Wonderful time the food service and ambiance was fantastic! If I lived closer I'd come weekly.

i must say I truly enjoyed our visit here. We came in for dinner and a couple beers after visiting a couple breweries in the area. The building is very cool, the staff was super friendly and incredibly accommodating. I am currently on crutches and it was a beautiful day, the waitress found us a nice corner table on the patio where I could sit back and not worry about tripping someone We ordered the duck fat fries, and the charcuterie board as an appetizer...both wonderful. I ordered the soft shell crab tacos and I was in heaven! The had a great tap list as well, and the food was extremely reasonable for both the quality and quantity we received. I am from Northern NJ and I would definitely make the drive just to have dinner here again. Well done! read more

The absolute best casual restaurant in Somerville! The cocktails are amazing, the beer selection is plentiful, and the food is tasty and perfect for sharing. Max is an amazing, attentive, and friendly bartender. Definitely a go-to spot for a quick happy hour or a dinner that is casual but also leveled up a bit. Drink menus change with the season, so you just need to keep going back! Oh...and Sunday brunch is a must.... Love the local options and variety on their beer list. You can get a flight of five if you are having trouble choosing one. What a cool and interesting concept where the restaurant hosts different breweries to rotate every month. We were excited to finally make some time to visit on a Wednesday night for dinner and drinks with some friends. We parked in the paid meter spots behind the building of the restaurant (the pay station was a bit hard to find though as it is tucked away!). Parking was limited for a Wednesday but we lucked out as someone happened to be pulling out. We were pleasantly surprised by the experience overall. These are the foods we tried: Beer Flight: Select 5 beers to choose from with nice healthy pours (some beers are extra, larger pours for extra as well). When the flight is delivered to your table, the glasses come hanging in a hook stand and are placed in front of you and the stand is taken away. I though this was fun and different from other places as there is usually some sort of tray underneath left behind. There is a paper given to you to remind you of which beers you selected (since not all restaurants do this, I appreciated getting the reminder). I also ordered a glass of malbec which was tasty as well! Many of the beers were hoppy/IPAs but I did find one that I liked very much, the Galacto, and ordered another full glass. Duck Fat Fries: These were SOOOOO delicious. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside; these are my kind of fries. We actually ordered a second round of these at the end of the meal. For $7 a pop I do wish the portion size was a bit bigger. House Chips: Definitely taste house made and fresh. I wouldn't necessarily say that these were anything other than just chips. For $4 its a nice small snack if you are just enjoying a beer and want something to nosh on (see my pics for portion size). Meatballs: These were tasty. I can't remember what exactly they are made with but the waiter mentioned something about bacon making them amazing. I was a bit surprised because the meatballs were a bit pink in the middle. Not sure if it was due to a sauce or seasoning added but regardless, they were moist and tasted good. Pork Belly Beer Mac & Cheese served with Kale: The mac and cheese itself was delicious. We opted to pay the extra $$ for the pork belly but unfortunately the pork belly on this dish was a bit dry. This was weird because the pork belly and polenta was AMAZING. Next time, I would just order the mac and cheese and leave out the pork belly. Pork Belly & Polenta: This was the STAR of the show for me. WOW. The pork belly was crispy and fatty at the same time. The right parts melted in my mouth just right. The polenta is actually polenta CAKES. I tend to prefer creamy polenta without being baked and cut into pieces but, despite this, it worked on this dish. Charcuterie Board: This was probably my 2nd favorite dish of the savories. The price tag seemed steep but when the platter arrived I was satisfied with the selection and quantity that arrived. You get cheeses, meats, fruits, picked things, nuts, etc. I don't think the menu read that there were nuts and my husband has a slight nut allergy. It wasn't a big deal because he was able to eat around it. Beer infused ice creams: these were DELICIOUS. I really enjoyed the fact that they were able to do a sweet application with the beers that they were currently serving. The cookie that we added extra $$ for was disappointing. I was expecting way more but they were hard....very difficult to even break in half. I would not recommend the cookie. Beer ice cream, however, is a definite yes with a nice portion of three scoops. I'll definitely be coming back to try the rotating beer and food menus again! P.S. I was pleased to notice an accessible chair lift on my way around the building so that you can enter the building from the side rather than from the front steps. read more

