Last Saturday around 6 PM my Son and I went to Prohibition for a meal. The inside was crowded and noisy; so we decided to sit in the outside heated area. The service was prompt and friendly. We both ordered the cheeseburger. My Son had an IPA and I ordered wine. The cheeseburgers were good and the accompanying fries were tasty, but the large amount of horseradish used on the fries in the long run didn't agree with me. My Son enjoyed his IPA, but the 2 glasses of house wine I ordered weren't that great - 1 was chardonnay and the other sauvignon blanc. Also the wine serving was kind of skimpy - measured in a glass. Noisy, crowded places are really not my thing. I prefer a more serene scene; so most likely won't return; but it was an ok 1 time experience. read more

This place is a must go to. They not only have really good food, but great drinks and live music most nights! I would always walk by this place and always seems crowded and lively. You can hear the live music from the outside and we were so pleased when we finally were able to go! We went here for restaurant week, and sometimes I feel like restaurant week is not a good representation of a restaurant, but here the food was so good. I had some of the best salmon I've ever had. My favorite appetizer we tried was the spicy Cesar salad. It was one of those menus were you just want to order every appetizer. I was torn between the salmon and the vegetarian option, pesto gnocchi. I don't think you could go wrong. The staff was lovely, very attentive and personable. We were there on a nice day and sat outside on the patio near the sidewalk, but on a colder or rainy day the inside also has a fun feel to it. We will be back! read more

I can't say enough amazing things about my experience at Prohibition. The staff was incredibly friendly and on-point. Heather was our server, and she was incredible! She consistently checked in on us, kept our drinks filled, and made sure we were having a great time. We also got to meet Ty, one of the managers, who was super friendly and added to the awesome vibe of the night. The food was truly next level. We started the meal with the Cacio e Pepe Mac & Cheese Pops and Tuna Poke Crisps and knew immediately that this was going to be a phenomenal meal. Finding a spot in NYC with live music every night and bands that are actually amazing is almost impossible but somehow Prohibition pulls it off. I was really anxious that night . He suggested I get out the house and get some fresh air, grab a bite to eat or something . So we decided to drive around the neighborhood and see what was in the area . I was reminded of how terrible the service at a neighboring business was and walked in Prohibition with skepticism . We walked in on a night with live music , the gentleman with the guitar already started his set , but that saxophone player got to me, he was jammin ! Very talented indeed - I decided to sit at the bar and I quickly ordered a Manhattan (my go to when I'm having a troubled moment) he ordered his usual Don julio and a splash of juice . My drink was GREAT . Listen, alot of places just DONT KNOW HOW to make a Manhattan or old fashioned . We were delighted with our drinks and decided to order some food . I ordered these tuna poke starters , DELISH! I wanted to order another portion but decided against it . We also ordered some risotto (yummy) and he ordered salmon . He said the salmon was alittle salty but my risotto was divine & I will go back there to order this to go on any day . Our bartenders were friendly and attentive; the music was a vibe and food and drinks were on point ! I can finally give an establishment a 5 star rating in the city ! We went to Prohibition for the first time last night to see a band we like. We made a reservation for 9 so we could eat and have a few drinks before the band went on at 10. We were seated at a high top with a great view of the stage so couldn't be happier there. We started with the cheese steak egg rolls, the tuna poke bites and the bacon dish. All were great. Loved that the egg roll was not greasy and the filling was well seasoned. The poke came on delicious crisps that stayed crunchy until you put them in your mouth. The bacon is a memorable dish, not only is the bacon perfectly cooked, crisp on the outside with just the right chew, but the mustard sauce is the perfect complement, would give the restaurant 5 stars for this dish alone! The drink list has so much to choose from, that we kept ordering different things and were o. Our third round and eating our entrees when the band went on. I had the pork shank which is incredible, crisp skin on the outside with tender meat throughout. The gravy underneath the perfect dip for every bite. I think special mention is warranted about hospitality and the details that the team at Prohibition looks after. David, the manager checked in with us after each round to ensure we were enjoying things. The staff also made sure that the crowd at the bar did not stand in the way of the tables to block our view of the show. If you like live music, good cocktails and good food I can't recommend this place more highly!!! And oh yeah, don't sleep on the chocolate cake either, a sweet end to a great evening! read more

