Came here for an early dinner with my Mom, Dad and husband. We had to wait 30 min for a table to open as the city seemed to be really busy on a Sunday which was weird. I wasn't feeling the best this day so I didn't pay too much attention to anything but it seemed as though everyone enjoyed their food. We started with the giant pretzel and beer cheese; very good. I order the app Mac and cheese with steak. It was so good and honestly a really large portion for being just an app. I couldn't even imagine having that first, and then ordering a regular meal on top of that. Our waitress was very attentive. Originally came in to eat dinner because PK came highly recommended for its burgers. We came and got some quick drinks and light appetizers before making our dinner decision. The German pretzel was delicious and the dipping sauces were a beer cheese and whole grain mustard. The pretzel was definitely worth the $12 as it is very large. We also ordered a beer cheese soup not realizing it was the same as the dipping sauce. Both were filling and drink prices weren't bad. I do have to say we did wait a very long time after being seated to have anyone come over to ask for drinks or food. Then once placing our drink and appetizer order it seemed to be at least 30 minutes if not more. So we opted to not eat dinner. I went with my wife and 3 friends. We waited about 35 minutes for a table on a Monday around 630P. There were plenty of open tables so I guess they didn't have enough staff there. I got the short rib grilled cheese. It was good but nothing special. I feel like a codger when I say this but $18 for a grilled cheese sandwich seems excessive. Day three in Saint Augustine, and I really wasn't thrilled about any of the places we had lunch or dinner. I looked at the menu on the window and there were chicken fingers, one of the major food groups for the five-year-old and in we went for lunch. This place is fantastic. I love the decor, the fact that they have menus that are newspapers and you can keep them. I wish we had one of these near us because there were so many things on the menu I wanted to taste. We split the lobster mac & cheese, which was out of this world and a French dip which was on a different bun than usual, so not sure how I felt about it, but it was still good. The fries were nice and crispy. The drinks were brought over immediately and the waiter was very attentive and made sure to come back and see if we needed anything else. This is such a fun spot for a night out! We came on a Saturday and caught a band while we were eating and then hung out to hear the next one. The service was helpful and friendly. Our server was clearly hustling and while the wait was long, the food was hot and fresh and our drinks were strong and tasty! We had the fish special, Tangerine Dream drink, and a St Augustine rum and Diet Coke. The prices are reasonable considering the food quality and atmosphere. I loved the decor and theme and the crowd was lively and fun and a mix of ages. The band Chillula was awesome and not cookie cutter covers. I would definitely return on subsequent trips. read more

I love, Love, LOVE Prohibition Kitchen! I have visited at least 20 times over the years and never make a trip to St. Augustine without lunch or dinner here. So many others have captured the essence of Prohibition Kitchen, so I do not have a lot to add that has not already been said. The large, two storied room (main floor and overlooking balcony) has an industrial, early 20th century feel, much as the name would suggest. It is a huge space but one in which it is easy to relax. There can be a long wait but is well worth it. On my most recent visit, I enjoyed a veggie burger with mushrooms and Swiss Cheese. Definitely one of the better veggie burgers I have had (and I have had many!). Served with Fries, the Veggie burger was more than enough food to fuel my afternoon! read more

Prohibition Kitchen was on our "one of the places to eat at" list while visiting St Augustine for a weekend. It's located in historic St George Street. It's got that dark 1920's/ speakeasy vibe but with live music and rowdy people. We went on a busy Saturday afternoon. To our surprise, we were seated right away. Our waiter was super helpful.. he went over the menus with us since it was our first time there and let us know all of their popular items. We decided to start with the PK poutine. It was fries topped with smoked cheddar mornay, pork belly, sour cream and chives. It was really good but very filling. As we were eating our appetizer, we saw another waiter bringing out a ginormous German Style Pretzel to a different table that caught our attention. It was served on a hook! Looked like something fun to eat.. wished we could've gotten that instead. Oh well next time ! Though the poutine was tasty, it was a lot for the two of us. We almost called it quits before our main entree came out. Thank goodness we decided to share our main dish with each other which was the short rib grilled cheese. The sandwich was super tasty --- it came with braised short rib, sofrito seasoned tomatoes, onions and bell peppers smothered with garlic aioli on a toasted sourdough bread. As soon as we walk in, we put our names down for a table, but the hostess said it would be a 30 minute wait... ended up waiting 45 minutes & there were open tables. We sat down & waited again for a server. Took about 20 minutes for the server to even acknowledge our table. It was 9:48, so the server informed us we had about 30 minutes to put in food, as they close at 11pm. We order everything in one go, several drinks & appetizers. Shortly after our food arrived, they turned on the lights & turned off the music. We quickly rushed to eat the food that tasted like TRASH. No seasoning, everything was freezing & tasted old. Halfway through eating the TRASH, the server came over to us for the checks. We had to compromise splitting the checks because he said he "couldn't split it", which is bullshit (I have worked in the service industry for 4+ years & used the same system they did; Toast). Several of us ended up getting double charged for the absolute worst food I have ever eaten. THEN, (I wish the story ended here, but it doesn't), the bouncer/manager walked over and literally HOVERED over our table. We still hadn't finished our drinks or the TRASH food. So, we had to pile drive the TRASH food, to then be escorted out of the restaurant by the bouncer/manager. Absolutely ridiculous. Will never come back here & you shouldn't either. read more

This is a really nice place in Saint Augustine, live music and great ambiance. Love the fact that their burger menu has a lot of variety and you can build your own as well. Really nice full bar and wine and beer selection. We ordered several burgers but my favorite was the triple mushroom Swiss burger which I got with cheddar and the salad upgrade was just perfect. Now onto them not so great stuff, we visited on a weekday in the low season and the service was really slow. Waited more than 30 mins to be seated and there were plenty of seats available.
