After visiting Yorkshire I'm starting to believe that every brewery in Torrance is awesome. This was stop #4 on a mini brewery tour I did with some friends & I enjoyed everything about Yorkshire. Solid beer with a great variety, with a large tasting room Lots of seating on the inside, a few TVs, dart board, board games, & a nice size outdoor patio area. Like other breweries they have food trucks that visit on various days. So, my girl and I were out for a Sunday drive and started craving fish and chips. Jumped on Yelp and we see this place. Its local, close to home and had great ratings AND they had fish and chips. We were on our way! Greeted immediately and we were given a table on the side patio. Nice, clean and music playing, very welcoming. Our server, John Carlo introduced himself immediately, best accent ever and very sweet guy. Made some beer recommendations, told us the specials of the day and gave us a few minutes to check out the menu. We both decided on the Fish And Chip, which was their best seller. Took less than 10 minutes to get the food, came out hot and fresh. Fish was flakey and tender, served with a small side of slaw. I'm not a fan of slaw but theirs was really good. As we were finishing up the chef, Lisa comes out to introduce herself and see how we liked the food. This girl has quite the personality. Felt like we were dining with a friend not someone we just met. Just so happens we all hit it off and she shares the same birthday as my girl (month and date) same year as myself. What a coincidence. Between Lisa and John Carlo they made our visit quite memorable, we really enjoyed ourselves immensely. I highly recommend this hiden gem, you won't be disappointed at all. I wish we discovered this place much sooner! I am in love with this place & I can't wait to come back! we stopped by during COVID & all the workers were wearing their masks and keeping their distance when taking orders. There is plenty of cute outdoor seating, perfect for summer nights with a beer. I love that this is kind of tucked away in a corner because it's pretty quiet and calming. We were waiting for seats at Local Kitchen & the wait was about an hour. I am so glad we found this place instead. We ordered the 2 burgers: BBQ Bacon Brew Burger & Stout Onion Cheese Burger. We both agreed the stout onion cheese burger was the best. It was so freaking juicy & packed with flavor. I was using my fries to eat all the onion sauce left over on the plate. We ordered the sticky toffee pudding for dessert & I think they may have forgotten it since it took about 30 mins for it to come out but the employees were so nice that we didn't even care! They don't have a super wide selection of beers but it is pretty diverse. They have stouts, sours, lagers, etc Both the employees & owners were so nice and friendly. This place is absolutely wonderful. We were looking for dog friendly patios to take our new puppy during COVID to help with socialization and find some great beer and this place met all of them. They've taken some great precautions for COVID to keep us feeling safe while we enjoyed their beer and food. The beer is great! We've never had cask ales before, but thoroughly enjoyed them! The food is even better. We had their special, the Picadilly Chicken Sliders which were so amazing that we ordered a second round. Lisa, the chef, came out to ask us what was wrong with them, but really it was just that they were TOO good. She was wonderful and so kind and bright that she and the staff alone will keep us coming back. I really appreciate that they try to achieve zero waste, using potato peels for a special order of fries (they have normal too don't worry), the mash from brewing for dog treats. It's all quite amazing. We also got the Fish and chips which were wonderful as well. I can't recommend it highly enough and it's Piper approved! read more

Currently, they're (safely) celebrating their 3 year anniversary with a special of 2 personal pies (veggie curry and meat) and 2 beers for $30!!! Honestly, it's almost unheard of for me to HAVE to go back immediately to order more stuff, but after I took a nibble of these two pies in the car, blacked out, and saw that the pies were gone... I knew that this couldn't be the last time I had these pies. I had to get MORE of their solid beers as well. A current favorite is Dirty Leeds. Grant it, it would have been lovely to be at the location with the beers and food during their anniversary, but man are we grateful to try this place now! This is a brewery. Don't expect much other than the brewer handling their craft with passion. This place delivered on cold, crafted beer. Seating is appropriately comfortable. Grab a table or go stag at the bar, either way it's not a dark dungeon. The handle pulled stout "Wuthering" is smooth and yet does not bite in bitterness nor stomp your stomach in submission from a weighty thickness. The juicy ipa "Pacificana" also gets high marks and worthy of a callout. Flavor spectrum is broad but not lost. Could be a bit colder for my preference yet good enough to swallow 2, forgetting the temp by the third. Consider this - if - you enjoy craft, but not if you like budget swill and drink for effect and appease your fetish of holding a bottle. read more

