I wanted to try Proof No. 5 since the buzz surrounding their opening. I was fortunate to get to celebrate my birthday here with my wife. The decor is very appealing. Moody colors on the wall provide a backdrop accented by modern art and brilliant accents. The service was attentive. The server provided us with complimentary birthday prosecco, which I thought was better than a dessert with a sparkler. We had bison meatballs as an appetizer and the ribeye for two. Both were excellent, but I could not stop raving about the meatballs. They were placed on a perfectly cooked polenta and dressed with a well-seasoned pomodoro sauce. The interior is beautiful and modern and very clean! We had to use the outdoor voice because this place was zooming with life on a Saturday night. The food is Wow, wow, wow! Duck Pierogi As a female of Ukrainian heritage who makes these wonder filled dumplings since the age of 6. I know a thing or two about Pierogi. I do not order them at the restaurants But the filling caught my curiosity and I'm so glad we ordered them! The dough was perfect, thin and flavorful and the amount of duck meat was right. They were served with a white sauce which I think had some ricotta and sour cream with a hint of lemon. Additionally some shaved ginger. This is my guess. The sauce complimented the dish. It had a perfect balance of flavors. Bison Meatballs Perfect in every way, plump, soft, juicy, perfectly round served on a bed of polenta. This could easily be my dinner. Curried Fried Rice This dish would be perfect for a vegetarian. It is on a spicier side but flavorful and super filling. I ordered it with mushrooms (yum!) next time I'll ask for extra mushrooms on a side and add them on top of my duck filled pierogis. The golden cubes of tofu served with rice were extremely satisfying! Drink I'm so glad I made a '" lady in a purple dress" my choice. Perfect balance of sweetness and bitterness. Service Our server Erin was attentive, very pleasant, made us feel welcome and was just a delight! She was patient, made eye contact, described the specifics of the food and checked on us frequently What a great work ethic!. On a scale from 1-10. Erin is a 10. She was definitely a huge reason why this experience was outstanding. Lastly. We had some food left over. It was taken into the kitchen and labeled for us. I also ordered a take out ( another pierogi and meatballs for my brother to try). and everything was delivered to our table at the same time in one bag. That's attention to detail. I noted it as a very thought through process. We came here on friend's suggestion after seeking the holiday display at Morton Arboretum. Food was excellent, service was good! We had a friend's Holiday Dinner at this restaurant and I can report that the food is better than the service, although they do the best they can. Our party had a 7:30 PM reservation and we were seated just a few minutes late but totally understandable on a Friday night during the holidays. The bar has an excellent selection of interesting cocktails but was constantly backed up because it was slightly understaffed. Tried the Brazilian Old Fashioned- excellent! Others in out group tried the Japanese old fashioned and the original- again reports back that the drinks were really good. I had the smash burger- everything about it was excellent. Others had the chicken wrap, and lobster roll and again reports back were excellent. Really, the food quality of this place is a cut above most places. The service is where they have challenges but only because of staffing issues. And I can report that the servers and bartenders are moving as fast as they can do be accommodating. Another note- we had a group of 9, and the table we were sat at was really only for 8, making the dinner experience a tad bit crowded. Also, we were sat near the door and it was a cold night. Anytime the door opened a rush of cold air greeted us (maybe they could do something about this with an outside temporary vestibule or whatever. Like everyone has mentioned the restaurant has the feel of a city place. One of our group thought it was a little loud but honestly I thought it was fine. We started with a couple of cocktails and the guys ordered their bourbon. They have some fab drinks! Unsurprisingly they didn't have all the bourbons on the menu but our server was aware of new bourbons in and not on the menu. That kept them happy. As for the food it was excellent. The tuna crudo looked like jewels on the plate and was delicious. We also shared the chicken shawarma skewer and beet salad. Very tasty. Main courses were shrimp pasta which she thought was salty. The grouper was amazing and I had the lamb shank. Because we read other reviews we ordered their chili crisp fries OMG as stuffed as I was I couldn't stop eating them and I am not a fries person. They