Love at first sip! Not too familiar with Jersey, but I really love what I am discovering and Project P.U.B. is a new reason for me embrace what Jersey is putting down in the craft beer and gastropub scene. I went during a Riverhorse takeover and what an awesome day to go. The takeover consisted of new one of kind brews along with seasonals and the tried and true. They also had some really phenomenal pairings! Staff was super friendly and knowledgeable; design, layout and ambience made me feel like I was in DuPont Circle D.C. --- the place transported me to somewhere else, and that's pretty rad. You need to try their grilled Octopus, holy cow! Or rather holy Puss?? Lol --- the hot olives and nuts are superb ---- these guys really put a lot of Attention to detail. On top of it all, the customers / crowd is nice, not douchey or annoying. TWO THUMBS UP!!! read more

I usually come here just for the food. They have stock dishes on their menu such as the poor belly and polenta, which is amazing!! And other dishes that are switched out when the pub changes its beer menu. So far, I've never been disappointed by a food order! As for the beers, they can be a hit or miss. If you don't come early enough when the beers are tapped, you run out of options as the beer sells out fast. The bar room is big enough to hang out but the bar service can be slow sometimes. The indoor dining area is spacious but not for large groups. (Unless you can manage to score the big table in the middle) and the outdoor dining is peaceful on a nice night. read more

A good place to take friends if you want them to think you're cool, without having to leave the comforts and proximity of central jersey. Its a solid vibe, not casual but not quite upscale either, somewhere between brewery and speakeasy (although I realize that's quite a range)... especially with it residing in a residential looking home. Its a great concept - rotating crafts beers & menu selections - although I'm glad some of the favorites like duck fat fries and mac & cheese you can get anytime. At our last visit, they were featuring Carton from Atlantic Highlands. We found our drinks - Boat Beer and the "I-dont-usually-like-stouts-but-I-love-this-one" - and enjoyed them & each other's company for the night. read more

I wasn't quite sure what to expect here. From the description I read, i thought that this was a temporary venue that changes locations every few months... I was a little bit off - the venue remains the same but the featured brewery (and the food that corresponds to the featured beers) changes from time to time. The restaurant is in an old house that has a wonderful porch to eat outdoors - or several inside rooms, all of which were warm and inviting. The nice thing about having a featured brewery is that the beers they serve go deeper than what you'd find at most restaurants. I guess the best way to think of it is like a tap takeover - that instead of just lasting for a single night, lasts for a full month. Instead of doing entrees, we opted for the meat, cheese, and fruit platter which initially I was worried wouldn't be enough for two people, but turned out to be a little more than either of us could eat. I went for brunch and the food was amazing. They do something I've never seen before. Every month they pick a micro brewery and feature all their beers and pair a separate menu around it. They have the regular menu too. The bar's decor is really nice and the atmosphere is friendly and the bartenders are great especially Max. I didn't get a chance to look around the restaurant but the menu looked really good. Our brunch food was amazing. I read a lot about the bartenders being judgy boy were they right. Wish i listened. Ended up buying two flights i asked for the light flight the bartender literally rolled her eyes at me. Way to be obvious. Just rude I think her name was Jess or Sam. Later in the night me and my boyfriend were kissing off on the side. Out of the way in the corner away from everyone. I looked around and no one was paying us any attention. The bartender told me we should take it down a notch that "people were complaining" you've got to be kidding me. I was so awe struck that she actually said that to me that i approached a couple who was in the middle of the bar. I asked if we were bothering them. She told me she was people watching in the bar and she didn't even notice us. Point made. Life is short if i want to kiss my boyfriend I'm going to. There's so much other bad stuff going on in the world get over it. We're not offending anyone. So I don't even know where the bartender got this bs from but i will NEVER return to this bar. I will even tell my friends and family to stay away unless they want to be judged. Today was my first day off in weeks. I work in a Hospital saving lives. If i wanted to spend my one day off feeling like a piece of shit in the future I'll remember to come back here. Otherwise I'll take my hard earned generous money elsewhere. Would recommend to visit during the 1st week of the month. Pros: Staff & bartenders are polite & attentive. Parking in the rear, outdoor dining area, clean bathrooms. Cons. Certain Beers are not always in stock. Some of the IPA's i tasted were flat & warm. I came here one night for some drinks on a Saturday. They had a few people outside and some more people around the bar. The place we pretty nice inside and I think they had a movie going in the seating area. They had a NJ tap take over and had a decent selection of beers. The bar tender was nice and we got drinks pretty quickly. The prices weren't that bad and I think overall if I was in the area or local I would come here a lot more. read more

