Mad at you all. Mad because I love you so much and I live in Tampa. This is the atmosphere, food and coffee that I seek out when I go into a new coffee shop. Great music being played, big windows letting in tons of light and quality food and drink, hell yeah Project Coffee. I'm not sure how you made that doughnut, or if you didn't where it was brought in from, but I'm going to need 3 dozen of them - ASAP. Absolute crack. Coffee was killer as well. Couldn't be more happy. Went for a latte with honey to get a good understanding of what level we were at as a shop. Now in ready to go back for a flat white, cortado or something. I'm sold. Definitely a smaller place, but people seem to take their items to go. Lots of plants hanging with a total minimalist vibe which I liked. Service was great and my bowl was pretty good. I'd never had a chia yogurt bowl before so it was nice to have something to compare it to in the future. I got a chai latte to drink with my meal but I personally wasn't a big fan. It felt like more milk and ice than chai, so the blend could use some tweaking. Otherwise, nice spot and I'd visit again. read more

We went to their 5th St. location on the morning of New Years Eve and there was a line out of the door. Upon receiving my matcha and my breakfast sandwich, I completely understand the line. Everything was delicious. Our entire group was satisfied with our orders. I ordered a strawberry iced matcha latte and the standby sandwich with the caramelized onions. The matcha was perfect on creaminess and sweetness. It wasn't too sweet and almost reminded me of the nostalgic strawberry nesquik milk. It's served with oat milk and it was tasty. The fluffy eggs with chives on the brioche bun with caramelized onions was the best combination and now it's inspired me to make fluffy eggs with chives on the breakfast sandwiches I make at home. The sauces it came with were also very delicious. Not sure what they were, but I think they both pair perfectly with the sandwich. The ambiance was nice and welcoming with the disco ball and the greenery as well as the indoor and outdoor seating. It was also nice to have two bathrooms rather than one. Visited my hometown again and one of my first stops was this cafe. So apparently they had just recently stopped being all vegan. They used to have an amazing vegan egg and cheese on a biscuit. Now the egg and cheese sandwiches are vegetarian and the only savory vegan option is avocado toast. From having several fun savory sandwich options to just an avocado toast is such a bummer. I also wish for a diner mug instead of a latte cup for drip coffee (cools off faster because the larger surface area and no little top of latte foam). But maybe that's just me. Project is without-a-doubt my go-to coffee shop in SRQ. Both locations, Pineapple st. and Rosemary District, are consistent in their laid-back vibes, inviting baristas, and delicious menu items. Even with each of their items being 100% vegan, everything is absolutely amazing. Their hot drinks and iced coffees are robust and creamy, but my favorite beverage is the ube matcha latte, easily one of the most visually appealing drinks you'll ever find (pictured). When it comes to food, the cinnamon bun is heavenly, and the smash sandwich (exclusive to the Rosemary District location) is flavorful and extremely filling. FYI the Pineapple st. location definitely has seating, but with its much larger size, the Rosemary District location is much more roomy. read more

Absolutely obsessed with this place. The whole aesthetic of the cafe was stunning and so fresh. Very Instagramable decor and vibe. Staff was nice and helpful with ordering. Wish they had menus in line or a QR code outside while you wait in line. Was frustrated that I had to make a choice so fast because they only had menus at cash register and not posted anywhere else to see. Thankfully everything on the menu was so yummy. Was shocked it's all vegan. I am vegetarian and used to vegan meals but this exceeded my expectations. I found this place because it was a couple of blocks from where we had a work conference and had my morning hot Matcha latte. I learned that they were 100% vegan and plant based so also ordered a piece of pumpkin bread to take with me. While it is not pictured, it is tasty. I had such a great time and enjoyed my Matcha that I returned at the end of the day and tried the Ube Matcha. While it was a tad bit sweeter than I would've liked I appreciated the Matcha and Ube combo and would highly recommend you check this out if you happen to find yourself in Sarasota. read more