I've been hearing that this place has some good cocktails so I wanted to give it a try. They were closed for a whole during the pandemic but had opened again a few months ago. It's a pretty spacious spot and they do a good job with their uniforms to make it seem like you are eating/dining/drinking during the prohibition era. A few of us had arrived promptly at 4:30 pm, right when they opened. There was no one else in the restaurant. There are a few bar style tables (taller than the average in the restaurant) right when you walk in to the right. We asked the gentleman helping us if we could have the las table by the wall. He responded that he normally has a regular come in that loves to sit there. Okay. We took the middle table then, although he seemed he really wanted us to sit at the table right next to the door. We ordered some bearcat cocktails, along with some small bites. The cocktails were super tasty. The food was good, too. We had some more people joined our party and we began to run out of room at our table. One friend was sitting on the end of the table and this seemed to irk the same gentleman that didn't want us to sit at the last table near the wall. Oh, and it's been almost 2 hours now and his "regular" was not sitting there. Why not let us have the table then? He continuously told my friend that he needs to move his chair out of the way. He kindly responded that he would when people are sat at the tables near us. No one was ever sat at the smaller tables so we didn't move the chair. This guy really looked annoyed now. For what reason? We were eating, drinking and spending money? I wish he would have chilled out more. You could feel his annoyance emanating into the air. Overall this place is good, but perhaps expect to get a glare if you try and pick the "wrong" table to sit at. I do want to give this place another try. Everyone else was very nice. ABSOLUTELY PERFECT FOR A PRIVATE EVENT! We had to switch our daughter's one-year-old birthday party and baby naming ceremony indoors at truly the last minute due to bad weather. Michael, the owner, got back to my email within minutes. From then on, he was responsive, involved, reassuring, helpful, creative...and super funny, too! Kayly was also incredible at every turn (including always checking up on me and bringing me coffee during the event...thanks, Kayly)! Michael was able to help us create a brunch/lunch buffet that pleased both the kids and adults attending. There were also amazing cookies for dessert. Everyone raved about the food. Even more raved about were the drinks...quickly and expertly made by the friendly and involved bartending staff! Along with the bar selection, there was wonderful soda, tea, and coffee, including lattes, which was appreciated! The area looked incredible on its own but with decorations we brought in, it was perfect. There was ample space for all guests to sit and eat, and lots of room for the kids to roam and do the little crafts we set up. The music was on theme and enhanced the vibes. The staff even let us hang around after the event to watch a basketball game with family while the kids kept playing, which was a blast for all and much appreciated. Also, having the stage and microphone set up and ready to go made it so easy to have the baby naming ceremony and speeches so everyone could hear well. We didn't have that for our first daughter's ceremony and it made a huge difference on a special day. Don't hesitate to book an event here. We keep hearing from everyone who came that it was so much fun and so special! The place really made the day easy to plan and the staff's helpful, cheerful, lovely personalities shone through all day long. We hosted my Father's Celebration of Life at Prohibition a few weeks ago, and I cannot speak highly enough about the whole experience. My initial inquiry was responded to within two hours, on a Sunday, and that evening I had a proposal. I worked with Natalie on the details, and there was constant, and almost instant communication. Thoughtful suggestions were made on things that could add to the celebration. Cut to day of, PERFECT! It is hard to say a funeral is fun, but it was, and everyone felt it. Honestly, I was extremely impressed by Prohibition. We ordered a few dishes to share because we were in a large group. I was not disappointed on any level. It has