I checked out this restaurant with some friends a few weekends ago. The atmosphere was quaint and warm. The bar is big. We sat in a booth that was set into the wall and had a cozy feel. They had an extensive beer list, and I like that they rotate the local beers based on the season. I ordered the Super Food and Ancient Grains Salad. It was pretty good, but the name makes it sound much fancier than it is. My friends ordered a flatbread and sandwich which they both enjoyed. It was a little pricey. I have been to Project P.U.B. a couple of times now, and I love this place. It has such a cool vibe and no crowd which is appealing to me. I went this Sunday for the first time to try their brunch and was thrilled! Couple of suggestions I would make is to add your brunch menu to your website/Facebook, we went sure what to expect. This place would be perfect on a Sunday to eat good food, drink great beer and watch football, however, the one thing they are missing is TVs. However, the no TV thing could be on purpose. This has to have been one of the most pleasant Somerset County outings, in 6 years. The staff was unusually pleasant, though not totally well informed at first pass; they fixed that quickly, so who cares? Yes, so the variety of food specials was overwhelming. The staff even had to check that they knew (as mentioned, so glad they did so). While there was a suggestion of pairing the food to the 'beers' of the month -- hey, just too many choices. I can't even remember the sampled beers, which doesn't matter, since they change many, monthly. So, to the point. You MUST try one of the charcuterie plates. At first glance, a little small looking. But. C'mon it is supposed to be the appetizer. And, it is a unique sample taste, that leaves you ready for the good meal. The meals we had; a plate of Pork Belly, prepared in some special way, and a chimichhuri style steak. Hard to choose, so we shared, with the assistance of the extremely helpful staff. The side dishes? Don't remember, but believe me, they fit well. I said, best County Night in years? Too full to try any dessert (we ran through a few special cocktails, and beers -- did I mention attentive staff enough? ) This whole time was with my well travelled brother. This place is a nice addition to Somerville. It's trendy but casual. I met a few friends for drinks and we tried a few appetizers. We particularly enjoyed the deviled eggs and homemade chips. Excellent new restaurant worth a try and a new favorite in Somerville. Why? Two reasons to start. First, the owner has a proven winner with Tapastry which is the lower level and the ambience of the Project PUBS Is a completely different experience which builds on Tapastry's rep for craft beer and interesting small plates. PUBS is in a beautiful setting in an old two story mansion that's been completely refurbished from the inside out and is both lovely and rustic at the same time with exposed brick walls, wood and fireplace. A perfect setting for rotating craft beers and creative artisanal cocktails. We started with a bourbon based mix with orange peel that was quite good. For starters we enjoyed warm nuts with baked olives, kimchee, devils eggs, Korean bulgogi steak and beer mac and cheese. I was a little skeptical about the kimchee, but it was fresh fermented and had a great kick. Very enjoyable. The side rice noodles were a little too delicate and could do better. Also enjoyed the bulgogi; even better with the fried egg which I recommend as an add. Warming the olives is a nice touch and atypical; brought out the flavor which complimented the beer flight we ordered. I was looking forward to the mac and cheese, but it had a distinctly sour and bitter taste and was disappointing. In addition to the starters, we ordered superfood salad which was my favorite dish. The salad featured an excellent pomegranate vinaigrette and the kale was mixed with farro, almonds, broccoli and quinoa. My friend ordered the duck breast over risotto which was perfectly prepared and throughly enjoyed. Speaking of beer, all of the food selections go very well as intended and a must try given that a key feature is the restaurant is a rotating brewery selection. The rotating brewery on our visit was Founders. Most enjoyed the All Day IPA. Flavorful, hop forward with a good bite, but only 4.5% ABV. Second choice was the Bastard scotch ale. Interesting butterscotch and chocolate notes. Do not recommend the raspberry nitro or wizard of Koz unless you like your beer to taste like dessert. Service was good and helpful with menu selections, but not very knowledgeable about the cocktails. Overall an excellent experience and will be back. read more