Review for both locations. Service was amazing. Friendly staff as usual. Ambiance always cool. Coffee quality always great! As a vegan it was our family's favorite coffee, pastry, and breakfast stop. Lowering stars to get management's attention. We are deeply sad that the recipes have been altered. We would drive here once a week and live about 35 minutes away. The passion fruit chia pudding has been changed and no longer good. I ordered a pastry and was excited to eat, a few minutes in my stomach started to hurt. It had eggs and dairy. We need og, project coffee back. I feel menu items have been altered to lower quality and cost. Not happy, and unfortunately won't be coming as often anymore. It doesn't taste very thought out like it did before. Side note - You guys have quality matcha without added sugar. Putting it into a plastic ketchup bottle to squirt out takes away the quality and intentionality of the beverage. I know y'all are really busy but would be willing to pay a little extra for the time to make it on the spot with wood. Easily best coffee in Sarasota area. I'm extremely picky when it comes to coffee. Their ratios are great, house made syrups, espresso comes through nicely in the latte. Would definitely go back! I've been coming to Project Coffee for years and always loved how easy it was to find great vegan options. I want to be clear that I do not mind them adding non vegan items to the menu. What was frustrating was how this change was handled. I found out while ordering that most of the vegan options, especially savory ones, are gone. There was no communication ahead of time, nothing on the menu or website, so it came as a surprise in the moment. If they had kept the ability to make items vegan like before, this would not have been an issue at all. Instead, it feels like a major shift that longtime customers were not prepared for. My partner and his kids are vegan and have been going to Project since they opened. It was a comfort spot. The food was fully vegan and beautifully presented and delicious. What a rare gem for them! We were in a hurry yesterday and ordered a burrito to-go. His kid ending up eating half of the burrito - noticing it was slightly different but just confused - before figuring out that it wasn't vegan anymore. The name of the item is the same. Project did nothing to alert vegans that their items are no longer vegan. So their consistent vegan (or dairy/egg allergic) customers are being blindsided by the change. The switch was handled without any care for their existing client base. It was irresponsible and unethical, trying to make their switch as quietly as possible. 100% vegan. 100% delicious. of course i found project coffee on the last day of our trip. if id known this gem existed sooner, i would have been there daily. it doesn't seem to be well advertised that project coffee is all vegan - maybe as to not scare off the non-vegans. but if you look at the tiny print at the bottom of the menu, you can see the glorious "100% vegan"text. i recommend the cheesy egg biscuit with a side of the spicy maple syrup. it comes with sriracha but i hijacked my partner's syrup and it added another dimension to the sandwich. the sweetness of the syrup paired perfectly with the buttery flakey biscuit and the cheesy chive filled eggs. the tropical chia bowl was a refreshing way to end our meal. the coconut drizzle on top was the star of the show. i'd order extra drizzle it was seriously so good. i was also amazed at all the pasty options and how delicious/beautiful they looked. i had a hard time choosing so I got 3 of them. 2 of which i carried around the airport all day. i'm not a fan of lemon desserts but the stuffed lemon sugar cookie was the best - the cookie was soft and buttery and the buttercream melted in my mouth. the matcha pistachio cube cake and the carrot cake mini loaf had a rough trip home but they were still delicious. cute vibe, nice staff, i wish we would have found project coffee sooner. read more

Project has been my go to for years. As a vegetarian with a dairy ALLERGY I loved having so many options and being able to order anything on the menu. Every single item used to be plant based. I was blindsided the other day when I went in and realized the menu mentioned egg instead of the egg substitute they have always historically used. (Which is fine to have as an option as desired.) I asked to confirm the egg had no dairy in it and was told it was a pre-scrambled mixture with heavy cream and the eggs could not be made without it. So not only did they get rid of the vegan option- they added an option which could not even be modified for a dairy allergy. I asked if there was a way to just make one egg and was told no. It it's totally fair to offer scrambled eggs with dairy, but I really wish they kept the option to substitute with the vegan option or at least have it made dairy-free. The biggest problem is that Project for years has promoted being dairy free. This change came with no announcement. It is irresponsible to do that to a steady customer base who has been relying on the integrity of their ingredients for years. I know many people who ordered their "regulars" without knowing it would have dairy in it. Utterly disappointing. Menu changes and evolution are natural, but the approach here was irresponsible and unacceptable. Going from a fully vegan establishment to a mostly non-vegan one should warrant some notice. read more

Visited a handful of times the past 8 months whenever I'm in the area for work and it's a really nice and bright place to work or catch up with a friend. The big windows are what draws me to this place when I'm trying to focus or just want to stare into space lol. Now the coffee. From the outside (maybe this has changed) it does not look like a coffee shop unless you looked it up or awkwardly stared into the windows. When you enter, the menus aren't posted anywhere but there are booklets of them near the register. Almost every-time I've entered here, I've gotten pretty meh customer service. There is one employee there with curly hair who is always friendly and welcomes with a smile, but in my experience, the rest of the staff seem a bit cold but not rude. The vibe also feels a bit snooty. One thing I wish they made clear is that they don't have any other milk options besides oat. It's not really advertised and you only find out when you order. Other than that they have great matcha! I've had their avocado toasts and it was just okay. read more

FOOD GOT WORSE COFFEE GOT BETTER My girlfriend and I have been coming for three years, and we were very disappointed to find the food menu changed. Notably, the chia bowl and the burrito are not as good as before. The burrito went from fresh tasting with delicious greens, to Taco Bell crunch wrap. Staff here is not friendly can't even call out the drink or name just looks at you and expects you to take it, I ordered an americano somthing you can't mess up and the shot make out super sour. And on top of all of that they don't use real shot cups they use milk tins. read more