are ridiculous! We shared the sorbet and the salted caramel creme brûlée. Superb. Service and foot was spot on. Honestly I thought it was worth every penny. Great local spot in the suburbs. I was eager to try the food- I ordered the soup (bacon potato) and it was luke warm. Flavors were good though. I also ordered the Lobster Linguine that everyone likes- but it was a small amount of pasta for 42$. I also ordered the NICOISE (GF, DF) salad and it was ok. We were sat right away only to sit for over 15 mins without anyone coming to our table . I kindly told the wait staff that we hadn't been helped . Finally a server came to take our drink order . Took it and rushed away without asking if we wanted a appetizer or anything else . Not a apology for the long wait or anything . We were there for an hour and had only one drink . We finically got up and went across the street to Ditkas to eat . I have never been treated so poorly at a restaurant . Overall a beautiful small boutique restaurant, wonderful to have walking distance from my house! I went for my birthday, I'm usually and STK girlie for special occasions but was very excited to try this new spot. The good: atmosphere, cocktails, and the music was amazing imo, played lots of top notch deep house/chill EDM music (but you sticks in the mud don't worry it was not loud it was at a restaurant level) idk if they always play this kind of background music but music and vibes were A+, based on drinks and atmosphere I'd say this rivals any of my fav chicago go tos! The mediocre: I had a filet and it was a B grade when compared to other places at the same price point, better than Outback (or similar cheap/mid priced chains) but not really worth the cost, it was slightly more than medium rare, but was over seasoned, not enough for me to send it back but a little disappointing nonetheless. They don't claim to be a steak house so it's a perfectly fine steak for a general restaurant, but I don't think I'll spend money on a steak here again. The service was very very slow and my water was never filled without me having to flag the server (who was hard to flag down despite it being a tiny space). The waiter was very nice but not attentive, and restaurants in the price and above I expect at least above average service. The kitchen was clearly disorganized as I had someone else's food sent to my table 2x. When I ordered dessert they brought it out w no spoon (after clearing my other silverware) then after asking for one I had to wait around 10min...then 10 more min after getting my spoon a kitchen staff showed up with another one. Oh and while I told the server I was there for my birthday early in when she asked, it took the whole mean for me to get the complimentary sparking wine she offered. I got it but just before the check. This place is pretty new so the staff is still probably working the kinks out and everyone was very nice. I'll definitely give it another try or two but not with steak. If they work out the kinks in the kitchen and get their servers trained better this suburban spot will truly hold its own against any lux dining establishment in Chicago read more

I went for brunch with some friends. We were seated for 30 minutes before someone came to take our drink orders. It was least another 20 minutes after that before our food order was taken. The restaurant was near empty so no idea why it took so long to get service. I ordered the Avocado Toast and opted to added the smoked salmon to it. When the waiter brought my entree out, I literally laughed when they placed it in front of me. It was a single piece of toast about the size of my palm, topped with a sprinkling of smoked salmon. For $20, I would expect at least 2 pieces of toast not to mention the entree was missing the listed asparagus and pickled shallots. I ended up ordering a side of breakfast potatoes because there was no way that little single piece of toast was going to fill me up. While the potatoes were nicely cooked, they were extremely overly salted and seasoned, making them almost inedible. This was my third time trying the restaurant out and each time service has been extremely slow and the entree overpriced for the quantity of food given. The atmosphere is nice but unless they add more staff and more reasonably price their items, I can't imagine it lasting long. read more

Proof no. 5 was amazing from first bite to last! The restaurant was decorated very tastefully with lots of fun textures. The chairs were comfortable. The staff was excellent, knew their menu items and service was excellent. The drinks were fun and very tasty. We tried the Fois Gras Mousse & the Duck Perogis and both were excellent. For dinner I had the Lobster Linguini. The sauce was delicious and not too heavy and you actually had large chunks of lobster which were cooked perfectly.