Newest restaurant to hit the downtown Somerville area and one with a unique twist: every month craft beer from a single brewery. I look at Yelp every now again to see if there any new restaurants worth checking out. Based on a good look at Facebook and knowing that the owner was the same as Tapastre, I had to come check it out. The decor is really charming. You can tell the owners took great thought in the design of the space. It's spacious without feeling like you're crowded and I loved all the light fixtures in the place. Feb was Founder's Brewery and my dining companion and I were eager to try the beers and the food. We decided to order a bunch of small plates so we could try everything. The beers were delicious of course so my review will be on the dishes we tried: BOCADILLO - these were mini proscuitto sandwiches and they were absolutely delightful. AHI TUNA CRUDO - the tuna was super fresh and incredible delicious. DUCK FAT FRIES - I can never say no to duck fat anything and these did not disappoint. I saw many tables order these as well. MAC N CHEESE - this was a bit of a let down. the Mac n cheese wasn't seasoned enough so it tasted a little bland. The season vegetable was a broccoli rabe and it was almost too bitter to be a good compliment to the dish. THICK-CUT ROASTED PORK BELLY - who would thought polenta would take this good with pork belly? So so good. BULGOLGI - we asked for an egg (because why not) and I think should could be been better. All the ingredients were laid out individually on the plate, even the egg. Taste wise it was fine but presentation could have been a little better. Perhaps the egg over the bulgogi in a bowl style? All in all a delicious meal and we can't wait to see what other breweries decide to "pop up." read more

I really am surprised Project P.U.B doesn't have more reviews!! The whole concept of Project P.U.B is so unique and fun - more people need to come here and review! For the month of April they're featuring Flying Dog. Though I can't say I was too much of a fan of their beers, it's awesome to be able to come here and try something new. Again my boyfriend and I went with sharing numerous small plates: ahi tuna crudo which was fresh and light, the roasted bone marrow which was out of this world (a must have!), the brewers charcuterie board as well as the pickled beets. Project P.U.B has the best charcuterie board in this area (probably also the only place to get one) and it's easy to see they put a lot of effort into their boards and want people to enjoy them. My only wish was that they included a soft cheese as all three were either hard or semi hard. I've never had bone marrow before but I really enjoyed it! Huge bone, too! I already know I'll be back in May, I just hope for a lighter beer on their menu and a soft cheese on my charcuterie board! This is my hands down favorite place to go for food and drinks. I honestly cannot understand how anyone rated this place poorly. The food here is top notch, high quality ingredients and unique offerings. Its always delicious and fantastic. They have great craft beer options and fun cocktails. all cocktails seem to be made with fresh ingredients instead of mixers so it's always fantastic and the prices are good too for what you get. We are basically regulars because we love this place so much. Oh and P.S if you haven't had the duck fat fries you are seriously missing out!! read more