I'm conflicted I actually liked this venue. I liked the style, quality, design and the fact that dogs are allowed in... Everyone is nice and friendly.... Southern Fried Vegan seems to serve there on Sundays often so I wanted to try their stuff.... I'm not an expert on beer or ale...and I should've asked to try before ordering the flight of 4 different ones... I think the 4 types I got were: Castle Dangerous (Darkest), Bobby Dazzler (Golden Ale), Yellow School Bus (Cream Ale), and Alpha Papa (English Pale Ale) My beers are rather flat and not cold.....The Yellow School Bus almost tasted like nothing....I was kinda disappointed with that one for sure...the others had more taste to them...I've only been to England once in my life so I can't recall how to compare it to anything.... Now as I see the reviews on the right side as I write this one...It's obvious I now nothing about Ale! So this is more of a personal taste thing versus what is probably good here! read more

Cool and chill brewery in Torrance. Came here for a friend's 40th Birthday celebration. I got there early and got myself a michelada and an order of the pretzels with beer cheese. Found my friends and they had reserved the back table outside and got drink tickets for everyone. They also ordered a few appetizers for the table to share, which included the pretzels, the sausage roll and these blue cheese fries - all really tasty and went well with the beer. The drink tickets were only for beers, no cocktails, so I got the lightest beer that the waiter recommended - don't remember the name but it was refreshing and delicious! I've been coming here for well over a year. It used be called Yorksire Square, then changed owners I believe. I'm so glad they kept the best bartenders like Zac. But I am so disappointed that they changed their food menu. I tired ordering what I usually get, the fish and chips and the drunken pear bread pudding, and I'm told they don't have it anymore! I tried the pretzel with the beer cheese and honestly super salty and the cheese dipping sause was already coagulating when I was served it. Wonderful place! Open super late for all the late night (busy at work) people like myself. Open till midnight on Fridays and Saturdays is super awesome. The beer is on point and fresh. Bottles and growlers to go. The only negative i have is the restaurant snap tin that's located inside the establishment. The vibe i get from the staff is far different than the brewery side Beer tenders are all awesome and knowledgeable but when i asked the servers (who appear to be wearing their restaurant attire to differentiate from brewery and kitchen) clearly aren't up to speed on cask. I ordered a BBQ Bacon Burger which took 22 minutes for them to make. It came with a paltry amount of fries and cost me $13.14. Cask Brewery- know to serve old school beers: the non-CO2 injected kind (albeit they do have the option on the side). The beer is hand pumped straight to the pint, and I love this. What a brilliant place! Cask ale, good friendly service and some great British food items. Wish we lived a little closer or we would be regulars. Wow! My first visit here and it's such a great find! I'm co-founder of Boston's oldest home brewing club, the Wort Processors, ans consider myself a beer snob. Give me a dark and stinky beer and I'm slammin' that down faster than if I had to catch the next bus in 20 seconds. And yep! Got their stout (served "cellar cold" which is at about 55 degrees) and yum! Had their buffalo bites which were just enough for me. My server was Ashley who was super nice, attentive, and efficient! The front row taps at the bar are all CaskAles - pulled from the wooden cask instead of pressurized in the metal keg. First time back at Yorkshire Square Brewery since before the pandemic. I used to go pre-pandemic even though I am not a beer drinker, because they would broadcast the away LA Galaxy matches. So I was limited to their offerings of non-alcoholic beverages (usually a soda or ginger beer) and their only food offerings at the time, which were assorted potato crisps (i.e. what we here in the U.S. call potato chips). Not sure when they started offering food, but I returned to try out their food menu. Had the fish and chips. Good, thick cut, proper "chips", as they should be. And the fish was a pretty big sized fish fillet with the most perfect batter--not too thick and doughy, in fact the fish was visible through some of the batter. it was perfectly crisp and not greasy. The order also came with a slice of lemon for squeezing onto the fish, and small cups of malt vinegar, ketchup and tartar sauce. Probably one of the best servings of fish and chips that I've ever had. My friend ordered the bangers and mash. I tried some of the mashed potatoes, and it was delicious, garlicky, but not too much, just right. The mushy peas were good, too. I didn't try the sausages and gravy, but my friend said the sausages were rather bland and the gravy just okay, but since I did 't taste them myself, I'm only rating what I actually ate. My friend went back to the bar to ask for hot sauce, and like a true Southern CA eatery, the bartender said "We have Tapatio and Cholula." Boom! We also split an arugula salad which was a refreshing side to our otherwise heavy entrees. The salad had orange slices, pickled onions and shaved parmesan cheese which complemented the peppery arugula. It came with a balsamic vinegarette dressing on the side. My (non-alcoholic) beverage of choice was a blood orange San Pellegrino soda. All in all, two thumbs up. Service was friendly and welcoming. The pub looks the same as pre-pandemic except they had to take down all but one of the football (soccer) jerseys due to Covid regulations (cloth decor could carry the virus. So all the Leeds United jerseys are gone, although the bartender said that the owner still opens up the bar sometimes for Leeds United matches, although technically they can't serve alcohol before noon due to local restrictions. Best to call ahead to see if they plan to screen the match. Plenty of seating both outdoors and indoors, and good, funky decor that includes maps of Yorkshire, and cardboard cutout flats of the two Princes (William and Harry) and their partners. Great place to hang out with friends and get a taste of excellent fish and chips. And I hear the beer is good, too! read more

