Curt arrives next day to do the ROUTINE toilet flange replacement. Curt completes the job in 45 minuets. Great. I meet Curt at his truck to pay, I have $20 in my hand for a tip. Curt hands me a bill for $780. Curt labeled the flange replacement a "custom job." It was not custom by any definition. I don't know if I was charged for the day before when Tanner could not do the work. The bill stated "custom job $780.00 plus tax. No breakdown for parts and labor. Parts were 1 pvc toilet flange, 1 pvc 3 inch 90, 1 3 inch pvc union and approximately 2 feet of 3 inch pvc pipe. I will guess on the heavy side for parts at $75. So labor was $705 for the 45 minuets of work. Neurosurgeons in Washington state average $378 an hour. I called Curt the next day. Not much to be said about the bill. Get the estimate, get the second opinion! I'm an idiot. I kept the $20.
