for lunch, and we were disappointed with the service and the man (?owner) that took our order. I think it is important to greet a customer with a smile, especially as a new business in town. A co-worker of mine also placed a lunch order, and she gave me the same feedback! It wasn't too busy, he just looked like he didn't want to be there. I love the menu, and the food is fabulous, but they could definitely improve on customer service and make it a more friendly place to visit. read more

This is wonderful little market. Reading is lucky to have it! I tried a bunch of foods to take home. Everything was really good and I'm an extremely picky cook & shopper. Here's what I got: Beet salad, potato salad (just like my homemade), power slaw (mmm), Korean carrots (I added fresh chopped hot peppers to it at home for a kick). I brought home heat & eat lasagna & chicken parm which I don't eat but my family loved. The lasagna was made with the real, high quality ricotta. I also bought a pint of red sauce which was excellent (I'm an Italian cook, most red sauces don't get my ok). The hummus was delish. I could live on the prepared power salad I had for lunch (with enough left over for another meal). Lastly, I bought marinated Korean pork tips to grill at home and they were fabulous. (This may be a super hidden gem just due to it's small offering of Korean foods.) I noticed a ton of gluten free foods being offered too. I highly recommend. read more