Cool space and interesting concept. All the beers I had were good, but nothing incredible that I'd want to drink all night. Also beers were not very cold; I know this is an odd comment, but I think they do this deliberately to stick with the English theme. So it's worth noting. They had food when I was there, but I didn't get it; looked like pot pies. Overall none of the beers in the flight I had stood out and made me want more. So I couldn't go higher than 3 stars. I used to come here at least once a week for game night with my friends. They have a great patio outside, good English beer, and they used to have food trucks come. Those were the good days. Now years later, after passing through different hands a few times, I've come back to check it out since it's newly owned again. The beer is still English style, which makes me happy. A lot of the decor was left alone, which also makes me happy since the vibe was always so good. The food is the hard part for me. I like having sides when I get a beer, and they only really have entrees, aside from fries. They have a couple of vegetarian options if you're a fan of Impossible meat, but the prices are ~15 per meal. I'll keep coming to check in. Hopefully Yorkshire glows back up! read more

Over the speakers I heard Tribe Called Quest playing and was instantly put in a good mood. The fireplace helped out too. The BEST!! Rented out the space and had my wedding dress rehearsal there when it had first opened. Gary and his crew were so accommodating and were amazing!! Not sure if they have food now, but at the time, they had just opened so didn't have eats, but allowed us to bring our own food and set up before the actual party. For $13.99 without tax and tip, my meal was pretty pathetic. It did come with two very skinny pieces of bacon and a sausage that my husband took before I had a chance to take the picture, as I'm a vegetarian, but even so, I had 2 slices of a tomato, 2 mushrooms, and one spoonful of beans on a piece of fried bread that tasted awful (read: cheap.) My Coffee was served in a takeaway cup (you can't afford a dollar store china cup?) and was so horrible that even after getting the waitress to put more water in it because it was so strong, it was impossible to drink. Hubby's iced tea tasted just like water. His fish was tasteless and the batter was not a proper English batter but dark and sweet. In total it cost over $38 for probably $8 worth of food. Won't be back. Addendum: also forgot to add that you can't get hot tea here, only iced tea (in an English Pub!), and we were the only people in the pub apart from just 1 customer at the bar and we had to go looking for somebody to serve us after sitting there for 15 minutes. And they were blasting out dreadful reggae music for ages, until I couldn't take it anymore and asked the bartender to PLEASE change it (which thankfully he did!) If you just want the large choice of beer they have on tap it's a good place to go. Just not for the food. read more

I used to live in Torrance and loved the atmosphere, food and drinks when this was Yorkshire Square. I happened to be back visiting Torrance this week with a work colleague so decided to give it a try with the new ownership - wow what a difference!!! Hardly any English beers on tap - $12 for a small glass of wine and the food was just disgusting! My colleague described it as dog food - very embarrassing as I'd recommend going there - she had the burger with chili (after they had brought her the hot dog with chili first by mistake!) so 3 glasses of wine and burgers (dog food) in cardboard trays for $95!!!!