a great welcoming atmosphere that is cozy and inviting but is also very fun. It is great place for a date night or a couple of friend because they offer live music. You can tell they put a lot of thought into the decor and the acoustics. I loved all the drinks! But my favorite was the giggle water and the smash and grab. The food was by far the most impressive. The lamb lollipops was perfectly cooked and I could've ate it all night. The lobster risotto was exceptional and they were all great for sharing so we can taste more off the menu! I really loved the halibut as well because the fish was perfectly cooked and flaky! The live music was wonderful because it was not overwhelming while having dinner and it was great to see a bar still incorporate that feel. I really miss more restaurants offering live music! We reached out to host our wedding after party at Prohibition and David was incredibly responsive and accommodating, despite it being a last-minute plan and a very busy Saturday night in the city. And it turned out to be EXACTLY what we needed -- the live music was an absolute blast for our guests to dance to and went until very late, and the bartenders were friendly and mixed amazing drinks. My friend just moved to the UWS and we were looking for some local restaurant spots near her and found Prohibition. When we got there we were given the option to sit outside or inside and chose inside because of the performers (although the speakers were a bit loud)! I got the Giggle Water which was really pretty and tasty. I got the Atlantic Salmon and she got the Pesto Gnocchi and they were both delicious. We also really enjoyed the Tuna Poke Crisp appetizer - highly recommend! During our meal, we got to see Izzie and Michael Hunter perform live - they were so good! We came on a fun, Saturday night. A live band was playing in the main area while we sat in the back of the bar in their "speakeasy" area. It's not a speakeasy, just a back area where you could talk a little easier without the music blasting. I got the Giggle water which was a refreshing and not too strong (could have been stronger in my opinion). The bar was definitely slated to an older crowd - if you grew up in the late 80s to early 90s, this place is your spot. The live music was a nostalgia trip of indie, rock, and alternative songs. However the music was loud! Even in the back room, it was pretty loud. I had to shout to talk to my friends. Overall, nice place, nice aesthetic, slated towards millennials, but not a great place to have a conversation (music was too loud). read more

If I lived in New York, I would make routine evening visits to Prohibition a staple of my life... Just before Thanksgiving, I had the pleasure of dining with a friend under the care of Prohibition's manager, Dylan, who was very knowledgeable of his offerings. Our server, Emma was delightfully insightful regarding recommendations for food and beverage... I love a good espresso martini, and the Cat's Meow was exactly what I was looking for. We shared the Mac n cheese pops and the salmon was phenomenal for a main course. I only wish I could eat more--good thing I already have a return trip to NYC planned for January! I will definitely return. I follow Prohibition's instagram and I can see that the entertainment that books evenings there provides a great variety and promises to be a vibe for any taste. The ambience refresh is perfect, the cocktails were delicious, the service was on point, and the food was some of the best I have had in the city! La Ultima Palabra, the mescal cocktail, was complex, balanced, and so hard to put down. We started with the Devil's eggs and Bourbon Baby Back Ribs. Damn. I ordered the Sea Bass and my wife the 1/2 chicken (both pictured) holy cow. The sea bass melted in my mouth and the chicken was so perfectly cooked we were mad. Ha! Oh, and there was a fantastic singer songwriter playing guitar and crooning the night away. If you are looking for a great spot for a date night, just drinks, or a fun dinner out alone come here. We ordered the lobster truffle risotto and the prohibition cheeseburger and both were bomb (or bussin' as my kids say). I asked for the Bootlegger Old Fashioned but subbed out the whiskey for reposado tequila and it was great (side note: I love whiskey but it doesn't love me). Prohibition is a must-go, neighborhood gem! We had brunch there last Sunday, and the food is delicious. I loved the Tuna Tartare and the gnocchi. My son loved his Sea Bass. Everything is fresh and delish! The service is great; the staff is friendly and so attentive. The Bloody Marys are spicy and beautifully garnished. They have mocktails, too. The bar scene is lively and the live music is a rare treat these days, especially in this neighborhood. GREAT place! read more
